Gonna put the thumbnail extra cause hhhhh I prefer putting my Cyberpunk vids as 18+ only to avoid fuckery with Youtube xD

But yeh anyway... I did a very simple video for Kerry's version of "Chippin' In" before, then a more complex one for "Major Crimes", and I've wanted to make a vid for "Kill the Messenger" too cause they're all huge faves of mine of the soundtrack. And I'm that kind of person who always imagines all the scenarios for certain songs (and so many lines in Kill the Messenger line up so good with stuff that happens in the main story imo SO... here we go). I got plans for one more to "Never Fade Away" but I still gotta record some scenes for it 👀

It's not the full version of the song, and it's not perfect, but: it's finished xD And I really like it how it is, learning a little more with each new vid (really dove a bit into what's possible with color grading cause the game is so dark and bleak sometimes, fittingly depressing xD).

Anyways... wanted to share it here too cause I teased about it earlier.

i organized my streaming stuff. i might readjust some of the placements as i didn't have time to do it earlier. most of it was done before work and then when i got home i did the rest before dinner.

but yeah finally organized. i'm glad u could make folders, I had way to much cr4p on my obs. i had like 15+ things, so making folders just makes it easier.

i wish u could delete the scene transitions as i don't really use them. i mean i might in the future,but idk;must likely not. but that's why the scene tab and the scene transition tab are 1. on the bottom and 2. together so i don't have to mess with them.

but yeah i wish i could get rid of them,cuz they're just taking up space on the screen.

also i only set this up via obs, not on streamlabs or twitch studios on my pc.

i didn't do it on streamlabs as streamlabs for me is broken for some reason. for some reason the chat never loads in and idk what ppl are saying to me and after a few hrs the stream freezes and its on a standstill/looks like a photo, and nothing will move.

the reason i don't have it on twitch studios is there's no point if i'm gonna get a gaming pc soon,anyways so instead of having to do it 4 times(obs and twitch studios on current pc and on the new one),just gonna do it once on this pc. then when i get the new pc all i gotta do is copy and paste the url's to myself and look at what their properties are and basically match them up on obs. then will do the same for streamlabs and twitch studios.

STREAM AND OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

I have good news and I have bad news; you've probably already guessed the bad. I'm not streaming today.

The good news is, with my work schedule going back to what it was before the new job training, I SHOULD be able to resume the Saturday stream schedule, provided the constant disruptions to my sleep schedule haven't completely fucked up my body. We won't know until next Saturday, 03/05.

In addition, I am also taking today to begin the process of moving my commands from StreamLabs to Nightbot and my merchandise to StreamElements. No longer streaming through StreamLabs will take more time. I attempted to switch to OBS, but it is not friendly enough for my ADHD.

To elaborate, it's not "pretty" enough to keep me engaged, nor is it user-friendly enough. So, if anyone knows of any "pretty," user-friendly alternatives to OBS, or quick ways to make OBS friendly enough for my ADHD, I am open to suggestions. Until then, I shall have to stream through StreamLabs.

obs stands for open broadcast software, and it's a program that helps you set up scenes/an overlay (basically, what your viewers will see when they watch your livestream). it connects to whatever website you're livestreaming on (for example, twitch) and is what sends the info from your computer to the livestream, basically. i might be explaining that completely wrong but it's fine. if i can use it while barely knowing what it does or how it works, so can you!!!!

there are other programs you can use too, but i'm pretty sure obs is the most popular, which means it's the easiest to find tutorials + resources for and stuff.

ANYWAY -- you can just share your screen directly to stream, and that's fine! it's what i did on picarto for a long time. but if you want to add a bunch of crap on TOP of your screen -- like a vtuber model, or an overlay (in streaming "overlay" is used to refer to all kinds of decorative stuff on a livestream besides the main video content, like a background, a frame, a box to show what people are typing in chat, little alerts on who recently subbed or followed, etc), or cool animated transitions when you switch between different setups, OBS is how you handle all that.

here's a screencap from one of my streams as an example:

you can basically think of it as kind of the same as a drawing program -- all of these different parts go on different layers, and then you arrange them in front of or behind each other to get the look you want. maybe i just think this way bc i kind of have a lounge/theatre theme with stage curtains and stuff, but i also kind of think of it as a set for a play or a puppet show.

some of the more interactive stuff in this screencap, like the chat mirror and the little scrolling text that shows recent follow/sub/dono, needs external stuff like streamlabs or streamelements to get set up. this is a lot of text and i hope it's not overwhelming lol -- there is so much stuff to learn when u get into it and for me it was best to just take it one step at a time, so i won't get into that rn. stuff that's purely decorative is easy to try out when you're just getting started, so i recommend focusing on just OBS first!

you do not need to do all this crap if you don't want to! if you want to just use OBS to stream a fullscreen view of your drawing program/etc and put your vtuber on top, that's fine too, and tons of people do that. (a lot of people prefer that, bc it allows the focus to be more on what you're actually doing; cute overlays are fun, but they can get cluttered). but i've ended up finding out that customizing an overlay is one of the parts i enjoy the most, even though it can get a little complicated or tedious sometimes, so i really recommend trying it out. i went through a few much simpler overlays at first to get the hang of it, and i've been slowly adding more stuff as i learn more!

November/December Update

I wouldn't blame you if you forgot I streamed. It has really been a while. However, I have never stopped thinking about streaming. A lot has happened since I was able to stream regularly, not even in my life, but in the streaming world. Twitch's blunders making a lot of people consider or even straight up switch to YouTube and StreamLabs' fall from grace to name the two most notable events. I'll be addressing both here.

Where the hell have you been loca??

Literally just school. Lmao idk how to elaborate further. I just finished a couple of exams so I should definitely have free time, and I would start now, but given recent events I am in the middle of some technical changes behind the scenes.

What's planned?

Absolutely nothing is set in stone yet, but I have Winter holidays coming up which will grant me a lot more free time, so I'm definitely taking advantage of that, I have a few ideas for a marathon 👀. Also, my birthday is also in December so I am absolutely gonna do something for that, stay tuned!

Well... where are you gonna stream?

This is gonna be controversial, but I'm gonna stick with Twitch. A lot of this is down to me just despising how I can't close the app without Premium, which is something I do with Twitch all the time. Not only that, but raids are one of the coolest features of Twitch (not hate raids though of course, fuck hate raids), and on YouTube, I don't ever watch a specific streamer consistently enough to want to raid them (oh sorry, Live Redirect them). These two opinions are entirely subjective, I know, but I have yet to warm up to the idea. If more of the streamers I watch move to YouTube, I'll reconsider, but for now, I'm staying put. If its an issue, I can look into multistreaming, but that is a short term solution until I am absolute in my decision.

About you using SLOBS...

Gone. Uninstalled. Fuck StreamLabs. I installed it initially because Touch Portal was being a bitch when I was messing with network settings, and I didn't wanna pay for the Stream Deck app, and I just got sucked into the ecosystem. I am going back to my roots of OBS and StreamElements, and this time I'm a LOT more prepared. I realised that it might actually be viable to start using the designs I promised last update! With SLOBS, since overlays are on-device, I had to choose between 90% CPU utilisation or massive files too big for my HDD to read real time. I'll have to compress them a small bit (and I'm talking 1 or 2MB here) but it's looking a lot more realistic now.

I'm still in the moving stages right now. I just simply haven't had the time I want to dedicate to making the transition as thorough as possible, and it's a big proponent as to why I'm not streaming right now.

This went on longer than I expect it, but I think it's necessary. I'm not quitting streaming yet and I'm excited to bring more to you guys!

Bad bots were all over my stream yesterday. I figure if they're gonna keep setting off my "new follower" alert, I might as well make a better one. For the old one I tried to go for a "3D animation pre-rendered into a janky 2D sprite" sort of look, and it came out pretty much as intended. But I don't have a space on my overlay dedicated to alerts, so I just stuck it over my face cam area where the transparency made it look a bit awkward and messier than I meant.

So I thought I'd try making a non-transparent animation that would "take over" my face cam box when it goes off. Static cut in, go through the 2-second animation, static cut back to face cam. The only problem with this is Streamlabs apparently only allows transitions on the end of alerts and not hard cuts, so I had to make the static longer at the end so it has time to fade out before it loops the animation. It kinda messes up the intended effect, but not terribly so.

I rendered a PNG sequence from Blender, giving me 90 frames of just the animated Leko on a transparent background. Then I went into the computer room file I made for the channel trailer animation and rendered a still to use for the background.

I imported everything into After Effects, slapped some blur on the background, added white noise for the in/out static, and made the scanline effect by cleverly applying a horizontal mosaic filter to some more white noise and dropping opacity to around 5%.

And no, I DON'T know why I felt the need to explain in such detail how I made a 4-second animation. It did come out pretty good, though, so maybe I was just feeling uncharacteristically proud for a change.
