Gimple isn't involved in S2 as far as I know. For one, he was showrunning TOWL and two, WGA has been on strike since what feels like forever.

Like MT intimated, AMC has known since the backlash that Norman isn't the big draw they thought he would be and he also alienated a big portion of his fanbase in the aftermath. They all know the show isn't good, but no one wants to go down with it, so the execs need someone to blame. Norman is paid much more than Zabel—the studio can swap out a showrunner, but you can't get rid of the lead—if Norman's market value goes down, AMC doesn't have to meet his rep's ask for future seasons.

How do you provide "actual evidence" of someone's hopes? Like MT said, my information comes from sources I trust because I know them and what kind of people they are. You don't have to trust them or me. You should only trust what makes sense to you. I've tried to provide context to the industry and TV production, so you can decide for yourself how the pieces fit together. Regardless, Gimple is kind of irrelevant right now because he doesn't have a hand in S2.

Aside: the reason we call it "the industry" is that we manufacture something. It's a trade and we belong to guilds. LA is a union town, but we only really have one industry, entertainment. Anyone directly involved in making a TV show is part of the industry, whether they arrange debris on an outdoor post-apocalyptic set or drive a truck load of equipment to location.
