Boss: Looks serious. What does it say?
Cliff: My dearest Granddaughter- if you are receiving this, chances are it means you are the last one left, and the farm is nearly lost. Your father has passed on the land, letting it waste away and soon it will be lost for good, unless you are willing to take the lead… This was the home your grandmother and I made, your childhood summer spent in the dirt and ponds. You could be happy here, this could be your home. I love you, butter bean.
Piper: He... He left me his farmhouse?!?

Defining our year around how long it takes to go around the sun is dumb and months are dumb cuz they’re all different lengths. The calendar should be like stardew valley

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow
Dear Diary...
What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. - Suzanne Collins
After being in Clearwell for two years and hardly knowing anything about the town, I decided it was time for a change - time to finally push myself out of my comfort zone and become a more sociable person. Living on the outskirts of town made it too easy to shut myself out from the rest of the world. At first, that was exactly what I wanted what I needed. And for those two years, I focused on the ranch, my animals, and my job as an elementary school teacher. But after two years, I think it’s safe to say I’m pretty settled in, and I can’t use the ranch as an excuse any longer.
Spring brings new life for nature, and for me. And this past spring was not a disappointment.
The first couple of weeks were admittedly (understandably, I like to think) difficult for me. Forcing myself to get into town more meant I would be talking to people now. Which, for the most part, went well. But I quickly became a bit embarrassed to admit that I had been living in Clearwell for two years when people asked me if I was new, since they had, of course, not seen me around. Fortunately, the people in town have been very kind and beyond understanding. I’m sure its easy for anyone to tell I’m a shy, introverted kind of person. Which, unfortunately, made for a few awkward encounters. But I’m grateful for their kindness and generosity to me, a complete stranger.
I met Astrid, the hairdresser, and Lenna at the bakery. Myrtle and Mara at the library, where I also brought the students on a field trip, which they loved! At the Flower Festival, I met Thyme. Anna also came to the Flower Festival, and though things started off rough, we ended on a good note. She, of course, made a scene every where she went, especially with Liam and Thyme. Fortunately, Thyme is a very sweet, wonderful woman, and we actually went out for coffee that day. She’s so easy to get along with and I’m so glad we’re becoming friends.
And then, of course, there’s Alar has proven to be the... most understanding. I can’t even remember the last time I actually spoke to a man, honestly, since I came to Clearwell. Most of my interactions have been with Anna and Zooey. I hate to admit it, but I felt so intimidated when I realized that, yes, men existed, and yes, I would have to talk to a few of them, eventually. I couldn’t avoid it.
It seems so silly, so irrational, to have a fear of men. I mean, I don’t have a fear of men. Not really. But I’ve certainly haven’t had the best experiences, either.
Fine. Call it a fear. Call it whatever you want. I know it’s silly to assume all men are the same abusive, manipulative creatons. I know for a fact that they’re not all like that. It’s just my stupid, irrational, anxiety driven mind that has to make an enemy out of everyone for my own protection.
Alar isn’t like that, though. Alar is... a lot of things. Kind, caring, sweet, understanding. There’s just something about him, I guess. We spent a lot of time together over the spring season. At first, I didn’t think anything of it, and then I guess I thought too much about it, especially when we went out to dinner together. And from there, the confusion just seemed to... grow. Like when he came over to help me set up a tire swing, and we got caught up in the rain. And I’m pretty sure we almost kissed.
And then we did at the Fireworks Festival. Three times. That was shortly after we got stupidly drunk. I don’t think I slept with him, though. He said we didn’t. I trust him. And I’m so glad I didn’t do that. Definitely something I would have done. But, I didn’t.
I don’t want to admit it, but I think I like him. I stupidly like him. I haven’t been with anyone since I left Vance, and that was almost five years ago. I mean, haven’t been with anyone... seriously. You know, if you don’t count all my stupid one night stands.
I don’t want it to be like that with Alar. It feels... more than that. And it scares me. I don’t know what to do about it. I can’t say anything. What if he doesn’t feel the same way? I don’t even really know how I feel, except I’ve never felt this way before.
Anna’s no help, either, really. In her mind, we’re already married. She’d set me up with everyone in town if she could. Only because she wants me to be happy. I know that. In her own, weird, Anna way, she just wants me to be happy and safe.
I feel happy and safe with Alar.

Piper Goode just got news that she's inherited her grandfather Cliff’s farm, so she quit her job and moved back to his dilapidated home in the country. Don't worry, she's making this up as she goes.

The Johnson Family has important news! Little Madison is not a baby anymore - she’s now a toddler, and the most darling toddler ever, of course! Are her curls not adorable? And her little dresses? David and I held a lovely birthday gathering for her, with the Millers and the Bells! Does she not look cute next to little Donna Bell, who is only a little older? And her shoes actually match her outfit! This is just the kind of sweet fellowship I was expecting when we moved here to Newcrest, and I am excited to see our kitchen filled up with friends!
