The work progress. 💋 ℒan~*

very annoying that it's both common and accepted to just call plants whatever. this goes for giving various plants common names in the style of "false [other plant name]" too. try harder!!

What kind of philodendron? Or is it Monstera?
Two years ago I bought a philodendron in a 2" planter from Trader Joe's for $3 for my biology class (I was trying the cellular respiration experiment with desert-adapted plants and it wasn't working so I had to go get a plant that comes from someplace where it can afford to lose water).
I repotted it in a 6" pot about a month after purchase, and then six months after that ended up repotting it into 3 pots, one 5", one 6", and one 7".
It has been very gratifying to watch this tiny little houseplant, which I bought because of an online bio class and which became a surprise housewarming gift to myself (and the first non-desert, non-succulent houseplant I've ever managed to keep alive) grow up big and strong and turn into three plants and keep producing big happy leaves.
But the reason I'm writing this is because one of the aerial roots of the one in the 7" pot is just going hilariously hogwild and I'm considering trimming it but I'm also just considering letting this happen and seeing where it goes with it.

STUDYING W. TIGHNARI-SENPAI
nsfw. MDNI. public fingering (but no one sees it). tighnari calls you "good girl". x f!reader. 600+ wc.
Tumblr media
as your senpai quizzes you, you fret over how well you’ll do on your upcoming botany test. tighnari scoots closer to point something out in your study materials, his hand finding your bare thigh and giving it a gentle, reassuring squeeze. he doesn’t move it away, but nor do you want him to. he knows the material so well that he doesn’t bat an eye as he rubs his hand along your thigh while you continue quizzing each other. your heart rate is picking up along with your breathing as his hand strokes its way ever closer to your core.
feeling needy, you uncross your ankles, spreading your plush thighs apart for senpai. the gesture isn’t lost on him and he takes the opportunity to let his pinky and ring fingers graze your clothed slit. your breath hitches as you spread your legs a little further open, welcoming him. inviting him. he can smell the enticing heat between your legs as his fingertips play at the hem of your shorts, which is almost in the apex of your legs given how short they are.
heat rushes to your cheeks and a little smile tugs at the corner of nari's lips when his fingertips dip beneath the fabric. but his smile falters for a moment as his eyes widen at the realization that you’re not wearing any panties. you bite your lower lip, your brow knitting in a mixture of pleasure and concentration as your quiet, clipped whimpers coincide with the grazing of his fingertips against your moist, naked folds.
changing the angle of his wrist, he slips his middle finger between your pussy lips to coat it with your slick, his full erection twitching inside his pants. you bite back a moan and he leans over to whisper in your ear as you lean into his shoulder.
“tell me the scientific name of the split-leaf philodendron” he commands, rolling your hard clit around with the slippery tip of his finger. your eyes flutter closed as you bury your face against his neck and grip his wrist. but he doesn’t let up. in fact, he lets his fingertip glide from your tiny budded bundle of nerves down to your neglected hole. “tell me the correct answer and i’ll give you what you want…” he whispers.
“m-monstera deliciosa...” you whimper quietly.
“good girl,” tighnari rewards you, his hard cock leaking against his thigh when he slides his digit into your gummy core. he fucks you with his finger, relishing the heat of your breath against his neck when he curls it inside you. he adds a second finger and vigorously massages your g-spot as his palm rubs your swollen clit.
“f-fuck, nari~” you breathe quietly against his skin, making the tip of his tail flick excitedly beside him.
he lowers his mouth to your ear with a grin. “i can feel you getting tighter around my fingers. you gonna cum for me?” all you can do is nod against his neck. “look at me…” he whispers urgently.
you look up into his brown-jade eyes, dazed, just for him to kiss you, his warm wet tongue invading your mouth as he pumps his fingers harder inside your pussy. it’s so quiet in the library that if anyone else were sitting at your table, they’d be able to hear the faint, wet sounds of your gummy walls sucking on tighnari’s fingers and his slick palm slapping against your clit. his drenched fingers fuck in and out of you, bringing you ever closer to orgasm.
with his ears nearly flattened against his head, nari feels it before he hears it. he kisses you harder, deeper when you clench hard, swallowing most of your moans and whimpers as you gush around his slickened fingers.

Monstera deliciosa 🪴
Information -
Kingdom: Plantae
Order: Alismatales
Family: Araceae
Genus: Monstera
Species: M. deliciosa
Monstera deliciosa, the Swiss cheese plant or split-leaf philodendron is a species of flowering plant native to tropical forests of southern Mexico, south to Panama. It has been introduced to many tropical areas, and has become a mildly invasive species in Hawaii, Seychelles, Ascension Island and the Society Islands. It is very widely grown in temperate zones as a houseplant.
It is called Swiss Cheese Plant due to their natural leaf holes. The Monstera plant's scientific name, Monstera deliciosa, derives from the Latin words "monstrum" meaning "monster" and "deliciosa" meaning "delicious."
Monstera plants are natural detoxifiers. Their broad leaves absorb and strip away indoor air toxins. The ideal temperature it requires is around 70°F. With a little humidity added to that, they get to feel right at home. Monsteras need bright light but do not tolerate direct sunlight. They can survive in low light, but their growth will be inhibited. To grow a striking Monstera plant with the lacy leaves and the coloration you adore, you need to provide it with good light. Monstera prefers bright indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods, as it can burn the leaves.
It is safe to come into skin contact with Monstera soil, foliage, and stems. However, it is not safe to ingest any part of the plant. Monstera is mildly toxic to humans and is toxic to cats and dogs but is not considered lethal. All parts of the plant are harmful to ingest except the fully ripe fruit, which rarely develops on indoor Monstera. The toxicity comes from insoluble oxalate crystals in the juices inside the plant. Indoor Monstera Deliciosa doesn’t yield fruits.
In various cultures, the Monstera has been a beacon of good luck, protection, and prosperity. It also fills spaces with positive energy and attracts good luck, according to Feng Shui.
Tips to grow and maintain Monstera:
Light: The plant thrives in bright and indirect light. It is advisable to keep it on a windowsill that receives good amount of indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight may burn its leaves. Note, if you find the leaves have small or no holes, then it means that the plant is not getting adequate light.
Soil:Use soil that retains moisture. Peat moss, perlite, and compost helps in the plant growth.
Watering: Ensure that Monstera Deliciosa is planted in a pot with good draining facility. The right time to water the plant is when the soil looks dry at the top. Note, overwatering may lead to root rot. During summers, the plant needs water regularly, however decrease the frequency of watering during winters.
Humidity: This plant grows well in humid conditions. You can mist its leaves or place it in a water tray having pebbles to increase the humidity level around it.
Temperature: Monstera Deliciosa grows well between 18°C and 29°C.
Support: As Monstera Deliciosa is an understory plant with aerial roots and large leaves, it needs support to grow.
Pruning: Prune the plant to maintain its shape. Remove yellow or damaged leaves so that the plant grows well.
Propagation: Monstera Deliciosa can be propagated through stem cuttings that can be rooted into water or directly planted into soil. You can also choose the process of air layering that involves creating a root system in a mature stem when it is still attached to the mother plant. Once roots are developed, the stem can be separated.

Part One
I’m new to plants so each new one is an Experience. Here are my thoughts on each one so far and would I recommend it.
Polka Dot Plant
The drama! The overreactions! The confounding preferences! These are cool af looking with bright colors but fuck you if you move it so much as an inch out of its preferred placement. And that placement? Guess. I have two. The red one has a south facing window and lives in the kitchen. The pink one insists on being in front of the tv where it gets no light. I stupidly gave her over an hour of overcast early morning light and she wilted for a week. The red one likes the humidity so he sits directly atop the dishwasher. He insists on plastic pots. She wants terracotta.
Recommend: Yes! If you want an ever-evolving mystery
Snake Plant
These fuckers do. not. die. I forgot to water my big boy for a few months and he’s fine, if a little wrinkly. Popped out two babies (one is pictured, trying to outgrow his dad) (second went to a friend, whose daughter pulled it out of its pot. It is also fine). The flat one is new. He was so root bound that the pots I had weren’t big enough. I had to split him up.
Recommend: YES. If you want a lich.
Philodendron
I have a pink princess and let me tell you, homeboy thrived at work under nothing but the overhead lights. Popped a half moon leaf and kept on growing. Took him home to fertilize and he’s even happier. The golden retriever of plants. Always happy.
Recommend: Yes if you have no pets or kids who will fuck with it AND want one plant who isn’t bitching constantly.
Money Tree
Speaking of constantly bitchy, I can’t make him happy. Look at his leaves. Half up, half down. Just when I think I need to prune him, all leaves fan out. Touch me’ ‘don’t touch me’ ‘water me’ ‘too much’ ‘not enough’. Sir make up your whole mind.
Recommend: ???????
Wandering Dude
I got these guys as clippings. The lady told me they were easy. I guess I’m doing okay? They live? Are they the best? No? I put them in the pot together because I didn’t have any more at the time. I went to separate them into their own pots but their roots were so healthy! Despite the fact that they grow away from each other like they’re having a tiff, they seem to be okay together? ‘U good?’ ‘yeah fine no problem’. Please note the spider plant there in the middle.
Recommend: maybe?
Spider Plant
Sluts. All of them. They produce babies like they’re endangered and need to single-leafedly repopulate the earth. I got him with one (1) baby. He produced 15. He would cOnVeNiEnTlY grow in directions of other plants. When I pulled the one sitting on top of the wandering dude, he had roots. So he stays. I’m too lazy to get a pic of papa plant. So there are his babies. Some of them. I’ve been forcing them on everyone including the tattoo parlor I frequent.
Recommend: Yes if you want a floozy

New leaf update! I currently have new leaves sprouting or have sprouted recently.
First my Pink Princess, the lady that got me into Philodendrons in the first place. Her last leaf was just a tiny bit off from a half moon. I don't think this next one looks as pink, which will actually be good considering I want to prop her top!
Next, my Philodendron Birkin. This one came two plants in a pot so I separated them. This one is pushing out it's first new growth!
My Dark Cardinal Philodendron is also two in one pot. I need to split her up because I do feel it is affecting one of the plants' growth. This one however is happy as can be with this new leaf!
This White Wizard was a rescue from Walmart. This is the first new leaf since I've brought it home. There seems to be plenty of white on it! Besides the torn leaves it has been doing really well. One day hope to make her a mother plant as well.
My Prince of Orange is my most sentimental plant. I picked it up from an Ace Hardware when I was on a date day with my son. This is its third new leaf since I've brought it home. I love the orange!
You might be wondering about the condition of this swiss plant. I honestly don't know if it's a monstera or a Philodendron. BUT it was a proplift from a Lowe's 😬 I won't be doing that again but I am super happy that I've been able to get her to grow!
So those are my current leaf updates! What plants do you have growing new leaves? Which leaves are your favorites?

-- ' ' Yeah so Monsteras are also called split-leaf philodendron-s sometimes , mostly found in southern mexico's tropical forests , they are flowering plants a--- Put your shirt back on. ---but also by now they have become kinda invasive. did you know monstera also means monstrous in lati----- ' '
Carlos huffs, his shirt coming back down with the reluctant compliance of a dog scolded for the crime of inching close to the treats. Like that dog still, he is not the least bit ashamed of his overeagerness. The proverial tail is still wagging.
"I bet their flowers are really something to see."
For a moment, he is back in the Amazon jungles. Demonstrating to his fellow guerillas how to use flor de maracujá as markers; colorful waypoints, along the secret paths of the revolutionaries. How grateful he'd been during their fruiting seasons; nature's bounty reinvigorated him on difficult days.
He dreams of another rich, seedy bite... but he'll happily settle, vying for another of life's pleasures.
"I seriously don't see why I need to keep this on while you talk." Carlos' shirt is lifting again. There is a smile, incorrigible throughout.

Jar-check Chronicles: A Peek into My Propagation Wonderland 🌱✨
Today, let's take a journey into the world of propagation jars! 🌱✨ Propagation jars are something I recently started experimenting with. For the longest time I have stuck with the tried and true water jar propagations or soil tray method. However, I recently acquired a number of new cuttings that I thought might benefit from a bit of extra humidity.
Now, some people might say to not bother the props and just let them do their thing... but:
I am too curious/have no self control
Like to check up on moisture levels and root health.
So let's take a look at what's in the jars!
Tumblr media
🌱Jar 1:
This little jar has become home to my alocasia corms. I have 3 larger corms here from an alocasia poly that I recently repotted into semi-hydro and they have been in here for almost two weeks now. These guys are looking great! I can see some roots coming off of the corms and I will probably give them another couple of weeks before potting them up. There are also a couple of little silver dragon corms in here. They're not super visible in the sphagnum moss and they might be a bit too small to really do anything. But we shall see 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
🌿Jar 2:
These are some cuttings and wet sticks that I got from some recent swaps! It also just so happened to turn into the philodendron jar (this was not planned... just a happy coincidence).
Tumblr media
I have two silver sword cuttings and a wetstick. These guys have been in here for 3 weeks now and I'm starting to see some roots and new growth! They're still pretty small so I imagine they will be in here for at least another month
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have a melanychrysum cutting that has been in here for two weeks now. I'm not fully confident that this little guy will survive. He was a bit rotty on the ends of the wetstick and his little leaf is struggling. There is a bit of root action but he's still going to live in the jar for the foreseeable future. I'll also keep monitoring his ends for signs of rot. If they continue to go downhill I'll likely treat with a diluted hydrogen peroxide dip.
Tumblr media
And, finally, we have a verucosum wetstick. This guy came as part of a larger cutting that has now been split into 3 sections. I don't really know why but his midsection ended up in a starbucks cup with moss and perlite and his top end, which has a leaf, is in a water jar. This end isn't seeing a ton of action but he's only been in the jar for a week, so I wouldn't have expected much. His starbucks cup brother already had some crazy roots and is starting to put out something (I'm not too sure if it's a root or a leaf)
Tumblr media
So far this has been such a fun little experiment. If anyone sees this reblog and show me your little prop jar worlds 🌿💚
