My mom was the kind of person who didn't like to give up anything "useful" and had very loose definitions of "useful" "for whom" and "When", so now trying to clean up around the house I'm running into things like my brother's Despised Physics Textbooks from college(he graduated five years ago) bc someone sometime Might Need Them, or comforter sets from over a decade ago bc we might need it for company or We Can Donate It(we haven't touched it is 11+ years).
She was one of the most amazing people I've ever met but at the same time Mother WHYYYYYY
#queen rambles#some of the stuff i understand!#like the christmas ornaments handmade by her aunt who died when i was like 3#those are special and will be kept until they fall apart#but she also used to keep the disposable lids from those gigantic mission bbq reusable cups#there was a stack of like ten of them i threw out when i hit the kitchen#the one box of textbooks has to weigh like 60-70 pounds it's RIDICULOUS#i'm gonna see if those can be donated somewhere and otherwise they're getting pitched#we have too much junk in this house#as the Woman of The House i will be getting rid of stuff#today i think i'm going after the hutch cabinet in the dining room bc it drives me crAZY#we have shelves downstairs with all the books she could keep from when she homeschooled us#to be clear: i graduated high school almost TWENTY YEARS AGO (omg)#youngest sister it's been six years#it's almost all out of date#but she still hung on to it in case she could pass it to someone#bc she was all about having resources to help other ppl#(i love you mama but we need the space#and i need to not go insane from clutter)
