“ Why does everyone look so damn gloomy? I know this is a Halloween fair, but unless you’re PLAYING a part, you’re allowed to have fun, drink something spiked, leave your kid with a clown,” she suggested, oblivious to the news that had hit the town earlier that day. She wasn’t very in touch with the town’s current stories until long after they happened usually.

Rowan couldn’t go home yet, despite having noticed the amount of people running in the direction of their cars, as well as people filing into cars of friends, not having expected the sudden change of weather. But the brunette didn’t care, when she set her mind to something, there was no changing her mind. So, with her struggling through the blizzard, doing everything to dodge hail to the face, the young college student made a beeline for the library. Blowing desperately on her now blue finger tips, the cold only getting worse, she wasn’t paying much attention to her surrounding or just how icy the sidewalk was becoming and before she knew it, the girl went full speed ahead, colliding into the pole just outside the library, books flying EVERYWHERE.
“ OUCH, ” she mumbled quietly “ for fork’s sake ,” she cried out, now flat on her back, debating on whether or not to just stay there or get up.

When the storm started, Rosana was in a small restaurant. She figured she could wait for the storm to pass, surely it would. But instead of calming down, it got even worse as she was plunged into darkness. And now not only was she stuck with strangers, but she was stuck with strangers in dark, and there was nothing else she hated more than this. Wrapping a coat a little tighter around her shoulders, the girl sank a little deeper into her chair before whispering. “This would’ve never happened in New York.”

Taking a sip from the glass that was right in front of him, Andrei started at the other person silently for a moment. He’d expected people would wonder about the case, but he was just as clueless as everyone else. “I don’t know more than you, and even if I did, I would not be telling you anything.” He finally replied, perhaps a little colder than intended. He really just came here to make sure everyone was fine, and to get a drink.

He shouldn’t have been, though it was undeniable, a small part of Asher was highly intrigued by the news that hit the office that morning. After all, he was a crime scene examiner for a reason. But such thoughts, he kept to himself, instead allowing himself to nerd out in the confinements of the office or his home. Now, he was on duty, on high alert. His fingers drumming against his radio in anticipation as he browsed the crowd, taking everything in, unaware of the approaching person.

It’s not like Georgie ever meant to be rude. It just sort of happened. Her mouth received words and just said them before her brain really had any time to process whether or not it was a good idea, so being tossed out of her professor’s office hours for the third time (because calling a professor an iidiot who spent more time talking about his ex-wife instead of teaching wasn’t particularly good), Georgie just needed to smoke a cigarette and not talk to anybody. However, the latter proved to be a little difficult when she had come to find that her lighter had been misplaced. She grumbled to herself, and looked to someone nearby. “Hey, uh. Do you have a light?”
#sthqs:start#this is bad as heck but#also doesnt have to be the person she's asking can just be some passerby

The sudden icy cold temperatures were alarming, even to him with inside information on Hawkins Lab and aware of all the strange happenings beyond the gates. It was unexpected, but easily connected to the accidental unleashing of a beast within the confinements of the laboratory. Fortunately few have looked toward the place, but Archibald was in town to ensure that, that didn’t change, with a large coat and all the works to keep him warm, he stalked the streets of Hawkins on his way back from the local bar, he’d needed a drink if he was going to be able to put up with small town folk. But as he turned the corner, he heard approaching footsteps striking a chord inside him and triggering a flashback to his time as a Navy SEAL, resulting in him acting quicker than intended, SLAMMING a figure against the window of a closed shop, a dark, dangerous glare in his eyes as he spoke in a hoarse tone. “ Whatever it is you want, you’re NOT getting it from me. ”
#sthqs:start#violence tw#ptsd tw#sort of#idk this is trash and i hope it makes sense? but like idk he's just having flashbacks and apparently i only know how to do dramatic starters

“Look, man. It’s been a really hard year. Kurt Cobain is dead, now some boy is missing. I get that we are all under stress here but there is no reason you need to take it out on me. Fuck you and your no blasting music after midnight rule. This is how I cope.” Cade was not happy as he flipped the person off gathering his stuff as he prepared to flee the scene.
#sthqs:start#this is awful#i'm sorry#if it doesn't work let me know#i can change this#assume connections#he's probably yelling at someone else#and he was obsessed with kurt cobain

It really was just like him, to get stuck in a storm. Elliott had thought he’d be able to make it home before it got too bad, but he obviously was wrong. Even with his coat tightly wrapped around him, it was far too cold outside, not to mention the snow was making it hard to even walk. Oblivious to the fact the power was now out, he pushed open the first door he could, quickly stepping inside. Only to realize it wasn’t quite warmer inside than outside, and it was surprisingly dark. Not quite sure where he landed, Elliott made a few steps inside the place, squinting his eyes to try and see where he was. “Is... anyone here?” He finally asked after a moment.

Halloween. Always one of those holidays that was either a hit or miss for Rowan. It was enjoyable when she was younger, dressing up and wandering from door to door for candy but now it was more stressful than anything. Even more so, this year. With the rumor mill fresh and townsfolk gossiping among themselves, Rowan was half tempted to make a run for it but she couldn’t. Being a college student, she needed the extra cash and a promise was a promise and this year, she’d promised to work the fair. Dressed in her PINK LADIES costume to ensure comfort while still, hopefully being recognized, she made her way reluctantly through the crowd, flashing the occasional friendly smile at familiar faces.
With a decent thirty minutes to spare, she took her time getting to her post. Eventually coming to a halt just as she caught a glimpse of the short line up to the concession stand, it was then that she decided on a pit stop. After all, what was a Halloween carnival without the delectable taste of hot apple cider to keep you warm.
Making her way toward the stand, set on getting her fix before she’d be stuck working for who knew how long, she was taken aback by the BICKERING that broke out in front of her. A couple that seconds ago seemed to be having a dandy time, now shouting in each other’s faces, popcorn flying through the air. Parents guarding their kids as they quickly slipped past, shaking their heads in disapproval.
But then, then there was Rowan, frozen in place with her eyes glued on the couple, half-intrigued, though also highly terrified by the outbreak. Chewing on her bottom lip, Rowan mumbled mostly to herself, half hoping someone else would overhear her, “ Should someone stop them? Or would that do more harm than good, do you think?”
#sthqs:start#sthqs:event1#e; halloween fair#also shit idk why it's this long don't feel obligated to match at all i get carried away#idk if this needs a tw ? so if it does let me know ? i apologize

Rosana gave a silent eyeroll at the other, clearly unimpressed by what they had to say. Mentally, she could only wonder how the other hadn’t picked up on her lack of interest for what they had to say. The girl was only waiting for the right moment to speak up and tell them to leave, which only came after a few long minutes. “Look, I don’t mean to be rude, but you’re as boring as those decorations are horribly not scary. If you could please just... go bother someone else? Please?” Rosa said, not minding much if she offended the person or not. This place was already boring, she didn’t need anyone to make it worse.

Despite the storm still going on outside, Andrei couldn’t stay locked in his apartment. Not when one of his own coworkers had been found dead. So naturally, he found his way to the pub, shortly after ordering a glass. Which remained nearly even touched, far too concerned and affected by the news. His fingers were drumming against the glass, his head leaned in his other hand. “What’s wrong with this town?” He whispered, mostly to himself, but it’d be no surprise if someone else heard.
#sthqs:event2#sthqs:start#he needs more threads!!#also that plot drop was perfect for a new starter for him#death tw#only mention though

“ For Christ's sake, if this is the zombie apocalypse, I for one, would’ve liked a better heads up. I have hardly finished up my underground bunker, and would DEFINITELY prefer for the apocalypse to wait for summer.” Teddy spat out, staring out from inside of Bradley’s Big Buy. They were hoping to stalk up on snacks and sugary beverages before having a horror movie night but given the circumstances, that seemed to be out of the question. So, instead, like the other’s snowed inside the confinements of the store, Teddy just gazed out. “ I for one hope it’s aliens, I’d love to be abducted. Think about the possibilities.” They continued to spit out nonsense, not caring who was listening in.
