Hi! Certainly! While it isn’t possible to develop a disorder like DID or OSDD in adulthood (these disorders require repeated trauma in early childhood!), it is absolutely possible for someone to develop a system due to stress or trauma at any age. This is an unfortunate reality for many systems (unfortunate that their systems were formed due to trauma and stress).

We’re sorry to hear that your friend has been having issues with people not believing her! It’s so sad that so many systems are regularly fakeclaimed, harassed, made fun of, or not taken seriously due to other people’s unwillingness to acknowledge things they don’t understand. We hope that soon your friend can find validation within herself and the support she needs to help her system flourish!

I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.
