Radio Romance

Lucked upon this kdrama randomly. Actually was lured into it by the trailer that feature Producer Lee Kang going around saying 'namaste' to everyone and being his peculiar self.

There are many things I loved about this show.

I loved how they gave the sky such importance because oh my gosh people. It's well deserved. The sky is the most magical thing is mortals are blessed with. And that time when the blue sky turns red...will always be precious.

Writer Song's relationship with her mother was very heartwarming. They were like best friends. I wish they continued focusing on that even in the later episodes. But alas.

Also guys can we please acknowledge the airport scene in the finale? It's the cutest airport scene I've ever seen and really gave a fitting ending to the bromance that was lingering throughout the show between Producer Lee Kang and Ji Soo-ho.

One of my favourite characters was hands down Producer Lee Kang. Of course his peculiar personality was entertaining but how he always stood up for what be believed in and how morally solid he was without ever showing off about it really touched me. He always took the fall when things went to shit and was still casual about it. He didn't start being an ass to Song Geu-rim when she rejected his feelings and was a good mentor to her right from the beginning, right from when she was the newbie to when she became the main writer.

The relationship between Ji So-Hoo and CEO Nam aka his fake mother was also really touching because of how layered it was. Clearly things are never black or white and sincerity in human relationships isn't always conventionally obvious.

This was one of those dramas where I felt more connected to the male lead than the female lead. Sure, I could relate to Song Gue-rim's struggles as a writer but I couldn't really feel anything for her. But I felt so much for Ji So-Hoo. His character was very mature yet extremely childish at the same time and I think that's how most adults really are.

The whole childhood connection kdrama trope was obviously a cliche but they still managed to do something different with it and Wo Ji Woo's letter to Ji So-Hoo really won my heart because that child was purer and kinder than anyone else in that whole show.
