I think I need to take a break from work for a while. first tho, let me explain. this job has been so amazing and life changing, I've seen some of the most beautiful and powerful displays of feminine and sensual energy that I probably would never have seen working outside of the club. and I'm so grateful for that. I learned how to speak more clearly and honestly. also I learned how to do my make up and play up my beauty and sensuality. Most importantly, I learned how to hold boundaries in a relatively safe environment (in most clubs, anyway). It was like having training for the most compromising situations that can occur outside of the club but in an environment with an unusually high amount of security personnel. that generally doesn't exist outside of the club. its a weird thing to be grateful for but I do feel like that's an invaluable experience.

but the inequities of the club environment have just become blindingly clear to me in the last few days. I don't think most management realizes that they're acting with any negativity. this is mostly due to the fact that female labor (and increasingly male labor as well) is detrimentally devalued in our culture. to club owners and managers cutting up our wages both as we walk in the door and as we leave (house fees and champagne room/lap dance fees) is just business as usual. both owners and managers of strip clubs are mostly men. most owners and managers in general are men. most service industry positions are held by women. strip clubs aren't outside of the inequities that plague our economies. they are following the culture of unequal compensation that exists everywhere else.

the difference between this and every other fucked up job ive had (ive had a variety), is that this job has stripped away the dressings of polite society to show the nude unjust economic state in which we modern humans find ourselves. in that heedless dance of excess this job also gave me the tools to live without it.

p.s. I'd love to work my aerial and pole skills up to a point where id be excited about feature performing. even if I don't do that officially, it might be fun to still travel dance on a short term basis with long breaks in between. I love stripping and I LOVE STRIPPERS. I will always cherish every group of strippers that allowed me into their dressing room. they allowed me to transform in ways I could have never imagined. my 8 year old self would be proud and my 29 year old self is too. 🩷

Need advice from dancers.

My club is kinda crap (not many customers, cheap area, dead except for the weekends) but there's not really many other options. So many days I am only making $20 after house + tipout. Weekends are better and more stable, but still not.... Amazing most of the time.

I know it's unrealistic to be pulling in $1k or more per shift. But I feel like the amount of labor and well being I put into this job is not worth it at this club. Especially after tipout and paying taxes. I don't like wasting 9 hours at the club and sitting there to be making minimum wage or less. Or showing up every day hoping to catch the one good night of the week. Yes the good nights are amazing but I would be happy with $200-300 take home a shift with the occasional horrid night.

It sucks too because I feel like I could be doing so much better. I am good at stacking dances and getting guys into VIP. I feel like it's my area holding me back more than anything. But when I'm not making good $$, I get unmotivated.

Anyway I wanted to ask. Is it just me? I know a lot of dancers are upset lately about the industry not having as much money as it used to. But is it this bad? Would other states/cities have better opportunities? I know it's impossible to guess an average for a dancer. But what's the amount where you'd go find a new club if you were making only $x every day?
