I'm not sure why i never thought of it before but can you imagine Johnny Cage out on the picket lines for the WGA/ SAG-ACTRA strike showing his unwavering support:
Johnny walking the picket lines, taking selfies with the other striking members.
Ordering a catering service to feed the strikers.
Organizing paid sparring matches with the funds going back to helping fund the out of work writers and actors.
Cage Movie pickets gathering the actors, production staff and crew.
Also let's not forget Sonya being quietly proud and helping organize things when she can. Cassie helping her dad make signs with witty slogans and walking with him.

There's been AI covers of songs going around for ages on tiktok (ones I'm referring to in this post are covers by 'Arthur Morgan' from Red Dead 2, however there are hundreds of others, be they characters from shows or actual musical artists) and they've never sat fuckin right with me.
With the strike going on, and cooperation's saying they're going to start using AI generated actors (their body scans AND voices), these tiktoks are like a genuine problem now.
Roger Clark, then man who voiced Arthur Morgan in the video game has spoken about it now, and noted how harmful it is, saying he "doesn't get a kick out of it at all" and that it is "Plagiarism Software". These AI 'Covers' ARE Plagiarism.
If you'd like the definition of the word, Oxford Dictionary states it's "Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own, with or without consent of the original author (Or in the case of AI "original creator" = original writer, actor, artist, etc)". That means ALL your AI art, ALL your AI writing, ALL those AI character chat bots you use ALL the AI song covers, ALL of them being GENERATED by an AI WITHOUT CONCENT FROM THE ORIGINAL CREATORS are Plagiarized Works.
Now, because so many people think they can just use AI and not have to worry about the consequences (because for some reason, they think there is none), here's what can happen if you're caught using Plagiarized works; This Scribblr article states what can happen if you use plagiarized works in a university, college or high school environment, which is becoming a problem with AI generated essays, etc. (It also Included a section on why it's so serious - a section easily transferred into AI generated Fanfiction). best case scenario is that you get an automatic zero score. Worst case, expulsion. Here in Australia, according this article by Criminal Defense Lawyers Australia, under our copywrite law, the penalty for plagiarism can be up to 5 years imprisonment, and/or a 600,000 AUD fine.
There's many, many other articles one could comb though, above is only two, and while neither of them directly mention AI works, the idea IS the same. AI works are copywrite. AI works are plagiarism. AI works are dishonest, and they are ruining the creative field in an extremely brutal and heartless way. There are people here who are being stolen from - not just in creative spaces like fandom or art - but their very jobs, their livelihoods (show writers, actors, musicians).
Those using AI are being unethical, and selfish, and I know they will be stubborn too. But if you use AI you are supporting it. If you're supporting it, then you are willingly sitting and watching people die, slowly. And I'm sorry (not really), but people who are like that don't deserve to keep their toys.

Superhero fiction, especially Spider-Man and X-Men, teaches kids valuable life lessons like "The media will misrepresent the truth to benefit the interests of their bosses."
I'm sure a lesson like that would be useful if, oh I don't know, the AMPTP hired a PR firm called The Levinson Group to obfuscate blame for the strike.

Don’t boycott Hollywood - YET.
Hey, fans who support the striking writers and actors: Don't boycott movies or streaming services for the sole purpose of sending a message in support of the WGA and SAG. YET. Boycotts are only effective if the executives can look at the numbers before and after the unions ask the public for a boycott, and see their income falling off a cliff face. If they don't see a sharp downward line, the boycott can be less effective. The line sauntering vaguely downwards as a result of random amounts of people deciding to boycott at random points of time isn't as helpful to the unions negotiating as a sudden reduction. SINCE neither union is asking for boycotts right now (7/15/23), DON'T change your spending patterns for Hollywood output. Continue spending as normal, if you already spend. (If you already pirate most of your stuff, it doesn't matter what you do in terms of spending, you can't help that line go down more. Spread the word instead!) Hold that boycott action for when / if the unions ask for that move. They very well might ask for that! But not yet. The best way to support "organized" labor actions is to be organized ourselves! Keep an ear open, you'll hear if/when a boycott is called for!

Note
but chile with all these stars in dune and not having a press tour they need to delayed the movie now
Lol you may have to take that up with Warner Brothers Anon 😅
Tumblr media
But it's already been 100 days now since the strike, and the outlook isn't looking too good. 😕
We've already surpassed the PREVIOUS writer's strike back in 2007.
Tumblr media
The AMPTP hasn't been willing to negotiate on ANY of the points. 😤
youtube
Many are sharing opposing opinions.... very interesting... 🤔
youtube
So yea, it's not looking too good Anon. 😔
BTW, actor Ron Pearlman ain't playin'!! Rofl 😆 🤣
Don't mess with him lol 😆 🤭
Bob Iger should be ashamed of himself 🥴 Yea, Disney had a setback during the pandemic (who didn't?), but c'mon, Disney is still making way more money than most corps. 😒

Let me say this now:
WE SUPPORT THE STRIKES! WE WANT THE STRIKES TO LAST FOR AS LONG AS NEEDED TO GET THE BILLIONAIRES TO BEND OVER AND TAKE IT!! WE STAND WITH THOSE WHO ARE IN STRIKE BECAUSE IF THEY LOSE WE WILL ALL LOSE, OUR EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND PRIVILEGES ARE BECAUSE OUR ANCESTORS FROM A CENTURY AGO FORMED UNIONS AND SAID NO YOU DON’T GET TO WORK US TO THE BONE FOR NOTHING.
But alas we are back to that point, don’t let corporations tell you that you aren’t worth the money. Don’t let them tell you the company is struggling even as they make hundreds of millions if not billions a quarter….

I’m so happy for them
[Image Description: Castiel from Supernatural is saying I love you, underneath is an image of Dean Winchester with the caption: “After four months of striking the WGA has a reached a tentative agreement & finalizing the contract. If all goes well writers will get to return to work with better pay and protections. They did it. Go unions”]

Facebook deleted this almost immediately. It's almost like the ultrawealthy don't want us knowing or talking about what's at stake.

Wow.
Wow that was FAST. Check out this YouTube ad I just got trying to hire scabs immediately.
Tumblr media
The fact that they're advertising it as hourly pay is so telling that they're hoping to just hire random people off the street. They're trying to prey on desperate actors who don't know that $180/hr for a fucking GODZILLA movie is the hugest rip off anyone could possibly pull. No rights, royalties or residuals but hey at least you'll get paid fucking nothing!

WHY THEY STRIKE: Sean Astin (SAG), Member of the SAG-AFTRA Negotiating Committee & Actor on Lord of the Rings
"They're paying us late. At Universal. And Warner Brothers. And Disney. And Amazon. And Hulu. And Netflix. Are you kidding me?" Sean Astin makes an impassioned speech on the SAG picket line. Today, August 13, 2023 marks 30 days since the start of their strike (July 14, 2023).
