Thanks, PDF Reader Pro offers free trials and special education discounts. But PDF Reader Pro seems to prioritize Mac as well, which is such a nice change! I hope to keep using this for a long long time. One of the things that I noticed about Foxit was that Mac seemed to be a second priority next to Windows, where features and help articles almost always applied only to Windows and not to Mac. And although it’s only been about a week, I think they’re right! 5 stars for this feature-rich and easy to use software, and for top-notch customer support so far (I had accidentally purchased a Windows license, and they quickly helped me resort it out). I heard about PDF Reader Pro on Reddit recently, where lots of people were saying that it was the best option for Mac. But I kept finding that it was quite annoying to use, lacking certain features, having a confusing interface for basic things, etc. I was using a Foxit PDF editing software on my Mac for the last few years, because I heard it was the best a while back. Microsoft Excel: How Do You Strikethrough?
Microsoft 365 - You can add a strikethrough or checkmark to excel to accomplish the tasks. There are many ways to manage strikethrough excel. This clearly indicates that Strikethrough can be used to draw the line by using a cell value. The MS Office Word offers the ability to strike using a text on the ribbon's home tab.
Tumblr media
It is easy to use the excel strikethrough. Excel does not allow us to directly apply the strikethrough to any cell. This doesn't necessarily mean you can't do this. This article will show you how to use strikethrough excel in multiple ways. Let's talk about different ways to use strikethrough excel.
Shortcut Key allows you to strikethrough a cell
The keyboard shortcut is a great way to save time and not waste precious time. To apply for strikethrough excel within a cell, use "CTRL+5"
Add a Strikethrough Button To QAT
To access the Quick Access Toolbar, first go to "File" and then tap "Options".
Select the option "Choose commands form" and tap on "Commands not in the Ribbon".
Choose the "Strikethrough" option from the list, and then add the QAT.
Click on the "OK" button to display an icon of QAT. With one tap, strikethrough excel can be applied.
Now you have an icon of QAT which you can use to apply for strikethrough with one tap.
You can also use this button to apply different parts to a particular cell.
Strikethrough using Format Option
It is important to know that although there are not direct options for applying strikethrough in Excel, there is one option you can access in the format options. Follow the below steps:
First, select all cells where you want to execute the command.
To access and open format options, use the shortcut key "ctrl+1".
Click on the Format tab, and tick the mark for the strikethrough excel option.
Simply tap the "Ok” option.
To apply strikethrough, you can use a VBA Code
You will find the Macros codes to work like a charm and here's how to use VBA to strikethrough.
Sub-add strikethrough()
Dim rng As Range
For Every rng In Selection
rng.Font.Strikethrough = True
Next rng
End Sub
This code will allow you to use the excel strikethrough codes within the selected cells. You can also add the shape to create a button.
Use the conditional formatting to apply strikethrough
First, insert the checkbox in the worksheet.
Simply link cell A1 and change its font to white.
Select the cell B1 then go to the Home Tab, "Styles", followed by conditional formatting, and finally the "New Rule" option.
Select the option marked "Use formula to determine which cells to format" to proceed.
Enter "=IF(A1=TRUE/TRUE/FALSE") in the formula input box.
Simply tap on Format and tick the Excel strikethrough box.
Tap twice on the "Ok” option at once.
You will now see the text in the cell when you tick the box. The tab will then get a cut line.
How can I Remove Strikethrough from Excel?
To remove Strikethrough from excel, tap the shortcut key "Ctrl+5" once more.
In a conclusive viewpoint:
We hope you found this article useful in understanding the topic. We also discussed the steps that correspond with excel's strikethrough. However, if you are still left with some of the questions and queries then we recommend you visit the official website that goes by the URL www.office.com/setup. The website contains all the necessary instructions and guidelines for using strikethrough excel without any interruptions or errors.

TOP SIX MICROSOFT EXCEL HACKS
SIX MICROSOFT EXCEL HACKS
MICROSOFT EXCEL HACKS
Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool. It can be used for data analysis, presentation, making models etc. If you understand MS excel well, it can open a new dimension of career options for you.
Tumblr media
AUTOSUM ALL SELECTED CELLS
We all get so used to slow, inefficient ways of doing things that we don’t even look for faster ways.
That is why many Excel users don’t use this simple shortcut for autism all selected cells. You can expedite your number-crunching simply by summing numbers in a contiguous range. The shortcuts are given below:
Windows: Alt +=
macOS: Command + Shift+T
FLASH FILL YOUR CELLS
The filling is such a boring and time taking task!!
Well, you can make it faster in MS Excel by using Flash Fill. Flash fill is the fastest filling function. It fills a column based on the pattern of data it sees in the first column (it helps if the top row is a unique header row).
Suppose the first column has dates formatted like “DD-MM-YYYY” and you want them to all look like “MM/DD/YY,” start typing. By the second cell, Excel should recognise the pattern and display what it predicts you want. If the prediction is right then just hit enter to use them.
If the pattern is hard to recognise and the second cell doesn’t give you an accurate range, then type some more and go to the Data tab and click the Flash Fill button.
You can also use this Microsoft tutorial to learn flash filling cells.
PASTE SPECIAL WITH FORMULAS
Paste special can be used to modify formulas and evaluate numbers with operators. Formulas can be bound to other formulas or named ranges with the use of mathematical operators.
Paste Special dialogue can be accessed from the right-click context menu, or by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + V key combination while pasting data. The dialogue box contains all the paste methods in Excel.
If a huge dataset of numbers is in the decimal format but you want to show them as percentages. That’s where Paste Special comes in.
Type 100 in a cell and copy it,
then, select all the numbers you want to be reformatted,
and select Paste Special,
Click the “Divide” radio button,
You’ve got numbers converted to percentages. This also works to instantly add, subtract, or multiply numbers, obviously.
For learning MS Excel in-depth you can also enrol for this course on Scholarbees.

PIVOT TABLES
Pivot table is arguably the most powerful feature of Excel’A pivot table allows you to extract the significance from a large, detailed data set.
A pivot table is a summary of a large dataset that makes it much easier to parse the information based on certain reference points.
It can be useful for anyone. Suppose you’re a teacher and you have the entire dataset of grades for all your students across all tests for the whole year.
Through a PivotTable, you can narrow down the data to one student for one month or for one specific subject.
For creating a PivotTable,
1. check that all the columns and rows are titled properly.
2. and then select PivotTable on the Insert tab.
3. try the Recommended PivotTables option to check if Excel can pick what’s best for you.
4. You can try the PivotChart, as well. It creates a Pivot Table with a graph to make it easier to understand.
CONDITIONAL FORMATTING
We all do conditional formatting but most of us do it manually. Like colour code the students below 75% attendance with red.
If you apply conditional formatting then most of such colour coding, highlighting, or strikethrough can be done automatically when they meet the criteria set by you.
Excel’s Conditional Formatting can do a lot from putting a border around the highlights to colour-coding the entire table. It can also make a graph into each cell so you can visualize the top and bottom of the range of numbers at a glance. It might be slightly difficult to learn but it is very useful for even laymen users be it teachers, marketers, designers, salesman etc.
Excel provides very advanced conditional formatting options and it allows customisation too. It has a huge library of preset conditions. You can also custom-make conditions and apply multiple conditions as well.
USE $ TO PREVENT SHIFT
Another useful yet simple hack that most people don’t know is the use of $ sign to prevent shifting.
In MS excel upon writing a formula, the reference cells by their position, such as A1. If you copy a formula and paste it in the next cell below, Excel will shift that referenced cell and it would say A2.
Use the dollar sign ($) to prevent shifting. If you type $A$1 and cut and paste it to a new cell the shifting will be prevented.
Let’s take this example:
Say you want to divide everything by 1000. You could do a formula like =(A1/100). But in this case, you won’t be able to change 1000 easily across the sheet if you wished.
So what you can do is put 1000 B1 and use =(A1/B1). But in this case, when you paste it down, it turns to =(A2/B2), then =(A3/B3) so on and so forth. If you use $ sign (A1/$B$1) and then cut and paste in a row, the $B$1 reference will not change and if you wish to change the value of 1000 just go to B1 and change it. Simple.

Tip of the Week: Useful Excel Shortcuts
Tumblr media
When most people think “spreadsheet,” they’re thinking about Microsoft Excel. Yet, for how well-known it is, many people are unaware of many of its capabilities. This is particularly true of the shortcuts available to properly format these spreadsheets. For this week’s tip, we’re sharing a few of these formatting tips.
Quick and Easy Tables
Let’s face it—a spreadsheet full of points and figures isn’t the most comprehensive way to view your data. It is far better to instead format that data into a table, as you can then reorganize it and filter it as needed. Once your data is in a spreadsheet, creating a table is as simple as selecting one of your cells, pressing Ctrl + T, and then hitting Enter.
Handy Formatting Shortcuts
Formatting a spreadsheet is a matter of balance. While it isn’t something you want to spend a ton of time and effort doing, it can add a significant amount of comprehension for the person reviewing it. Shortcuts can help make this formatting less intrusive, and more efficient for you, the person creating the spreadsheet in the first place.
Here are a few select shortcuts that you will likely find useful:
Ctrl + B – Bold
Ctrl + I – Italics
Ctrl + U – Underline
Ctrl + 5 – Strikethrough selected text
Ctrl + 1 – Format box for selection
F4 – repeats the last action
Icon Sets
On the topic of visibility, some trends can be challenging to spot without this kind of added context as well. Excel has icons that can automatically put in a bit of visual context. With the cells you want to add the icons to highlighted, click on Conditional Formatting under the Home tab of the menu. There, the Icon Sets option should appear, where you can select the set of your choosing.
These icons are particularly handy because they are automatically configured to adjust to your data. Let’s assume that you pick the icon set with three arrows. Based on the range your data covers, the lowest third is automatically assigned the downward arrow, the middlemost third has the sideways arrow, and the highest third gets the ascending arrow. With five icons, your range is split into fifths, as your range is automatically divided amongst the icons.

Planning a Story with Excel
As weird as it might sound to some, if you’re more of an architect than a gardener, this method can be a really great way to outline your story or organize your characters. There are several different ways to do this, some more detailed than others, but I’ll share a few ways that i use this method. First, here are a few pros.
PROS -It’s easier to just cut/paste/insert to shuffle the cells around than to scroll through a word document or scribble in the margins of a handwritten outline. -Excel allows you to insert notes on certain cells -You can break everything down into categories that can be viewed all at once versus as different headers of an outline.
Using Headers
In one of my Excel outlines, I have the following headers: plot actions, character notes, villain plot progression, and chapter.
The Plot Action header is where i describe the basic mechanics. Amy decides to rob a bank to pay for Bob’s surgery. She gathers a few allies to plan the heist out. Etc.
Underneath the character notes, I relate how each plot point is caused by a character’s personality, how it changes them, or elaborate on their relationships. Bob is Amy’s ailing husband. Amy is desperate because she’s wracked up too much debt to take on a loan.
If the story has another character as the antagonist (versus nature or something else), I find the villain plot progression a good way to make sure that their plot makes sense and has chronology. How the hero’s actions impact the villain’s plans are also specified here. This is to avoid the villain just sitting on their hands until it’s time for a dramatic confrontation.
Another one of my outlines has only a few headers: action and notes, since I’ve already done my character arcs separately. It’s all up to you and your needs.
Color Coding
Another helpful feature is that you can change the color of each cell to stay organized. Things I’m unsure about are pink, notes are green, and plot points where I’ve reached a fork in the road are blue until I decide which course of action is better. (I don’t delete the other option, I just use strikethrough.)
Character Charts
This one is much more straightforward. I use Excel for basic character charts: age, physical details, basic motivation, theme of their arc, etc.
Hope this was helpful!
