Okay. It was like pulling teeth, but I finally got all the back, sides, and top of the long raised bed in the back covered in hardware cloth. Yeehaw.

Thanks to a 12 foot long 2x4 I picked up by the dumpster yesterday (someone had obviously used to to level a newly poured concrete pad or driveway), I came up with a new idea on how to do the front which will be easier. Theoretically.

I'm going to put a new crossbeam halfway up down the length of the bed and attach hardware cloth to the upper portion. Then I'll do two doors for each section (four sections) on the lower half. This way the doors are (a) much lighter and (b) will use shorter lengths of scrap lumber, which I have much more of.

This plan has mostly resolved that feeling of project dread so hopefully it won't be so slow going?

had an insane barely articulated idea for a children's time travel novel that would require me to research heavily 4 different historical eras in a region I have never been to. also don't have a real plot yet. anyone have any good free historical resources on Chicago in the 19th century.

hi!! this song won the “which song should I make an edit of” poll (even though it was really three people voting) but currently I feel too lazy to make an edit, may still happen, but I like this song a lot with p:eg so I just figured I’d talk about the lyrics. there is an earlier one I did this with with eva so I’ll tag that one “moose’s p:eg song analysis” as well.

INSTANTLY reminded me of Wolfgang’s dislikes of lies and alcohol, there is no way those dislikes do not tie back to his father. technically Wolfgang is definitely not a drinker but this lyric is about wolfgang feeling guilt everytime he does something he perceives morally wrong. a drink as something he deems morally wrong or breaking his perfect leader facade, like him yelling about Cara during the mock trial, every bad thing feels like family, every slip up dragging him close back to his dad. but as he gets older, he’s afraid this is the way he is. he is a drinker. he is his father’s son.

wolfgang promises the class that nobody will kill because they’re ultimates and they’re so important to the world and upstanding that they will never kill. Wolfgang is killed first because an ultimate that feels like she has no real place in the world and was mocked for having an unimportant talent. when you make promises you can’t keep, they break you right back. then “amateur mistake, you can take it from me” !! eva telling damon she trusts him and then trying to frame him as a backup plan if Diana doesn’t work out, and she ends up dying because of it!! making vows you can’t keep kills!!

i feel like this is much weaker then my other p:eg sound analysis but I just wanted to get my thoughts into words. I hope you liked reading this there are more to come! It’s been a busy week in the garden, with new hens arriving (16 wks old) and their coop getting a complete revamp for spring. They’ve settled in well and seem to be really happy in their new home. We’re all looking forward to fresh eggs again. 😋

We’ve also been busy making some raised beds for our root veggies, a real blessing and makes life so much easier, especially with a sore back.

It’s also the last of our up cycled metal and I love that we’ve used every piece … nothing wasted. 😃

It’s been a job and a half to fill them, but we’re lucky enough to own horses, so there’s never a shortage of well rotted manure. Two nearly complete, two to go … 👍
