Cartoons from my childhood part 2 UPDATED:
These lists will now cover cartoons/movies spanning my life up until now, but with a focus on the child and teen years. What I list may not be that obscure either, but I want to share this with you all nonetheless :>).
A Monkey's Tale (yr. 1999)–YALL I THOUGHT THIS MOVIE WAS A DREAM, BUT IT'S REAL. I need to rewatch it.
Life with Jesus (yr. 2004)–the devil in this scared me lowkey lol
The Missing Lynx (yr. 2008)
Khumba (yr. 2013)
Animals United (yr. 2010)
Funan (yr. 2018)–GOOD movie, but definitely more for adults and deals with heavy topics.
Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation (yr. 1986)
Persepolis (yr. 2007)–please read the book.
The Breadwinner (yr. 2017)
Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (yr. 1989)
Ernest and Celestine (yr. 2012)
The Last Unicorn (yr. 1982)
The Lion of Judah (yr. 2011)–Movie was meh, but the message was good–needed better art and direction, honestly
Underdogs (yr. 2013)
A Monster in Paris (yr. 2011)
Leap! (yr. 2017)
Space Chimps (yr. 2008)– I'm unsure if I watched the whole thing
Yellowbird (Gus) (yr. 2014)–I have no clue if I finished this either.
All Dogs Go to Heaven Movies and TV series (yr. Various)
The Balto movies (yr. various)
A good chunk of the Land Before Time movies (yr. Various)
The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (yr. 1998)
An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (yr. 1991)
Ferngully: The Last Rainforest (yr. 1992)
The Great Mouse Detective (yr. 1986)
Osmosis Jones (yr. 2001)–LOL I know people know this, but with the way it stayed trapped in my head, I am putting it down.
Torchlighters: The Perpetua Story (yr. 2009)– Don't remember all the details, but it was interesting enough that I do want to explore the martyrs/saints.
Justin and the Knights of Valor (yr. 2013)
Ben-Hur (yr. 2003)–I didn't finish, but I liked it enough to continue it again!
Testament: The Bible in Animation: Jonah (yr. 1996)–this Jonah freaked me out, lol

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Ham, the space chimp! 🐒
Tumblr media
On January 31, 1961, Ham the space chimpanzee made history after blasting off hundreds of miles into low Earth orbit inside a Mercury capsule. Before NASA could send humans into space, they used animals as test subjects to determine whether or not a human could perform tasks or even survive miles above the Earth’s surface.
This photo, submitted by NASA to the Senate Committee on Space and Astronautics, captured the image of Ham stretching for an apple after landing safely aboard the capsule. More than just a passive rider, Ham readily performed a series of learned tasks on his journey proving that humans would have at least a limited functionary capability in space. One apple seems a pittance for Ham’s great contribution to the Mercury project and human space flight. Nevertheless, he seemed glad to have it!

Director Wes Ball seems to have laid to rest one of the growing theories surrounding the human companion of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Mae. After seeing her dressed in more sophisticated clothes than the rags other feral humans of her century wear, many fans began to wonder if Freya Allan's character was a time-traveling astronaut, following in the steps of Charlton Heston and Mark Wahlberg. However, in a recent interview, Wes Ball elaborated that space and astronauts have a different place in future sequels.
Tumblr media
"This [fascination with space] is in the DNA of the movies. That's what we touch on, essentially. There's more to come. If we're lucky enough, there are more ideas to come in two and three. From the very beginning, space is obviously a huge component of this thing - but I am not saying there are time travelling astronauts in this movie. There's none of that, but it's an idea in the movie for sure."
Tumblr media
This seems a pretty clear put down of the Mae as an astronaut theory. Wherever the mysterious human with strange clothing comes from, it does not appear to be from space.
Ball is clearly leaving the door open for those missing Icarus astronauts from Rise to an appearance. Personally, I would not be surprised if there was an after credits scene in Kingdom where Noa looks up to see a space shuttle shooting across the sky. Perhaps it is spied in the telescope that Mae and Noa look at in the trailers. I'm certainly glad that this new movie will be trying to go in a different direction than the original Planet of the Apes film, and am excited to see what makes Mae 'smarter than most' of her fellow feral humans.
