Ok sooo YES this IS my creature au-thingy, but the idea is that- the ii contestants/spawned in objects are all animal-y because mephone's generation abilities are a combination of the egg's being and also animal dna schematics

So basically, "real" objects in ii's world are more humanoid, while the spawned in objects are more beast-like! So this design is canon to my au :) I still have a creature cobs design tho but it's technically not au compliant.

No I did not have this concept in mind before the big twist (I have the species development of ii evolution rants to prove it) but I think it's a fun idea that allows for mostly canon compliance, except, creature :3

You know how cobs referred to the shimmers as the "Phenomse"? Well I have a few reasons why he might call the shimmers that.

Of course there's the obvious, that it's meant in lue of the extended word, phenomenon(s), but I have another coinciding theory about its true connotation.

Looking at how Cobs used the word "Phenomse" in a scentance;

"From the Phenomse? Well. That's what I always called them."

It seems like he is referring to that mass of all Light Shimmers, so "Phenomse" must truly be some other word, changed through its plurality. The prefix "𝙿𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚘-" can be defined as such; ↓

I think that Steve is trying to pull a "𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 😎" kind of move, by grammatically treating the prefix Pheno- like an individual word, pluralized as Phenomse.

(Cuz like,, uhh, t.he whole "shining" thing an.d uh,h uhh shimmer and shine whooaaoaoaoah /ref) /hj

Thinking about my Inanimate Insanity x Danganronpa fusion AU again and I got a thought (spoiler stuff ig):

MePhone4 as a (failed) Junko Enoshima Alter Ego.

It’s probably a fangan thing, but Alter Egos become more perfect copies when the person being copied is their own creator, since they know themselves the best. Considering that Steve Cobs probably simply read about her and never met her directly, his attempts to clone her inevitably ended in failure.

Of course, those copies get thrown away. Broken.

Four, who saw killing games as a form of entertainment (and escape from Cobs’ abuse), sees this. Either before hosting any killing games or perhaps after his first one (analogous to II season 1) which he is the mastermind of.

Finding about her (?) fate if she falls out of line, ‘Junko’, in fear, acts like the perfect clone Cobs wanted her to be. Even if she doesn’t want to be Junko anymore. (Not even a girl, even.)

She hosts the second killing game. As one does. But she isn’t the mastermind—Cobs is. Just so he could rack up some money and fame. Cuz yes.

She puts up an act as yet another Junko clone, even as Monokuma. Even as she watched the players she created with her own hands get along and having fun despite everything.

If anything… she wants to join them.

Especially so once she sees a certain other failed Alter Ego of a certain Bow (who I’ve decided is the protagonist in this AU), growing out of their roots and into their own identity.

But she couldn’t. Because that’s not what Junko would do in this situation.

That’s not what Steve Cobs wants her to do in this situation.

(If only he could break free from Junko’s shadow and Cobs’ prying eyes.)

SO THATS WHY HE'S TRYING TO BE BETTER ONCE HE MEETS MEPHONE4 AND MEPAD(THEY ARE NOT CURRENTLY IN THE SAME PLACE, STEVE COBS AND THEM DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PLACE IS THROUGH)
