Forget what I said a few hours ago about having hope again for the animation on the U20 match
The new trailer looks like a slideshow again 😭😭😭
“They’re saving the budget for U20” my ass
I GIVE UP!!!
Now, I’m just holding on to the hope that Bachira’s “I love you” monologue will at least be done well. That’s all I’m asking for now!
Tumblr media
God, it’s really ironic how this season is being screwed over by greedy executives when the entire plot of this arc is about beating greedy executives 😭😭😭

Shy Episode 1: I'm Shy
Tumblr media
Masaomi Andou and movement aren't things that really go together. After all, a significant chunk of their storyboards for Hanako-kun were just manga panels. Shy, however, is a series that could really use some movement. So, how does it go over? ..... mixed signals, in my opinion. Some good, some not so good, lots of questions, so I'll lay it out here so you can decide if it's worth watching or not.
Alright, so superheroes exist but there's only one per country, and they're chosen by "heart bracelets" which bring out the latent hero potential in the individuals. Shy, or Teru Momijiyama, is Japan's hero and the main character of this series as she endeavors to save people and learn how to be a hero herself.
Sounds pretty comic book-ish, yeah? Andou and the staff seem to agree, as they open with a comic book style explanation of the story. It's good, really good. But is also a point of frustration for me.
Why? Because they don't keep it consistent in the episode. Andou uses comic book panels during the episode to accentuate reactions to something. In concept it's a great idea, it's just executed on very poorly. There's no animation in the "appearance" of the panel, there's no effect to its appearance, nothing. It materializes on the screen and that's it. There's also nothing special about it, it's just layered upon the regular screen. There's no "comic book dots", there's no color change, there's not even an outline or shadow to help separate the panel from the image itself.
It's a great idea that ends up woefully underdelivered on which is a shame given how well it fits both the series and Andou's sense of direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's even worse because there's examples of the same styling of layering an image on top of the environment where they do use that style, and I think it makes an important difference in how you see things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think about the only thing it does well is hide the lack of animation in a lot of sequences. Whether it's 8Bit's limits or Andou's intervention I've no idea, but a lot of the episode is still outside of superhero stuff. There's a few examples like this piece of Teru clinking her bracelets together in defeat, but not much. Overall, I'd say that the "average" visuals feel very awkward at times, which is disappointing.
Tumblr media
However, the superhero stuff is very cool for the most part. The movement, action, and transformations are all very solid and pride themselves on impressive visual effects.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But really, that's about all I have for it. I don't really think there's any standout direction or boarding being done since so much is just shot for shot with the manga. There's no massive differences or changes to how things go, and the animation on average is just alright. I definitely think there's potential for some really standout episodes with this series, but that will highly depend on the episode director/boarder on the episode. Basically though, if you felt that this episode wasn't that good, I don't think it's going to end up something that you'll enjoy.

IMPORTANT NEWS BOUT BLLK S2, PLS READ 🙏
Tumblr media
In conclusion, 8bit is pretty much js money grubbers and they are probably NOT saving the budget for U-20, high chance that the U-20 game animation will be js as bad as what we have rn
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSjRuwXbS/
Like the link has stated, the animators are artists too, they want to be able to release work that they themselves are proud of, but their scenes are pretty much js getting cut out to meet deadlines, and not to mention the low pay and work conditions.
So if you want to blame someone, blame the greedy studio.
Pls reblog to let others know, don't keep going after the animators for S2, they've tried their best, take your anger and disappointment out on the studio instead
YOU DON'T NEED TO LIKE THIS POST, JS PLS REBLOG TO SPREAD THE WORD

8bit got so lucky for bagging Blue Lock that they really ought to cherish it. If they mess up season 2, which would contain one of the most amazing and utterly hype animanga arcs of all time, I can just imagine the backlash they'd get.
They got away with season 1 because it was new and people loved the story too much, but I haven’t forgiven them for what they did to Bachira’s best scenes:

The last OST of my game Ruby Dungeon is out now on Youtube!
It's without hesitation my favorite of the bunch, being the theme for the demo's boss with some heavy 8-bit bass and rythms!
The chord progression used here was originally meant to be for the shop theme, but as I was making it I was like "Nah that's way too dark for the shop, I'll use it for the boss theme". And so I did!
I think that chord progression has the perfect mix of grandiose and discomfort for that boss, and the rest of the song around was mostly trying to build-up the tension with the intense rythms building on the sort of heavy breathing sound I made echo through most of the track.
I also really liked the idea of the melody having a slide, adding to the the tension by being pretty off-putting melody-wise and also making the melody slide between octaves, building even more on the tension.
Hope y'all liked my little songs, a playlist on my youtube channel have all the demo's ost up in order, and I'll also upload a full album as one continuous video soon!
Don't hesitate to check out my game on my itch.io too, as it'd mean a lot to me! With that said, Merry Christmas everyone :3
