sooo basically he's just a child- kiddo was forced to join the continental army and then abandoned by his family so that he couldn't get back, he's nonverbal and barely speaks at all and also is terrified of older women (blame his mother for dat)

not being social at all, kiddo ends up hanging out a lot with Matteo and basically they have a father son dynamic, istg Matteo would've adopted this baby after the war....if Leo hadn't died

he dies in 1780 from a cannon explosion (he was barely 16) and having no family or place to be left at Matteo has to bury the kid somewhere close to camp with his own hands . alone

on January 28 1837, Dante already knew he was not going to make it. So he informed his now adult son, who was unaware of the father's sickness since he arrived in London.

Two days later —the 30th— it was Matteo's 83th birthday, and Dante visited his grave joyous, because he finally would be seeing his husband again after thirty years of loneliness.

And now, he was laying in his bed at peace waiting for that moment, an unfinished painting at his side that was meant to be his last portrait. It would've never been completed without his dearest at his side.

It's January 31st 1837, and Dante will finally be in the arms of his love again.

she's an only child, her family has dutch origins but she's born in Germany

she knows German, Dutch and a few English

girl met Gio when the man was on a trip to Germany and she almost immediately fell for him

everything kinda went down from that because she started going insane and ended up poisoning Gio out of "love" (aka she was scared he would have hurt her and Marinella because the man was stressed over Matteo's stay in Italy) and later realized what she has done and fell ill out of lack of self care

she's very starved of approval and her family always looked down on her since she was the only child of the family

Gio comforted her and validated her so it was everything she could've wanted (it wasn't actually love tho)
