The Minnesota Twins headed across town to play the Red Sox in their final road game of the spring. The Twins were ready from the start as Mickey Gasper belted a Cooper Criswell curveball out to right for a lead-off home run. The Twins added on in the second when Austin Martin beat out an infield single and DaShawn Keirsey singled to right. Armando Alvarez singled home a run to double the Minnesota lead. The Twins kept adding on in the third with a Jackson Morales lead-off single and Eddie Julien knocked him in with a double to center. Austin Martin led-off the fourth with a double and Armando Alvarez plated him with a double of his own. With two outs, Jefferson Morales dumped a run-scoring double to center. The Red Sox found some offense in the fifth when Connor Wong walked and Ceddanne Rafaela singled. Rafael Devers singled home a run and Boston was within four after five frames. The Twins added some insurance runs in the seventh when Kyle Fedko doubled to left and Jake Rucker singled hom home. Patrick Winkel followed with a run-scoring double to center and the Twins lead grew to six. The Red Sox quickly loaded up the bases in the seventh. Marcelo Mayer drew a bases loaded walk and Wilyer Abreu hit an RBI groundout to first. The Twins responded with a pair in the top of the ninth and Jacob Bosiokovic put up a zero in the bottom of the ninth.

-Final Thoughts- Joe Ryan looked good in his final tuneup of the spring. He went 4 2/3 innings and gave up one run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jaylen Nowlin got out of the fifth, Anthony Misiewicz walked three in 2/3 of an inning, and Kade Bragg got out of this mess. Palshawn Pasqualotto struck out two over 1 2/3 innings and Jacob Bosiokovic put up a zero in the ninth. Jefferson Morales, Kyle Fedko, Jake Rucker, Austin Martin, DaShawn Keirsey, Armando Alvarez had two hits. The Twins hit 8-for-19 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Tomorrow, Thomas Harrington will face Bailey Ober as the Pirates come down.

Without him seeing, I open him up and start using my tools to repair him…

After he woke up, Dynomutt said thank you for the repairs and that he feels free of any abnormalities…

Except for that remote control whoopee cushion I put inside him…

{♚}—; Of course, he decided to put some trust in the anon for the day but it was definitely the wrong day to be doing so. He had been wanting to run diagnostics on his interior systems and Dynomutt had to admit he was feeling pretty great after the repairs.

However, he soon realized that unfortunately for him there was a hidden surprise left inside. But he didn't realize it for a while. So when he suddenly heard the sound and it surprised him so much that his legs extended like springs and he crashed down onto the polished floor of the falcon fury. He shook his head to get rid of the dizziness he felt, then rolled his eyes as he looked up at the stranger knowingly.

"I hope you're ready for what's coming next!" Dynomutt told him with a wink, while he soon began to think about all the ways he could get the anon back for that one, so many tools at his disposal there was so many different options and so little time.

It’s been one strange day. I headed to work this morning knowing it would be a full day, but hopeful I could get it all cleared up in time for my evening track workout, which would be my last quality workout before running a four mile race this Saturday, which in turn would be my final tuneup race before Ukrops Monument Avenue 10K on 3/28 in Richmond, VA. Well, I ended up leaving the office at 6pm, but only so I could get home and walk my dog before jumping on a conference call. So nope on the 400s. And then I found out the race on Saturday, the 4-miler was cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

At this point I will be pleasantly surprised if either of my spring target races, Monument or Cherry Blossom Ten Miler, happens. The Monument website has been silent, Cherry Blossom circumspect, about what they will do. But races all over the country are being shut down. Other big events, like St. Patrick’s Day Parades around the country, are shutting down as well. The NBA just suspended its season and the NCAA, tournament, the Big Dance, will be playing in empty arenas, both the men’s and women’s tournament. For this year at least the best seat in the house may very well be...in your house. Because I suspect large-scale local or regional quarantines are not far off.

So where does leave me? Well, first off, grateful to be healthy so far. This is a strange time we are in, like none I’ve been through in my 56 years on this third rock from the sun. We all need to take preventative measures, not just to protect ourselves, but everyone around us. We are all in this together. I may get to race, I may not. All I can do is live one day at a time, and try to make good decisions in the hope that they will add up to and contribute to a positive result for all.

I’ve heard some call all this an overreaction. But I don’t agree. We are about to hit the exponential increase part of the curve. The government is ill-prepared to flatten the curve, so it comes down to all of us. Wash your hands. Keep your hands away from your face. Avoid unnecessary physical contact. Take care of your body. Exercise. Eat smart. Sleep. And stay positive. If you have to curb some activities in your life, or modify how you work, know that it’s only temporary and just do it. Because it’s not just about you, but us, all of us.

Hopefully this rambling post resonated with someone out there. Meanwhile I plan to get back out for a run tomorrow. And then it’s day by day from there.

Braves Shutout Twins 4-0.

The Minnesota Twins headed out on the road for their final road game of the spring. They made it up to North Port to square off with the Braves today. The Braves were ready from the start as Ozzie Albies led-off the first with a single and Matt Olson walked. Marcell Ozuna then crushed a Bailey Ober pitch out to left for a three-run homer. This put Atlanta up by three after an inning of play. The Braves got back to work in the third when Austin Riley smacked a Bailey Ober offering out to left for a solo homer. The Atlanta lead grew to four after three frames. Braves pitching dominated throughout the day as Crhis Sale struck out six over three shutout innings. Tyler Matzek, Joe Jimenez, and Raisel Iglesias each threw up zeroes in the middle innings. The rest of the Atlanta bullpen did the rest as they combined to throw six shutout innings. Jorge Juan had a clean ninth to cap off the shutout win for the Braves today.

-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober lookged good and bad today. He went 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts in his final tuneup. Daniel Duarte retired all five batters he faced, Josh Staumont put up a zero in the seventh, and Matt Bowman fanned one in the eighth. The Twins scattered six hits and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. They left seven men on base. Today's game went a quick two hours and nineteen minutes. The Twins will return home for their Spring Training finale against the Braves tomorrow afternoon. Charlie Morton will face Louie Varland as the teams look to break camp.
