No-eul is seen outside in the official pic from S3 in her guard costume, she probably is trying to escape the island. Jun-ho, after busting Captain Park and holding him hostage so he shows him the way to the REAL island where Squid games take place, sees that bright ass pink costume from afar, catches No-eul and is like "yo baddie help me find my bro l need to have a talk with him🫤" and she's like "ugh fine ig🙄" and I see them having somewhat of an enemies relationship at first with bad opinions abt each each other, but then they have a deep talk, open up and find out more abt each other and then fall in love and then kiss and and then leave everyone on that island and get married, END.

I know Hwang Dong-hyuk personally, he told me this himself🤗🤫

Season 2 moments where in-ho subtly appears and suddenly he was not the frontman anymore:

when he was talking about his past to Gi-hun

when he starts cheering for the other players in the second game

when he celebrates the victory of the other players

when he cares about Jun hee and asks how she is [the way he looks at her 🥺]

and when Gi-hun cares about him and gives his last bullets to him and he knew he was about to betray him

My wishlist for season 3:

So at this point we 100% know that Gyeong-seok is going to infiltrate as a guard, also there's that line in the trailer which I'm certain is his voice (the "I'll help you" line). I think he's probably saying it to No-eul, but I have a little bit of hope that he's actually saying it to Hyun-ju.

I'm really worried because we haven't seen any scenes of her in the trailer that aren't after the rebellion or during the 4th game. I'm really hoping she doesn't die and it's just to avoid spoilers, which would make sense if what happens is that Gyeong-seok smuggles her out. I have to have faith in Hyun-ju being strong af.

Btw, I drew the "Thank god, you're alright" one before watching any of the trailers or teasers. Also, I still haven't settled for animals for Hyun-ju and Gyeong-seok, but I do have something planned to help me decide 👀.

squid game s3 trailer! my uninfluenced thoughts!

ok, i watched it this morning and before i look at any fan theories i want to present my untouched personal ones lol. once again, i am analysing this all from a sociological perspective so strap in.

gi-hun: the martyr

gi-hun (which represents justice, resistance against the system) being carried out in a gift box (which throughout the series represents death) is 2 things to me.

1: it is an example of how those who rebel are used as examples, as in "this is what will happen to you if you also decide to resist". we see this in nazi germany, dictatorships. i think it demonstrates the power abuse from the ruling class and the idea that the series is coming to a close (late stage capitalism). now, the best way to control the agitated working class is the repressive state apparatus (althusser, 1970).

2: it represents a change in gi-hun. he is not dead, physically; he wakes up. but he's dead emotionally/symbolically. i think we might see a completely different side of him in this season. something more morally conflicting. this represents how "hope" is dead in the series. i've said before that korea is in late stage capitalism, and it has this idea of "n-po" or "n포세대": a generation that no longer believes in "n" amount of things, including "hope" and "life". i think this is what gi-hun is representing: the loss of hope in korea.

the gumballs

i've spoken before about how upon being faced with resistance, the ruling class creates division. we've seen this with octoberists and liberals in tsarist russia. we've also seen this with the x and o's in squid game. this time however, the people are more unified. by forcing division on them through a "gumball machine", squid game doesn't just represent the ruling class, but just how up to chance and completely irrelevant these differences are.

we also see what seem to be set ups for fight scenes, showing that this division, despite most probably causing the characters great moral strain, (son vs. mother, gi-hun seemingly being put against the pregnant character) they still abide by the rules because they have no choice.

considering how unified they are and the way that people with capitalist power work (in my experience), i'm going to take a guess that the front-man will take away their "privilege" to democratically vote out of the game as a punishment, representing how the working class is blamed for their suffering despite it not being their fault.

gi-hun handcuffed

i think this represents the repression of powerful voices. the ruling class physically holds those who pose a threat as prisoners (like when millions of rulers throughout history held political opposition in prison) to stop a revolution from happening.

jun-hee crying

i think she dies icl. i feel like her death as the pregnant character would be symbolic of the dropping birth rate, loss of hope in childbirth (like with n-po) and just the overall idea that rebirth or life cannot sustain itself in the system. once again, i really think this final season is hinting at the end of the system in the worst way possible.

season 2 and thanos' comic relief were our emotional preparation for the absolute disaster this season is going to wreak on our heartstrings.

last thoughts

i do not know what the key-hole + knife shapes represent. i also do not have full cultural context yet, so i might've missed the appearance of a game that koreans recognise.

we see the vips! we also seem to see gi-hun's outside crew get closer and closer. my expected and prefered ending to the series would be the most historically accurate one: capitalism is defeated, but greed for power is not. gi-hun ends the game, but begins one of his own. or alternatively, they stop the games - but only in korea - giving way to spin-off series, which would also be fine by me. i don't think they won't at least "seem" to win, but whatever the ending is, i trust it will be spectacular.
