It is kind of sad being a squirrelkin in a community full with lots of strong, bigger, predator kins around.

From Therian Guide: Many members are often pressured to fit in with the rest of the group. For example, a therian who has always identified a mouse, but feels underestimated or casted aside because most people would laugh it off “Ha? a mouse? ...well, my theriotype is a tiger” now, who wouldn’t be fascinated by a tiger?

Me, I'm a simple squirrel. I just want to forage for food to cache it, and hide from predators in a cozy nest up a tree.

I guess such experiences aren't very interesting, compared to a wolf describing their howl urges or a bear writing about their preparations to hibernate.

I have been exploring my identity as a squirrel, and have settled to leave it unlabelled. Every time I try, it’s like something inside me becomes frustrated and runs off, my connection breaks. I have worked myself to tears in stress over which label, which species. I can’t do that anymore. I will let the soft squirrel of my body run free.

Therian vent post -- No one to talk to

To be honest, it's kinda lonely being a therian :[

Yes, there are many alterhumans online, but I don't really know any in person (I know one, but she's 10 and I'm not out to her -- for context I'm 18). I also don't have any online therian friends 3:

I wish I just had someone to hang out and talk about this with. I'm constantly hiding this core part of my identity from everyone I know. It's tiring and sad

I'm not even out to my parents or brother. My brother "hates furries" and I think my parents would be ok, but it'd be super embarrassing and akward. They probably wouldn't get it anyways.

I also don't really have any close friends, so it's impossible to tell if anyone of my friends might accept me
