Anniversary Tournament

Last year for Doctor Who's anniversary I ran a tournament between Doctor Who stories, and I wanted to so something different again this year. A tournament between real people important to the history of Doctor Who, actors, writers, producers, directors, composers, production designers. Technically it'll be a tournament for the most infuential person to Doctor Who and its development over the years, but really I want it to be a celebration of all of these people, and not just the winner.

To that end, the nomination form, you can also submit nominations normally, ie sending me an ask or replying to this post, however I won't be accepting propaganda through those methods.

I'm thinking I'll close nominations on the 18th of November, that might change but probably not by much

a city that revels in damage and deformity so long as it's happening to somebody else.

Charogne, ville moyenne nichée dans les babines du diable. Totem d'un "american dream" au goût de fumée qui reste dans la gorge et étouffe toute sa communauté. Là au milieu du Midwest, proche de la ville de Peoria siège cette cité pleine de traces, de marques indélébiles qui auront marqué ces générations et les anciennes.

Charogne nous rappelle ces cités post-industrielles que l'on trouve tout le long du paysage américains du Midwest au sud du pays. Ce paysage tout plein de fantômes et de terreur mais de beauté aussi. La ville alterne à ses extrémités entre ces tableaux de friches industrielles décrépites, presque le signe d'un vampirisme qui a aspiré toute la vie de sa terre. Aussi, les champs de blé à perte de vue, quelques habitations et cette dense forêt à la Constable ou plutôt à la Titien quand il peint son Actaeon bouffé par ses chiens.

Les franges centrales de la ville, renferment les banlieues, cages dorées au vernis qui s'écaille. Les maisons semblent toutes gonflées de l’orgueil de leurs occupants. Ici certains pensent encore qu'ils échapperont à cette malédiction qui semble s'abattre sur la ville depuis sa création. Enfin au milieu le paysage pleinement urbain, le centre-ville, l'université et tout l'éventail de la ville parfaite. Les secrets enterrés bien profondément dans ses sols, sous un bitume qui couvre une nécropole.

Juste une autre ville aux relents d'americana où les cadavres se mêlent au macadam sous un soleil de plomb. Juste une autre ville assez bête pour croire qu'un dieu ou quelconque mythe viendra offrir son aide. Hélas toutes les versions de cette histoire indiquent un abattoir, la violence presque une mélodie obligatoire.

On 4/30/25 I took my 5th visit to The Kit Kat Club after having won tickets from the lottery.

I had been wanting to see Orville Peck from the moment he was announced as Emcee and let me tell you.... After having seen Eddie Redmayne, Adam Lambert as Emcee. Orville Peck has reached a level beyond levels. His performance felt very similar to Eddie Redmayne's bold decisions. A couple of these new choices made my jaw drop, my body shook out of pure terror.

Orville's characterization was TERRIFYING, sexy, dominant, violent, bloodthirsty, and masculine. His voice was deep, rich, something that is very different from the past predecessors who had brighter tenor voices, and it worked immensely well!!!

A couple of my favorite moments were his "Money" he growled and snarled these lines out in such a monstrous way. It felt like a satanic ritual. "I Don't Care Much" was sung with this passion, but there was something furious behind it. A nice drink, added with arsenic. He reminded me a lot of Tim Curry.

During the Finalé, when he took out his conductor's baton and from the angle in which my seat was. It looked like he was trying to split Cliff in half.

Sally Bowles was played by the insane talent that is GABI. CAMPO. I was wanting to see her as Sally Bowles after hearing about her vocals and unhinged interpretation. I think she was quite possibly my favorite Sally I've EVER seen next to Gayle Rankin and Auili'i Cravalho. Gabi's Sally characterization was MANIC like I've never seen before and reminded me sooooooooo much of Harley Quinn.

We were also sitting in the part of the Mezzanine where she first appears and she walked through the aisle and waved to us during "Willkommen".

Her "Cabaret" was Angry. Devastating. Unstable. I have NEVER heard an audience clap like that before in my life!! 😭

Ellen Harvey is Fraulien Schneider who I had never heard of previously. She was sooooo funny, got a lot of laughs, and broke my heart with her rendition of "What Would You Do?" I loved her chemistry with Steven Skybell. She was outstanding!!!

Harry Styles Invests in British Brand S.S. Daley

FLORENCE, Italy – As Steven Stokey-Daley’s fall show in Florence during Pitti Uomo wrapped, the British designer, the 2022 recipient of the LVMH Prize for Young Designers, revealed longtime fan Harry Styles is acquiring a minority stake in the company.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Harry and I have a shared vision for the future of S.S. Daley and we look forward to this new chapter together as we focus on brand longevity and scaling the business into a modern British heritage house,” the designer, 26, said.

The pair was introduced by Styles’ stylist Harry Lambert, who masterminded the wardrobe for the artist’s “Golden” music video, outfitting him in Stokey-Daley’s graduate collection.

The investment is geared at building S.S. Daley’s direct-to-consumer business and forge ahead with plans for a “sustainable and long-term expansion,” the company said in a statement.

After graduating from the University of Westminster, Stokey-Daley made his London Fashion Week debut in September 2021 supported by the National Youth Theatre artistic director Paul Roseby, staging a four-part performance by members of the theater, riffing on British tailoring and tackling such topics as social class, inequality, school life, sexual awakening and homosexuality.

That same year, the S.S. Daley designer was among the recipients of the British Fashion Council’s Newgen initiative and was awarded again by the British fashion governing body the following year, with the BFC Foundation Awards.
