This black and white photograph shows a ship with a single smokestack and two masts moving through the water of the Panama Canal.  Its name “Stella Polaris” is written on the side of the ship.  Two smaller tugboats are visible.  The Stella Polaris was a well known cruise ship in the 1930s, but it is small by today’s standards.

Today I transported Onyx and one of her daughters to a lady in Ohio. While I liked Onyx well enough, literally no one else here liked her, with Opal only somewhat tolerating her, so I'm hoping that she and her daughter will be able to remain friendly and together in a new home. They did really well on the drive, and didn't fuss at all to be transferred to the other transport caging since we met halfway. It's always amusing to me when I rock up to a farm or a meet with my unique form of transport - just gating off the back of my Jeep and putting down towels - with completely chill birds, and the people are somehow amazed that giving the birds space and comfort (two things I am constantly telling people to give these birds) means they aren't throwing themselves at the walls trying to get away or stressing out about transport. They literally just sit down and hang out for car rides.

Anyway, the lady they went to was very sweet in person and was looking for a couple hens to keep her mom's boy company after her mom passed away. I'm sure they'll enjoy being spoiled babies with him.

Star Wars OC Introductions

Uh oh guys I got into another fandom and have lots of ocs already. These are just for the Skywalker Saga movies cause it’s all I’ve seen so far (gonna see others soon though) and they are all split up between the three trilogies!! Shoutout to both @randomestfandoms-ocs and @rose-of-oz for listening to me talk about these guys and helping with different faces and other ideas!!!

Prequels

Diomedes Olphen (Devon Bostick FC), Anakin Skywalker ship. Diomedes was born with a certain sensitivity to the Force, but unfortunately he was also born on Kessel. A miner from a young age under the orders of a different crime lord seemingly every year, he wasn’t able to learn what this feeling was or how to use it, instead he just tried to shove it done to continue doing what was best for his family. Until his family dies, so he sneaks onto the first ship out of the planet. How was he supposed to know it was a government ship for Senator Palpatine? But the man didn’t hurt him, no, he sensed the power in him and allowed him to stay. Which leads to him meeting Anakin Skywalker.

Leonia Dellian (Marina Moschen FC), Obi-Wan Kenobi ship. Young Padmé Amidala is a very intelligent and witty young queen, and she would say she owes a lot of that to her longtime teacher and friend Leonia. Someone whose family has been employed in Naboo for many years, Leonia is the latest Dellian to serve the family. Her role is part advisor, part teacher, but she has grown to truly care about the girl. Which means when she has to accompany the masquerading young queen on the desert planet Tatooine, she figures it can just be a learning experience and deal with the annoying Jedi along the way. Except Obi-Wan isn’t as annoying as she first thought, at least until he realizes she knows more about Jedi ways than she first let on.

Orion Arcoum (Ben Barnes FC), Anakin Skywalker ship. Besides Padmé Amidala, there was another love of Anakin Skywalker’s. Orion Arcoum. He wasn’t a young royal or a slave on Tatooine or a Jedi. He was just Orion. A poet facing a world of war, a normal boy in a galaxy of improbabilities, a lover who doesn’t get to be loved. They met on a Jedi mission, before Anakin’s reunion with Padmé, and despite the rule of no attachments, they stayed in touch the best they could. Even having meetings on different planets once Orion got his own ship to travel and continue his artistry. But over time, especially once reunited with Padmé, Orion noticed that something was growing within Anakin.

Polaris Tane (Freddy Carter FC), Anakin Skywalker ship. Senator turned Chancellor turned Emperor Palpatine has had many apprentices over the years, one of the youngest being Polaris. He grew up on Naboo. His parents, dark users of the Force, were always trying to be close to Palpatine. They never really succeeded, but Polaris did. Polaris, because of the darkness Palpatine could sense in the child. In an ironic twist of fate, his parents ignoring him for Palpatine is precisely why he succeeded where they failed. He had a hungrier darkness. Polaris thought he was going to be the star pupil, then Anakin Skywalker shows up.

OG Trilogy

Feneca Calrissian (Ncuti Gatwa FC), Leia Organa ship. Feneca had always grown up following his brother Landonis, Lando and Fen, close as can be. Even when his brother went into smuggling, Feneca joined him. They meet Han Solo, they befriend him, Feneca does more with him, and then Lando loses their beautiful ship to him. So while Lando retired the smuggling business and decided to become an entrepreneur, Fen didn’t. He continued on through the galaxy, enjoying his time and finally separating himself from his brother. Until somehow Fen finds himself involved in a rebellion he had no plans on joining

Navaru Organa (Sam Claflin FC), Han Solo ship. Luke may have been Leia’s brother by birth, but Navaru says he was her brother longer. Adopted by the Organa’s just after Leia was, he has always been close to his sister. He joins the Rebellion with her, always officially acting as the carefree prince to get his way into different conversations with various leaders full of information that’s important to the cause. But when Leia gets taken, he has to go on his own journey to find the droids, a journey that leads him right to Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

Rigel Arcoum (Jenna Coleman FC), Luke Skywalker ship. The daughter of Orion Arcoum, Rigel grew up as far away from the war torn planets as possible. She grew up knowing about the Force, about the Jedi, but she also grew up with a father who feared what it could do to her. So she had a simple life, even if she wanted more. Her father’s voice in her ear warning her away from what she saw in her dreams, the reminders that he didn’t want to lose her, so she agree to stay away. She stays away except for when her father’s friend needs parts. Parts she can find from a not very welcoming bar. A bar that sends her straight to Luke Skywalker and the very war and Force she was supposed to be staying away from.

Sequels

Adonis Dameron (Gregg Sulkin FC), Finn & Rey & Poe Dameron ship. Formerly known as AD-8632, Adonis was a Stormtrooper. Raised from birth to serve the First Order and do whatever is asked. But when he was given an order he just couldn’t follow, the killing of a mother protecting her young son, he deserted. He abandoned his post, his ideals, his life, all for the risk and chance that he was wrong. And after his ship crashed not far from a Rebellion base, he was found by Poe Dameron. AD-8632 chose the name Adonis, well, it was taken by him when Poe asked “What are you, some kind of Adonis?” and was given the last name Dameron when he told Poe he has no family. And before he knew it, Adonis was training with the Rebellion. He became a pilot with Poe, became Poe’s partner, and so it was a no brainer to be on the mission of the Luke Skywalker map. Adonis didn’t know that he would end up helping a fellow Stormtrooper escape, or that he would wake up on a junkyard of a planet with the Stormtrooper and meet a scavenger who has won the appeal of BB-8

Saiph Skywalker (Zoey Deutch FC), Rey ship. The daughter of Rigel Arcoum and Luke Skywalker, Saiph knew she had to train to be worthy of Jedi Master title. Both of her parents may have learned late in life, but they were both war heroes. Her aunt and uncle were heroes. She had to rise to the occasion, just like her cousin Ben. But things went wrong at the temple. Her lessons were going great but Ben’s…she knew he was struggling, she had wanted to help him, and then it all went up in flames with her barely surviving. Ben was gone, replaced by Kylo Ren. Her father was gone, a solitude she could understand but hurt her deeply, his role beginning to be filled by her uncle Han. And she had to fight to try to keep herself from succumbing to the same darkness. Perhaps her grandfather Orion was right about the Force, so she tried to suppress it as she fights with her aunt Leia. Until she meets Rey

Stella Solo (Elle Fanning FC), Poe Dameron ship. Stella was Force sensitive, yes, but she was never on the level her brother Ben was. He was the one that Uncle Luke truly wanted to train, Stella was just there to soak up and support. Except for the incident. The incident that cost her her whole family, her parents separating and her uncle secluding and her brother…she didn’t want to think of him. Which was fine with her, she could shift her interests to other pursuits, she wanted to keep the royal family of Organa alive. Princess of an exploded planet like Alderaan didn’t sound like a gig anyone wanted, but Stella enjoyed the title and what came with it. Her mother was a hero, it seemed like she was just a princess. One of the few that knew her strength was her favorite Resistance member Poe, and when his life is danger she decides she will prove that she is her mother’s daughter.

My steddie brain never rests. And neither will I!! Bwahahahaha! *cough cough* Sorry about that.

Eddie is a pirate captain. He is a known terror of the Seven Seas. His ship The Hellfire is known by its fearsome Jolly Roger. The skull has devil's horns and has a cutlass and musket on either side.

His first mate is Jeff and his cabin boy is Dustin.

He has a very dedicated crew. They are loyal to a fault and fiercely protective of their captain.

He is a thorn in the side of Lt. Jason Carver. The man tasked to bring him in.

Eddie has been captured a few times, but always his crew mounts a daring escape.

Final Eddie is caught and Carver isn't going to wait until morning to hang him and give his crew time to save him. He knows he'll catch hell for it later, but Eddie must be stopped.

When Carver comes to get him, he finds Eddie looking out the window at the night sky.

"Praying, Munson?" he sneers. "I didn't think your kind believed in God."

Eddie shakes his head. "No God. I worship starlight."

"Starlight?" Carver mocks. "What's so special about starlight?"

"When the moon is new and the stars stretch on forever," Eddie explains a little breathless, never taking his eyes from the window high above him, "you can find your way if you let the North Star lead you. That's what I believe in. The North Star."

Carver scoffs. "You sound like you're in love with a distant twinkle, Munson. I always knew you were mad, but this takes the cake."

Eddie shakes his head ruefully. "Oh that I could love a star, that it could love me back."

Carver motions to his men and they haul him to his feet.

They take him out to the scaffold where the noose is waiting for him. They put the rope around his neck and he whispers. "Goodbye, sweetheart."

Tears run down his face as they tighten the noose. He closes his eyes.

But before they could pull the handle that would send Eddie plummeting to his death a bright light appears blinding everyone but Eddie because his eyes were closed.

He feels a soft warm hand touch his cheek. "Keep your eyes closed for me, won't you?"

Eddie nods. He doesn't know what's going on but even through his eyelids he can tell the light is too bright.

Suddenly there are sounds of screaming and of people being ripped apart. Eddie squeezes his eyes further shut.

Then the rope is being removed from his neck. "Don't open your eyes yet, love," the warm voice murmurs in his ear.

Eddie shivers but not because of the chill of the night, but because the voice sent a sharp thrill straight to his gut.

Then he's being picked up and carried bridal style. Whoever this is keeps telling him he's all right, that he's safe now.

He get set down gently on his feet.

"You may open your eyes now."

And Eddie does only to be greeted by the most ethereal being he's ever seen.

His hair is dark brown with golden highlights and he has hazel eyes. He's wearing robes that shimmer in the light and he gives off a subtle glow.

"Thank you," Eddie murmurs.

The man gives him a gentle kiss. "I will always watch out for you, my beloved Eddie."

"What's your name?"

"Stella Polaris."

Then in a flash he's gone. He makes it back to his ship and tells them the tale.

They don't believe him at first but whenever a battle is turning against them, a light flashes, blinding their enemies and ensuring their victory.

Eddie makes it back to England and is talking to a scholar, getting the old man drunk in a bar.

He says he's an amateur astronomer and Eddie pumps he for information because of his own love of the stars. And he brings up the North Star.

"Ah," the old man says with a nod. "Stella Polaris, the star that is polar. The one star in the sky you can always rely."

And Eddie is floored. His rescuer was the actual North Star.

That night laying in bed at the inn, Eddie says, "My own star. Well, I'll be damned."

Then Stella Polaris arrives in his room.

Eddie leaps from the bed and kisses him senseless.

"Stella Polaris is a bit of a mouthful for every day, sweetheart," Eddie murmurs between heated kisses. "What should I scream when you fuck me?"

The star laughs. "You can call me Steve."

"Well, come on, then, Stevie," Eddie coos wagging his eyebrows. "The night is young and I have been aching for you since you rescued me."

They tumble into the bed and have sex. The next morning comes, and Eddie wakes up to find a small little starburst scar just a above his heart that he'll later get tattooed.

The Ohmsford household is filled with peace and quiet of the approaching night. You are already in your nightgown, preparing yourself a herb tea from the mint and lemon balm that’s growing on Wil’s garden. Fire in the fireplace crackles, as the wood burns, warming up the whole hut, leaving it cozy.

Wil promised Stella they will stargaze today. Wil loves stars and starry sky, and since Stella is totally Daddy’s little girl, it’s something she’s grown fond to as well. You take the cup into your hand, the surface of it warm thanks to the tea.

The wooden floor crackles under your bare feet, and you walk towards the door on the garden. When you open them, you step on the porch, the summer night breeze is warm. As you walk forward, you lean against the railing, and you see them…

Wil is lying in the grass, his gaze up on the sky, his arms behind his head. And next to him - Stella. If you didn’t know she is your snd Wil’s daughter, you would almost say her and Wil are twins. There is high resemblance between them, the pointy ears, ocean blue eyes, sandy blonde hair…

Stella is lying beside him, exactly the same way. Her little arms crossed behind her head, hair messy, her legs crossed as she looks up at the sky as well. You hear them talking, Stella’s voice soft. “Daddy, why do stars twinkle?” she asks curiously.

Wil smiles, happy to see she shares the passion for stars as well. “Well, ladybug, they twinkle because they’re dancing through the sky's shimmer. The air between us and them makes their light sparkle like fairy dust.” he explains for her to understand. And it’s the cutest thing ever.

Stella nods and looks up again, watching the stars twinkle. “Do stars have names?”

“Oh yes, many do. Some are named by ancient heroes, some by dreamers. And some... we name ourselves. Like that one there,” he points at the sky. “that’s the Laughing Star. I named it after your giggle.” Wil pokes her tiny nose and she giggles, exactly the way he loves.

“That’s silly, daddy! What about that big one? The shiny one?” she asks again, pointing at the sky. Wil follows her gaze and sees Polaris. “That one is called Polaris. People believe that this star used to guide sailors and travelers home.”

Stella nods, taking in the information, her little wheels in her head turning. “Can we go there someday?” When you hear her ask this, you can help but feel your heart swelling with affection. She is so innocent and small…

Wil smiles, snd turn his gaze towards her. “Maybe not with our feet, but with our hearts and dreams? Absolutely. You are good at traveling through wonder, sweetheart.” At that Stella smiles. “And daddy, do stars ever get lonely? Like they feel sad?” she asks again, so curiously.

He rubs her head, his palm feeling her soft hair under his touch. “Only when no one looks up to see them. That’s why we watch them, so they know they’re loved, you know?” Stella nods, and lays closer to Wil. She snuggles closer, yawning softly, her tiny hand curling around his finger.

“And daddy?”

“Yes, darling?”

“Why did you and mommy named me Stella?” You smile and you lean closer, wanting to hear what Wil will reply. He smiles softly and rubs her cheek with his thumb. “Because, my starlet, the night you were born, the sky looked just like this. Your mommy and I saw the brightest star shining right above us. ‘Stella,’ mommy whispered. In latin, it means star. And we knew—it was you.”

Stella’s eyes brighten, sparkling almost the same way the stars do above them. “I love my name. I wanna be a star too!”

Wil chuckles and scoots Stella closer, pressing a kiss to her hair. “You already are, little one. The brightest in my sky.” He lifts her in his arms, her head resting on his shoulder. As they walk down back to their cozy hut, a warm light spills from the window. You’re still on the porch, watching them with a soft smile.

“You two were out late tonight.” you grin, and Wil chuckles softly, lifting Stella bit higher. “The stars had much to say. And so did Mrs. Star.” Stella lifts her head sleepily. “Mommy...Daddy said stars dance. And... and I’m a star too...”

You giggle, and lean in to kiss her cheek. “You are, my darling. The best kind, the kind that shines even when your eyes are closed.” you ruffle her sift hair gently. “Say goodnight to mama, little starling.”

Stella keeps snuggling deeper into Wil’s shoulder. “Goodnight, mommy... I love you as big as the moon!” she mumbles tiredly. “And I love you as deep as the sky.” you whisper and watch Wil carry her to her room. He carries her to her small wooden bed, carved with little stars. He tucks her in with her favorite blanket, soft as moss, and places her favorite stuffed owl beside her.

“Sleep well, Stella. Dream of dancing among stars.” Wil brushes a blonde curl from her forehead, then quietly tiptoes back to the main room. You’re there, waiting, watching him with eyes full of warmth. He smiles and tucks you closer to him. “You always know just what to say to her.” you smile back, hugging him.

“She makes it easy... She sees the world the way I wish more people did, full of wonder, not questions that need answers.” You grin, your heart dancing with happiness. “She has your eyes… your hair, and your ears. But she wonders like I did when I was a girl.”

Wil chuckles and gently takes your hand in his. “The night you said her name for the first time... I knew it was perfect. Stella. Our little star.” You let out a soft sigh, your head against his shoulder. “She shines, doesn’t she? Even when the world feels heavy.”

“Especially then.” A silence falls between you, not empty, but peaceful, like the quiet just before a star falls across the sky. “Thank you... for giving her this magic.” you say, kissing his cheek. Wil smiles and kiss your forehead. Then he looks towards Stella’s room. “It’s hers already. I’m just lucky enough to witness it.”

i should start off by saying most of this is about art specifically because i adore all the symbolism and motifs that go into it :] i reaaally love how things get translated into art and how they form their own canon. i also really like how aces character relates to his parents, which i think would be really cool to relate to christian iconography. for example, one of the virgin marys titles is stella maris, which translates to star of the sea (i adoooore that title for her btw), usually represented by either a star on her shoulder or head if im remembering that correctly (duccio's maesta has it on her head).

i like the idea of that then relating to polaris as the north star and a guiding star in navigation, which i also think works well if you see rouge as a guiding light for ace (and if you hc him as a navigator). theres also just really easy iconography to parallel like them as a pieta, which is specifically mary mourning jesus alone like michelangelo's famous sculpture.

such a cool thing to do for rouge and ace!! theres also a throne of grace, which is god and jesus. also really cool thing to do for ace and roger. theres also interesting things to do with the roman catholic conception of immaculateness, which is basically lacking the stain of sin. such a fascinating thing to apply to ace, who despite being seen as the sin of the world, never having actually sinned?? ohhh dont even get me started man... also like the iconography of a dove (holy spirit, and also the concept of peace) for ace, contrasting sabo's ravens is super fun to me. i said it earlier, but ace as the pirate prince having the title prince of peace despite there being a war fought over him.... ohhww it is so scary in here. and just the concept of trinities in general! rouge, roger and ace (or replacing roger with whitebeard :]) or ace, sabo, and luffy... well i think it could be very interesting.
