Artist Statement:

For this project I focused on the homeless population.  I think all too often people try to ignore the homeless as if they weren’t even there.  We don’t know their situation, we don’t know where they’re coming from and we don’t know what ultimately caused them to become homeless but the average person passes immediate judgement on them without a second thought.  I combined images of the homeless with religious renaissance art, I thought the combination would kind of re-humanize them in a way to see past the circumstance and see the person.  The combination is also meant to kind of symbolize that all people have inherent value and beauty regardless of our circumstances

Last week, we told you how to rethink the Periodic Table of Elements—now, here’s a crash course on atoms. Joachim Ljunggren, a Swedish graphic designer and motion graphics producer, created a motion graphics short titled Atom Boy that explores the properties of molecular structures. Packed with satisfying bursts of 3D geometry, Atom Boy was the result of experimenting with physics and other elements in Studio 4D. The piece is stunningly stylish, featuring gleaming, white atoms that bond, separate, and undulate to a thumping techno beat.
