Safe Dubai Event By Encardio
Dubai is a symbol of ambition, innovation, and progress—a global city that leads the world with its infrastructure and visionary urban development. From towering skyscrapers to expansive man-made islands, the city is a testament to human ingenuity and its ability to push boundaries.
However, as Dubai continues to stand at the forefront of global innovation, it faces increasing vulnerability to the forces of nature. The impacts of climate change, including rising temperatures, shifting environmental conditions, and geological challenges, pose significant risks to the emirate’s iconic infrastructure.
As a city built on ambition, Dubai must also lead the way in resilience and preparedness, ensuring that its growth is sustainable and its structures remain safe for generations to come.
Safe Dubai, an initiative led by Encardio Rite and Society of Engineers, UAE, is a platform designed to address these critical challenges. It brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and explore groundbreaking technologies to secure Dubai’s infrastructure against the uncertainties of nature and climate. Safe Dubai is a movement to ensure the emirate continues to thrive as one of the most advanced, resilient cities in the world.
Date: 27th February 2025 | Time: 10 am to 4 pm | Venue: The Grand Hyatt, Dubai

still thinking about how spencer was such sharp movie about bulimia/anorexia nervosa in particular: i've seen a couple of movies about that subject and some were better than others, but this one really struck me as compellingly resonant. completely unexpected tbh

the reaction to the NHL bringing 4 teams to sweden has been something that's been bugging me for the last few days like no, you don't need to 'grow the game' in sweden. everyone knows that there's already a steadfast loyalty and enjoyment of hockey there. but have any of the north american old men with (unfortunately) access to the internet thought about how accessible these games are to other european fans?? even some fans from non-european countries?? how it's easier for people not in canada/the us to enjoy literally 2 whole games because they're at a normal/manageable time?? that's how you grow the game. it's how you grow any sport. losers.

Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in and say, I have 4 more commissions in this set and I'm trying lol. You know, it's just same old kiosk shenanigans where I cover shifts cause people call out and I get only get one day off and I come home tired and all that lol.
But I did brainstorm a solution for that. I'm thinking about trying streaming out for art. Maybe having a set time to draw and people watching will help. Then maybe I could do paid requests or set up commissions on there? idk i didn't think through the details yet. But I did make myself a little vtuber to use if I did want to do it (will post that in a sec)

When phone bans were more strictly enforced in my school, kids just found more and more creative ways of hiding them. We had to hand in our phones on Sunday? Some of them bought fakes. The guy got one of those airport metal detectors and he’d come into the classrooms randomly to check our desks and pockets, so we kept our phones in our dorms. My best friend snuck into his office once to steal it and went over different types of materials to see what it beeped on. We kept them under our pillows, or in our lockers, and when the searches extended to the dorms too (they went after the boys first because they were a lot more obvious about having them), my dorm went over the whole room to find a hiding place. You know what my best friend found? A hidden, empty compartment, behind the AC on the ceiling next to her bed (she’s on the top bunk). She could reach it if I went up on her bed and held onto her.
And honestly, I’m not sure why they tried so hard to ban phones in particular. Sometimes the guys fought each other with a broomstick and the garbage can lid. One time this dude bite his own tongue so hard in the middle of a phrase than blood started dripping out while he was talking. A girl was seducing a dude next door for gifts while my teacher was wondering if he was harassing her.
"kids don't pay attention in class anymore Because Of Phone" is so funny as an argument. students haven't paid attention in class since school was invented. my parents' generation were in there making flipbooks out of the corners of their notebooks and doodling random shit instead of taking notes. and they didn't have phones.
#there was a time when ordering takeout from the school was banned too#the food wasn’t allowed through the gate#my friend said that a lot of people asked their deliverers to throw the stuff over the wall#which would obviously destroy everything idk why they thought that was a good idea#anyway that got the gate monitored eventually#so my friend and I devised a plan#which was to sneak into the kindergarten section of the school#the back of their playground is empty at lunchtime and in the afternoon#and the wall is just a barrier of small bushes#so we’d get on the playground structure#right next to the school wall#the kindergarten is directly next to the gate and the security#but that small section was hidden#so we’d call the driver when they got close#we say- ‘you see that yellow parrot over the wall? just ten meters ahead? go there#we had one of those long bamboo sticks with a Y at one end— those things you use to hang up clothes on tall lines#we’d say. ‘we’ll throw a hangar down the wall. and can you put the bag on it? then you can lift it up and we’d reach it’#and usually they’re nice about it and they’d do it#and both of us are pretty short but I’ve got arms just long enough for me to lean over the side and grasp our bag of food#and the hangar along with it#and sometimes there’d be a couple of girls in the dorm across the playground#and they’d watch us do our little sneaky thing. and they’d cheer#which was fun#all this is to say#if ppl think that banning something is the right way then they should be prepared to see kids get creative in ways they dont like#case in point: last Friday when i escaped school by climbing over the cafeteria fence with my suitcase and ran over a ditch#all because they wouldn’t let kids leave even though they had no more classes in the day#and there was currently a typhoon

Why Journal Bearings Fail: Insights into Complex Modeling Needs
Journal bearings are the unsung heroes of rotating machinery — from turbines and compressors to electric vehicles and aircraft engines. While they’ve been studied for over a century, many complex challenges still limit their performance and reliability in cutting-edge industrial applications. Among these, real-time multiphysics modeling and health prognostics stand out as the most demanding and…

Keep Buildings Safe With Structural Movement Monitoring
Tumblr media
Structural movement monitoring is a process of observing any adjustments, displacements and cracks on a building or any other construction. All these changes may occur gradually after the weather, ground pressure, work around it, or bad foundations.
