There must come a time when you stop fighting against the plans of God for your life and surrender completely to Him. #godsplans

God loves you too much to force His plans on you, so all that He asks is for you to trust Him.

“Gelassenheit: Serving God to the fullest”

“If any of you want to be my followes, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross and follow me. If you want to save your life for me, you will find it.” Matthew 16: 24-25

Every one of us our called to serve. Growing up in a Christian family or has been invited to go to church was never become an accident. As Psalm 139:16 says “Even before I was born, you had written in your book everything I would do”. It is already written that God would gather us all here. Yet, he didn’t gather us here just to sit on that pews every Sunday. Rather, he gathered us all here to serve him, to help one another in serving him. Sabi nga sa 2 Timothy 1:9, “he saved and chose us to be his people”

But the question is, “Do you really want to serve” If all of us answered yes, ask ourselves, “Is it my priority to serve the Lord? Or just my option?

There are a lot of factors to consider in serving the Lord.

1.       Serving the Lord comes with obedience and sincerity in your heart. (John 14:15)

-          Mahirap maglingkod kung hindi ka marunong sumunod. Pero mas mahirap maglingkod kung iba ang gusto nating sundin. Sabi sa John 14:15, “if you love me, do as I command”. Kung ang mga magulang nga natin na nag-utos satin na maghugas tayo ay hindi pa natin masunod, paano pa yung utos ni Lord na maglingkod ka sakin? Kung ang mga magulang natin nadadaan natin sa pa wait lang, si Lord din kaya?

-          Youth, hindi tayo makakapag-serve ng maayos kung hindi naman tayo willing sumunod kay Lord. Hindi pwedeng naglilingkod tayo pero yung gusto pa din natin yung nasusunod. Hindi ka pwedeng sumunod kasi napilitan ka lang. The Lord doesn’t need your actions as you follow him, he needs the sincerity of your heart as you follow his commands.

 2.       Serving the Lord comes with joy. (Psalms 100:2)

-          First things first, we cannot find the joy in serving the Lord if it is not our heart’s desire. Hindi tayo magiging masaya sa paglilingkod kay Lord kung napipilitan tayo. We should always feel the gladness and enthusiasm in serving him.

 3.       Serving the Lord comes with sacrifice. (Mark 10:21)

-          Sinabi ni Lord sa mayaman na ipagbili niya ang lahat ng kanyang ari-arian at ibigay sa mahihirap upang magkaron siya ng buhay na walang hanggan. Kung tayo nga pong hindi mayaman ay nahihirapan pang magbigay ng ating mga ika-sampu, buong ari-arian pa kaya? Kaya mo bang ibenta cellphone mo tas i-offering yung buong pinagbentahan para may pambili tayo ng aircon ditto sa church? Hindi po di ba.

-          Isaac was the promised child of Abraham, whom he waited for 25 years. Tapos bigla na lang sinabi sakanya ni Lord na sacrifice him as a burn offering? And despite of all emotions that Abraham felt that time, he still did.

-          In serving the Lord, we should sacrifice our own interest (his will over our will), our happiness and even personal relationships.

-          Naniniwala ako na lahat ng humahadlang sa paglilingkod kay Lord ay kinukuha niya. (yang mga nagamit ng phone habang may service, nako ingatan niyo na yang phone niyo habang nasa inyo pa). Pero kelangan pa ba nating hintayin kunin yun ni Lord? When will we have the initiative to sacrifice the things that are not needed in serving him? When can we learn to sacrifice the things that hinder us in serving the Lord wholeheartedly?

-          Believe me young people, sacrificing something for God is always a benefit, a blessing. Because he is the only one who knows how to kept his promise. Just like what he did to Abraham. I did sacrifice something for God, even personal relationship. And yes, I have gained so many blessings from him. Mahirap sa umpisa, pero yung realizations after and the blessings, that is not a regret.

4.       Serving the Lord should be your priority. (Matthew 6:33)

-          “Maglilingkod na lang pag wala na kong assignment, tapos na thesis, wala ng projects”, “Di na muna ko aattend ng fellowship kasi may gala daw kami, madami pa namang fellowship pero yung gala ngayon lang to”, “Di na muna ko magppractice kasi may exam kami, magrereview muna ko, maiintindihan naman ni Lord yun”.. Matutulog na lang kesa umattend ng fellowship. Makikipag-inuman na lang kesa mag-practice. Bilang isang kabataan, ganitong klaseng paglilingkod ba ang meron tayo?

-          Minsan nagiging option na lang natin si Lord kasi alam naman natin na maiintindihan niya tayo. Everytime we ask something from him, binibigay niya agad. Pero yung request na, “Anak, ako naman unahin mo”, hirap na hirap tayong gawin.

-          Make him your first priority, and then the rest of your priorities will be handled on his hands.

5.       Serving comes with great responsibility.

-          Ang dami na ngang responsibility sa bahay, sa family, sa school, sa trabaho, pati ba naman sa church meron pa din?

-          Hindi natatapos ang paglilingkod sa pag-attend ng fellowships, simba at pagsali sa praise & worship. As we heard the good news, we become responsible to it. Responsible in sharing it to unbelievers. We have started to become accountable to his Kingdom. We become responsible to our actions since we are Christians. Many eyes are on us that are always ready to see the mistakes of being a Christian, not the flaws of a human.

-          Our responsibility in serving the Lord comes after we leave this church.

-          Pastors/Church Workers are responsible to their church and congregation. Young people we are responsible to share God’s word in our unbeliever friends, though we all are. Parents, you are responsible in your children, as they serve the Lord. Since you are the most trusted person, best companion and best influencer in their lives. You can monitor their actions, you can guide them. They look up to your actions and words, inside and outside of the church.

Those are just a few factors to consider when you decide to serve him! Yet,

How can we serve God to the fullest?

Yes, we obey him with sincerity in our heart. We obey him with joy, we sacrifice things for him, he is our priority and we are all responsible to his Kingdom. But is that enough to serve him to the fullest?

Gelassenheit… means “surrender/yield”

We cannot serve him it we don’t submit ourselves fully to him. Ibigay mo yung buong ikaw, hindi yung kalahati lang. Because if we don’t submit ourselves to God, we will always end up bargaining ourselves from him.

Submission is they key in serving God to the fullest.

Yes Lord, in everything, gelassenheit.

Yes Lord, in everything, I surrender.

Let us surrender ourselves to God so we can serve him to the fullest. He said that if we want to become his follower, we should forget ourselves and we will find our life on him. Surrender our own will, our desires and we are all assured that he will take good care of us and will bless us more than we deserved and asked.
