6 years ago today, the steven universe movie was announced (the first teaser was released). aka the movie that changed my life, from the series that already meant the world to me. spinel is my favorite character of all time, and i couldn't let the anniversary (or any chance to celebrate her) pass me by 🫶

Rebecca Sugar, you will always be an inspiration to me. Thank you for making such a wonderful universe of characters that have brought comfort and a place to belong to so many of us. Steven Universe has been my comfort and my home and my place to belong. When the movie came out and along with it, Spinel, I found a character that felt the most like my home out of any. I just feel like she understands me, on so many levels and for so many reasons. And that is so incredible. So many Steven Universe characters are the world to su fans, in the way that Spinel is to me, and the fact that this show exists for us all to see ourselves in it and find comfort in the characters, a place to be understood, and most of all a place to belong, is so incredible. Thank you, Steven Universe, for everything, and for being so much more than just a show.
