Tumblr media
Maito Tee • Raen • 19 • she/her • BLM “Of Stranger Shadow” • Oldest alt, originally made to be another WoL. Currently reclassified as a semi-retired Scion (she might be young but she’s way too tired of all this shit). Moody, introverted lizard girl who’s bad at expressing her emotions. Often comes across as rude or angry. Quick to resort to violence (“fire IV your way out of troubles”). Likes fancy desserts and soaking in hot springs. Currently taking time off to relax and spend time with family. Lesbian, not really shipped with anyone rn. Server: none
Tumblr media
Yusui Kuura • Raen • 26 • he/him • AST “Finder of False Gods” • Maito’s older half-brother. Smug and provocative lizard with questionable morals who’s favorite way to pass time is to annoy others. Working in Glass Camellia - shop that’s antique store on paper but in reality sells various merc services for clients willing to spend the gil. Likes quality tea, peaches and strong reactions to his provocations. Rarely knows when to stop on time and ends up injured. Insomniac. Bi, possibly demiromantic - only shown romantic interest to his 2 childhood friends. Server: none
Tumblr media
N'jinh Tia • Miqo'ra • 27 • he/him • DRG/MNK/GNB “Thrillseeker” • Hawu'li's new travel buddy while his original co-WoLs are taking a break. Orphaned at a young age, got later half-adopted half-enrolled by a small secular group of monks. Abnormally resistant to damage, but can't use any magic. Over-confident in his own abilities, leading him to treat even serious fights like a game with no real dangers. Bi, no ships yet. Server: Spriggan
Tumblr media
Naho Mewrilah • Keeper • 23 • she/her • DNC/BLM “Flamelady” • Selectively mute catgirl who likes dancing and performing. Bright, energetic and very free spirited. Grew up on a pirate ship, is currently travelling the land to see other cultures like her adventurer mother did before her. Great with animals. Scared of bugs. Friends with Maito. Bi, her relationship status is honestly a mystery. Server: Phoenix
Tumblr media
Chiluku “Chili” Gharl • Xaela • ??? • he/him • DRK “Shadow of the Other” • Shy, anxious and clumsy max height au ra. Strong enough to carry huge sword around all day, but will accidentally knock over your flowerpot with his tail and then cry while repetedly saying sorry. Born as Kagon. Got kidnapped by garleans as a kid for having echo, devoleped “Sen” (Esteem) as a young adult and managed to fight his way out. Currently working as a bodyguard-for-hire in Glass Camellia. Bi, currently not dating anyone. Server: Moogle
Tumblr media
Einn • Rava/Veena mix • ??? • he/him • RPR “Gatekeeper” • Viera who appeared from the forest during the events of Endwalker. Generally polite and princelike, but clearly avoids talking too much about his past. Sometimes gets strong personality shifts based on moon phase - he’ll get more aggressive, before dissapearing into the woods for a few days. During this time he’s known to cause trouble to anyone who dares enter “his” forest. Possibly tempered. Works as a gleaner post-EW. Gay, sometimes shipped with Erenville. Server: Twintania
Tumblr media
Momoka “Momo” Komori • Raen(?) • ??? • they/them • SAM/NIN “Lullaby of a Departed Soul” • Mysterious nonbinary auri who pretty much counts as a cryptid. Appears randomly and leaves just as quick. Seems to have no loyalties towards any living being, though them appearing usually means there’s some ghost or demon involved. Part demon themself, often seen with huge white snake called “Emi”. Sexuality and relationship status are a mystery. Server: Twintania
Tumblr media
Yulan Castalia • Veena • ??? • he/him • crafter/pictomancer "At Art's Horizon" • Introverted and a bit shy viera lad with a fondness for flowers, mammets and creating things. Mainly working as a goldsmith, but can do most crafting jobs - just don't ask him to cook. Likes to paint. Can't swim. Often hides when forced to talk to unfamiliar people. Temperamental and a bit of a tsundere. Gay, not shipped with anyone yet. Server: Zalera
Tumblr media
Firn • Rava • few thousand years • he/him • Sword mage (pld x rdm) "Of Unbreakable Oath" • Cold, knightly viera with demeanor almost as icy as his namesake. Originally hailing from the Sixth, one of the rejoined shards, he is taken in to work with the ascians after the destruction of his home. Generally very aloof towards others, but for some reason seems to attract small animals. Fiercely loyal with a strong sense of personal moral code, he seems to now wander Eorzea in search of the reincarnation of a mysterious past charge, whom he seems to barely even remember. Server: Alpha
Edited Jan 8th: Finished reworking N'jinh's info + updated his picture.

Meet The Choir
It's Monday, so I'm giving you lore bits about my character's "Choir" - the result of Minti's job crystals resonating with her aether and Echo. In non-WoL timelines, they are aetherically created constructs made from Minti's imagination; in WoL timelines, they are people she's met on the way to becoming the Champion of Eorzea. Think of them like party members you'd meet in a classic Final Fantasy game. Or, if you've played Civilization games or Disco Elysium, they're like those pop-up advisors who appear to tell you about how cities work, or to tell you that your ugly tie looks GREAT on you.
I go into more detail HERE and HERE.
---
Without further ado, let's meet our aetheric host:
Tumblr media
Lead Soprano: The Artist (They/None)
Note: "I am here to create. You may refer to me however you wish."
"The world may be dark indeed, but have faith. The chill of winter must come 'ere we find the warmth of spring."
Manifested from the Samurai job crystal. Self-appointed voice of reason, coordinator with the many other voices in Minti's crystals. Logic with tempered passion.
Tumblr media
Soprano: The Firebird (She/Her)
Note: "Let me burn freely, and fully. You'll let me do that, won't you?"
"You always fought with such passion, my love. Harken to my dance..."
Manifested from the Dancer job crystal. The voice that burns bright and pushes Minti forward, even in the darkest of days. May be a misremembered paramour, or even one of the Four Lords. (Mortals don't have love affairs with primals...do they?) Passion with tempered logic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soprano: The Frost Queen, She Made of Ice (She/Her)
Note: "I've been waiting to rejoin the Choir for a very long time. High time to grow my hoard..."
Originally manifested from the Dragoon crystal, but was abandoned in the Coerthas Highlands. Rejoined the Choir when Minti retook up the lance.
Used to take on the form of an ancient Ice Dragon, and may, in fact, be the spirit of one bound to the job crystal. Has a long memory and a dragon's hoard to match.
Experience. Acknowledgement of the past, remembrance of sins, and embrace of the future.
Tumblr media
Soprano: The Steel Queen, She Made of Machina (She/Her)
Note: "Loading standard greeting and designation....Hello. I am The Steel Queen. Standard operating procedures are in place."
Originally manifested from the Machinist job crystal. Currently manages Machinist and Sage, but Sage may be splitting off into their own voice.
Anticipation and proper procedure. The voice best suited for memorizing job rotations.
Tumblr media
Lead Alto: The Signora (pronounced Si-NO-rah) (She/Her)
Note: "Hello there. You aren't busy at the moment, are you? Of course, you are browsing your website, yes, but are you busy afterwards. We should talk."
The voidsent bound to Minti's Reaper crystal. Originally known as the Countess Alessandra. Before her world became enveloped in Darkness, she was a favored figure in the kingdom of Troia. Has a lovely singing voice. Is not proficient with the subtle art of assassination, who told you she is, that's a rumour.
Greed. The drive to see a difficult fight finished.
Tumblr media
Alto: The Knightly Mother (She/Her)
Note: "My face may be unfamiliar to you, but I am assured you know who I am. I am, as always, waiting and willing to take the reins from you, Warrior of Light.
Just say you have need of me, my friend.
I will never abandon you."
The darkness inside Minti's Dark Knight crystal. The collected memories of one Lady Sabbatine Treleaux - dark knight, matron of a fallen Ishgardian House, mother to a Viera who was a long way from home. Protector to the very last breath.
Friend, comfort, honor.
Tumblr media
Lead Bass: The Royal Volunteer, or Volunteer (He/Him)
Note: "No aethergraphs while I'm working! Please! What's that Au Ra doin' ther-"
Originally manifested from the Gunbreaker crystal. The classic Final Fantasy adventurer, always ready to do content, whether that's roulettes, raids, or delivering mail for the Deputy Post-Moogle. Many, many letters...
A big man with an even bigger heart, who wants to improve his skills when there's a chance. Getting in misadventures with Scions or friends is his bread and butter.
Reliability, friendship, love given freely and often.
---
And that's everyone! New voices will be added in future posts.
I hope this has been of some help to you, at least in understanding how Minti's Echo works.

How To Beat the Via Infinito Bosses in Final Fantasy X-2
March 28, 2024
Tumblr media
I have played Final Fantasy X-2 since I was a kid, but I have never made it through all 100 levels of the Via Infinito dungeon. I have always stopped at Cloister 20 because this dungeon is tough!
However, this time around I decided I would actually attempt to beat all the bosses, including the scary Paragon and super scary Trema. (999,999 HP!?!)
Younger Me would be ecstatic to know that I actually did it! And while it was hard, it wasn't THAT bad. It just takes patience and strategy. Here's what I did for each boss fight.
Cloister 20 - Aranea (18,280 HP/178 MP)
Yuna: Berserker, Rikku: Psychic, Paine: Festivalist Character levels: in the 50's to 60's range This is just a typical boss fight. I attacked and healed as necessary.
Cloister 40 - Black Elemental (9,999 HP/2,380 MP)
Yuna: Berserker, Rikku: Songstress, Paine: Festivalist Character levels: mid to high 70's This one was super hard until I switched Rikku to a Songstress. I had her "dance" the ability "Magical Masque" which nullifies all magical attacks while she's dancing. This stopped Black Elemental from causing any damage. While Rikku danced, I had Yuna and Paine quickly attacking until it died.
Cloister 60 - Concherer (343,280 HP/170 MP)
Yuna: Thief, Rikku: Dark Knight, Paine: Dark Knight Character levels: in the 80's range I equipped Thief Yuna with Cat Nip (causes 9,999 damage when HP is low) and a Haste Bangle (Auto-Haste when HP is low). I put Rikku and Paine as Dark Knights because I needed them to have high defense. I was also using Rikku and Paine as my item healers whenever necessary. Thief is very fast and with their 2 daggers, they are hitting 9,999 twice each turn.
Cloister 80 - Chac (437,850 HP/820 MP)
Yuna (Lvl 87): Thief, Rikku (Lvl 89): Mascot, Paine (Lvl 92): Mascot SOUL SPRINGS or MANA SPRINGS are a must! Thief Yuna has Cat Nip and Haste Bangle (see above), and Rikku and Paine are both wearing the Mascot dressphere. They were equipped with HP+ accessories and Speed Bracers which casts Auto-Haste. Chac is super fast so having Auto-Haste helps! I didn't have any Soul Springs but I did have 7 Mana Springs. They both take MP away from the enemy. I tossed 4 Mana Springs and depleted Chac's MP enough to where she could not cast Heaven's Cataract anymore. This is a game-changer because it deals so much damage to all 3 characters. You still have to be fast enough to cure Petrification (because the Ribbon is useless, unfortunately) but besides that, having Heaven's Cataract gone makes this battle a lot easier. You also have to get lucky that she doesn't Petrify your Cat Nip + Haste Thief! (Or at least be fast enough to heal them!) The first time I beat Chac, Rikku was obliterated and Paine died, Yuna survived and she was able to evade all of Chac's attacks and eventually took her down alone. But I wasn't happy with that, so I played it again and successfully kept all 3 girls alive!! (That's why I say you have get lucky, but it IS possible to keep all 3 girls alive.)
Cloister ∞ - Paragon (200,000 HP/9,999 MP)
Yuna (Lvl 96): Mascot, Rikku (Lvl 98): Thief, Paine (Lvl 99): Mascot I switched Rikku to a Thief because I wanted to use the Moogle Mascot's white magic. I kept Paine as a Mascot and had her using the Cactling Gun ability (causes 9,999 damage each time).
Yuna and Paine were equipped with an Oath Veil (Magic Defense +60) and a Ribbon. I also equipped the Higher Power Garment Grid because it allowed them to break the HP limit. Immediately at the start of the fight, I used a Chocobo Wing (casts Haste on the party) and a Stamina Tonic (doubles the party's HP). Then I used X-potions to raise their HP to around 12,000. Yuna focuses on healing with Moogle Cure, and they both throw Phoenix Downs at Rikku whenever necessary.
Rikku had Cat Nip and a Haste Bangle equipped as well as the Highroad Winds Garment Grid (First Strike). She was hitting 9,999 attacks twice each turn.
Cloister ∞ - Trema (999,999 HP/999 MP)
Yuna (Lvl 96): Mascot, Rikku (Lvl 98): Thief, Paine (Lvl 99): Mascot Immediately after defeating Paragon, you are thrown into a fight with Trema. Yuna died in the previous fight so I had to QUICKLY use a Phoenix Down, then Chocobo Feather and Stamina Tonic + X-Potion. I also used Elixers and Turbo Ethers because Paine's Cactling Gun uses up a lot of MP. Rikku was doing the same as before, she was just attacking each turn. Yuna's focus was ONLY to cure this time. Whenever she or Paine were around 6,000 HP I would use an X-Potion or Elixir. Around 9,000 I would use Moogle Cure to bump them back to around 12,000. Thankfully the Mascot dresspheres have incredible defense and magic defense (plus the added Oath Veils +60 magic defense helped a ton.) This was very much a slow and steady match, but very possible!

I'm no longer suffering from vaccine side effects, so here's the more relevant pages from the Famitsu Cube + Advance issues I got in the mail on Friday (while in the middle of trying to sleep off an awful headache and joint aches)
Scans for these pages plus the other Famitsu and Dengeki magazines coming hopefully this weekend (I really need to get on finding my xacto knife and clear out a space to tear these magazines down)
Also on the archival/preservation docket are the Tsutaya demo DVD, the Gamecube Spring 2003 eCatalog disc, and an unopened Japanese shop promo DVD I didn't even know existed until I stumbled upon it on eBay right before the holidays:
Tumblr media
I don't expect the shop demo DVD to have anything of interest on it, but it's still a piece of media that should be archived I also found an archive containing almost every 月刊任天堂店頭デモ (Monthly Nintendo Storefront Demo) disc, so I went and downloaded everything from January 2002 to September 2003 and found at least 2 different TV commercials that I'm planning to record for archival Video media I plan on getting done the whenever the shop demo dvd shows up in the mail
Sometime this week another Moogle plush (with its tags!!) is supposed to show up in the mail, so I'll be updating the Moogle plush post with a high resolution scan of the final missing paper hangtag
In other news, I have the Ring of Fates light novel set on order and might also be getting the 4koma comics as well, depending on if the seller I bought from actually has them (a different seller cancelled my order because they didn't actually have the books despite having listed them for sale on Yahoo!Shopping? Definitely not buying from them again if they can't manage to keep track of inventory) I'm not holding my breath on the 4koma comics, though. If I do get them, however, they'll be archived like the rest of the FFCC books; but I might be leaving translation to whoever else wants to do it as I'm not familiar with the sequel games at all (though I'm hoping to change that later this year)

Each of the usual suspects has their places they go to disappear for a while. Zieh'to hides out in the Manufactory (where Stephanivien has given instructions that anyone come looking for a Warrior of Light who doesn't want to be found should get only a shrug and a vague answer and should certainly not be directed toward the sooty greasy Miqo'te poring over blueprints); Doenlona just takes her airship, turns off the locator, and fucks off into the sky for a bit (Cid has to invent a whole new type of locator, but she doesn't usually disappear when she's really needed); no one can find Ves in the Shroud or Dravania or the Sylphlands if Ves doesn't want to be found. Thybé has his mother's house, of course, but if he needs to truly be alone, he'll go into the wilds -- Yanxia or Thanalan, possibly Mor Dhona.
The others know when one of them doesn't want to be found, and they won't pry. The bond will let them know if one of them is in distress, so they're content to live and let live unless they've been really worried about someone's emotional state.
Oday, for their part, sometimes goes to the Forgotten Springs or the Brotherhood of Ash -- places where they can simply be a fellow warrior and put aside the khagan and the Warrior of Light and everything else for a while. But most often, they go up to Zenith. They can feel Hraesvelgr near there, and the resonance between them comforts them. They don't call him -- knowing his steady, solid presence is enough. They camp there for a few nights, drill the basics of their myriad weapons -- no magic, no aetheric maneuvers, just the movements. Axe, sword, lance, bow, gunblade, perhaps even a katana if they ever find the time with Hien to learn. They help the moogles care for the place too, chop their own firewood, hunt their own game. They always bring tribute for Hraesvelgr and leave it at the summit.
And, after seeing them there several times, Hraesvelgr's reawakened curiosity gets the better of him, and he flies down to the lower level on which Oday is camped. "Mortal."
Oday puts up their lance and bows -- a gesture they reserve for only those they hold in the highest respect. "Great one."
“Why dost thou come to this place? I have seen thee spend a turn or two of the sun here, many a time.”
“I find the solitude calms me when I need it most. The chill in the mist washes away my confusion and doubt.”
“Solitude, thou sayest, yet I see thee converse with the moogles when they arrive to care for the place. And I have seen thee help them care for the tower, as well.”
Oday laughs. “Moogles, great one, are vastly different from the people I escape by visiting Zenith.”

THE GREAT DUNGEON RACE. 04/08
The first event of the Moogle Games was a spectacular time. A rendition of a previously hosted event, but with the good fortune of not just one but two live announcers. I was lucky to work with the wonderful Tinka Ortechl to provide coverage over the event. Not only did we pair well to keep an eye on all four teams involved during the event, but we did so with jokes and experience of said dungeons for our viewers to enjoy.
Not only did we have a spectacular sports announcing team, but we also had four fantastic teams to watch conquer said dungeons.
Team Yell (Yellow)
Team Sad Cat (Blue)
Team Laughing Lotads (Pink)
Team Black Like My Soul (???)
Overall, each team did fantastic. Playing it safe where it counted, taking risks that ultimately changed the fate of the team chance at winning! With such an exciting set of events, we felt the need to ask members of the teams directly what The Great Dungeon Race was like for them.
Below is the interview with Eve Blackwood from Black Like My Soul.
"How would you describe your experience in the Great Dungeon Race?"
“Fun! And kind of reckless, like, maybe a smidge too reckless. It may or may not have bitten me in the ass a few times, but it worked the first dungeon so /shrug. Clearly a face first charge is the way to go :3c”
"Your team won the first round, Brayflox's Longstop. What would you say contributed the most to Team Black Like My Soul's victory?"
"Probably stupid aggression, honestly. That, and the fact that essential dignity exists. AST kinda busted that low level"
Then we interviewed Errol Lovari from Team Sad Cat
"How would you describe your experience in the Great Dungeon Race?"
"Weirdly tiring! But in a good way? Apparently I use similar brain power doing the Dungeon Race as I do learning extremes, which is kind of strange to think about. It's fun, though!"
"Your team won the second round, Stone Vigil. What would you say contributed the most to your team's victory?"
"Respecting the ice sprites! Those things are mean. Going into the hallway that has two sets of those, I decided to do it in two pulls instead of trying to do it in one, and it thankfully paid off. It helped that I was positive we could murder them quickly and move on, of course."
And finally, we talked to Gustav Parton from Team Laughing Lotads
"How would you describe your experience in the Great Dungeon Race?"
“I would personally describe my experience as both an exhilarating one and a feeling of redemption going from getting third place every time for the first one to being on the winning team feels amazing the rush of the dungeon race is so good I love the camaraderie and competition”
"Your team placed first in the third round, Dzemael Darkhold. What would you say contributed the most to your team's victory?"
“I would say honestly it was our healer and strong AOE. Red mage, Dancer and Astro allowed us to speed past everyone else along with Milo’s excellent tanking”
We’d like to give a special thank you to all of those who participated! Each team was awarded specialty chocobo bardings for their victories. This concludes our exclusive article about the first event of the Spring Moogle games! Check in next time for our article on the PVP Tournament known as “The Moogle Melee”, hosted by T’wynk Tia.

Statistically at least some of you play Final Fantasy XIV. If you haven't already, pay attention to the soundtracks of the raids and tell me that the composers didn't take famous classical (and other) pieces and tilt them 15 degrees to the left.
The Omega Sigma Scape raid? A Bach toccata and fugue.
The Moogle raids? Nightmare Before Christmas.
The fairy raids? Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
And there's a world where the background is basically Greensleeves, and another raid where they just took the opening of Rite of Spring and tweaked it.
Note: this is not complaining! The music slaps! It's just very funny how clearly some of the (vast) soundtrack for this game is based on other pieces.

2023 Goals
1. Finish my WIP, Something’s Gotta Give.
I have 3 chapters published, a little bit of chapter 4 written and I estimate the whole thing should be no more than 8 chapters. So theoretically doable, right? (My ADHD laughs at me.) But I really want to get it done so I can move on past ARR events of Severia and Nero’s story.
2. Answer all the asks languishing in my inbox. I know I don’t HAVE to, but I want to at least answer the more recent ones within the next month.
3. Stop zoning out and wasting time scrolling social media and use that time for, say, writing or even actually playing games. This is such a bad habit of mine and I really hate it. Speaking of actually playing games...
4. Finish Nier Replicant. I started playing it in the Spring and then set it aside after getting the first ending when new FFXIV content dropped and then just never managed to pick it up again. But honestly I LOVE this game and I started playing again yesterday and it’s so relaxing for me when it’s not making me feel like an absolute monster. But I’ve always loved a well written tragedy.
5. Play the original FFVII. what I really want to do is play the remake and crisis core. (I am already a Zack fangirl in my heart.) But from what I’ve gleaned on the internet, it seems like I’ll get the best experience of the story if I play the original, then Crisis Core, then the remake. (My husband really wants me to play VI first cause that’s his fave but I just have a feeling that VII is going to me more appealing to me.)
6. Get my alt Noloty through HW and StB. She’s at the part where she’s just met the Moogles and I’ve been neglecting her terribly but I want to play her more this year.
7. WRITE MORE. Can’t be said enough.
8. Stop being jealous of reblogs, be more grateful for likes. Learn to be content with the amount of interaction I already get and not covet more.
This one is perhaps the most important and also the most difficult. I have a real problem and it’s going to take a lot of effort to do something about it. So if there’s anyone out there who also struggles with this and would be interested in supporting each other, dm me.

When Iris was small, his favorite toy was a stuffed moogle with jointed limbs and a pom mounted on a spring. He was exceedingly gentle with it - left it on a shelf most of the time - because he heard his aunt say that it was the kind of toy you pass on to your grandchildren. It's probably still in his childhood home, somewhere.
When Band was living in a Gridanian orphanage, she became really good at games like footbag and circle kicking. She’s still pretty good at it today, and more than likely has a little beanbag in her personal effects somewhere purely for kicking around.

Trials of Mana remake liveblogging (4/...)
New game plus liveblogging. My new party is Charlotte, Kevin, Hawkeye.
This is my first time doing a real run-through with Charlotte as the main character. Her opening is unique among the main six because she doesn’t actually go to Jadd where the other five converge. The Meridian Child credit roll also doesn’t go over a sea voyage like it does with the other five because she’s already located in Wendel.
Having Charlotte and Hawkeye in the same party is pretty wild because Charlotte is the most immature of the six and Hawkeye is the most mature (Charlotte is also the shortest and Hawkeye the tallest, if I’m not mistaken -- yep, this confirms it). It definitely gives off the impression that Hawkeye is her babysitter rather than a teammate, lol.
Kevin is also pretty immature, but it’s a bit offset by the fact that he’s level 70-something and 1-jab KOing everything...
My partner is so amused by how everything Hawkeye says/does is accompanied by a model shot.
Finished up the last Li’l Cactus sightings. Li’l Cactus’s accessory and the Love of Mana chain ability are incredible. Makes it easy to speed through the dungeons.
I’m already at the Windstone and level 20-something due to the Love of Mana exp booster. So I upgraded Charlotte to Priestess (light), Kevin to Brawler (dark side this time -- with Charlotte, we won’t need his healing anyway), and Hawkeye to Ranger (light, since in the Collection of Mana playthrough I went dark).
Me: We should go light since we went dark last time. My partner: Ninja looks cooler, though... Me: I agree, that’s why we picked Ninja last time, lol. (But seriously, Hawkeye’s light classes look so dorky.)
That scene where Hawkeye rescues Riesz from Bil and Ben was very shippy.
Charlotte has the CUTEST reaction to being turned into a ghost.
There is also some very slight Charlotte/Kevin shippiness after being rescued by Vuscav where Kevin calls Vuscav cute and then Charlotte says Kevin needs glasses if he doesn’t think she’s a hundred times cuter than Vuscav.
Kevin’s Brawler costume is very cute. I like it a lot.
It’s weird how if Angela isn’t in your party (especially if Charlotte is the main character and therefore misses Jadd), she just... never shows up in the game??? That seems so odd.
This is the first time I’ve ever gotten Flammie and Riesz *wasn’t* in my party. It looks like Faerie will recall the existence of the Winged Guardian and your character will point you toward Laurent.
I like Charlotte’s voice. She sounds confident but also cute. “What can I say? I’m a natuwaw.” Hawkeye’s voice is also pretty good, but he has a deep voice and a high voice and seems to switch between them suddenly in a way that’s jarring. Playing again has made me realize I don’t like Faerie’s voice. In terms of pitch/tone, it’s fine, sounds like a cute fairy, but in terms of the delivery and emphasis in each line, the choices are really odd and never sound like how you’d expect that line to be read -- for example, timid and lackluster when it should be determined, or cheerful when it should be serious, etc.
There seems to have been a bug with the ??? Seeds -- I got both of Kevin’s and both of Hawkeye’s items, but none of Charlotte’s, and then started getting repeats at random from there. Welp, time to farm these again.
Oh wow, Kevin’s ending that I got last game, I encountered after giving the Sword of Mana to Goremand in Ferolia. I followed the king out behind the throne room and Kevin confronted him like he did in his ending last game. Curious to know what his ending will be like, then.
I got my second class change. I went with Sage (Light Dark) for Charlotte, Enlightened (Dark Light) for Kevin, and Rogue (Light Dark) for Hawkeye (because Nomad looks SO BAD OMG, but also because Rogue’s skillset seemed interesting to me).
OMG, Kevin’s Suzaku Aerial is amazingly badass, especially when he’s in wolf form. He howls at the end of it, too. So cute ToT
It took a while, but I finally got Lightgazer to turn my party into moogles. Awww.
If you go Charlotte/Kevin’s route, Dryad gets to be useful. Neat!
I like the look and enemy set of the Jungle of Visions. This rabite maze is quite cool too. The Darkstone / Zable Fahr isn’t very congruent with the jungle, though.
Oh man, this mirage Astoria is DARK.
So is this plotline involving Heath and the Masked Mage!! Poor Charlotte! She’s so cute but her storyline is so sad!!!
Okay Kevin’s ending in this branch is much better. It’s still not great but at least it doesn’t spring “Karl is alive actually” on you and then leaves it at that. And Kevin here does come to challenge his father but decides not to.
I like how Charlotte is a bit of a crybaby. So CUTE. Also, the way she refers to the rest of the party as “recruits”, lmao.
*sees Angela in the ending credits* I don’t know her.
Was Heath also in the ending credits in my last playthrough...? I don’t remember. It’s interesting that a lot of the scenes in the ending could be seen as either set after the game or set before everything Goes Wrong in each character’s storyline.
Revisiting Kevin’s orb quest: “I have a wife and kid to get back to in Mintas after all.” -- I just realized this is the husband of the woman in Mintas complaining that her husband joined Gauser’s war.
“Ludgar let us rampage through the human towns and I hurt a lot of people...but it didn’t help my anger. Now I just feel empty inside.” -- this extra coda really does help flesh out Kevin’s ending.
“Ludgar’s never around anymore. I guess he’s off training in the woods some more. Isn’t he strong enough already?” -- the other Beastmen don’t know what happened to Ludgar!
I like how Kevin doesn’t get angry at people calling him weak but gets angry when people call Ludgar weak.
Oh cool, last time, I didn’t even notice this statue at the base of Chartmoon Tower that teleports you up to the top. How convenient!
I was a bit worried about this boss battle because Kevin no longer has healing spells, but with Moon Saber, he’s a self-healing machine so nothing to worry about after all.
Hawkeye’s orb quest: I like how Hawkeye’s quest involves more Jessica and Eagle content. You get to see so little of them at the beginning.
I like how Kevin was the one to impetuously poke at this trapped treasure box. This whole cave and trapped treasure has a very Arabian Nights vibe (maybe helped by Hawkeye’s Rogue costume).
I’m getting a shippy Hawkeye/Eagle vibe from Hawkeye’s quest. I wasn’t expecting that!
Charlotte’s orb quest: I thought it’d be in Wendel, but looks like it’s in Dior / Wandara Woods.
I like how Charlotte has two fairly pre-eminent grandpas.
Riesz’s orb boss: giant bee. Hawkeye’s: giant mimic box. Charlotte’s: giant zombie (kind of random).
The High Priestess tech, OMG -- Charlotte’s poses, her dorky dancing, omg. It’s... it’s perfect. 🤩
Hawkeye’s Wardenkeep tech is okay but single target so not so useful for clearing mobs. Kevin’s Annihilator tech is also okay (I like how he gets blasted backward at the end of it), but it’s not as cool as Suzaku Aerial.
I started playing as Hawkeye for a while because Charlotte’s strength is too low and her attack magic so limited that it was making killing stuff quite tedious. The Wardenkeep look suits him, and I like how elegant all his movements are, from jumping and landing, to running, to using his daggers.
I’m not having very good luck with getting the equipment I want from these seeds...
It’s interesting in this game how close light/dark holy/unholy elements are to each other: Charlotte able to be a holy priestess or a necromancer; Heath/Tainted Soul having both holy and dark spells; there being a Priest of Light and a Priest of Dark; a lot of zombies and undead showing up in dark versions of Wendel; etc.
Okay! Finished this playthrough. What party will I do next...

MUN QUESTIONS.
Q1 : If you could write your character your way in their own movie,  what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?
A1 :  I don’t know what it’d be called, but I know the style will be epic fantasy ala Narnia or LotR to showcase all the out of this world aspect of it and what else would it be about? Yvaine’s Warrior of Light journey of course.
Q2 :  What would their soundtrack/score sound like?
A2 :  Same kind of epic fantasy feel. Lots of choral music and string instruments.
Q3 :  Why did you start writing this character?
A3 : Because I like to treat every character I play in a video game as a fully fleshed out character with their own story. That’s why I could never use my own name in video games (while my husband always does, lol). And I already had a ready-made RP partner in @keeperprinceling which totally helped. Also the FFXIV story is too good to not play around in to be honest.
Q4 :   What first attracted you to this character?
A4 : How she survived in this world when she started out having nothing. Pushing her on this adventure and seeing her discovering things and reacting to them for the first time was interesting to me, made me want to write more about her story and connect all the dots from her past that brought her here, being who she is today.
Q5 :  Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.
A5 : I struggle with making her interesting enough for other people to be interested in her. I feel like she’s just this cookie cutter do-gooder who is your cliché Warrior of Light type of character sometimes, but I also don’t want to betray the character to make her “edgier” or more interesting in ways most people probably look for. I like her the way she is, even if she leans toward the boring/bland side.
Q6 :  What do you have in common with your muse?
A6 :   We both love cute animals. That’s about it, lol. In a lot of ways, Yvaine is the polar opposite of me in that she’s wildly optimistic and extroverted, like she actively seeks out new people while I run and hide every time I hear the doorbell rings and aggressively hiss at the world in general.
Q7 :   How does your muse feel about you?
A7 :   She probably just wants me to stop putting her through all these never-ending quests and let her have that family already.
Q8 :  What characters does your muse have interesting interactions with ?
A8 :   Characters that are complicated and are not black and white brings the most interesting interactions out of her, because Yvaine herself is very simple in her thoughts about good vs. evil. But when she comes across people like Iceheart and Nero and any Garlean defector (especially when forced to work with them) her inner conflict and her inability to understand where they stand gives me life.
Q9 :  What gives you inspiration to write your muse ?
A9 : The game itself and its story. Sometimes silly things like finding a house side by side with her husband (which spawned our Neighbors AU) and the Scion outfit which looked like school uniforms made me think of a high school AU. But I’m usually triggered to write by events that happened in the MSQ itself.
Q10 : How long did this take you to complete ?
A10 : I filled everything in up to this last set then I let it sat in the Drafts for like a week because I kept forgetting it’s there.
