My Top 50 favorite movies part 3

Number 30: Gamera: 1999, the Absolute Guardian of the Universe

This movie is just incredible. It’s a classic example of how Gamera, who was once seen as nothing but a Godzilla knock off, could be taken seriously and even beat Godzilla at his own game. The 90s Gamera trilogy tells a great story about Man vs Nature and how Gamera is a pillar of in an otherwise bleak world. Gamera 3 tells a sad story about revenge and how it consumes you. How a world with giant monsters isn’t what it’s cracked out to be. And how sometimes, what your choices are can influence the world. A great movie that shouldn’t be slept on.

Number 29: Wall • E

For the longest time, this was my favorite Pixar movie, and only got dethroned by another movie that will be referenced later. Wall • E is a love story between two robots that surrounded by environmentalist themes. And all with limited dialogue in the first act. A lot of people say the second half of the movie isn’t as good but I say no, it’s perfect because it shows just how much we a society can regress. And we have in our modern times. Wall • E is a great cautionary tale about treating the world better and how not to let technology rule your life.

Number 28: Beauty and The Beast

Kiss my ass live action remake, this is the real beauty in the beast. Everything from the characters, to the songs, to the story is peak. This movie is the definition of the term “Disney classic” as when I think of y out r traditional Disney tale, I think of beauty in the beast. Belle is my second favorite Disney princess, being a hard working character who doesn’t give a damn what other people think about her, and isn’t shoved down your throat like the live action remake, ugh why did that make a billion? Either way, it’s a fantastic movie and one I couldn’t do without.

Number 27: Godzilla Minus one

Now this is how you do a Kaiju movie. Legit, Legendary needs to take notes on how to do a proper character piece. Minus one tells the story of a Japanese jet fighter from world war 2, who lives with the guilt of not dying in battle like his garrison. I love how this isn’t like most G flicks and instead tries to be a character study that just so happens to have a giant monster. That is so innovative. This out shines the monsterverse, and that’s already a series I hold dear to my heart. I say go check it out.

Number 26: Full Metal Jacket

Surprisingly this is the only Kubrick movie on my list, which is a real shame because I think he’s done some amazing works. Now Kubrick was one of those directors who’s true strength showed in artistic rather than story telling, some people may not like the Shining or Clockwork Orange, but no matter who you are you have to love Full Metal Jacket. It’s about a funny and horrifying movie that shows the dehumanization of what war can bring to you. I think it’s a good idea to split the movie into two parts where the first ones is about Boot Camp while the second ones about the war in Vietnam. Both parts really do complement each other and what makes a great film. Definitely a good recommendation.

Number 25: Scarface

This is the only instant in which I think the remake is actually better than the original classic to me. Al Pacino is Tony Montana. Movie starts off with Tony Montana being an immigrant trying to start a new life in America but he’s soon goes down a life of crime. He soon climbs his way up to the top and creates his own criminal empire. I think what makes this movie be so great is how attached you become to Tony, Montana even though he kills people and does a bunch of terrible things. He has his limits, as there is this one pivotal scenehe doesn’t wanna blow up a car simply because it has a wife and kids in it. There’s a lot of movies out there where you root for the good guys but here you root for the bad guys.

Number 24: One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest

I remember reading the book in my senior year of high school and the movie very much impressed me. In this movie, Jack Nicholson plays a criminal. Who’s serving his sentence in prison, but he pretends to be mentally ill so we can be transferred to the mental institution, but he soon finds out that he’ll be stuck there indefinitely, so now he wants out. He begins a friendship with everyone else there in the hospital and inspires a rebellion against the coldhearted nurse ratchet. This is easily Jack Nicholson’s best film and one I recommend to everyone.

Number 23: E.T. Extra Terrestrial

This movie is what defined Steven Spielberg’s works. The movie tells the story of a lonely kid named Elliot, who befriends an alien left behind by his family. Two develop a bond as E.T. Learns the value of friendship and earth while Eliot becomes a lot more out going. A highlight is defiantly the climax of this movie. Check it out.

Number 22: Tombstone

First of all, rest in power Val Kilmer,

Tombstone is what I considered the last great western, a beautiful sendoff to a great genre of film making. Kurt Russell plays Wyatt Herb, a law man who’s on the hunt for the fierce cowboy gang led by Curly Bill Brocius, and to protect the town of tombstone. This movie is just incredible as it really goes to show how historically accurate it is, but also took liberties to romanticize it for a more brought audience. Sure that may be a negative on some people, but keep in mind. This is a romanticized version of the old west and the character was as a romanticized as Doc Holliday. A smooth, talking drunk who lives every day like it’s his last cause it might as well be. He had tuberculosis so his thought was that “fuck it. I’m gonna die anyway in fact, his whole philosophy would die with his boots on as he thought he’d die in a gun battle, but after pissing off a whole bunch of people, he ended up dying in a hospital bed without his boots truly, the joke was on him. I highly recommend this movie. It is truly a classic.

Number 21: Gojira

No Godzilla movie has topped the original 1954 classic. Gojira has pioneered the Tokusatsu genre of film making, and made it what it is today, Gojira is a cautionary tale about the dangers of Nuclear science, from a country that experienced it first hand. I truly believe if you’re gonna start watching a Godzilla movie, it should be with this one.

in your opinion what is the best order to watch the chainsaw movies and are any worth skipping?

Howdy! I’ve sort of answered this before, but that was a while ago, & I’m always happy to answer again! ♥️ It’s a little hard to without knowing some details about the person who is watching’s preferences but I’ll do my best! ♥️

I always, always recommend to people that they start with the original film - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). It’s the best place to start one’s journey into the franchise, imo! Plus it’s just such a wonderful and classic piece of cinema. So much to love about this film!

Where you go from there depends a bit on what you’re looking for: if you want more of the characters from the OG film, I’d say check out The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) next, also directed by Tobe Hooper. Be warned though, it’s more of a horror-comedy than the original and the tone is pretty different. But it’s one of the best in the franchise imo!

From there, you can go a couple different ways. If you want to stick with the original family(the Sawyers/Slaughters), then here’s the order of movies I recommend for ya next, if you want to see the whole franchise:

-Leatherface: the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990)

-TCM: the Next Generation (1995)

-Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)

-Leatherface (2017)

- Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022 - from Netflix)

The ones I like best on that list are TCM 3(1990) and Leatherface(2017). The latter is actually a really good movie - just go into it thinking of it as sort of an AU and enjoy it for what it is(as it definitely has its flaws), is my recommendation!

Now, if you decide instead that you want something a little different, and a bit more serious after watching the original film + TCM 2 - I always recommend checking out the 2003 remake(just called The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and then TCM: the Beginning (2006). These two movies are part of the remake timeline, and about a totally different family - the Hewitts, instead of the Sawyers. Both films are fantastic, two of my absolute favs in the whole franchise! Highly recommend. :)

I hope this little guide is sufficient for answering your question! Obviously I love this franchise, so of course I recommend watching all the films - even the ones that aren’t great usually have something awesome about them. I mean, who doesn’t wanna watch Viggo Mortensen(in TCM 3) or Matthew McConaughey(in TCM 4) acting totally unhinged as part of the Sawyer/Slaughter clan? ;)

ok im gonna try to put together a list of other horror featuring wlw to watch

particularly wlw horror that isnt also weirdly transmisogynistic. im channeling my annoyance at fear street into something productive ok fuck u.

as always look into content warnings as needed and proceed with caution and care. in case it wasnt obvious, this is horror, and as such youre not gonna find a lot of happy romances here. im just a gay bitch who likes horror and sometimes i like to see someone somewhat like me in it. lemme live.

the perfection: recentish netflix horror/thriller full of twists and turns thatll fuck with your head. very very dark but i personally find the ending sorta weirdly cathartic and its definitely one of the happier endings on this list. theres no easy way to talk about this movie with spoiling, nevertheless i can p much guarantee you will be in for a scare.

30 miles from nowhere: while i wouldnt say the sapphic elements of this are like Positive Rep i do like the way this movie portrays the messiness of interpersonal relationships and i feel like its nice that that messiness isnt limited to straight people if that makes sense? anyway its just a great movie. unpredictable and chaotic and darkly comedic at times. if you like horror movies where the protags in peril arent like Good People but are likeable, you may like this.

all cheerleaders die: admittedly i havent rewatched this in a hot minute so let me know if it like Doesnt Hold Up but as i remember it this movie is a campy fun time with similar vibes to movies like jennifers body and ginger snaps. its just a good ol fashioned undead teen romp with some meangirls social-politics and some girls who like girls. what more could u ask for.

the hunger: 1980s movie about vampirism and bisexuality with a kind of gothic horror vibe to it. i feel obligated to spoil and tell you its Not a happy ending type of romance, but i do still like it and i do really appreciate it as like a take on the intertwined horror and allure of vampirism and how that relates to ideas of sexuality.

ginger snaps: i know i know i know its not canon but youre not gonna be able to convince me that this isnt a staple lesbian movie. i feel like most ppl who follow me know about ginger snaps already but for the uninformed, its a werewolf-themed coming of age horror about two sisters. although naturally theres a big focus on ginger, the younger sister bridget is imo the true protagonist and she sorta intrigues me as, in my interpretation, a young lesbian who is witnessing her sister transform into a manifestation of her own fears regarding sexuality and growing up. thatll get its own post someday tho.

may: this movie is a partially grounded, partially fantastical, purely captivating feature-length character study on a socially isolated young woman trying to find a perfect person in a world of flaws. itll make you smile, itll make you wince, itll getcha with that slow sense of building dread where youre just waiting for something to go horribly horribly wrong. check it out.

what keeps you alive: a highly stressful survival-horror type thriller. i know that subgenre is usually reserved for games but im not really sure how else to describe the vibe of this. i wont lie its not one of my favs just because its not a mode of storytelling i tend to mesh with but i do think its undeniably a good quality movie and i think if youre the type to be drawn in by fast-paced thrillers you will be into it.

feel free to add on. literally the only criteria for this list is its gotta feature a sapphic character and not feature a horribly transphobic scene <3

my 36501st post brings all my recent tv shows/reviews to your dash. i won’t use stars or numbers as rating this time but write a key thought and/or trigger warning. all these shows are solid, just pick your fav genre.

- Fargo S1: If you’re too young to know the cult classic thriller movie (1996) that this is based upon... enjoy a famous Hobbit actor stumbling into a bloody nightmare. TRIGGER: extreme graphic violence, not suitable for watching with kids.

- Hellbound S1: You survived the Squid Game? Put your feels through the mixer in a partly tedious ~ partly heartbreaking drama about religion, mystery and human society in a state of mass hysteria.

- I know what you did last summer (2021, not the thriller cult classic): What worked quite well in Fargo tv remake sadly collapses under the weight of expectations. IKWYDLS was the first thriller with Hollywood’s hottest stars for an entire teen generation in the 1990s, so this tv remake had no good fate from the start. Despite captivating performance by Madison Iseman it never feels fresh enough or relevant enough. People can rewatch the original, the movie had Sarah Michelle Gellar and that Phillippe poster boy. this tv remake has none of that plus it gets nearly absurd towards the end. It was cancelled but you can still try out and then go stream the original movie version. TRIGGER: extreme violence.

- Upload S1: Good details but lack of clear artistic direction. It can’t decide whether it’s rom-com or cyberspace thriller. Robbie Amell is your reason to check it out but the plot is the reason to maybe turn it off halfway through.

- The Silent Sea S1: Yeah South Korea suddenly the hotspot for tv shows?! Aside of the Squid Game hype both this and the Hellbound show are somehow quite oldschool projects. We have seen these stories, these type of characters, but it’s as good as any mediocre Ridley Scott Alien blahblah, with more focus on science. Watch this if you love the moon and spooky drama.

- Sweet Tooth S1: i read the first comic ages ago, so i was quite unaware of the emotional depth and also sadness in this story. the post-apocalyptic world was rarely so charming and that’s mostly bc of the diverse cast and nice visual effects. This is the more than solid start of an adventure with “Gus”, a kid that’s both human and animal hybrid. One of the must-watch shows currently.

- Only MURDERS in the building, S1: I wanted something Sherlock Holmes style but with less monologues and puzzles, yay! Selena Gomez almost steals this thing from comedy grandpa Steve Martin. joke aside, this is funny, silly, thrilling and offers one very unique ep to highlight diversity in today’s media. TRIGGER: some scenes are definitely not suitable for younger kids, better watch an ep alone before showing it to the entire family.

- Foundation, S1: i started this post with Fargo and one of our fav Hobbits. i end this post with one of our fav Hobbit elves. But Lee Pace as scifi emperor is supported/mirrored by a fantastic female lead and smart interconnected stories. It’s not your all out action epic in space, it’s about society, genetics, heritage, politics and so on. you either watch all of it or stay away. trust me, i was annoyed by some twists around the middle part, then fully appreciated the finale.

2021 Housekeeping

Hey guys. Sorry for this blog being like, dead for all of December. A lot of holiday stuff happened and I just got sidetracked with all of that. That aside, I figured since this is the start of a new year I should go over some of the stuff I did throughout 2020. This is strictly dealing with things that I personally did for this blog. I want to keep this a safe-space and not deal with the crap that went on this year, for both you guys and me.

It’s all under the “Keep Reading” because this post is long as hell

Dafuking Films:

For a first attempt I think this went pretty well. 32/52 isn’t that bad, given how I have a real bad habit of just dropping things and never returning to them. Plus with the actual quarantine going on, watching a bunch of different movies people suggested to me was a lot of fun. Some were fantastic and enjoyable. Some people just really wanted me to suffer. But still, good times were had by all. I still have the list of movies that people suggested to me from last year, so I’m still gonna try to go through them all. Maybe twice a month instead of weekly so I won’t burn myself out like before. Regardless, I had fun, so I’m going to continue this.

Just to get this out of the way. Website was a valiant attempt. Didn’t really give a shit nor cared about the uptake. I Tried. I got tired updating it. If I was going to use it 100% then I would just move from Tumblr to There, which I won’t since all of my good shit is here. So I’m gonna move on.

Newvember:

This was a great idea. I had so much fun doing Newvember. No worries, no commitment. Just reading random shit with no pressure to maybe add them to my already overflowing list of blogs. It also helped me figure out what works and what doesn’t in terms of blogging.

Comic strips comics don’t really work well for me. I mean, the only good things to blog is just the last 2 panels, so I’m sort of only blogging the punchline which ruins the joke if people want to read it themselves. So stuff like Dominic Deegan and Sluggy Freelance probably won’t fly unless they somehow turn into page-format in the future.

Novels and Webnovels are flipping hard for me to figure out on just the logistics on how to blog. Do I give like a page summary on what I read like with The Wandering Inn? Or just do screenshots of the lines to react to like with Detective Pony and A Practical Guide To Evil? I am still working that out so I might not do much written stuff until I find a groove I like.

Interactive Comics get a toss up. I think Homestuck sort of spoiled me a bit here. I’m so used to how Homestuck works that I’m instinctively comparing other interactive comics to it even though I very read an Interactive comic while it was actually interactive. Stuff like Ruby and Awful Hospital unfortunately already has a high bar to jump over just because I like/used to the Homestuck format.

For the liveblogs themselves now that I have time away from them:Dark Science got a cool Cyberpunk vibe to it with a mix of magic-maybe. So it would be cool to read, but probably won’t continue it until the longer blogs like Girl Genius and Order of the Stick get caught up/finished first. Poppy O’Possum is just cute and honestly refreshing to have the main character be a hard-working mom. How to Be a Werewolf is a slowburn of how werewolves work, which I am always a sucker for how lore works. But I don’t really remember too much else from it so I might not revisit it given how I’m not too invested in it. Granted the same can be said for the prologue of Girl Genius and we saw how THAT went. Dominic Deegan is 90s fantasy slice of life, but with like some way old comedy jokes that I can just hear the ba-dum-tsst every punchline. So, yeah that one’s gonna drop. Practical Guide to Evil is a really cool read and I always like fantasy rpg style settings. I like the idea of Titles giving power and having the protagonists be the necessary evil. But again, I have to figure out how to webnovels. Awful Hospital has interesting art, but it isn’t really clicking with me too much so I’m probably gonna drop it. Sluggy Freelance is just wild. Part of it is the random plot things like having asshole rabbits and sci-fi references. Other part is me just saying random shit like how Dirk Strider is living his offshoot life in this comic. Fun read, but I don’t think the strip comics are good liveblog stuff. So will probably drop. A Better Place ABSOLUTELY Slaps. I was down with that since the first comic. Will 100% continue with that (when I get enough space). Blindsprings has an interesting 1800s steampunk magic vibe and I do like the theme of idealization vs reality. Check Please is cute. I’m A Spider is a fun isakai with a cool twist of being reborn as a monster. Not Drunk Enough is just terrifying. Both with the horror and alcohol poisoning.

Basically: A Better Place will definitely be revisited. Poppy, Check Please, Blindsprings, and I’m a Spider will probably be revisited for just short quick sessions. Not Drunk Enough and Dark Science might come back if/when I am finished with longer series.

Either way, I like doing Newvember. So I am going to initiate Ju-New-ne to be the next New-Blog month. So this WILL happen again.

Schedule:

Yeah I believe my time of doing daily blogging sessions is over. It worked well for 2019, but that time is basically over. I probably will try to go for twice a week if I can. It sounds fair enough for content.

Videos:

I am NOT giving up on my Undertale videos. There is more coming. I just got stalled because I lost my art stylus for drawing the thumbnails. I swear to Jegus I am going to Post the entire thing!!! I Shan’t Give Up!!!

Homestuck:

So early 2020 is the time, where after 2 full years I finished reading Homestuck. It was, honestly, a wild ride and wild time. My literal presence on this blog was shaped because of Homestuck from the asks to videos to discord. It was just, good. Nice. Like looking back through a memory book with warm feelings. Having it end the way it did was good, especially with when it ended. I might make posts on how I view the characters overall, maybe make a Final Epilogue Troll Rank/Fav Rank. I will work on that.

And from that, I think that a year is probably long enough for me to revisit Homestuck again. Pesterquest, Epilogue, HS’2, whatever is the next sequel. Hell maybe Problem Sleuth and see what the hell all those references were about. The goal is to be caught up in a bunch of other comics first. Like, gonna gun for 3-5. Once I get caught up (or close to it) then I will return into Hussie’s orange arms once again.

Anyway, that’s a surprise for anyone who actually bothers to read to the end of this. Happy New Year everyone.

and MANNNN I'm so so glad that rewind is back. I don't always love when characters don't stay dead but I'm completely happy w/it here for multiple reasons, like the fact that I really like rewind and chromedome’s story after this arc - like, I LOVE that they addressed the fact that rewind 2 is different from OG rewind, despite being fundamentally the same person, so he and cd cant just immediately get back together and pretend everything's fine, but also there's really only an 18 month (?i think) disparity between the 2 rewinds which is nothing compared to literal millions of years, soooo

ALSO I literally never considered this until this reread but it would've been kind of an L for rewind to die and stay dead considering that rewind and cd were The First transformers gay couple, and that's a really big deal! and I don't really consider it bury your gays bc like, rewind doesn't stay dead that long and also there are soooo many other gays, but STILL

plus rewind and cd ended up having a lot of story left to get thru, which is awesome

also I just love rewind so I'm glad he’s back :)

I fucking love this scene bc this is basically the culmination of brainstorm being Completely Ominous for the entire story thus far, like, it really hit me this readthru that brainstorm was so totally sinister for like most of his screentime up until this arc...and this scene is the pinnacle, I love how everything brainstorm says is overlaid with so much tension for the reader bc of what we know now about him

like brainstorm saying ‘yes - here’s to fixing things’ is so fucking sinister even though out of context that sentence is just normal

and when atomizer basically voices what the entire audience is thinking as brainstorm opens the briefcase - ‘brainstorm, you can’t do that.’ bc yeah, what the hell, he’s opening THE briefcase, Oh Shit

AND THEN THE FINAL SHOT....brainstorm front and center looking SCARY AS HELL.... ‘I can do whatever the hell I like.’....everyone suddenly collapsed around him...the fantastic shadowy lighting...the ominously open briefcase...the clear segue Directly into the next high-concept arc....[chefs kiss] ART

seriously I love this issue so much. SO many good things. such good character stuff, really great interactions, some fantastic plot development, super creative sci-fi fun times...all around just an extremely solid and enjoyable issue, 10 outta 10

and MAN OH MAN I cannot wait to get into the elegant chaos arc, it fucking SLAPS, that arc and remain in light have always been my favs, I'm so excited to revisit it

AND ruth bought the physical comic TPB for like issues 34-38 or something and I'm so so glad I can read that instead of braving the many split-up double page spreads on the online comic

so yeah, cant wait!

May I suggest checking out swedish 2014 jcs 👀👀👀 I loooove reading what people think about this musical, maybe you could rank Judas (Judases? 🤔🤔) from different versions? Or really anything you want haha I'd love to hear it 😄

OOOOH I know about that one and I definitely need to check it for reasons 👀 and sfhbhsfj okay thank for making me talk about one of my fav things in life: JCS’s Judas. I’m going to explain why did I like them more or less, but I personally love all of them and every Judas I’ve seen must be protected.

6. 2012 Broadway aka Josh Young

I didn’t dislike him at all, don’t get me wrong. He has an amazing voice and he’s quite cute, ngl, buuut he’s not my favourite. However, I liked how they portrayed Jesus��, Judas’ and Mary’s relationship in this version, it was very sweet and made them more relatable (if you can call Biblical characters relatable lol). It was a good one, but not the best imo!

5. 1970 studio album aka Murray Head

Same here, it’s not a bad one, but it’s the one I’ve heard the least, so I don’t have much personal attachment to him. No shade, Murray hehe.

4. 2000 movie aka Jerôme Pradon

Oh, this one is conflicting. I don’t like his voice at all. Like... At all. BUT I love his performance. The 2000 film itself is not my favourite, but I kinda like the theatrical perfomances, and particularly Judas is a fantastic one! Quite homoerotic, btw. Don’t come at me for pointing it out, call ALW.

3. 2012 Arena Tour aka Tim Minchin

I loved his performance and his voice is g r e a t. My only problem is that he’s the straightest Judas of them all. Sad. Tim really said gayn’t, didn’t he? :(

2. 1996 London cast recording aka Zubin Varla

Okay, I’m going to sit down for a moment and scream into the void because not only I love Zubin’s performance and voice, but I’ve also listened to this album a thousand times over this past year. He balances a good vocal performance with very intense emotions, and his voice even cracks in some particular moments. It’s very intense and emotional, I love it!

1. 1973 movie aka Carl Anderson

Who else could be #1? Just as Zubin, Carl’s performance balances perfectly the emotional and technical parts of the performance, but this man takes it to a whole new level. This, added to his amazing performance and his friendship with Ted Neeley, makes his Judas my all time favourite. Like, come one, his entrance at the beginning of Superstar is unbeatable!

Honourable mention: Ramin Karimloo. I haven’t seen him as Judas, but I’ve heard him sing Heaven On Their Minds and omg... That was an experience.

a himbo is, essentially, the male version of a bimbo. it’s a man who’s very kind and sweet and gentle, very strong and buff, but has absolutely no brain cells. an important aspect of the himbo is their deep respect for women, usually phrased as “they drink respect women juice”. the best example, in my opinion, is Kronk from the Emperors New Groove

he’s a very sweet, lovable man. incredibly strong, very buff, clearly works out. however, he’s incredibly....not smart. he doesn’t have a single brain cell and gets by purely on his kindness and love for others. he respects women - and everyone, really - but he doesn’t know what the fuck is going on. ever.

if you’re not familiar with that movie, another fantastic example is Calum. yep. that Calum

he checks all the boxes, right? he’s very kind and sweet. he’s pretty buff and strong. definitely drinks his respect women juice. and he absolutely never knows what’s going on. out of the entire band, he’s the closest to a himbo. he occasionally shares the brain cell with Ashton, but not often enough to keep him from being a himbo.

so there you have it! a nice analysis on what a himbo is. they’re incredibly important to society and, frankly, I think we need more.

Chapter Thirteen: Hook

Emma reached down to pet Graham’s service dog as she headed to the kitchen for another helping of orange chicken from the take out containers. Elsa and Graham had graciously allowed Emma and Henry to join them for their impromptu celebration for getting voted off in today’s eliminations.

“I still can’t believe we’re celebrating,” Emma commented as she settled back down on the couch.

Elsa turned to Graham, who had her tucked against his side, his hand resting on her hip. She traced his jaw and smiled. “We don’t have to hide that we’re together anymore,” she said, and Graham pressed a kiss to her forehead. Then Elsa turned to Emma. “Besides, now we don’t have to compete against you and Killian in the semi-finals. Now I can just cheer on my little sister.”

“You and Jones are going to win,” Graham told her confidently as he took a sip of his beer.

Emma sighed as she speared a piece of chicken with her chopsticks. “I hope so.”

“He sure beat me in that dance off,” Graham chuckled.

Elsa pressed her face against Graham’s chest as a blush stained her cheeks. Emma’s own face burned. The show had only aired on the east coast a couple of hours ago, and already the salsa dance-off between the two couples was being dubbed “The Chest-Off.” It already had thousands of views on YouTube, and everyone was in a heated discussion on which was hotter: chest hair or a smooth chest? While they were dancing, Emma and Elsa couldn’t see the meter recording the live votes, but when they watched the footage later, they laughed hysterically as the little bar at the bottom of the screen spiked wildly in Graham’s direction as soon as he took his shirt off. But then Killian had taken off his, and the meter surged in the opposite direction. In the end, the vote had been clear: Killian’s chest hair had won the salsa. There was no way of knowing, of course, if losing those extra points had cost Graham the semi-finals or not, but it had certainly helped Emma and Killian. The other couple voted off had been August and Jasmine. Emma tried to feel bad for her temporary partner, and when she couldn’t, she felt slightly guilty.

“It’s down to two athletes, Killian, and Belle,” Elsa commented as she grabbed a fortune cookie and cracked it open.

“Yeah, it’s shaping up to be a great end to the season,” Emma said.

“Aw, look,” Elsa gushed, showing Graham the tiny slip of paper from her cookie, “it says The end is sometimes really the beginning. Isn’t that perfect for today?”

Graham’s face softened. “It’s perfect for us. For a while, it felt like everything that mattered to me was ending, but it all led me right here. To you.”

Graham then cupped Elsa’s face and gave her a soft kiss.

“Ugh,” Henry complained, pretending to gag on an eggroll, “kid in the room, remember?”

Graham and Elsa both chuckled. “Sorry,” Graham apologized, but he didn’t let go of Emma’s sister, simply tucking her head beneath his chin and tugging her a bit closer. Elsa softened against him with a contented smile on her face.

As she watched them, Emma tried to keep her mind from dwelling on a certain blue-eyed Brit with soft lips and strong hands. She stared into her plate of Chinese food, willing her blood to cool and her mind to cease replaying that kiss. It’s not like it would lead to the same place Elsa found herself in with Graham. Killian wasn’t a retired Marine with multiple options before him. He was an actor. How many times had she reminded herself of that fact? The thing was, since there kiss it was getting harder and harder to remember.

Emma hadn’t even made her way out of bed yet the next morning when her phone dinged that she had a text message. It was from Killian.

Can we meet, Swan? Away from the cameras?

Emma worried her lower lip as she contemplated his request. She had a feeling she knew what he wanted to talk about, and while it was a conversation she really didn’t want to have, she also didn’t want to risk the situation blowing up in their faces while the cameras rolled.

Sure. Same cafe as last time? Just not outside this time.

She hit send, and Killian quickly sent back a reply.

Ha ha, definitely no. I’ll be in a ball cap again just to be safe.

Emma texted back with a time for him to meet her then slipped out of bed. She skipped a shower, figuring it was pointless anyway since she’d just get sweaty at rehearsals. She put her messy hair in a ponytail, then shoved it into an Angels baseball cap that August had given her. She brushed a kiss across the cheek of a bleary-eyed Henry as he shuffled from his room.

“I thought you didn’t have to practice as early now that Neverland’s on hiatus,” her son grumbled.

“I know, and starting tomorrow morning I’ll make you breakfast every day till New Year’s, okay kid?”

He shrugged his acceptance as he grabbed a box of cereal from the pantry, and Emma dashed out the door. She knew he was responsible enough to catch the bus on time, and Elsa was still home. Still, mommy guilt sometimes felt like her constant companion. Even with all the help from her siblings and Mary Margaret, being a single mom wasn’t easy. She pushed such thoughts from her mind as she made her way through LA traffic. She was early enough that rush hour hadn’t begun yet, but the streets were still a bit congested. In the end, she was ten minutes late meeting Killian.

Emma kept her sunglasses on just in case as she stepped into the cafe. She wouldn’t have recognized Killian if not for the bright blue eyes shining from under the brim of his Dodgers baseball cap. He was wearing a plain gray hoodie that seemed to be his standard uniform when trying to go unrecognized.

His phone was pressed to his ear, but when Emma reached the table, he smiled up at her. “Um, sorry Robin, but I’ve got to go. Emma’s here,” he paused, giving Emma an apologetic look for being on his phone. “Aye, mate, I look forward to it. . . I will . . . bye.”

As Emma sat down, she noted the way his smile reached his eyes, crinkling the skin around them. “Must be good news.”

“It is,” Killian replied, excitement coloring his voice. They were interrupted by a waitress taking their order, but as soon as she left, Killian continued eagerly. “You know the movie musical The Greatest Showman, right?”

Emma nodded with a shrug, “Who doesn’t?”

“Well, the same producers are developing a new movie musical about the rise of the punk music scene in London in the 70s. They want me for the lead.”

Emma smiled broadly. “That’s great!”

He ducked his head with that bashful smile of his that she never would have expected him capable of three months ago. “I have you to thank,” he told her.

Emma shook her head. “No, Killian. All I did was teach you some dance steps. You’re the one who proved to the world that you’re a triple threat. So who’s the choreographer?”

The waitress brought their orders out, and Emma stirred the whipped cream and cinnamon into her hot chocolate as she watched Killian take a bite of his breakfast sandwich before answering. When he did, his eyes were bright with excitement.

“Tabatha and Napoleon D’Umo.”

Emma almost knocked her hot chocolate over as her hands flew to her mouth. “Nappy Tabs? Seriously?! I’m so jealous. I never got to work with them on So You Think You Can Dance.”

Killian’s grin was broad as he took in her reaction. “Their lyrical hip hop is the style they’re going for in the film.”

“Oh, I’m so jealous,” Emma sighed as she broke apart her blueberry muffin and popped a bite in her mouth. “Put in a word for me? I sing you know.”

“That’s right,” Killian nodded, “you did Broadway.”

“Just in the corp. It was a steadier life for Henry than touring the ballroom circuit. Ingrid and Anna went with me to help with Henry. I missed Elsa and David, especially David, but I still got to dance and Ingrid kept working with me to get me back in competition shape.” Emma shook her head as she stared into her mug of cocoa. “Why am I babbling on about me? This is great news for you!”

“Aye. The casting director and producers want to meet me in London after the show wraps.”

Emma felt her stomach drop. “London?”

Killian eyed her with that intense look of his. “They want actual London landmarks from that time in the film. Sort of like how LA was a character in La La Land.”

Emma bit her lip, her eyes darting away from Killian’s face. “London . . . “

Killian cleared his throat. “But that’s not why I asked you to meet me. Emma –“

“Is this about Liam leaving?” Emma cut him off, locking her eyes on his again.

Killian arched one brow and gave her a half smile. “No, it’s not that either. I knew he’d have to go back home sooner or later. He’s got a job, you know. Pretty brunette bookworms can’t distract him from that reality.”

Emma laughed nervously. “Right . . .”

Killian leaned across the table. “And you’re changing the subject.”

Emma swallowed hard and fiddled with the napkin in her hand. “What subject?”

“The kiss, Emma.”

Emma scoffed even as heat crept up her neck. “Why? It was just a kiss.”

“Not for me,” he said, voice laced with conviction. He reached across the table and stilled the nervous motion of her hands by covering them with his. “Emma, when I was just starting in the industry, I was so focused on my career that I didn’t take the time to pursue any relationships. Then I got the role on Neverland, and I got carried away with partying and all the attention from women. Until one day I realized those women were attracted to my fame, not me. I never thought I’d actually find someone I could truly love . . . until I met you.”

Emma pulled her hands away abruptly and stared at her lap. She wasn’t sure what she could say to any of that.

Killian added in almost a whisper, “That’s what the kiss revealed.”

Emma lifted her head finally, clasping her hands tightly in her lap. “You just told me you’ll be moving to London, Killian.”

“But we –“

“No,” Emma cut him off, standing abruptly. She shook her head. “Please don’t make empty promises, Killian. You won’t keep them, believe me.”

Killian just looked at her silently for a moment. Then he gave one nod of his head; a nod of acceptance. “Okay, Emma. I won’t push it. Whatever we become, if anything, it’s up to you just as much as it is me.” He reached out and took her hand. “Just don’t leave. We’re still partners. And . . . friends? I hope?”

Emma gave him a tentative smile as she sat back down at the table. She squeezed his hand before releasing it. “Yes, definitely friends.”

She picked up her fork, slightly dazed when Killian smoothly changed the subject and started to tell her how he decided to grow his hair long at seventeen, much to Liam’s horror. She laughed between bites of her omelet, the tension from moments ago melting away. His patience with her walls meant more to her than she cared to admit. She honestly didn’t know that there were men out there who would actually take “no” for an answer.

“What’s with the box?” Killian asked when he entered the studio. Emma had asked him to wait ten minutes at the café so they wouldn’t show up on set at the same time. The cameras were already rolling.

Emma smiled brightly at him and accepted his casual hug despite the electricity she felt every time he touched her. They had to dance together this week, after all, and this was being recorded.

“I don’t know what’s in the box,” she told him honestly. “We can’t open it until we look at the input from fans on Twitter. It’s people’s choice week. The viewers get to pick what we dance.”

Emma sat cross legged on the floor and powered up her laptop. Killian plopped down next to her, scooting close so he could see the screen. His leg was pressed against her knee, and she felt like a ridiculous teenager as her pounding heart reacted to it. His head was inclined towards her, too, and she kept her eyes glued to the device in her hands lest she turn her head and tumble headlong into those blue eyes of his.

“Okay,” Emma said as she scrolled through the tweets the producers had sent her, “this one says, With Neverland on hiatus, I’m going through withdrawal. I want to see Captain Hook on the dance floor! And this fan wants you to dance to the theme from Neverland.”

Killian leaned closer as he read the next tweet. “I want to see him dance with the hook!” He turned to face her, and Emma was forced to meet his gaze. “Doesn’t this all go against the very reason I did the show? To help people see me as more than Hook?”

Emma smiled softly at him. “You have proven that. But your fans love your show and the character you created.” She bit her lip to stop from adding that the show was ending. That wasn’t public knowledge yet, though rumors were all over the internet. Emma had a feeling those rumors were fueling the tweets a little.

Killian rubbed his jaw and sighed. “Okay. So what’s the dance style then?”

Emma leaned against the wall, crossing her arms and thinking. In the past, the audience voted on the song, style, and theme. The result had sometimes been disastrous when the three didn’t complement one another. So this year they were leaving the dance style up to the pros.

“Well, I think I’ll have to listen to the Neverland score again before I make that decision.” She went to her dance bag and pulled out her phone and her earbuds. She pulled up the music and closed her eyes as the notes flowed through her. Her whole life, even before she was formally trained, she imagined dances in her head whenever she heard music. The light and playful melody of the Neverland score was no different. She smiled as she opened her eyes. “A quick step, definitely.”

Killian was looking at her with such intensity, it almost put her on edge. A soft smile filled his face. “Dance and music are in your blood, aren’t they, Swan?”

Emma turned quickly as she yanked her ear buds out and stuffed them back in her bag. It was disconcerting the way he read her sometimes. She cleared her throat as she pulled her iPhone speakers out and set them up.

“Well, let’s get started.”

“As you wish.”

The box, naturally, had contained Killian’s hook and brace that he wore on Neverland. Three hooks, actually. Killian explained it to her; one was rubber and used for stunts so no one got hurt accidentally. The second was a light aluminum hook with a blunted point that he wore for the majority of scenes, and the last one was made of actual steel and had a real, sharp tip. It was used for close ups or when the script called for him to hit or cut something with the hook. The last one, the sharp one, clearly couldn’t be used for their dance. The rubber one seemed like the most logical choice, but when they started working on the routine, it kept bending as they moved. Even to a TV audience, it would be obvious that it was fake.

Killian frowned. “Stunts are always edited so you don’t notice that it’s rubber. I guess I didn’t think of that.” He rubbed at the straps underneath his t-shirt. “I’m used to wearing that heavy leather duster and sweating under these straps, but dancing in this is giving me blisters. I hope I still have hair on my chest after this is over.”

“You better,” Emma laughed.

“Why Swan,” Killian grinned, “are you saying you like my chest hair?”

Emma’s face burned even as she swatted him with the back of her hand and rolled her eyes. He’d had to remove his shirt to put the brace on, and the sight of that again hadn’t exactly made the “just friends” thing easy to remember.

Emma let out a long breath as she pushed wisps of hair out of her face. “I guess we’ll have to try the aluminum hook then. The end is blunted, right?”

“Aye,” he told her as he unscrewed the rubber one from the end of his brace, “I won’t hurt you, love.”

He winked at that, and Emma’s traitorous blushing started again. What was her problem? He’d been flirting with her from day one. She should be used to it by now.

Unfortunately, switching hooks didn’t help. If anything, Emma was struggling even more with the choreography. She would have Killian turn a certain direction, but when she went to take his hand, the hook was there instead. She felt like a complete novice as she struggled to figure out turns and holds when Killian, essentially, only had one hand. The longer she struggled, the more frustrated she became.

“Fuck this!” she growled, yanking at her ponytail in frustration as she paced to the far corner of the room. Well, the editing room would have fun bleeping out all her swearing this week.

“Hey,” Killian said gently as he came up behind her. He rested his hand, and his hook, on her shoulders. He was obviously used to the prop that he spent the majority of his days wearing. But Emma wasn’t used to it. “We’ll figure this out, Emma. The way we always do . . . together.”

Emma, who had also been trying so hard all day to hold back from his casual affections, gave up and leaned back against him. He wrapped both arms around her, dropping his face to the crook of her neck. The cool metal of his hook felt odd against her hip.

“Can we call it a day?” she asked wearily.

“Sure,” he mumbled against her hair. Was that a kiss he just brushed to the side of her head?

When they parted ways, Emma wasn’t sure what had her shaken more: her struggles to choreograph this routine, or how natural it had become to be in Killian’s arms.

The next morning, Emma had only just greeted Killian when her phone buzzed with a message from Regina. Emma’s brow furrowed as she read it.

“Something wrong, Swan?”

Emma shook her head. “No, nothing’s wrong. It’s just . . . “ she looked up at Killian, then glanced over his shoulder at the camera crew, “they’re sending someone to help us choreograph around the hook?”

Killian’s confused expression mirrored her own. “Who could that be?”

“I don’t know, I mean –“ Emma was interrupted by a knock at the studio door. She glanced at the camera crew again, then at Killian, who shrugged. “Come in?”

The door was flung open and a petite, energetic blonde burst into the room. Rose; Killian’s co-star. He laughed with delight and rushed to embrace her.

“Emma!” Rose squealed, pulling her into an eager hug. When she let her go, Rose winked at Killian. “So, I hear you’re having trouble working around this guy’s hook.”

Emma swallowed down the sudden irritation that had welled up within her. The cameras were rolling, so she plastered on a smile. “Yeah, I’m not used to having to choreograph with just his right hand.”

“Why don’t you show me?” Rose asked eagerly, motioning with her hands for Emma and Killian to partner up.

Emma nodded and stepped into Killian’s hold. She counted out the beats as they went into the opening sequence of the syncopated choreography. The quickstep’s quick-quick-slow rhythm was difficult enough, but when they went into the quarter turn, Emma found herself grabbing for Killian’s hand only to find that it wasn’t there.

“See?” Emma said, pressing both hands to Killian’s chest to stop them both. “If I turn one way, I’m grabbing for the hook, but if I turn the other way, he can’t grab hold of my waist.”

Rose shrugged. “Why can’t you grab his hook?”

Emma shook her head. “What?”

“On Neverland, I hold his hook all the time, like it’s a hand.”

“The aluminum one?” Emma asked.

“Of course,” Rose explained, “the rubber one would bend if I grabbed it. When Hook and Tink danced at that ball in season two, Killian and I did that waltz with the aluminum hook.”

Killian arched a brow at Emma. “I told you I wouldn’t hurt you, Swan.”

Rose brushed past Emma and grabbed Killian’s arms. Emma hated the way it made her bristle. Rose put Killian’s right hand at her waist, then grabbed his hook and lifted his arm. Her frame was terrible, but she and Killian waltzed around the room in perfect rhythm just like Emma remembered in the episode Rose had referred to. Then Killian lifted Rose’s arm over her head, and the tiny blonde did a tight turn perfectly, still holding on to his hook. Then he spun her out and back in, his hook now at her waist.

“See how he holds it?” Rose showed her. “Whenever the script calls for him to hug me or embrace me, he keeps it sideways like this.”

Emma nodded, and she suddenly felt foolish. “So what you’re saying is I should just choreograph the way I normally do?”

“Well, not necessarily . . . “

Rose stayed with them the rest of the day, and slowly, as time wore on, Emma found she actually enjoyed having her there. Rose and Killian were obviously close, but now that she really paid attention, she could see that it was a very casual and platonic relationship. They teased each other almost like siblings would, and Rose gushed over Emma’s partnership with Killian, calling them “adorable” and “the cutest thing ever.” Rose helped Emma tremendously with the choreography, showing her which side to stand on if she needed to clasp Killian’s opposite hand, and how to execute the dance’s one spinning lift safely. At the end of the day, she and Rose grabbed the other two hooks from the box, and the three of them posed for a selfie with them.

As Emma gathered up her things and stood with her dance bag slung over her shoulder, Rose was next to her with an impish grin on her face. “Can I talk to you for a second now that Killian’s gone?” Rose asked.

Emma glanced over to the corner where the camera crew was packing up their gear. She let out a relieved sigh. “Sure.”

“I don’t mean to overstep my bounds, but I’ve been watching the show . . . ” she hesitated, her brow furrowing.

Emma lifted her hand. “Not you too, Rose! I know everyone talks about our chemistry, but he has chemistry with you, too. Frankly, he seems to have chemistry with everyone.”

Rose shook her head. “Not like with you. And it’s not just when you perform. He’s been . . . different. Happier.” She took Emma’s hands in hers. “He deserves more than shallow women grasping for fame.”

Emma broke eye contact with her, shaking her head. “Rose, I think you’ve misunderstood –“

“No,” she interrupted, “I don’t think I have. You were jealous of that other dancer, Jasmine. You’ve been jealous of me.”

Emma’s head snapped up, her eyes blinking. “That’s ridiculous!”

Rose’s face gentled as she let go of Emma’s hands. “Is it? You care for him, I can see that you do.”

Emma gave her a wry smile. “Is this where you warn me not to break his heart like his fangirls do online?”

Rose shook her head. “I think you’re more worried about your heart. That’s what I wanted to tell you. He’s a good guy, so don’t be afraid to give what you two have a chance.” She gave her another smile, patted her shoulder, and left the room.

Emma groaned and let her dance bag drag the floor as she left the room wearily. Couldn’t the universe just let her protect her heart in peace?

The semi-final episode actually involved two dances, just like the finals would. For this one, they had the people’s choice dance and then a re-do of their lowest scoring dance. They were slated to dance next-to-last for both. They did a re-do of their week three salsa first, getting two tens and a nine from Blue. Killian was definitely better at shaking his hips than he had been when the competition started.

Then they took the floor for their quickstep. Killian was dressed like Captain Hook, only this costume was made of light, stretchy imitation leather instead of the heavy garments he wore on his TV show. Killian also joked that his pirate duster on Neverland wasn’t bedazzled like this one.

The studio audience cheered when Rose showed up in the rehearsal footage. Emma actually smiled as it played; the three of them really had a great time together that day. She glanced over to the studio audience where Rose was sitting in the front. She winked at Emma and gave her a thumbs up. As the package wound to a close, Emma turned to Killian, stepping into his embrace. Her hair was done up in a loose bun and she wore the green tunic dress as Tinkerbell.

The bright, light, and airy piano notes of the Neverland theme began to play, and Emma and Killian began their routine. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but something was different tonight. She was painfully aware of Rose in the audience; painfully aware of the costumes they both wore. She usually could slip into a role so easily, but tonight she felt like an imposter. The Captain Fairy fandom was in the back of her mind the whole time. How were they receiving this dance? Emma was frustrated with herself when the final notes faded out, realizing she had been stuck in her head the entire time.

Killian put his arm around her and pulled her close as they turned to the judges. The results were a big surprise; for once, Tiana was their toughest critic.

“I don’t know what it was, but I felt a disconnect,” she told them.

In the end, she gave them a nine while Teach and even Blue gave them a ten (for their flawless quickstep technique). Emma’s shoulders slumped, even though Killian told her he was thrilled with the performance. She hated it because she knew who was at fault for the disconnect Tiana had mentioned. Emma could blame no one but herself. With so few dancers left, time was brief, so she didn’t have the luxury of slipping backstage to nurse her wounds. But Killian caught her hand and squeezed it. When she looked up at him, his gaze was soft.

“You can do this, Emma.”

She blinked. “Do what?”

“Anything,” he said huskily, brushing at a stray curl that framed her face, “for I have yet to see you fail.”

She pressed her lips together, trying desperately not to let him see how deeply those words touched her. She was rescued from having to respond when an assistant director barked at them to take their places downstairs before the commercial break ended.

Emma and Killian took their place with the rest of the celebs and their dancers: figure skater Aurora Briar, football player Lance Knight, and finally, Belle. Killian was still in his pirate garb and hook, but he still wrapped his arms tightly around her. Emma leaned back into him, her eyes closed tight. There was still no guarantee they had made it into the finals, and if that lackluster performance had been their last, Emma would kick herself.

“The first couple dancing in the finals is . . .” Marco paused dramatically, “Belle French and her partner Jefferson!”

Belle let out a loud squeal and almost knocked Jefferson over with the force of her hug. Emma smiled up at Killian; they both adored Belle and were happy for her. Honestly, Emma felt that whoever in this group made it into the finals, they would deserve it.

“The next group to make the finals . . . “ this time it was Ashley dragging out the suspense, “Aurora and Sean!”

Sean Herman, her brother David’s best friend since the eighth grade, shouted and lifted his partner off her feet, spinning her around. Sean had been on the show since the fourth season and had never made the finals. David would be thrilled for him.

The lights dimmed in the entire studio, and two spotlights shone down on Emma and Killian on stage left, and Lance and Gwen on stage right. Emma bit her lip and shifted so she could wrap her arms around Killian’s waist. They had been dancing strong all season, but Lance was an NFL football player, and football players had always done extremely well on Dancing on the Stars. Many of them had won the mirror ball.

“The final couple...“ Marco intoned, “performing in the finals...is...“

Emma grasped Killian’s forearm in a vise-like grip. Couldn’t Marco just get to the damn point?

“ ...Killian Jones and Emma Swan!”

Emma felt her knees buckle beneath her, but Killian kept her on her feet as he squeezed her tight. She didn’t know whether to shout for joy or cry. Finally, the mirror ball might actually be hers.

Emma was so excited, she couldn’t help but go on social media before bed that night to see what Killian’s fans were saying about him making the finals. And, she had to confess, she probably was also craving some positive feedback after their lackluster quickstep. Emma was shocked when the buzz online wasn’t about the Neverland dance, or Killian’s hip-shaking in the salsa, or even their place in the finals. No, Killian’s fans were demanding one thing and one thing only.

My Mahou Shoujo list

Yeah, I have been watching Magical Girl anime since the age of seven. I started with Sailor Moon, but shortly after I was totally obsessed with Mahou Shoujo genre. So, why not to write something about it?

Today I will present you my favorite Magical Girl series. One is better, one is worse, but the thing is I LOVE THEM ALL. You understand? So let’s begin.

(The order is completely random, by the way. There also can be a little bit of spoilers. I’ll try not to say anything that may spoil the plot.)

Yuki Yuna Is a Hero

Also known as Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de aru. Perhaps my favourite Mahou Shoujo anime of all time. Yuyuyu tells a story of Yuna Yuki and her friends, members of The Hero Club - something like volunteering group. One day Fu, Hero Club president, tells the other girls that they were choosen by God Shinju to fight Vertexes - monsters that are going to dostroy the world. Girls seem to defeat Vertexes quickly at first (they even meet another Heroes later), but situation becomes more complicated when they discover dark secrets of Hero System.

What I like about this anime? That it was really heartwarming story about friendship. Even if it was dark at the end, it wasn’t... that dark. I mean - not as dark as “Madoka Magica”, for example. And that it was really fun to watch because you would never be sure what will happen.

Favourite scene(s): The final battle. IT WAS SOOOOO EPIC! Ah, and don’t forget the most hillarious scene in the second season - when Tougo-san tries to enter Yuna’s room, but she can’t, because of her breasts! That was very short scene, but so funny!

Favourite character(s): Itsuki Inubozaki, because she’s so cute, and Mimori Tougo, because of how deep is her character. I also like Sonoko Nogi, because she’s just like me. At least in „Washio Sumi no Shou” and „Yuusha no Shou”.

Any ships?: I like Mimori x Yuna.

Favourite soundtrack: „Eleven Stars Five Flowers” and „Hoshi no Hana”. I also like „Hanakotoba” very much.

My Magicaholic Summation?: The ending was cruel for me. And I wonder why I like and hate Karin at the same time.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Also known as Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. That was first anime I really „watched”. When it comes to Sailor Moon, I just was watching transformations and attacks. But when I started watching Madoka Magica... let’s just say I love it. I’m waiting for Magia Record anime.

Anyway, it tells a story of Madoka, completely and absolutely ordinary student who one day meets Kyubey, little catlike alien. Kyubey offers Madoka and her friend Sayaka granting their wishes in exchange for fighting Witches as Magical Girls. Witches are monsters that „generate” despair and cause suicides and accidents and Magical Girls have to defeat them in order to save another people. Madoka and Sayaka meet Mami, a Magical Girl who protecs their city. Everything seems „colourful” at first, but girls quickly discover dark secrets of Magical Girls...

What I like about Madoka Magica is the concept. It’s, I think, the first Mahou Shoujo anime that asks this question: „Does being a Magical Girl always means happiness?”. It was such a big hit because of this question that me and basically everyone were thinking about. It’s not a pink, fluffy story like the other Mahou Shoujo series. It’s story about despair, sacrifice and friendship that can defeat death. But I’m sure you won’t regret watching it.

Favourite scene(s): Homura’s final fight and „Happy Days” in Rebellion Movie, including Cake Song scene that I absolutely love.

Favourite character(s): Homura Akemi, because of her character. Sacrificing your entire life for your friend - you image that?!

Any ships?: Madoka x Homura. MadoHomu is my life.

Favourite soundtrack: „Magia”. Definitely.

My Magicaholic Summation?: If a cute talking cat had come to my house and offered me becoming a Magical Girl, I would ask them WHAT THE F**C ARE CONSEQUENCES. Then I would either become a Magical Girl or kick the cat out of my house.

Gen’ei o Kakeru Taiyō

Also known as Day Break Illusion or Il sole penetra le ilussioni. It tells a story of Akari Taiyō, a young girl that loves tarot. One day she accidentaly kills her cousin. It turns out later that Akari can use power of The Sun, one of Elementar Tarot cards, and she unconsciously defeated Daemonia - a monster made of her cousin’s despair. After another fight with Daemonia Akari joins an organization called Sephiro Fiore and fights Daemonias with three other girls that use Elementar Tarot cards as well. Things get more and more darker when girls discover the truth about their powers and destiny...

Honestly, it was the first dark Mahou Shoujo anime with happy ending I’ve ever watched. I enjoyed watching it a lot. I don’t really understand why people hate this anime. I mean, it wasn’t very good. But it wasn’t bad either. @lydia--chan can confirm my words.

Favourite scene(s): That fantastic final battle with Cerebrum. I love it.

Favourite character(s): Luna Tsukuyomi, because she’s so cute when she acts like a neko character in yuri anime (XD) and Akari Taiyō, because she cares for her friends so much. AND THAT FIRE HAIR, I LOVE IT.

Any ships?: Akari x Luna.

Favourite soundtrack: Of course Traumerei! And also Mirage.

My Magicaholic Summation?: With your feelings and determination, you can even change destiny.

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku

Also known as Magical Girl Raising Project. Imagine The Hunger Games but with Magical Girls - that is MSIK’s plot. It tells a story of 12 girls from N City that play game called Magical Girl Raising Project. They are choosen to become real Magical Girls. One of these girls is Koyuki Himekawa who loves Mahou Shoujo (just like me) and wanted to become one - now her dreams came true...

But soon the situation dramatically changes. One day Fav, MGRP’s mascot, tells Koyuki (who is now known as Snow white) and the other girls that there’s too many Magical Girls in the city and the number of users of magic is going to be reduced. It later turns out that losing powers causes Magical Girl to die. Soon the competition changes into a fight for life and death...

I loved this anime because it keeps you in suspense and it has a lot of threads - every Magical Girl’s story is explained clearly. A lot of action, fight scenes and DEATH - that’s what MSIK offers to you.

Favourite scene(s): Talk of Snow White and La Pucelle form episode 1. It was so cute.

Favourite character(s): Snow White, because she’s like me (a little fearful, always optimistic and completely obsessed ith Mahou Shoujo genre); La Pucelle, because she wanted to protect Snow White so much I can only call this a love; Hardgore Alice, because she was cute and so devoted to Snow White... you will understand later.

Any ships?: Snow White x La Pucelle. I don’t know if I can or can’t call it a yuri ship. I think... it depends.

Favourite soundtrack: DREAMCATCHER. It’s just amazing. And when you watch ending and see all this Magical Girls you will soon be crying because of... eh, you just want to cry.

My Magicaholic Summation?: Watch out - FLYING FISHES ARE JUST STUPID MOTHERF***ERS. Also - if you wanna play a Magical Girl game, check who is developing it. It may save your life.
