there is SO much depth and beauty in the stories we hear in sweeney todd. a murderer who was once a doting father, so blind with hatred and anger towards the world that he couldn’t even see his own wife and daughter, staring him right in the face. a woman down on her luck and in love, trying so desperately to make a connection with a deeply broken and disturbed human. an unfortunately innocent and unknowing boy who ended up being the one who could sense the dark truth. a love at first sight that refused to die, even when torn apart by the disgusting perversion of a greedy abuser. sweeney todd is about all of these people, doing absolutely horrible things, all out of some form of love. that’s the beauty of sweeney todd. sweeney killed for a father and husband’s love. lovett baked real people with real lives into pies to maintain a shallow, lustful relationship she impossibly dreamed would bloom into true romance. turpin destroyed an innocent family because he could not contain his ‘love’ for a pretty woman and her daughter. toby slit a throat because his mother figure was all he had, and he loved her, simply and purely, as an innocent child loves a mother. their love is the purest of all in the story.

but my point is — yes, sweeney todd is about a murderer and his accomplice who cannibalizes and sells his victims. but it’s not. sweeney todd is about love. how love is even stronger and more dangerous than the deepest hate. it’s about how love can destroy people. this show is so beautifully, deeply, disgustingly human. and this dark, telling tale is somehow warped into some of the most gorgeous music to ever be written and made hilarious, lovable, and entertaining. musical theatre is truly magic. human nature is love and filth and greed. sweeney todd perfectly embodies both of these ideas.

Smith: but there's a problem Smith: the dearlys adopt ANOTHER dalmatian, perdita Smith: and this dog Smith: is NOT married Barker: and that's a problem huh? Smith: OF COURSE IT'S A PROBLEM Smith: you can't just have this dog slutting it up around town!

Smith: so the married dogs, pongo and missus, go on a merry adventure to save their puppies from the insane woman who wants to skin them for a coat Smith: and when the adventure is over Smith: they need to buy a bigger house to home all their 97 puppies

Smith: luckily mr dearly solved another problem to help the government pay its taxes Poe: wait why does the government have to pay taxes Smith: oh we do things differently in the UK Poe: yeah, evidently

Smith: perdita's original owners come back Smith: and the dearlys are afraid that they'll want perdita back Smith: but they're all "oh we didn't actually like her all that much, you can keep her" Koontz: wait someone doesn't like a dog? Koontz: this is breaking my immersion

Smith: but then some other people come by and they have a dog too Smith: and it turns out that this is perdita's dog husband! Smith: and these people are all "oh, i guess you can have this dog" Smith: "you know, since they're already dog married"

Smith: oh also the dearlys get a cat Smith: the cat also gets married Barker: christ why are all these animals getting married Smith: what, you want them living in sin? Koontz: yeah clive you want them living in sin?? Barker: i just Koontz: that would be immoral clive!!! Barker:

"Avengers Academy" Infinity Comic Gets Print Release

Marvel Comics has announced a print edition of writer Anthony Oliveria and artists Carola Borelli and Bailie Rosenlund's Avengers Academy Infinity Comic series. Avengers Academy: Assemble #1 one-shot will collect the first six issues of the series.

Captain Marvel, wanting to guide the next generation of heroes, has recruited a misfit team of teens - Aaron Fischer / Captain America of the Railways, Bri Brooks / Bloodline, Shela Sexton / Escapade, Lunella Lafayette / Moon Girl, Normie Osborn / Red Goblin, and Justin Jin / Kid Juggernaut. It's that time of the year again. When opinions collide, lines are crossed, swords are drawn. When pants are tightened, jeans are scrutinized and posture is analyzed. That's right, throw shame and embarrassment out of the window, for its the time to decide once and for all (until the next polling season):

Coming in new this year, are Near and Mello (after the timeskip), Naomi (our first human woman representative), Rem (this year's diversity entry from Shinigami realm defending Ryuk's win from last year), Gevanni (making the cut with his excellent arts and crafts project: the fake Death Note ✨).

Defending their spots are last year's winners: Matsuda and Mogi. L and Light are back again, having Protagonist Privilege™️. Aizawa and Rester have teamed up, hoping to work together to improve their ranking this season.

All our contestants have put their best (and worst) foot forward in order to catch Kira. Now, its up to us to reward their struggle and decide who takes away the crown of fattest ass* this year!

Note (*): all mentions of ass in this poll refers to the body part and not the animal. Any misunderstanding otherwise is coincidental and not intended.

When it became known that Lidner was working with Mello on the side and leaking information about the SPK's activities to him, Near chooses to accept it on a don't ask / don't tell basis (except for a couple things he specifically asked she convey). I wonder if it bothered him how she went behind his back though, and if he was disturbed at all by the fact he didn't even realize it for so long.

I also wonder how did her other co-workers feel about it? Did they hold it against her? Did it affect their relationships, did they maintain professional politeness but privately think of her as a traitor, or talk about her behind her back? I can't imagine they would so easily let it slide, especially considering she's in collusion with Mello who ordered the deaths of so many of their previous colleagues. I think it's for sure within their rights to not be happy with her.

It's also worth noting how once they move to Japan she becomes estranged from the SPK, she doesn't know the physical location of their HQ there and is no longer in regular contact with them. The obvious reason for this is because her job as Takada's bodyguard doesn't allow to get much time to connect with them; there's the other practical reason that Near is worried Kira may control her to gain information, so she's intentionally kept at arms length and in the dark about certain things. But could it ALSO be influenced by the fact that she's not proven herself to be entirely trustworthy?

If Near, Rester, and Gevanni did at one point harbor this kind of resentment against her for her actions, they at least appear to have gotten over it after the Kira case. Near keeps in touch with her (or rather, he lets her keep in touch with him) and Rester and Halle are also still contact as we see when they decide to 'drop in' on Near to give him prods and pep talks for both the C and A Kira cases.

Idk, I just find the internal dynamics of the SPK really interesting and deserving of more exploration.
