Welcome
Tech x F!Reader
When a medic is introduced to their new crew and a certain clone catches their eye..
Notes:
First time writing in a while so don’t expect too much from me. Also this is based in Pre The Bad Batch era so all boys are here but no Omega.
Warnings: Fluff, Slightly awkward reader and Tech, no smut, that should be it.
Word count: 2.0k
Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe it. You had finally after all these years graduated your medical classes and were going to have your very own group of clones to protect. You had always dreamed of being a medic since you were a child and now that it was happening it seemed surreal. You promised yourself zero distractions and to always put your best foot forward. Some other things seemed to catch your wandering eye though

Pushing down your nerves as best as possible you think of all the possible outcomes that might come out of this. You had been known to talk a little too much about things you enjoy, you just had to pray this crew wouldn’t mind your talking. Maybe there would be someone similar enough to you to bond with because you did know this crew was different so to say. That’s what you had been told at least by your teacher before assignments were made. Different how? You didn’t know yet all you could do was hope it wasn’t in a bad way.
As you walk up to your assigned ship there is a long haired clone accompanied by an extremely large and tall clone in your viewpoint. Well this was about to be interesting. As you approached you saw a three more clones lingering just before the door hatch watching your entrancing with a mix of judgement, curiosity, and what was that? He wasn’t even looking he was looking at his datapad.
The long haired clone who you had previously only known as CT-9901 introduced himself as Hunter, the leader of his brothers and that he had heightened sense that of near a Jedi. The next to introduce himself was the very large but surprisingly sweet clone who goes by Wrecker. They invited you inside their ship after the introductions to be introduced to the rest of the crew.
The next clone introduction was about as smooth as you thought it would be when you saw his judgmental eye watching your ascent. His name is Crosshair, the group’s sharpshooter, but he looked more like he wanted to shoot you than even be bothered by the conversation. After the horrendous intro with Crosshair, you came to know Echo. Half clone, half cyborg which intrigued you by wanting to know the way such an occurrence happened.
“Wait Hunter I thought there was one more brother of yours?” you say while turning to look at Hunter after surveying the room. “Ah yes Tech seems to have gone back to the cockpit.” Hunter states. “Probably got scared when he saw a girl coming aboard.” Crosshair says while elbowing a snickering Wrecker. Blush immediately paints your cheeks while Crosshairs words filter through your head. “Say what now?” You question Crosshairs words while watching a smug grin appear on his face. “Ignore him let me introduce you to Tech.” Hunter says saving you from further embarrassment.
The short walk to the cockpit was more awkward than you wished. When the doors to the cockpit opened the blush that had just faded immediately returned to its home on your face. The only thought that filled your head was wow. He was one of the most attractive men you had ever met in your life. It completely and utterly shocked you that someone you thought would be so trivial, would suddenly completely encapsulate your attention in such a manner.
Your attention was immediately snapped back when you heard him speak “Hello you must be our new team medic. I am Tech the brains and mechanic of the crew and before you came along the part time medic.” He says while reaching out a gloved hand to you to shake. You take him hand wordlessly while Hunter stands in absolute shock at the fact that Tech was the one to initiate physical touch and not the counterpart. “Hello I’m (y/n) it’s good to meet you Tech and I’m sorry for stealing your spot as the part time medic of this crew” you say stumbling over your words because of how completely and utterly entranced you were.
Hunter stood unable to not hear how your heart rate had elevated while talking to Tech and how Tech’s seemed to be doing something of a similar nature which was very unlike him in any way. “It is all fine with me considering I have other very pressing matters on my hands anyway.” Tech states but then immediately realizes his mistake because you and him for some reason or another are still shaking hands making you appear as the pressing matters at hand. “Oh sorry I have just noticed It had slipped my mind to retract my hand from yours” Tech says mumbling under his breath while you just stand there growing an even deeper shade of pink. When Tech takes note of how your face seemed to flush more by the second his face suddenly appeared slightly crimson. After he realized this he immediately states “Speaking of pressing matters I have to do some inspecting of the ship see you soon and ah you to Hunter” while rushing past you and slightly bumping your shoulder causing a confused sigh to fall from your lips. Now the only thought racing through your mind was, what just happened here?
Tumblr media
Rotation after rotation has passed since you had joined the crew you came to know as the “Bad Batch” but you felt they were quite great. Crosshair eventually warmed up to you slightly, while the others remained warm and welcoming. One man still had your eye though. Tech as he calls himself. After your first interaction he seemed willing to speak but still very reserved in an odd way, and it seemed his brothers noticed this shift in behavior too. There were whispers that he was acting unlike anything they had seen from him before. Especially when it came to routine medical checkups.
One day post mission, the routine checkups were needed like always. One after another came through until it was finally Tech’s turn. When Tech sat down it was immediately recognizable something was off. Putting your already building nervousness aside you ask “is something wrong Tech?”. Tech sits down on the medical table but immediately looks up to answer your question “Medically I believe I am fine, yes. But there are other things that appear to be at the forefront of my mind currently”. Putting down the stethoscope you had just picked up, you ask “and what may those “things” be Tech?”. He didn’t even expect you to care so with your sudden question he appears slightly uncomfortable or maybe even a touch flustered. “Oh nothing that may be of concern to you cyar-“ Tech says but stopping himself before he makes the mistake of calling you something that may make you uncomfortable. Not missing his almost slip of words a certain confidence suddenly enters you “Well if you say so mesh’l-.” stopping yourself the same way Tech did. It was hard to miss the flustered look that appeared on his face after that move.
Tumblr media
Later that evening while drifting through hyperspace, you seemed to being falling into your previous pattern, hyperspace insomnia. While laying face up in bed trying to think of something to do an idea dawns on you. You knew Tech would be awake because he barely sleeps anyway and he was on watch tonight. Seemed as if the new plan was to go bother Tech in the cockpit. While making your way to the cockpit you accidentally trip on one of the many wrappers Wrecker leaves out after eating his rations. Hitting the ground with a hard thud and a groan you open your eyes to see a certain someone standing above you. “That was quite the fall (y/n) needs some help getting up?” Tech questions with a hand reached out to you. Immediately feeling the heat go to your cheeks you respond with a slight stutter “Uh yea sure thank you Tech.” The blush in your face dosen’t go unnoticed by Tech. Raising an eyebrow at this he asks “Are you okay? You seem to be a bit red in the face. Did the wind get knocked from you maybe?”. Tech taking notice of your current flustered state just makes the situation even worse. “I’m fine! Was coming to find you because I couldn’t sleep actually” you state in a reserved tone with your head slightly downcast. “Well I could use some company if I’m being honest. Gets boring being the only one awake sometimes” Tech says. With this agreement between you two you and Tech walk off to the cockpit. Being sure not to trip on anything else Tech takes the few steps into the cockpit first and reaches his hand out for you to grab onto while making the ascent up the stairs. “Why thank you Tech didn’t know you could be such a gentleman.” you say with a slight flirt to your voice. Tech taking notice of the shift in your tone says “The least I could do for you Cyare.” not even trying to cover up the nickname cause you to turn a dark shade of crimson before him.
Sitting down in the co-pilot, you turn the seat to face Tech. “Well how’s your night been sir?” you say with a slight amusement in your voice. Tech picking up on the use of your words responds with an equally amused tone “Night’s doing as it normally does but I would say slightly better now that you’ve bestowed yourself in my presence doctor.”. Laughing slightly by the use of the new nickname you reply casually with “Well I’m glad to be apart of it.”. A comfortable silence fills the cockpit. Not awkward just comfortable.
Tech suddenly breaks the silence causing you to jump in your seat a touch “(Y/n) I have something to tell you that I’ve been trying to remove from my everyday thoughts since the moment I met you but I just don’t believe I can do that without getting some kind of closure or acceptance.”. Slightly confused but willing to listen you say “Go on then.”. Tech takes a deep breath but then goes for it “I would love to put this simple but the way I think and the way you are is anything but simple. Every time I see you, a feeling I have never seemed to experience before takes over my normally logical mind. I’ve done my research but I still can’t pinpoint what this feeling is. I do wonder though if you feel the same way or if this is just a one way road?”. Starting at Tech in shock at his sudden confession you do something you probably wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t a mix of the lack of sleep and adrenaline coursing through your veins. You reach out and put a hand on his cheek, he tenses for a small moment but then leans into your touch. “I really don’t think you know how many rotations I’ve been waiting for you to say that.”. While talking you didn’t realize how progressively closer you had gotten until your faces were only inches from each other. “(Y/n) would it be possible for me to kiss you?” Tech says reluctantly. “I would love tha-.” You say getting cut off by his lips on yours in a tender but at the same time hungry and long awaited kiss. “I believe I know what this feeling is now mesh’la” Tech says with a warm tone just after pulling away .

what if like. bad batch x reader where reader is a medic (HUNTER CANT DO EVERYTHING HES TIRED 😭) whom they have hired and taken in as part of the team. she’s really understanding and sweet and the type to call all her patients ‘sweetie, or honey, or baby’ in like an ‘i know it hurts, sweet boy just a teeeeny little prick, okay?’ sort of way. so the batch like all separately start to have teeny little crushes.
“Just a Teeny Prick, Sweetheart”
Bad Batch x Reader
Hunter was tired.
Exhausted, really. The kind of tired that seeps into the marrow of your bones, the kind that sleep doesn’t fix anymore. He was holding his squad together with sheer willpower, dwindling rations, and stim packs, and Tech had said something the other day that actually stuck:
“Statistically, it would be more efficient to outsource a trained medic. We are ill-equipped for sustained self-triage.”
That, paired with Wrecker nearly bleeding out after a skirmish on Corellia because someone (Echo) had “accidentally” used the wrong bacta dilution, finally pushed Hunter to agree.
You came highly recommended.
And you were
 different.
âž»
The first time they saw you in action, you were crouched over Wrecker’s arm, cooing at him like he was a scared child.
“I know it stings, baby. Just a teeny prick, okay? You’re doing so good, honey.”
Wrecker—literal tank of a man, bruiser of nightmares—was blushing.
Like, full-body, ears-pink, avoiding-eye-contact blushing.
Hunter stood behind you blinking slowly. Tech actually stopped typing. Echo raised an eyebrow. Crosshair made a noise in his throat that might have been a suppressed laugh.
You, of course, were oblivious to the storm you’d just kicked off.
“All done!” you announced brightly, patting Wrecker’s arm as you bandaged it up. “You were so brave, sweetheart. Go on, get yourself a treat.”
Wrecker beamed. Like a puppy who’d been told he was a good boy.
And from that moment on, everything changed.
âž»
Hunter didn’t mean to stare. He really didn’t.
But he started noticing things.
The way your voice softened when you worked on him—“Deep breath, baby. In and out, just like that—good boy.”—and he’d nearly dropped dead right there. The way your hands lingered just a second too long when you pressed a bacta patch to his ribs. How your touch didn’t hurt even when it should.
He’d caught himself looking at you more than once while you cleaned your kit or tucked your hair behind your ear. You hummed while organizing supplies. You smelled like sterile wipes and something sweet. You called him “darlin’” once and he had to physically leave the room.
He started volunteering for med checks even when he was fine. “Just making sure I’m cleared for the next mission.”
You smiled every time. “Of course, sweet boy.”
Hunter was not okay.
âž»
Tech was confused at first. Your bedside manner was
statistically illogical. Surely grown men didn’t need to be called “sugar” or “darlin’” to survive triage.
And yet—
“You did amazing, sweetheart,” you said once, after removing a shard from his thigh. “So still, such a good patient.”
He’d never flushed so fast. His datapad nearly slipped from his fingers. The next day, he updated your medical database for efficiency—and also uploaded a music playlist that made you beam and say “Oh! This is perfect, thank you sugar.”
He recalibrated your scanner after that.
And your med droid.
And the lighting in the medbay.
And then started inventing reasons to come back. “Mild tinnitus,” “possible corneal abrasion,” “a faint ache in my ankle.” All documented. All excuses.
He was fine.
He was not fine.
âž»
Echo didn’t trust you at first. Too soft-spoken. Too sweet.
But then he watched you work during a firefight—calm under pressure, patching him mid-cover behind crates while blaster fire flew overhead.
You were gentle, but you didn’t flinch. Not once.
“You’re okay, baby. I’ve got you. Just keep pressure there, that’s it.”
He looked at you sideways, something twisting in his chest.
Later, after the fight, you came to check his stitches. “You really held it together,” you said with a warm smile. “Tough cookie.”
He snorted. “I’ve been called worse.”
You tilted your head. “Well, I call you Echo. And you’re one of my favorites.”
He didn’t know what to say. He just nodded and looked away.
And when you touched his metal arm without flinching—even thanked him for holding his own gauze—he felt
 seen.
He was used to being patched up. But not to being cared for.
Now he sits just a little closer to you at meals. Offers you the first ration bar. He pretends not to notice when you call him “honey” again.
But he does.
âž»
Crosshair didn’t say anything for a long time.
He watched you. A lot. Silently. Unnervingly.
He noticed how your hands didn’t shake, how your tone stayed steady. You never flinched from his scars. You never forced him to speak.
One day, you caught him cleaning his rifle with a nasty cut on his hand.
“Cross,” you said gently, crouching beside him. “That’s gonna get infected, baby. C’mere.”
He raised a brow. “You call all your patients baby?”
You smirked. “Only the stubborn ones.”
He let you clean it. Didn’t complain once. Not even when you blew gently on the wound before bandaging it. His ears turned red, though.
“You’re good at this,” he said quietly.
You winked. “Don’t tell the others. They’ll want special treatment.”
He definitely did not steal one of your gloves to keep in his kit later.
Definitely not.
âž»
Wrecker had it bad.
From the second you cooed at him and called him “sweet boy,” he was gone.
He came to you for everything. Paper cuts. Headaches. “Funny feelings in his tummy” that were totally not butterflies. He’d pretend to limp just to get you to touch his shoulder.
And you? You were so nice about it.
“Oh, baby, you poor thing. Let me kiss it better.”
You didn’t actually kiss it. But he thought about asking. Just once.
He made you a little plushie out of spare parts and gave it to you with a bashful grin. “It’s you! Well, kinda. I made it ‘cause you always take care of us.”
You squealed. Hugged it to your chest. “This is the cutest thing anyone’s ever made me!”
Wrecker nearly passed out.
âž»
Eventually

You start to notice.
How they hover just a little too long. How they all suddenly have “injuries” every time you do inventory. How they flinch slightly—but in a good way—when you call them sweetheart.
One night, you say it out loud at dinner.
“You boys sure do get hurt a lot. Almost like you’re doing it on purpose.”
They all freeze.
Then Echo coughs. Tech pushes up his goggles. Wrecker drops a fork. Crosshair mutters, “Told you it was obvious.” And Hunter—poor Hunter—rubs the back of his neck and avoids your eyes.
You lean forward, resting your chin in your hand with a smile.
“It’s okay,” you say sweetly. “I don’t mind being the team’s favorite. As long as I get paid in compliments.”
Wrecker nearly yells, “YOU’RE SO PRETTY.”
Tech immediately corrects, “Statistically, she has extremely symmetrical features.”
Crosshair sighs. “Maker, you’re all pathetic.”
Hunter just looks at you, dead serious. “You keep us together. You matter.”
You blink. A little stunned.
Then you grin. “Guess I better stock up on bacta patches, huh?”

not your fault | tech x injured!reader
Tumblr media
a/n: tiny little tech drabble because i miss him tremendously
word count: 400
warnings: descriptions of injury and wound dressing
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You let out a frustrated sigh, trying to keep your grip on the bandage that had unraveled from your forearm. It shook in your unsteady hand as you attempted to secure it around the bacta patches covering the deep gash that spread from your wrist to your elbow. But it was to no avail, as every attempt to pull it tight enough with one hand caused the fabric to loosen from where you had braced it between your other arm and your chest.
In the dim light of the Marauder, you could see the edges of the bacta slowly beginning to turn crimson, desperately in need of compression. As your pain and frustration grew, you felt something hot flash in your mind, pricking at the corners of your eyes. You drew in a deep breath and pursed your lips, refusing to succumb to your emotions.
A sudden movement caught your attention, and you turned toward the ship’s cockpit where the soft light of a datapad lit up Tech’s face. His eyes fixed on you, and the mess of a med-kit beside you. He approached wordlessly, setting his device to the side as he sat on a cargo crate across from you.
“May I?” He looked to you for permission, his voice low so as not to disturb his resting brothers nearby. Gaze falling to the floor, you gave an almost imperceptible nod—but he was keen on noticing things. Gently, he took the bandage from your hand, gathering it back into a roll. He wrapped his hand around your fingers to steady their movement, carefully pulling your arm forward to rest on his thigh as he began folding the cloth tightly around your wound. After a few minutes of silence he spoke again, “This should not have happened.”
Shame settled even deeper in your chest. You didn’t say anything in response at first, but after a few moments muttered a quiet, “I’m sorry.”
Tech paused his movement for a fraction of a second before returning to your wound as he finished securing the wrap. He adjusted his goggles with one hand, the other lingering next to your arm. This time, his voice carried a weight to it. “I am not blaming you. The probability of the varactyl attacking was extremely low, but not impossible. I
am trying to say that I am sorry. This was my fault.”
You blinked up at him, not expecting his response. If anything, you were bracing for a lecture. And after the stunt you pulled during today’s mission, you felt you deserved one. You softened at his apology. “Tech
you couldn’t have known.”
His expression softened imperceptibly as he met your gaze, “Neither could you.”

************************
A happy sigh escaped you as you stretched, your joints popping, a satisfying pull in your muscles as you moved. You smiled softly to yourself, revelling in the feeling of the sun warming your still-wet skin for your earlier swim in the ocean. The rock beneath you was hot from the mid-afternoon sun, soothing the mild soreness in your muscles. You kept your eyes closed as you bathed in the sunlight, listening to the soft sounds of the ocean waves and the nearby laughter of Omega and Lyana as they played in the surf.
Another gentle sigh escaped you as the feeling of complete contentedness washed over you. After years of fighting and being on the run life on Pabu was something straight out of a dream. It was still hard for you to believe that such a peaceful and beautiful place existed, especially when it seemed like the rest of the galaxy had fallen to terror and ruin. There were still times when the fear that The Empire would return would creep back in, but on afternoons like this one, it was easier to push those thoughts from your mind. You were fairly certain that you could spend the rest of your life on this particular rock and be happy. The gentle breeze, the warm sun, the feeling of the salt water drying against your skin, it was all very quickly lulling you into a state somewhere between sleep and wake.
You were moments away from sleep when a shadow suddenly cast across your face, darkening your vision and causing you to frown. There hadn’t been a single cloud in the sky when you had laid down so the sudden interruption was unusual. Reluctantly, you peeped one eye open to look for the source of the disturbance. The disturbance, it turned out, was a welcome one and took the form of a tall, handsome clone. Your frown instantly vanished, replaced with a soft smile, both eyes opening as you gazed up at Tech. One of the very few people who could disturb you from a sunshine nap without consequences. He was still a few feet away but his height had effectively cast a shadow on most of your upper body. You peeled yourself up from the rock slightly, resting on your elbows as you took in the sight of him.
“Hi,” You greeted softly, your heart rate picking up at the sight of him, just as it always did.
His goggled gaze was intense as he took another few steps closer to you. His eyes trailing over the lines of your body left fire in their wake and you felt your face heat at the attention. You were wearing your usual swimming attire: a pair of repurposed athletic shorts and a bandeau bra, which he’d seen before but judging by the soft flush on his face it was having some sort of effect on him today.  You took a moment to look at him in return, life on Pabu had been kind to him, his skin glowed with a deep warm tan from days spent out in the sun, and his hair was longer than you’d ever seen it, still short but beginning to curl at the ends, and the simple shirt and pants he wore highlighted just how lean and fit he was. Your face flushed further as your heart seemed to stutter in your chest. Some days it was still hard for you to believe how lucky you were to still have him in your life.
After a long moment, he cleared his throat, shaking his head lightly before taking another step towards you, “I-I am in need of your assistance.”
You sat up fully, frowning slightly as worry suddenly bubbled up inside of you. Your eyes scanned him closely, he didn’t look unwell. In fact, he looked the exact opposite but you were concerned nonetheless, “Are you ok?”
“Oh,” Tech replied, sounding somewhat startled by your question, “Yes, I - of course. Nothing is the matter.”
You weren’t entirely convinced but you accepted the hand he had outstretched to you without complaint. It had taken Tech the better part of a year to recover from the injuries he sustained on Eriadu, and even still there were some residuals. Stiffness in the way he carried himself, an occasional stutter or jumbled word, lapses in a once flawless memory, and a near-complete loss of verbal filter. He was still irrevocably Tech though, still the man you loved with every single piece of your heart.
“Are you sure?” You asked again as you watched him stoop down to retrieve the loose linen shirt you had worn as a cover-up down to the beach that morning.
Even before he’d been injured he had always downplayed when something was wrong and that had not changed. Perhaps you were overly cautious, a likely byproduct of watching him be on the brink of death for weeks, but you also knew he didn’t want to worry anyone else when something was bothering him. If anything, that reluctance had only gotten worse since his injury. So you continued to ask, at the very least to soothe your own worries.
There was a gentle smile on his face when he straightened back up. He had looked somewhat nervous when he’d first approached you, but now all traces of that were gone,  “I am certain. I am currently functioning at an optimal performance level.”
You chuckled softly at his words as he held out your shirt, gesturing for you to lift your arms. With a smile you slipped in, face continuing to flush as he helped you re-dress. Your skin tingled as his warm hands brushed against your thighs as he straightened out your hem. You smiled up at him as his one hand moved around the small of your back, bringing you in closer to him with a gentle nudge of his hand, the other lifted to brush a stray strand of hair back from your face. Your skin tingled at the contact and you could feel the beginnings of desire starting to pool in your stomach despite the innocent nature of his touch.
“I am sorry to have disturbed you, you looked very peaceful,” He said softly, his gaze was warm as he traced the lines of your face.
Your smile widened as you shook your head gently, “You’re never a disturbance, Tech.”
He soft chuckle escaped him, one corner of his mouth crooking up in a slight grin, “Well, apologies nonetheless.”
Before you could say anything else he turned his head to look at where his sister and her friend were still splashing about near the shore.
“Lyana, Omega!” Tech called out to them, “Shep would like you up at his domicile within a standard half hour. He requires your assistance with a task.”
“You got it Tech!” Omega called, throwing a quick thumbs up at him before turning her attention back to Lyana. The three of you often spent your free afternoons either down by the beach or out on a boat. You all loved the water, the clones on the other hand were more reluctant. It seemed a lifetime of living in rainy conditions had made them slightly hydrophobic.
You turned your attention back to Tech, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow, “It seems like everybody needs assistance today
”
“It would seem so,” He replied casually, but the way he avoided your gaze had you feeling both amused and suspicious. Usually, Tech was incredibly upfront and to the point about everything, so his vague request for your assistance was unusual. Your eyes narrowed as you looked at him, a question on the tip of your tongue but before you could ask he was speaking again.
“I will explain once we are home,” He said as he grasped your hand in his own, “Come, cyar’ika.”
You flushed at the term, squeezing his hand tighter and following along behind him willingly as he turned and headed towards the stairs leading up to the top of the island.
The walk up to the home you shared with the rest of The Bad Batch was peaceful, occasionally the two of you would stop to say hello to a familiar face but for the most part, you went undisturbed. Every once and a while Tech would look over at you, a flush high up on his cheekbones and such warmth in his eyes that you found your curiosity growing by the moment. You gave yourself a mental pat on the back for refraining from asking any more questions as you reached the door of your small home.
You paused as soon as you passed through the threshold, noticing immediately how quiet it was. Usually, there was one if not multiple people in the house at one time. You knew exactly where Omega was but at this time of day, the absence of his brothers was out of the ordinary. You wracked your brain, trying to remember if they’d mentioned their plans when you’d all sat down for breakfast that morning but you were drawing a blank.
“Where is everyone?” You asked as you shut the door behind you.
Tech turned around to face you, the same, almost mischievous smile from earlier still on his face, “Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair are currently out helping harvest crustacean traps. They will be gone until this evening.”
“Oh,” You responded automatically before the reality of his statement sunk in. You were alone. And in a small house with 6 people living in it, alone time was very hard to come by, “Oh.”
Tech chuckled, reeling you closer until your body was pressed up against his own, "Our time alone has been insufficient as of late. I thought perhaps we could spend the afternoon together.”
You chuckled, shaking your head fondly at the secrecy he had been maintaining the entire walk, “You could have just told me that.”
Tech smiled, his face flushing even more, “I believed the surprise would be more
 romantic.”
“I suppose you are correct,” You replied with a quick laugh before you were standing up on your tip-toes, pressing a kiss to his lips. He lifted his hands to cup your jaw, head tilting down as he hummed against your lips. He was so warm and solid against you that your body immediately ached at the simplest of touches.
He pulled away after a moment with a sigh, one hand trailing down to grasp your own once more. He gave your hand another gentle tug before he turned, heading towards the stairs that led to the second floor where your bedroom was located.
The house was tiny, a gift from Shep after they’d returned from Mount Tantiss, but it was yours and you loved it so completely. You and Tech shared one room, across the hall from where Hunter and Wrecker bunked together, Omega was further down the hall, while Crosshair claimed the one room on the main floor. After having nothing for so long, the brothers had come to love having their own space.
You paused as you passed through the threshold to your room, the sight that greeted you causing your eyes to widen in surprise. Normally, your room tended to look more like a workspace. Bits and pieces of whatever project Tech was currently working on scattered about the place, sometimes even finding their way into the bed. You had lost count of the number of mornings you’d tripped over something or gotten a limb tangled in wire. Now though, the room was completely spotless, everything in its proper place, his projects neatly confined to the desk over in the corner. There was even a vase of freshly picked flowers sitting on one of the nightstands. The window shade had been pulled down, blocking out some but not all of the afternoon sun, bathing the room in a warm, dim glow. Small lights, that looked like spare parts from one of his projects, were a new addition strung around the room.
You couldn’t contain the soft smile on your face as you looked between him and the lights, eyebrows raised questioningly.
“Ah, yes,” He replied, catching your gaze as he adjusted his goggles, “I conducted some research this morning, however, candles are impractical and an incendiary hazard so I hope these will suffice.”
You couldn’t help but laugh lightly at his adherence to fire safety but your heart felt as if it was swelling inside your chest. Just when you didn’t think you could love him anymore, he would go and prove you wrong, “Wow, you’re really pulling out all the stops.”
“Well, yes, of course,” He replied earnestly as he toed the door close behind you before he returned to your side. His touch was gentle as he grasped your forearms, his expression achingly soft as he looked at you, “You deserve nothing less.”
You felt yourself flush at the intensity of his look as you took a step closer to him, resting your hands against his waist. You noticed the slight flush had returned to his own face as he lifted a hand to rest against the junction of your shoulder and neck, his thumb gently tracing against your pulse point and sending a shiver down your spine. Your heart was thundering in your chest, desire pooling in your core as he gazed at you.
You both moved at the same time, his hand sliding up to cup your jaw while your hands slid beneath his shirt to his back, pulling him in flush against you as your lips met. You moaned softly as his nose brushed against your own, his lips were so soft, almost hesitant at first before he deepened the kiss. His free hand moved to the small of your back, pulling you in even closer with a gentle nudge. Your body became completely alive under his touch, every nerve ending singing from the sensation of his skin on yours.
You nipped gently at his lower lip, pulling a deep moan from his chest. The sound was thrilling, this part of your relationship was still relatively new, so every new discovery you made about him made your heart race. Normally, Tech was always so unflappable, calm, and collected in every situation, so being the one to make him come undone was an incredible feeling.
Your relationship had progressed slowly, mostly out of circumstance, not because of any lack of feeling. It had only been a few weeks after the two of you had finally admitted to having feelings for one another that Tech had been injured. Afterward, he’d been so unwell for so long that a relationship had been the absolute last thing on your mind. Now though, being able to explore this phase of your relationship together was the best thing in the galaxy.
Tech’s thumb brushed gently against your jaw for a moment before he was moving, placing gentle kisses down the column of your throat. Your head tilted back on instinct, your body arching forward into his, your skin on fire beneath his lips. He nipped gently at the skin over your pulse point causing you to shudder in his arms, desire flaring in your lower belly.
Suddenly the fabric separating the two of you was too much. You needed to feel his skin on your own, needed to feel how warm, how alive he was. You moved your hands already beneath his shirt until you were tugging up his hem. Tech caught on quickly, lifting his arms up over his head so you could slide off his shirt. You took a half step back as you tossed it somewhere in the room, eyes raking over him. He may have no longer been a soldier but he was still built like one, all lean muscle beneath golden brown skin. Scars littered his chest and stomach, some much newer than others, some a reminder of what had happened, of what he’d survived. By now you knew every single one and had kissed every inch of his skin, but the desire to do so each time you saw him was still as overwhelming as the first.
You barely had the time to enjoy the sight of him before he stepped into your space again, the heat of his body radiating through the thin linen shirt you were still wearing. A squeak of surprise escaped you as he suddenly moved, his hands wrapping around the back of your thighs and lifting you up. Your legs wrapped around his waist on instinct, your arms wrapping around his shoulders as he placed another soft kiss on your neck. He took a few steps back towards the bed until his knees hit the edge, lowering you both down until you were straddling him. Everything inside of you ached as he held you flush against him. You ground your hips against him, seeking the friction you so desperately craved and causing a soft moan to escape him.
A gentle hand on your hip stilled you for a moment before it traveled down and then beneath your shirt, pulling it up and off of you swiftly, your bra following closely after. You shivered, the feeling of being skin-to-skin with him was nearly overwhelming and had you grinding against him once more as heat rushed through you.
“Cyar’ika,” The word came out choked before he kissed you again, mapping a line from your shoulder to your collarbone, to your neck, to your jaw. Your fingers dug lightly into his shoulders at the feeling of his mouth and tongue on you, it was electric. It was both too much and not nearly enough. You wanted him so desperately you felt as if you might simply combust as he finally kissed your lips again, pulling your lower lip gently with his teeth as your hands wound into his hair. He groaned softly as you tugged gently on his curls before he tangled his tongue with your own. Everywhere your skin touched his ached, your pulse was racing beneath your skin as you deepened the kiss, nose brushing up against his own, the edges of his goggles pressing into your face.
He pulled away after a moment and you had to bite your lip to keep in the whine at the loss of contact that threatened to escape you. He frowned before he lifted a hand and pulled off his goggles, tossing them haphazardly towards the nightstand beside the bed. They landed with a suspicious clunk but you were too busy looking at him to check on their wellbeing. You saw Tech without his goggles daily, he slept without them, but there was something different about seeing him without them in these types of moments. You didn’t mind but you knew he didn’t like the way they would sometimes press into your skin as you kissed and the slight distance they caused between the two of you.
You lifted a hand to gently trace the lines of his cheekbone where his goggles normally sat, tracing the indent before moving down his face. Your hand paused momentarily, touch featherlight, as you reached the large scar beneath his left eye where his previous pair had cut into him. The wound had been terrible, so much so that even bacta hadn’t been able to fully repair the skin. Now it served as a faint, silvery reminder of everything he’d survived. Of how strong he was.
“How did I get so lucky?” You asked softly as your thumb traced across his cheek. He closed his eyes for a moment at the sensation before meeting your gaze once more, the look in his warm brown eyes so soft it made your heart feel as though it were constricting in your chest. Before you had met him you had never believed it possible to love another person so much. He just really loved to prove you wrong.
“Technically,” He started, a slight smirk appearing on his face, “the concept of luck is illogical-”
“Oh, no,” You laughed, shaking your head, “Not this again,” Before he could continue the speech you’d heard many times before you were kissing him again, effectively silencing him.
He hummed against your lips once more, one hand reaching back up to cup your jaw as he tilted his hips up into yours, increasing the friction you had been desiring earlier. He was achingly hard against you and the feeling of him pressing against your core had you gasping softly against his lips. He lifted his free hand to trail up your side, touch ghosting against your skin as he made his way up until he gently palmed your breast. Your nipple pebbled against his calloused hand, your own fingers digging further into his shoulders at the overwhelming sensations.
“Tech
” You groaned, head tilting back as he kissed his way down your neck to the hollow of your throat, both hands moving to wrap around your waist as he continued to kiss his way down your body. His lips were scorching against your skin, every nerve ending on fire as he pressed a kiss to the swell of your breast before taking you into his mouth. You moaned again, hips automatically grinding into his as everything inside of you turned molten, lost in the feeling of his tongue on you. He moaned against you as you continued to seek out friction, rocking your hips into his own.
Suddenly he was moving, lifting you up and turning before placing you down gently, your back resting against the pillows at the head of the bed. His hand trailed down your body, fingers hooking beneath the waistband of your shorts. Catching on you lifted your hips to allow him to remove your shorts in one smooth motion. You mourned the loss of contact as he pulled away from you, your body aching with desire for him. You propped yourself up on your elbows to watch him better as he removed his own pants. He was so beautiful. Golden skin flushed with desire, hair mussed where your fingers had run through it, chest heaving slightly, warm brown eyes wide as he looked at you. It was thrilling to know you had done that to him. You wanted him just as badly.
You smiled softly at him, cheeks flushing as you held out your hand to him. He immediately grabbed it, lacing your fingers together as he moved, kneeling on the bed until he was straddling you, long body hovering over your own. The heat of him was intoxicating and you squeezed your thighs together, able to feel where you were already slick and ready for him.
“Beautiful
” he whispered before he bent his head to capture your lips with his own once more. You arched up into him, arms wrapping around his back, pulling him in close until your chests were touching once more. You shivered as his hand slipped between the two of you and paved a slow, torturous path down your body. You moaned, arching further into him as his hand found its way between your thighs. He hummed with pleasure at the wetness he found there, his thumb rubbing gently against your clit and sending all coherent thoughts from your mind.
Normally, you loved his hands on you, he was an expert when it came to getting you off with those long, gentle fingers, but right now you wanted nothing more than to feel him inside of you. You reached up to grasp the back of his neck, forcing him to look at you as you squirmed beneath him, your thighs shaking with desire as you clamped around him.
“Please Tech,” You whined causing him to pause his ministrations, “I need you.”
His eyes widened, his face flushing a deeper shade of red, as though your words had unmoored him. He moved his free hand to rest against your jaw, his thumb stroking at your cheek for a moment. His voice was full of emotion when he spoke again, his forehead tipping down to rest against your own, “Of course ner kar’ta. I’m yours.”
You tilted your chin up to capture his lips with your own as he moved the hand between your legs to grasp the back of your thigh. He lifted your leg up and over his hip, giving him the space to slot between your thighs. He was painfully hard, the head of his cock gliding through your glistening folds as he rocked against you a few times. You gasped as he brushed against your clit, pleasure building to a nearly tortuous level inside of you. His breath was shaky between kisses, hair that was beginning to dampen with sweat falling across his forehead. He groaned as you nipped lightly at his lower lip, bringing it to your mouth. You canted your hips up just slightly, crying out with pleasure as he slid inside of you, filling you up so completely.
The stretch of him was exquisite, it was a pure, blinding pleasure as he remained still for the moment, letting you adjust. His breathing was ragged, the lines of his body taut as he hovered over you. He let out another soft groan, his nose pressing against your own before he slowly started to move inside of you.
“Gods, Tech,” You moaned as he found his rhythm. You felt as if you were on fire, your skin hot and flushed. Every touch from him made you shiver, your body becoming a squirming mess beneath him. He kept one hand on your thigh, keeping your leg up as he set a slow, even pace. The other went to the hollow of your throat, his thumb resting gently against your pulse point. The pressure inside of you was building at a blinding pace as he moved to kiss you again.
It wasn’t enough to tip you over the edge of the orgasm that you were teetering on, you needed more. Sensing your desperation his pace increased as you locked your leg around his hip, bringing him in closer to you so that every thrust has him rubbing deliciously against your clit. You moaned, tilting your head back into the pillows as you canted your hips even further, meeting his thrusts. At that angle, he was hitting that perfect spot inside of you with each thrust. It only took a few more thrusts for you to go toppling head-first into ecstasy.
You cried out his name as your orgasm washed over you, clenching tightly around him, holding him close as pleasure rippled through your body. His pace faltered for a moment and he nipped lightly at your neck, tongue soothing over the spot a moment later as he let you ride out the tail end of your pleasure. Every nerve ending inside of you felt electric, blind pleasure making you feel loose and wonderful in all the right places.
Finally, as you came back into yourself you lifted a hand to thread through his hair, holding him close as he continued to kiss your neck, your shoulder, down to your breasts. He started moving slowly again once your breathing evened out. The same slow, even pace from before, but you could feel the tightness in his body, feel the control he was trying to maintain as his own breaths were ragged, sweat glistening against his skin.
“Wait,” You whispered after a moment as a new desire suddenly filled your mind.
Tech paused instantly, pulling all the way out of you and looking at you questioningly. You used his momentary stillness and your own momentum to your advantage, tangling your legs with his own and wrapping your arms around his shoulders. With strength that surprised even yourself you turned you both, pinning him beneath you on the mattress, your legs on either side of him. You smiled down at him victoriously as you braced your hands on his chest. He looked completely surprised, his face flushing red as he looked up at you with wide eyes that were swimming with desire.
“My turn,” You replied cheekily, leaning down to kiss him deeply before you moved your hips and sunk down onto him.
A choked groan escaped him, his hands flying to your hips as you took him to the hilt. You took a deep breath, head tilting back as you adjusted to the overwhelming sensation of being filled by him in this position. Slowly you rose, finding a steady pace, your fingers digging into the muscles of his chest as you rode him. Within moments Tech was squirming beneath you, his grip on your hips wonderfully tight as he began to meet you thrust for thrust. His skin was incredibly flushed as you placed a kiss on the column of his throat, his breathing even more ragged than before as you slowly began to increase your pace.
He let out a soft swear, which had your own eyes widening in surprise, Tech never swore. You faltered slightly, wondering if maybe it was too much but his grip only tightened, his voice a raspy croak when he spoke, “Please, cyar’ika, do not stop.”
It felt as if your heart skipped a beat, your own desire increasing rapidly as you watched him come undone beneath you. You resumed the same pace as before, leaning in closer to him to kiss along his jawline, nipping and lathing at his skin in equal measure as whispered swears and terms of endearment continued to slip out of him.
In this position you were rapidly building towards another orgasm, your body clenching around him with each thrust, the exact right amount of pressure rubbing up against your clit. Tech leaned up to place a kiss against your collarbone as one hand moved from your hip to around your waist, keeping you close as you continued to ride him. A shaky exhale of air left him as he swore softly once more. His thrusts up into you become more frantic.
The next words out of his mouth were so quiet you barely heard them, “Gods, I love you.”
Your rhythm faltered momentarily as your brain caught up with the words he’d just said. Had he actually said that or had you just imagined it?
Tech had suddenly stilled beneath you, a choked moan escaping his throat as your body clenched tightly around him. When you pulled your head back slightly to look at him his eyes were wide, his cheeks and the tips of his ears red. Clearly, you hadn’t misheard and he had just realized what he had said.
You tried to ignore it, tried to find your rhythm again, but your thoughts were completely jumbled. The orgasm you had been building towards was now just a whisper of desire in your stomach. He’d never said that to you before. You knew that in his own unique Tech way he cared for you deeply, he called you just about every term of endearment in Mando’a, but the love word had never come up. You knew that it was just said in the heat of the moment, that you shouldn’t look into it too much but now that your brain had caught on to the thought it couldn’t seem to stop.
A firm squeeze to your hip had you stilling completely. When you met Tech’s gaze he looked embarrassed, his face redder than you’d ever seen it. Your heart felt as if it was bottoming out inside of you at the expression on his face.
“I-I apologize,” His voice trembled with emotion as he spoke, "I did not intend to make such an admission.”
“Oh,” You managed to squeak out, which was impressive considering the emotions that were welling within you suddenly were completely overwhelming. It was ok, you tried to tell yourself, he didn’t love you yet but maybe one day he would. This was enough, what you had was good, and you could live with this.
“I have upset you,” He stated matter of factly, drawing your attention back to him. With impressive strength he pulled himself up against the head of the bed into a seated position, bringing you along with him. You moved off of him but remained straddling his lap while your heart pounded painfully in your chest.
“No, no Tech it’s fine,” You replied, and it was fine. Everything was fine.
“No, I misspoke,” Tech insisted, his voice taking on its typical clinical and straightforward quality.
You lifted a hand to rest against his face, trying to reassure him as much as you were trying to reassure yourself, “It’s ok, I understand. The heat of the moment and all that
”
Tech’s eyes widened and he shook his head, he lifted a hand to grasp the one you had on his face, pulling it into his own, “That is not what I meant,” He started softly, his eyes suddenly warm with emotion, “I had intended to make that admission in a more
romantic setting. Not during an amorous encounter.”
“Oh,” You started before the weight of his words fully sunk in, “OH.”
Tech chuckled softly as you looked at him in surprise, your voice a high-pitched squeak when you spoke again, “You love me?”
“Well yes, of course,” He stated matter-of-factly as he lifted his free hand to push some loose hair away from your face. His expression turned serious as he continued, “Though I do not find that one word sufficient enough to explain the depth of my feelings for you.”
For a moment you thought that maybe you had died, or maybe that it was all just a dream but then he was kissing you again with such passion that you knew it was real. He loved you.
You hummed with pleasure against his lips, hands moving to wrap around his shoulders as his own arm banded across your waist, pulling you flush against him once more. You felt as if you were floating, your heart hammering in your chest as desire flared in your core once more. He loved you.
You both moaned as he entered you again, heat pooled in your stomach as you met his thrusts, your fingers digging into his shoulders as you found a rhythm together once more. He moved his lips to your shoulder, kissing a line back up to your throat as he thrust up into you. The spark of desire in you had turned into an inferno, rapidly hurtling towards another orgasm as you increased your pace, taking him all the way into you before nearly rising all the way off. The pull of him against you, the way he filled you so completely was completely overwhelming. You ground against him with each thrust, your clit rubbing against the base of him, you were so close that it was nearly painful.
Tech placed a kiss beneath your ear before pulling away just slightly, his lips ghosting against the shell of your ear as he spoke again, “I love you,” His free hand slipped between your bodies, and his words combined with the soft pressure of his hand against your clit had you tumbling over the edge once more. You cried out again as your orgasm washed over you, your fingers digging even tighter into his shoulders as your head tilted to rest against his own. You squeezed your eyes shut tight as you allowed the sensations coursing through your body to completely take over you. You felt his pace falter, his entire body went ridged for a moment as his hips jerked against your own. He moaned loudly, burying his face into your neck as his own orgasm followed.
You were both quiet for a long moment, heads resting together as you both tried to regain some control over your breathing. You felt as if you might just completely melt against him, satiated in a way that made your limbs feel completely loose.
His hold on you was still tight as your breathing began to even out, he moved his head slightly, brushing his nose against you before pressing a gentle kiss to your cheek. You sighed in contentment, there was really nothing more that you wanted than to spend the rest of your days in his arms.
Eventually, he moved, rolling you both until you were lying side by side in the bed. You curled into him, your head resting on his chest as he pulled a thin sheet up to cover you both, the sweat on your skin was rapidly drying and leaving you with a slight chill. He made a content noise as you nuzzled further into him, pressing your face into the crook of his neck and breathing in his scent as he trailed a lazy hand up your spine.
You pulled your head back just slightly to watch him as he reached for his goggles, putting them back into place before he turned to look at you once more. His expression was achingly soft as your gazes met. It made your heart twist in your chest, a soft smile forming on your face as you continued to look at him. You stretched your head forward to place a soft kiss against his cheek before you settled back down against his chest. It was quiet for a long moment, his hand continuing to rub gently against your back as you listened to the steady beat of his heart.
“Tech,” you said softly after a while, causing his hand to pause, “I love you too.”
You tilted your head back up to look at him, meeting his wide-eyed gaze. He looked surprised by your admission which only made you chuckle softly.
He shook his head after a moment, a small smile appearing on his face, “Perhaps, I am the lucky one, after all.”
Your eyes narrowed playfully at him but you were unable to keep a smile off your face, “You said you don’t believe in luck
”
“Yes, well, I may be convinced otherwise if provided with enough concrete evidence,” He said as he lifted his hand to cup your jaw, “And you being in love with me is very convincing.”
You laughed softly, heart soaring in your chest as you leaned up to kiss him once more. Of that, you were completely certain, despite all the odds you were together, you were happy, and both lucky in love.

how they kiss you: part one
Clone force 99:
Tumblr media
character(s): Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Crosshair, Echo
genre: fluff, romance, crack (kinda)
overview: this is literally just how the boys would kiss you. literally just that.
warning(s): Tech doesn’t know how to kiss, Crosshair is a freak, (jk, he just gets a lil spicy with it), mentioned of making out, slobber, Hunter’s a lil suave, sexual innuendos, references and implications of smut
Tumblr media
Hunter:
-okay, but he’s such a gentleman while doing it?
-it depends on his mood really, and what the occasion is.
-Hunter doesn’t overdo kisses, but out of all of them, he is the one who probably will give the most (besides Wrecker, ahem.)
-He’ll kiss you when you wake up, when you make him food, right before he leaves, and when you go to bed.
-Unless he’s feeling a little
ahem. Y’know. A lil teasing that day
-His kisses are deep but short. Enough to make you blush but also leaving you yearning for more
-he’s a lil tease, but if you pout about it, he’ll just send you that boyish smile and give you another one
-”don’t gotta miss me that much, mesh’la,”
-yeah. That’s him..
-Hunter probably has somewhat chapped lips, (as most clones), but not to the point where they scrape yours. And they’re also somewhat thin (like most clones), so basically, they’re not that different from a regs
-except they’re a bit plushier, if that makes sense
-his stubble WILL scratch against you
-he’ll rarely give tongue unless he’s feeling a little freaky and has the intention on, well, y’know.
-”spread those legs, mesh’la,”
-yeah, y’know, the fun stuff
-so yeah.
-kisses are like a 10/10, would recommend
———————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Tech:
-SO AWKWARD.
-sorry Tech lovers, but like. We’re talking about the Tech, the one who can’t understand or take hints whatsoever

-a NERD.
-he’s such a virgin, smh
-but like
 a subtle virgin, ykwim?
-you wouldn’t know he was a virgin. Like, you literally wouldn’t.
-until you kissed him and he expressed his shock and stated that this was an ‘interesting development.’
-”....fascinating. Do it again. This time I’d like to record the acceleration of our heart rates and the texture of your lips against mine. Allow me to retrieve my datapad–”
-yeah. Like. It’s either the most hottest thing hearing him talk all smart after the kiss or the most ‘dude, are you serious’ kinda thing.
-Tech is not really a kisser, but a pecker
-they’re not frequent, but they’re enough for you to still kinda expect them, yk?
-his kisses are chaste and respectful. Never awkward, but usually quick.
-such as, a kiss on your knuckles or your temple or hair. Tech doesn’t go for lips, but he doesn’t mind if you initiate those to him and he will depending on the mood you or him are in
-i actually like to think his lips are actually kinda soft. Not like, baby smooth, but soft.
-i don’t think he gets needy for them, but there are times where he really just wants to feel your lips on him
-he loves the texture and the warmth.
-he won’t really ask though.
-it’s more for ‘experimentation’, in his words.
-”I’d like to explore this further with you. This time, can you kiss me a little bit firmer?”
-7/10 in the beginning, but Tech learns quickly and is extremely observant, and soon learns exactly where to nip, suck, bite, lick, and kiss.
-just give him a little more lessons
-for science, of course
———————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Wrecker:
-okay guys
-he is NOT as innocent as he looks, i’m sorry
-respectful, yeah. Gentle, yeah.
-but INNOCENT?? Yeah, no.
-have you seen that deleted scene in clone wars with the Padme art?
-”Yeah, she could negotiate with me any time!”
-erm. Guys.
-and that translates in his kisses.
-he’s not shy whatsoever.
-gentle, of course, but you want him to be rough?
-oh, he’ll be rough.
-okay, let me backtrack, so when y’all are still new to a relationship and all that, he’s nervous. Holds you like glass and kisses you like he’s unsure if he even wants to.
-he was scared. He knows he’s a big guy, and doesn’t wanna hurt you.
-but once you get to that point in your relationship with a lotta reassurance and carefulness and praise and teasing
-my man is most definitely a tank
-and packing one too– ahem.
-he kisses a lot. Anywhere. Kinda worships you with his mouth, lips, tongue and all. Take that as you will.
-his kisses are passionate. Deep. Like his love for you, but they can also be gentle. Soft.
-Large hands will come and cradle you or hold your hips in place, he loves picking you up when you kiss.
-his lips are different, they’re PLUSH. Plump, and bigger than his other brothers. Fully cushioned. It’s nice.
-”Hey! One more, baby! Miss ya already!”
-he’s actually a good kisser. Like, you’ll be starstruck
-and he’ll be giggling
-the type to be giggling and grinning into the kiss
———————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Crosshair:
-holy. Where do I even start with him.
-he’s smooth. Annoyingly so.
-the type to kiss you to shut you up
-out of all his brothers, I feel like he gets hit on the most when he’s out and about.
-it’s just cuz he’s ‘mysterious’
-he’s actually never really interested, unless he’s feeling rather frisky and pent up
-when he’s not being angsty and emo, he’s actually low-key kinda flirty with you whenever moments like that actually do pop up.
-and you better believe, all his kisses include tongue.
-you go in for a kiss, that’s you asking for a makeout session, and if he’s feeling mischievous, he’ll tear away and walk away leaving you a breathless and yearning and hot and bothered mess.
-”So desperate for me and all I did was kiss you.”
-BULL. That’s bull. He knew what he was doing.
-there are moments where he’ll be gentle with you though. Usually when he feels vulnerable.
-others, they’re rough yanks to him. Hand on the back of your neck and slamming his lips on yours.
-tongue swiping over your bottom lip before pulling it between his teeth, soothing it with his tongue again before licking into your mouth and sucking on your tongue once or twice.
-messy and they lead to a messy bed afterwards too.
-most definitely a lil freaky
-and guess what? Despite having one of the thinnest lips, they’re baby smooth.
-wanna know why? Skincare.
-he’s obsessed with it. What a princess.
-yet he still looks sixty.
-not down below.
-definitely doesn’t feel like one.
-anywho, that’s not the topic, so he has really soft lips and knows how to use them
-WILL smirk into the kiss
-cocky bastard
-100% recommend if you wanna get laid.
-”Careful what you’re asking for, doll.”

Tumblr media
Echo:
-my sweet baby
-i love him sm
-he’s shy in the beginning, but so gentlemanly
-his kisses really express his love for you. Every emotion, every feeling is poured out into that kiss.
-whether it be I love you, I missed you, I’ll be back, be safe, don’t be back too late,
-yeah.
-they’re deep and firm and gentle, but not timid
-he is NOT shy of his love for you
-one arm around your waist, his bionic hand cradling the back of your head, it’s so sweet
-he loves cupping your face with his flesh hand while kissing you
-he just loves the contact
-kisses are frequent, but not too
-he loves dancing with you and dipping you into a kiss.
-cliche, but Echo is an old-school romantic, believe it or not
-swaying around you, spinning you with a warm smile on his face, pale brown orbs glowing gold as he looked at you,
-”you’re beautiful,”

Riptide
Summary: The mysterious newcomer, Crosshair seems to only warm up to you. Pairing: S3!Crosshair x Pabu Baker!Reader Warnings: ALL of my work is 18+ MINORS DNI; Light angst, flirting, Crosshair being grumpy? Omega being nosy lol. Also, Tech is alive. WC: 1.6k A/N: It's been SOOOO long since I've written for Crosshair so I'm sorry if this is OOC. Also, I've had this started since the moment he stepped foot on Pabu lmao. Finally finished it!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Could I get one of those for my brother?” Omega leans against the counter, a wide warm smile plastered on her face as always since she’s been back, pointing at the berry filled pastry.
“For Hunter, Echo, Tech, or Wrecker?” You ask her with a grin.
“Neither.” She replies. “My brother, Crosshair.”
“You have another brother?” You ask, pleasantly surprised.
“Mmhm.” She nods.
“Well
tell him I said ‘welcome’.” You grin, handing her a few more of the pastries.
“Thanks, I will!” She waves as she heads out. “Bye!”
After the tsunami wiped out most of Pabu, Omega’s brothers Hunter, Tech, and Wrecker helped rebuild your bakery almost in no time. So you kindly repay them with pastries and bread, which you don’t mind.
As the days go by, you hear more people talking about the newcomer.
He’s tall.
He’s mysterious.
He looks like he hates everything.
You hear all sorts of things from others. But it doesn’t deter you from wanting to properly welcome him to Pabu. He deserves a fresh start, just as everyone here does.
Walking down the beach is when you see him for the first time. The newcomer. Crosshair. He’s sitting cross-legged in the sand and he looks like he’s got his eyes closed. In fact, he looks like he might be meditating. Perhaps you’ll talk to him another time-
“I can feel you watching me.” He calls over to you.
His smoky voice takes you by surprise and your lips part, unsure of what to say now. He opens his eyes and looks over at you. His expression isn’t warm but it’s not completely unwelcoming, so you approach him cautiously.
“Hi, sorry! You must be Crosshair.” You introduce yourself. “I just
 I wanted to say welcome.”
You weren’t expecting him to be so good looking. Sure, Omega’s other brothers were handsome but Crosshair
he’s beautiful. You almost can’t look away from him. His gray curls are in a slight mohawk with the sides shaved, you notice. His brown eyes are almost exactly like his brothers’, but somehow seem slightly more amber.
“Are you part of some welcoming committee?” He quirks an eyebrow up.
Taking note of the way that the setting sun is casting a glow over his face, he truly looks like he belongs here.
You chuckle nervously. “No. Nope
 Uh
 just a baker.”
“You made those pastries the other day.” He uncrosses his legs and stands up.
You nod. “I hope you liked them. If not
 I could
I could make you something else.”
He looks around and up toward the ridges of rocks as if looking for someone, then back at you, his eyes narrowed. It makes you slightly nervous.
“Did Omega put you up to this?” He asks, crossing his arms.
You shake your head, confused. “Huh? No?”
Crosshair looks you up and down and then finally nods, accepting your answer. “The pastries were
 good.”
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding and smile kindly at the man. “Good. Good. I’m glad.”
“...Thanks.” He nods.
The sound of his voice is soothing and you realize you’d really like to hear him talk more, but you would never want to pressure him in any way, so you just nod back.
“Yeah, of course.” It’s quiet for a moment before you start to back away. “Well
If you ever need a tour guide or anything
you can find me in my shop most days, third level on the island.”
He gives another slight nod and you walk away back up to the shop, a new pitter patter in your chest.
A couple weeks go by and you continue to find Crosshair meditating down by the beach, so around day four, you start to bring him more pastries. He always accepts them with a nod and a soft “thank you” and you find that he really is tall and mysterious.
You don’t pressure him for information. You don’t really ask him questions. No matter how badly you want to.
Today, you’ve made him sandwiches along with the pastries. As you sit the little bag of food down, giving him a soft smile even though he’s got his eyes closed, you think he can maybe sense your smile. At least you hope.
“Do you
want to sit?” He asks, softly.
Your eyebrows go up and you find him looking at you.
“Really?”
“Unless you have something else to do.” He glances down at the spot beside him.
“Not really.” You sit down beside him, smiling.
“Do you always smile that much?” He watches your lips for a moment and warmth spreads throughout your face.
You shrug. “I guess so.”
“Why?”
“Why not?”
He smirks slightly, clearly amused. It makes your chest tighten and you can’t seem to look away.
“Everyone seems to be afraid of me
” He says, looking you in the eyes.
Your heart breaks for Crosshair. It’s not that they’re afraid of him, he’s just a little unapproachable. A little unwelcoming. But that’s nothing you can’t help him with.
“They’re not afraid per se
 Just
intimidated.” You shrug, taking a bite of one of the pastries. “You should let me introduce you to some of my friends.”
He lets out a noncommittal grunt and you can’t help but laugh. “Do you have friends?”
He scowls. “Yes, I have friends.”
“Your brothers don’t count.” You smirk.
He rolls his eyes, looking out at the ocean.
“My neighbor, Henko
He used to be like you when he first got here
but now he’s one of the most beloved people here. You should let me-” “No thanks.” He cuts you off and you start to realize you may have overstepped.
“Right. Sorry.” You nod and then start to feel embarrassed. “Um
I gotta run some stuff to the school that I forgot about.”
It’s technically a lie. You don’t have to do that til tomorrow but Crosshair doesn’t know that. Probably.
“I’ll see you later, Crosshair.” You give him a weak smile. “Sorry again.”
He looks like he’s going to say something but you’re still too embarrassed, so you book it up the rocks, back to the safety of your home.
A few days go by and you don’t really bother Crosshair too much, feeling like it may be best to give him his space.
You hear soft footsteps come into the shop and you look up to find Omega giving you a warm smile with Shep’s daughter, Lyana. Typically where one girl was, the other was sure to follow. It was nice to see.
“Hey girls. What can I get you?” You ask, ready to grab them whatever they want.
“My brother said something to upset you, didn’t he?” Omega asks, softly, leaning against the counter, folding her hands together.
“What?” You ask with furrowed brows, suddenly feeling embarrassed all over again.
Did Crosshair say something to her? Did he tell her what an idiot you were?
Oh Maker

“No, no-” You start.
“Crosshair is rough around the edges, but he likes you.” She tells you, clearly very confident.
Did she say he likes you? How could she know that?
“I think he’s a great guy
but I think I pushed him too much-” You try to start again.
“He needs to be pushed. He’s very stubborn.” Omega assures you. “That's one reason he likes you.”
“I don’t think he likes me.” “He does.” Omega and Lyana both chime in and you go warm in the face.
You rub your hand down your face. “Okay well, thank you
 But I should
 work.”
Omega smirks. “Give him another chance. Okay?”
You let out a soft sigh. “I’ll do my best.”
You hand her and Lyana a couple of chocoberry pastries and send them on their way before starting to clean up for the night with your mind on a certain smokey voice and amber eyes.
When you leave the shop to walk next door to your house, you run smack dab into a firm warm chest.
“I’m so sor-” You start to apologize but it dies in your throat when you see exactly who you ran into.
“My fault.” He murmurs, softly, his hands still on your arms as if he was steadying you.
You’re pretty sure you need it just from how intoxicating his smell is. Like mint and aftershave.
When you look up at him, the reminder of you embarrassing yourself the other day physically starts to pain you, so you step away.
“Excuse me.” You know you’re flustered. He knows you’re flustered.
You start to walk toward your little house next door.
“I like you.” He rushes out, his smokey voice stopping you dead in your tracks.
“What?” You ask, turning to face him, looking up at him.
Crosshair lets out a soft sigh. “I like you
 I don’t like people
but I like you. It’s the best I can
 do. For now.”
He says it like he needs you to understand that he’s trying. So you nod, getting it.
Omega was right. Crosshair likes you. “I’m sorry
about the other day.” He offers, stepping closer, looking down at you. “I was
 a jerk.”
“No, no
” You shake your head. “I was being too pushy.”
He chuckles softly, smiling ever so slightly. “I don’t think you could be pushy if you tried.”
“What if I did? Try to be pushy, I mean?” You grin.
He glances down at your lips and then murmurs your name. “I think I’d let you do anything you wanted.”
You go absolutely hot in the face at his suggestive words and he absolutely takes notice because he smirks.
“Don’t get shy on me now
” He whispers.
You open your lips to say something but the words seem to die again.
“Maybe we can work on it?” He nods toward your house and it occurs to you that he’s into you like you’re into him and perhaps for now, that can just be enough.
You nod, taking his hand and leading him inside with as much of a confident smile that you can muster. “As long as you can keep up.”
“Atta girl.” He murmurs, eagerly following you into your house.

Tumblr media
Crosshair didn’t like crowds. He gritted his teeth as he walked alone through the market on Sorgan, sidestepping people as they entered his path. It was noisy, but that didn’t bother him so much. Vendors called out to passersby, promoting their various goods for purchase with enthusiasm. Voices chattered and laughed. The smell of food wafted through Crosshair’s nose and his stomach tightened with hunger. Rations were poor choices compared to the sizzling of flavourful meat on grills, but he didn’t have enough credits to buy himself something to eat.
He only had enough to buy something for you.
He had been helping Tech with cataloguing files when he saw one on their nat-born medic. You had joined Clone Force 99 just over half a standard cycle ago with your plucky yet kind attitude, falling into the group dynamic easier than Crosshair had thought. Sure, it had taken some adjustment for him and his brothers to become used to another presence they had not grown up with, but it was inevitable you would eventually find your place in the team. You were hardworking, strong and compassionate. You paid attention to each of his brothers, giving them your undivided focus during conversation and indulging them in questions about what they were doing or their chosen skill. He had watched you talk with Tech about data decryption, Wrecker about proton-based explosives, Hunter about tracking strategies, Echo about ARC trooper training, and of course, him about sharpshooting.
He recalled the way you sat next to him for the first time on his bunk during their time in Hyperspace. He had disassembled part of his Firepuncher rifle, readjusting the scope and the barrel after it had unexpectedly jammed on their previous mission. He’d been annoyed – his prized weapon never faltered, and he was trying to figure out why it had failed on him when the thin mattress dipped next to him, and you asked what he was doing. When he’d given a particularly surly response, you nodded and then just continued to watch him. His eyes had slid to you.
“Can I help you with anything else?” He hadn’t meant it to sound so icy, but he had been frustrated with this rifle, with himself.
“Can you
explain what you’re doing?” you had asked hopefully.
He had looked at you sceptically. “Why?”
You just shrugged. “It looks interesting.”
He had studied your expression, trying to discern if you were being genuine. But you were. You always were with things like this.
So, he explained what he was doing, answered your questions and by the time his weapon was fixed, he didn’t even really remember his initial annoyance. You had smiled at him, your mouth stretching in a way that made your eyes light up. He felt a little flicker of something in his stomach before it was promptly extinguished.
Since then, you have spent time with him like that more often. Not just when he was cleaning his rifle, but other things. Like throwing Lula back and forth across the bunks as you both talked, joking about things that happened on missions. Sharing looks over briefings. Stealing Wrecker’s snacks.
But his favourite time with you was drawing on your datapad and trying to guess what the other was drawing. He had learnt you liked to draw and enjoyed drawing out something other than a medical diagram. He felt a sense of pride in making you laugh so hard you cried with his silly caricatures during long hyperspace trips. Exaggerated doodles of his brothers, tookas and the like, a portrait of you with a funny expression. You liked to draw him with a smile too big for his face, chuckling as you drew and then collapsing into laughter when you showed him. It always made the thing in his stomach flicker.
He really liked having you around.
So, when he came across your file when helping Tech, he couldn’t help but open it. You had told them all any information they had asked for, and information they had not. There wasn’t really anything you kept secret. But when he saw your ID holo looking particularly embarrassing: with wide eyes and a half-formed expression – like you were taken off guard by the photo, the corner of his mouth twisted up in an impish smirk.
He had intended to tease you about it; set the holo to the show on every Marauder screen so it was everywhere.
He opened the file to take a copy of the holo when he spotted details about your age and date of birth.
He frowned at the date. “Tech, what is today’s galactic date?”
Tech looked up from his datapad, adjusting his goggles before rattling off the date. “Why?”
He said your name before telling him, “It’s their birthday tomorrow.”
“Oh.” Tech blinked.
Age and birthdays were almost foreign concepts to clones. With accelerated aging and growing in a capsule, they didn’t really matter to them. Awkward to calculate, they weren’t celebrated. Crosshair had no idea when he had been ‘birthed’ or decanted, and if the Kaminoans documented such dates, then it was classified information. He knew his chronological age, but his biological age was a little murky. He knew he was a “mature clone”, however with the accelerated aging, he didn’t know where exactly he stood. None of their brothers knew any of these details. It was normal for them.
He read the date and your age. What would it be like to be so sure of something like that? To be sure of the parts that made up who you were?
Crosshair cleared his throat and closed the file without even copying the ID holo. He frowned to himself. Maybe he should’ve asked you about it before, but birthdays weren’t a part of his world, so he hadn’t thought to. But they were important to nat-borns, weren’t they? At least that’s what they’d all been told during their training modules.
When he lay in his bunk that night, he circled his mind for all he knew about birthday traditions. Gatherings. Food. Gifts. Would you like all that? Did you like all that? You seemed like you would. He didn’t know if it was something he would enjoy if he had a birthday
it didn’t really seem like his thing, but maybe he would. He would never know. He thought that Wrecker might be the only one who would enjoy a birthday. Maybe Echo too if you did it right. Same with Hunter.
But you hadn’t said anything about your birthday.
He had tossed and turned. You were part of their squad. You cared. Listened. Laughed. Did you not feel you could share the date with them? He didn’t know, and a part of him felt a little hurt that you might not feel you could. Were you not friends? Crosshair didn’t have many friends, but he knew they were supposed to tell each other things.
He turned again, crossing his arms against his chest as he faced the wall. Why did he even care? If you didn’t want to tell him it was your birthday, fine. He wouldn’t mention it.
He squeezed his eyes shut before sitting up on his elbows and craned his head to see you sleeping in your bunk. Through the darkness, his enhanced eyes saw you curled in yourself, and your nose twitched as you breathed deep and evenly. Something in his chest pinched. He sighed before laying back down and pulling the thin blanket over his head.
Now, as he found himself in this market the next day, he wondered what he was even doing here.
Once they had landed on Sorgan, they completed their mission easily with no complications. But Crosshair was still distracted by your birthday. You hadn’t even said anything when everyone woke up this morning. Just acted like it was any other day. You had just smiled at him as you tucked into a ration bar, saying good morning before throwing one to him to eat.
It puzzled him.
When you all started walking back to the Marauder after the mission, Hunter could tell something was up with him, nudging his shoulder.
“You alright?”
Crosshair had scowled at his brother. “
Yes.”
“You look deep in thought,” Hunter pointed out, falling into step with him.
Crosshair broke his gaze and looked away, back towards where they came, to the village they had just liberated. The thought had barely formed before he said, “Do we have time before the next mission?”
Hunter’s surprise showed in his voice. “We have a couple of hours, why?”
“I’ll be back later,” Crosshair walked off in the direction of the village before Hunter could say anything. His long legs carried him to the marketplace, where he stood now amongst the bustling bodies.
He just couldn’t get your birthday out of his stupid head; that you hadn’t said anything because clones didn’t celebrate birthdays. Just because he didn’t understand them, doesn’t mean he couldn’t try
for you.
He started combing through the vendors, most of which were finishing up resetting their stands after they fled suddenly several days prior. He moved from stall to stall, gazing at the different items over people's heads. Kriff, what were you even supposed to buy people for birthdays? Something they needed? Something they wanted? It was all a little overwhelming. And Crosshair didn’t get overwhelmed.
“Looking for something in particular, my friend?”
Crosshair startled and looked up to see the vendor, a greying man with a wrinkled face, horns protruding from his forehead and curled up in an elegant spiral shape.
Crosshair frowned, clearing his throat. “It’s
my friend's birthday today.”
The man’s face lit up. “Wonderful! Birthdays are special.”
Crosshair’s mouth tightened as the man continued to speak. “What were you thinking of gifting them?”
The hairs on Crosshair’s neck stood up with nerves. “I
I don’t know.”
The man’s face lit up. “Perhaps I can help.”
The man then went through the different items at his stand. He held up scarves, strings of beads, and handmade pottery. Crosshair thought they were all nice enough, but he wasn’t swimming in credits. And none of the items really felt like you. The vendor was patient, more patient than he should’ve been. Either he really wanted to help or was desperate for a sale in a competitive marketplace.
After many minutes and many items, Crosshair felt himself gradually stiffening, becoming more and more on edge and uncomfortable. He felt so out of his depth. He was always so sure of everything, and trying to do this thing he had no experience in, made him more vulnerable than he had in a long time. It was not a feeling he felt comfortable with. Never had been.
And as much as he liked you, maybe this was all a stupid idea. You hadn’t mentioned your birthday for a reason. He shouldn’t bring it up. If he did, he’d have to explain how he found out
and he didn’t want to go through that awkwardness. He was about to open his mouth and tell the over-enthusiastic vendor: thank you, but he wouldn’t bother with a gift, when the vendor clapped his hands loudly, making Crosshair jump.
“I may have something back here, hold on,” he said as he turned away to rifle noisily through a crate behind him.
Crosshair felt his fist curl at his sides, and this should’ve been his opening to slide away unnoticed until he looked down and saw a brown leather book. Crosshair halted and lifted a gloved hand to the soft worn cover, running his fingers over the engravings in the bound leather. He opened the cover, seeing it was a blank notebook, and it had a writing implement tucked into the spine. Not many people recorded things the traditional way anymore; datapads were much more efficient and stored more information than the pages of a notebook. He flicked through the pages, fanning them with his thumb. The dust drifted up and it was a smell he didn’t recognise, but he supposed it was the smell of paper.
“That’s a good choice.”
Crosshair retracted his hand as if he was a cadet being scolded, and looked up at the vendor, who held an oversized pot that would break the second it came aboard the Marauder.
“That would be a perfect gift,” the vendor continued, nodding at the notebook.
Crosshair looked at him before picking up the notebook – more surely this time, and turned it over in his hands. He imagined you in your bunk, scribbling in it at night with a torch in one hand. He imagined you keeping it under your pillow for safekeeping. He imagined you doodling in it, showing him your drawings with that smile on your face. He imagined drawing in it with you. The corner of his mouth twitched upward.
“How much?” Crosshair asked.
“It’s yours.”
Crosshair’s head snapped towards the vendor. “What?”
The vendor waved him away. “Take it.”
Crosshair blinked, confused. “
I have to pay you.”
“No, you don’t. I’ve been trying to sell that for years. You’d be doing me a favour.”
Crosshair furrowed his brow. “
Isn’t the customer supposed to be right?”
The vendor barked out a laugh. “Not this time, my friend.”
Crosshair dug into his pocket anyway and pulled out half the credits. “For your patience
at least.”
The vendor chuckled and took them. “Thank you. I hope your friend likes it.”
Crosshair didn’t respond as the man turned away, placing the pot down before calling out to other marketgoers, trying to entice them.
Crosshair walked back through the market, the notebook feeling heavy in his hand. Leaving the village, he made his way back to the Marauder, thoughts swimming in his head.
Kriff, what if you hated it? Or thought it was stupid? What if all his knowledge on birthdays was completely inaccurate and you would think him strange for giving you something? Or what if you just thought he was weird for getting you something at all?
Crosshair’s grip on the notebook tightened. He just wanted to do something nice. Like you always did for them. But this is why he avoided it. It was so vulnerable being nice. Being nice left you open for hurt, open for aching. It was much easier to keep it at bay, to restrict it. To hide it behind actions inconspicuously where it wasn’t out in the open. Being so open with it for you
he wouldn’t admit it out loud, but it scared him. The doubt crept in. Crosshair had conviction and confidence, and he wasn’t used to it wavering like this.
He was just about ready to throw the notebook into a bush and never speak of it again when he heard your voice ring out from the steps of the Marauder.
“Crosshair!”
You placed your datapad down and ran over to him. He hid the notebook behind his back with both hands, gripping it so hard he knew his knuckles would be white as you approached him with a smile.
“Hey,” he said, hoping he sounded normal.
“Where’d you go? You disappeared after the mission.”
“I was just
looking for something,” he said carefully. Dank farrik, how was he supposed to do this? He thought he might just leave it on your bunk when you were distracted with a little note written inside the cover saying, ‘Happy Birthday’. That way he could avoid your reaction when you saw it. He didn’t even know how to get into the Marauder with it now that you were here in front of him.
You tilted your head with a quizzical smile. “Looking for something?”
Crosshair nodded. “I couldn’t find it,” he lied.
“Oh
okay,” you looked at him weirdly. Would you look at him like that when you saw his gift?
Crosshair nodded to the Marauder, desperate to get on board and stow the notebook away until he could leave it on your bunk. “Should we go inside?”
You looked at him, narrowing your eyes. “What are you hiding?”
“I’m not hiding anything, meshurok,” he lied, his grip tightening again.
“Yes, you are,” you sidestepped him to look behind him and he leapt out of the way. You grinned. “You are! What are you hiding, Cross? Why can’t I see?” you tried to chase him around, but Crosshair kept angling himself away. Kriff, he had never felt so stupid in his whole life.
“It’s nothing. Get your meddling hands away from me, you di’kut,” he walked backwards in a circle, his face and neck hot.
“Crosshair,” you chided, smiling at him. “Come on, is it really that bad?”
“Go away,” he grumbled, hands aching from holding the damned notebook so tight.
“Crosshair,” you said his name again, and your face was stretched in that playful grin that he’d unwillingly memorised. That thing in his stomach flickered again.
Then he remembered how you didn’t tell him about your birthday. And how you were friends, but you didn’t say anything about it. And how he had this unexplainable feeling he couldn’t name sitting in his stomach that compelled him to go to a village market and pick out a stupid gift for a birthday tradition he didn’t even understand just to do something nice for you the way you did for him and his brothers.
Crosshair’s expression flared and he shoved the notebook at your chest. You startled at your hand came up to grab it, sliding against his like a searing snake. He pulled his hand back and balled both at his sides as he gritted out, “Happy birthday.”
All he saw was your eyes were wide before he stalked off, almost stomping his way to the Marauder. His face burned, and embarrassment flooded his body. He felt so stupid, and he hated feeling stupid. He hated the feeling of being on the end of someone’s judgement. He hated knowing that he’d just been forced to make himself vulnerable. But mostly, he hated the feeling of you not trusting him with what was supposed to be the important parts of you.
“Crosshair!”
Your voice came from behind him, but he didn’t turn around. He was already planning different ways he could avoid you. He was going to lock himself in the ‘fresher until the next mission and make sure Hunter placed him on watch at opposite times to you. Whatever it took. His heart panged. You were one of the only people outside his brothers he liked. He would mourn the shared jokes and laughter, and time spent with you, knowing it couldn’t happen anymore.
“Crosshair, wait.”
He felt a hand on his arm pull him back. He swayed backwards, but he let you stop him. He avoided your gaze, scowl burning an outline in his brow as he stared off into the middle distance. Your hand stayed on his arm, and he felt it through the plastoid wrapped around his forearm, squeezing him there. It felt like part of him, and that made him feel both warm with content and spiked with anger simultaneously.
“Cross, please look at me,” your voice said quietly, and his heart squeezed. He slowly moved his gaze, looking down, then sliding his eyes to your bare hand on his arm before they lifted to your face. Your brows were slanted downwards, looking at him with such softness in your eyes he felt the flickering in his chest again.
“How did you
” your voice was soft and trailed off, notebook in your other hand.
“It doesn’t matter,” he dismissed with gritted words.
He felt your hand flex with your grip. “It does to me.”
He studied your face carefully before saying, “
I was helping Tech with cataloguing his files. I saw your birthday in yours.”
You continued looking at him with an indecipherable gaze and moved your hand slowly from his arm to his wrist, your bare fingertips brushing his gloves. You gently grazed his fingers as you let his hand drop softly. He watched you as you inspected the book, hands turning it over, fanning through the pages. He studied your expression, trying to discern what you thought, feeling anxiety grow in his stomach, his throat tightening. He felt something hot poke inside him as he watched your mouth turn up into a smile as you gazed at his gift.
“I’ve been so busy this year that I forgot about my birthday.”
Crosshair hoped he hid his surprise. You not telling him about your birthday
it was never about him. Of course, you had forgotten. The past six cycles had been a whirlwind for you trying to adjust to a soldier’s lifestyle, countless missions and trying to fit in with his brothers. His face burned again. He was a fool.
You looked up at him, a smirk itching the corners of your mouth. “Been too busy keeping you boys in line.”
Crosshair scoffed lightly, letting a puff of breath out of his nose. Your smile widened.
“This is a beautiful gift, Cross. Thank you for getting it for me,” you place your hand on his arm again, squeezing gently to show your appreciation He felt his heart lift and his cheeks redden, but this time, not in embarrassment.
He nodded at you. “I’m
glad you like it. I don’t have much experience with birthdays.”
Your smile touched the edges of your eyes. “That’s what makes it even more special.”
You reached up on your tip toes and wrapped your arms around his neck, embracing him. Crosshair stiffened in shock and surprise before he slowly wrapped his arms around your torso. His fingers grazed your sides, and there was something wildly comforting about holding you like this. He could feel the side of your face pressed into his neck, just below his ear, and your breath tickled the sliver of open skin not covered by his blacks. You were so warm. He felt you squeeze him gently and he didn’t stop himself from squeezing back.
You were his best friend, after all.
You pulled away, but not before you cupped his face and placed a kiss on his cheek. Crosshair flinched and his eyes widened as you lowered yourself back down on flat feet with one of the most joyful smiles he’d ever seen gracing your face. The action had surprised him more than anything else had.
“I’m going to show everyone what you got me,” you said before running off towards the Marauder.
“No, don’t, they’ll—” Crosshair started but you were already halfway up the gangplank. His brothers’ teasing was going to be ruthless.
He sighed, shaking his head before following you, that thing flickering in his chest. He didn’t understand it, but he didn’t try to extinguish it.

mando'a / meshurok = gemstone thank you for reading! i did find this one slightly challenging bc it's very much crosshair in his head and i tried to write him how i thought he would react to a situation like this, but if it's a little OOC, i apologise! but i think he would react like this if someone he cared about didn't tell him something important about them; someone who was his friend and who he liked very much. i think he'd be kinda mad and hurt but he cares too much to not do anything at all. i have more gen requests on the way, so stay tuned if you're interested! <3

(The Bad Batch) How He Is with His Newborn Baby
Hunter: He adores them and spends a lot of time holding them. Hunter is also really big on the whole skin-to-skin contact, so it becomes a common thing to see him walking around shirtless with the baby cradled snugly in one arm. He gets pretty good at performing tasks around the home with the baby. He's enraptured by the little one, but also very attentive to your needs. Hunter makes sure you take the time you need to eat, shower, and just have time to relax every now and then. Literally, any excuse to hold them some more, and he's giving it. He is good at rocking the baby in such a way that they fall asleep instantly in his arms.
Wrecker: The baby has him wrapped around their tiny finger already. He's already telling them how much he loves them and how proud he is. Wrecker also just spends time telling them all the fun things they're going to do together when they're old enough to walk, talk, etc. He is so unbelievably gentle and sweet with the little one in general, and also of course with you. He'll randomly stare at you and tell you how beautiful you are and what a good job you're doing.
Tech: This baby is not at the point where they can retain any information yet, but Tech spends plenty of time just talking to them. He talks about anything his mind can conjure up. The baby becomes so accustomed to the sound of his voice that it has quite the soothing effect. Additionally, Tech is very quick to pick up on the baby's cycle of needs. It gets to the point where they cry, and he can glance at his chrono and pinpoint exactly what they need according to the little schedule he's created. He also regularly checks the baby's weight, vitals, to make sure they're in good health. From time to time he voices yet again how fascinating the miracle of birth is and how proud he is of you, also checking your health.
Echo: Spends the first few weeks only holding the baby when sitting down. He can't get over how fragile they are, and he just sits there and stares at them as long as he can in amazement and adoration before they wake up from their nap or fuss about something they need. When the baby bursts into a fit of wails, he goes into a bit of a panic mode worrying about what's wrong. Eventually, he gets more comfortable and gets used to the idea that the baby is just communicating a need. It doesn't take long for him to become a professional dad. He gets pretty organized with the diaper bag and supplies so that he can just pull out whatever the baby needs at the drop of a hat.
Crosshair: He spends a good while just quietly holding the baby in his arms and watching them. Internally, he thinks they're absolutely precious and realizes he loves them so much. He already knew he'd love them, but he didn't realize it would feel like this. The baby is heart-wrenchingly cute, and he'd do anything to protect them. You come to find that he becomes more vocal, telling the baby in a sort of Crosshair-style sarcasm that they need to get their act together every time he has to handle a diaper change, feeding, etc. He's up with you at any hour day or night to help with the baby without a complaint, and regularly makes sure you're taking care of yourself also.

Chapter Summary: Saving an ARC Trooper
AO3
Tumblr media
Just assigned to your new squad, you already feared you were in over your head.
It started with the sergeant shooting a cable onto one of the local flying reptiles to chase after Master Skywalker, who had managed to be captured by one of the things. It continued with the squad disobeying your orders to stay while you went down into the village to assist Skywalker, and it ended up with Crosshair getting punched in the face by Captain Rex, followed by Wrecker strangling the captain in midair.
The mission was a disaster, and it seemed the only one who could remain on target was the captain. You were, admittedly, a little distracted trying to simultaneously keep your squad alive while having your orders obeyed, which was as likely as herding rancors.
Tech, somehow, was the most well-behaved since landing, but he’d already filled his allotted stress quota with his unusual navigation through the bile-colored clouds to land on Skako Minor, your stomach left far behind in the ionosphere.
Getting your squad to cooperate with the “reg,” as they so impolitely called the captain, was a losing battle, and you didn’t know how you made it to the Techno Union headquarters without being spotted by the enemy. Then again, the stealth portion of the mission was lost the moment the elevator opened, and the aerial battle droids waited to ambush.
As much as their unorthodox methods and irreverent behavior vexed you, if there was one thing your men took very seriously, it was fighting. They didn’t need any input from you or Master Skywalker to clear the enemies in their path, but Purkoll was full of security droids, and after losing the transmission signal, you decided to split up.
Strangely enough, most of the men followed you, including Captain Rex. Crosshair, however, didn’t, choosing to follow Skywalker instead, and it hadn’t slipped by you that the sniper had attached himself to your fellow Jedi during the mission. You didn’t understand it. Crosshair rebuffed every olive branch you extended, and he’d actually let Skywalker handle his rifle. He never let you touch the beloved Firepuncher.
Not that you were jealous. Obviously.
The others opened each door that they passed, but you were searching for something else. The live transmission might have stopped, and until it returned, Tech wouldn’t be able to lock in its location, but you had another channel you could use to locate the missing clone.
ARC Trooper CT-1409, also known as “Echo.” It was a longshot that the ARC trooper was even alive, but you had faith in the captain, even if your squad didn’t. You wondered, and not for the first time, if the Council had made a mistake allowing you to be their commander. You certainly hadn’t expected them to grant your transfer request, nor could you fully explain why you submitted it to begin with.
Crosshair had pointed out multiple times they didn’t need a Jedi, which you translated into we don’t need you, and you wondered if this mission would prove that fact once and for all.
You stopped in the middle of the curved hallway and closed your eyes. You breathed slow, deep, and pushed away your doubts and fears about your new assignment. This wasn’t about you. This was about rescuing a prisoner of war. This was about letting go of your emotions and choosing someone else’s needs above your own.
It was faint, a thin thread buried in the cacophony of life and energy around you, but it was there, calling out to you.
You followed it, your eyes still closed, not needing to see to follow the thread. You heard the blaster shots, felt them streak past you as they buried themselves in the chassis of the aerial battle droids that appeared. You also heard Hunter yelling at you to take cover, and Captain Rex’s panicked question when you didn’t listen.
Your uncertainty was gone, lifting from your mind and leaving you light and unburdened. You knew they would protect you, and it gave you the time you needed to find the ARC Trooper.
“Here,” you said, finally opening your eyes. You stood in front of a depressed entrance to a set of double doors sealed tight. Tech immediately hooked his datapad up to the lock, not questioning how you knew or if you were sure. He simply followed through.
“Great,” the sergeant growled, sounding more harried than you’d ever heard before. “Now will you please take cover.”
Your only answer was to ignite your lightsaber at the sound of the next platoon of battle droids rounding the corner, and a slow smile split your face. You shouldn’t enjoy this as much as you did, but
well. It was difficult to ignore millions of years of primal instinct, even if your people were more artists and scientists now than they were apex predators.
“Guess not,” Hunter sighed, and took up his position beside you. Wrecker and Captain Rex did the same, protecting Tech as he worked. And when the droids opened fire, you didn’t let one blaster bolt past, creating a shield from which your men could return fire without risk of harm.
And for once, you didn’t feel out-of-sync, instead working together as smoothly as if you’d done this a thousand times.
As soon as the last droid fell, the communication portal above the lock focused onto a particularly unpleasant face.
“Greetings, Jedi.”
“Wat Tambor,” you answered calmly, extinguishing your lightsaber and turning toward the portal.
“Your kind are usually hard to predict, but I find that not to be your case. Your captain’s algorithm predicted nearly every move you made to infiltrate Purkoll.”
“There is no algorithm,” Captain Rex growled next to you. “We know you’re holding a prisoner of war here.”
“Prisoner?” The Techno Union leader laughed, mocking. “I don’t know what you mean, Captain.”
“I am leaving here with my friend.”
The captain edged closer, pointing an accusatory finger at Wat Tambor, and you placed a hand on his pauldron. Immediately, he tempered some of his anger, but his fear still shone bright.
“Your friend is dead. His mind is ours.”
Captain Rex’s fear spiked again, wild and sharp, afraid he was too late. You wanted to comfort him, assure him you sensed his friend was very much alive, but instead addressed the enemy.
“You underestimate your prisoner. And us.” You leaned in closer and added, “It’s a mistake you won’t get to make twice.”
The communication portal exploded as your lightsaber punctured the screen, destroying it in a shower of sparks.
You extinguished your blade and turned to the others, surprised to find them all staring. Even Tech had paused in his hacking to blink up at you from his kneeling position.
“What?”
Hunter and Wrecker exchanged a glance that seemed to communicate something even from under their helmets, but Captain Rex sighed, and you gave his pauldron a squeeze he couldn’t feel before you let go.
“Sorry. I shouldn’t have let him get to me.”
“We will find your friend, Captain.”
You didn’t know how you could explain it to him, the certainty ringing in your bones that this Echo would be saved. But then Hunter’s head tilted up and back toward the hallway, and he yelled, “Incoming!”
The next wave of aerial droids never seemed to end, though it was made easier when Master Skywalker and Crosshair appeared, taking out the tail end of the platoon.
“More are coming,” Hunter warned, and from the distant sound of metallic footfalls, he was right.
“Got it!” Tech called out as the first set of double doors opened.
“I hope you find what you’re looking for, Captain,” Hunter said to him, and Captain Rex returned a nod before running toward the doors.
You followed after him and then hesitated, turning back to Skywalker.
“Go,” he said, already anticipating your question with a curled half-smile. “We’ve got this. I’ll take care of your men.”
Something rattled in your chest, close to a purr, but thankfully too quiet to be heard. They were your men, and for the first time, you felt it.
“I’ll hold you to that, Master Skywalker,” you called back as you followed after Tech and Captain Rex. The doors slid shut behind you just as the ones in front of you opened. The captain entered with his pistol drawn, but you didn’t sense any danger from the room. Not the kind of danger that required a blaster or lightsaber, anyway.
There was only one object that drew your attention, and you stood before it, your head tilted back as you appraised it. It was like a stone sarcophagus set into the wall, a circular window showing the frosted nature of the interior.
And within it, you sensed the end of the thread, faint and struggling to hold on.
“Tech, open it,” you said, and Tech was already at the console, a complicated half-circle of controls and circuits you couldn’t begin to understand. But he did, and a moment later, air hissed from the hinges and the chamber cracked open like a beetle splitting its shell to unfurl the wings beneath.
Pale skin coated in frost, the ARC trooper slumped forward, only held aloft by the wires and cables attached to the augmented implants along the back of his head and spine. His eyes were open, but he didn’t see you, or the captain, or Tech. The Separatists were embedded deep in his mind, pulling from it that which he would never give willingly.
Captain Rex was up on the console and pulling him down before you could push through your shock, but you helped him guide Echo’s limp body down the rest of the way, disconnecting some of the tubes in order to set him on the ground.
“Tech,” the captain said, his words urgent but determined. “We gotta get him out of here. Figure out how to unplug him from
 from this mess.”
You both leaned him against the console as gently as you could, but Echo’s prosthetic legs were too long, built too differently from what they should be. Captain Rex lifted off his helmet to get a better look at his brother, and some of the emotion broke through as he whispered, “What have they done to you?”
Echo seemed to hear him, but his tone was confused, fearful, his eyes distant and unfocused.
“We-we have to get to the shuttle to escape the Citadel.”
“He’s trapped in a loop,” you said. His skin was so cold it almost burned under your fingers, and he struggled within your grasp.
“Can you get him out of it?” Captain Rex’s words grew frantic the more agitated the ARC trooper became.
Echo struggled harder, fighting against an enemy only he could see as he panted, “No! I’ll go first. No, no, Fives, don’t—"
“General.”
“I-I don’t know.” He was so fragile, so pale, the contrast between your skin and his extreme, the breakability of it under your sharp nails alarming. “I might hurt him.”
“Please,” the captain practically begged, “please, try.”
His aching expression hurt your heart, but it was the pain and torment that rippled from Echo’s mind that finally convinced you. Meeting Tech’s eye, you said, “When I give the word, disconnect him.”
“I am ready.”
He nodded to you, firm and without doubt. You gave him a faint smile of thanks and then turned your attention back to Echo. Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you reached out and placed the tips of your fingers on either side of his head.
The force of his fear was nearly enough to choke you. Echo’s last memories were saturated in panic, and the gripping terror that he wouldn’t be able to save his brother.
There was nothing you could do for Fives, but at least you could do this for the last remaining member of the Domino Squad.
You took it all, every grain of torment and every drop of suffering. You were the conduit from which his terror was drained, and even though it threatened to infect your mind and poison your blood, you released it all into the Force, until all that was left was quiet. Peace. Serenity.
“Now, Tech.”
Your own words were far away, but you knew he would hear you. The disconnection was so smooth and unnoticed that it didn’t cause so much as a ripple through the tranquility that spanned across your connection.
And then you sensed something you’d never felt before when touching the mind of another: a desperate, overwhelming need to not be alone. It was almost as suffocating as the fear, but when you touched Echo’s mind again, he immediately calmed.
Curious, you did it again, and relief flooded through his mind so strongly you felt an echo of it vibrate across the Force. You’d never felt like this before, the sensation of being needed. Wanted. He didn’t even know you, and yet, you sensed his eagerness to connect, and his reluctance to eventually part.
I’m here, you sent the reassurance across the bond so naturally you didn’t think twice. I won’t leave you. Now or ever.
It was, perhaps, not the appropriate thing to say, and a promise you likely couldn’t keep, but it felt so right.
The ARC trooper’s anxieties eased, and then he was
warm. There was no other way to describe it. Even though his body was still far too cold, he shone as bright as a star.
You gently pulled back, and this time he didn’t desperately grasp for you again. He was ready to emerge from this space deep in his mind and rejoin his brothers.
It was your own reluctance that made it difficult to let go, but eventually, you did.
When you opened your eyes, Echo was already in an embrace with Rex, the captain squeezing him and his eyes glassy from the tears that threatened to fall. You watched the two of them, not wanting to interrupt the reunion. You also realized you still held onto the ARC trooper’s arm, and you released him.
As soon as you did, Echo’s attention swung to you, curious and alert. And somehow through the shivering cold and the lingering pain you sensed thudding in his skull, he managed a smile. It completely transformed his face from pale and gaunt to something warm and charming.
“Hi,” he said. “You seem familiar. Have we met?”
You wondered if he didn’t remember the connection you’d just formed, but then you saw the sparkle in his eye. Despite his voice being coarse from months without use, there was something teasing about it.
“Not officially.”
“That’s right, you were the other Jedi on Kamino. Nice to officially meet you.”
He tried to extend his hand to you but immediately stopped when he saw he no longer had one. He pulled back the scomp arm, his face falling for a split second before he rallied and extended his other hand.
“Thanks for the rescue,” he added casually, as if in afterthought. Even after everything he’d endured, Echo still had his humor.
But there remained something deep in his eyes, a shadow formed by the shape of his hellish imprisonment. It would take time for that haunted look to fade, but you wondered, and you hoped, that you would be there to see it.
You returned his smile, and you took his hand.

Hello!! I had an idea for a 501st x force sensitive reader (maybe a bad batch cameo pls?), where she can see force ghosts of passed clones and she wants to try and find a good way of telling Rex and the others boys that their brothers are ok and happy. Maybe she gets headaches because ghost fives is talking her ear off while she’s trying to listen to the briefing.
Hope you had a good weekend!! Love your work!xx

Be quiet
Be quiet
Be quiet!
Your head was pounding as you and your astromech R0-80 (or ROBO) were currently welding new paneling to a shuttle that is scheduled to leave in the morning. All around you whispers and cries that only you could hear were bouncing off your skull, giving you a wicked headache. Normally you could just ignore it and push through, you have your whole life but, on days like today when the talking is so loud you can’t think straight.
Please! I know you can hear me!
“Robo can you do the bottom of the shuttle while I weld the top?”
He chirps happily and rolls off under the ship to continue welding. Slowly and shakily, you climb up to the roof of the shuttle and start welding again.
I need to complete my mission!
Just ignore it. Just ignore it. Just ignore it.
You take a deep breath and continue your welds, slowly with slightly shaky hands but still straight. You finish your panel and move onto the next one, slowly crawling over to the next spot and it is only then that a voice yells out to you.
Please listen to me!
The shout makes you jump and lose your footing, and you go flailing backwards and fall off the top of the ship hitting the hangar floor with a hard thud! You lie there for a moment stunned, the voices quieter than normal, your vision slightly dizzy, when you hear heavy footsteps approach you.
“You alright ma’am?”
A gloved hand waves in front of your eyes making you jump. You look up to a blonde head and the most beautiful pair of brown eyes you’ve ever seen. Once the dizziness settles for a moment you realize that Captain Rex is standing over you looking concerned. You can hear quiet chuckles in the distance whether those are from other soldiers or from the voices you're not sure.
Your cheeks go bright red as you slowly sit up instantly regretting it as your head pounds behind your eyes, “I’m ok- Ouch!”
“Don’t move I’ll call Kix to come look at ya.” he says already comming the medic before you can protest, “Kix, we need you in the hangar and bring your kit!”
You look down closing your eyes to ease the aching of your head and to ignore the gaze of the beautiful captain above you, “Really captain I’m alright. No need to waste resources...”
“There’s no such thing as wasted resources when someone's in need.” he says gently patting your shoulder with a small smile.
You’ve watched Captain Rex and his men of the 501 since your first day. Like all the soldiers they gave a strong presence wherever they go and even though they are a bit radical like their general and commander you always admired them. They are really sweet and goofy and have even come over to talk to you sometimes while you were working asking you random questions, you think it was pre mission jitters that made them come over to you because there really isn’t any other reason to come talk to you but you appreciate it nonetheless.
Looks like captain is flirting. Didn’t know he knew how.
“He’s not flirting shut up!” you hiss.
Rex looks down at you with red ears, “What was that?”
You look up at him your cheeks burning bright, “Umm nothing!”
Rapid footsteps approach the two of you and you both turn to see Kix, “I’m here captain! Where’s my patient?”
“Our mechanic here took a fall from the top of the shuttle. I think she hit her head pretty good.” he explains while Kix opens his med kit and grabs a scanner. You sigh as he goes over your whole body, feeling the embarrassment of lying on the hangar floor being checked for injuries while groups of soldiers walk by and stare as they get prepped to leave on their next mission.
Kix looks down at you with a smile, “Good news is there’s no concussion. Just a visible bump on the head for the time being. A bacta patch and you’ll be good to go.”
“Thank you. I appreciate your help.” you say gently with a smile.
Kix applies the patch to your head making you wince, “Just doing my job. Now you be more careful up there. Don't wanna bruise that pretty face of yours.”
And now Kix is flirting... I shouldn’t be surprised all the boys are fawning over you. You are beautiful. Maybe I should shoot my shot too eh cyare?
“Kriffin hell please stop talking!” you say exasperated only to realize you said that out loud and both clones look at you with sheepish, confused expressions. “I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean that I... wasn’t talking to you...”
Rex and Kix both look at you confused, “Who were you talking too?”
“U-Uh... myself.”
Kix grabs his scanner from his bag again with a concerned look, “I’m gonna scan you again just to be safe...”
What the three of you didn’t know is that Master Yoda had made an unexpected trip down from the temple to the hangar when he felt something odd in the force. He stood from a far watching you as various fallen clones try to get your attention. The only way they would be this persistent is if they knew you could hear them, or see them...
As Kix stands over you with the scanner and Rex beside him you hear a faint tapping sound getting closer and the three of you turn to see Master Yoda coming toward you.
“General!”
“General!”
Master Yoda nods at them as he stares directly at you with a curious smile, “come with me young one. Much to discuss we do!”
...
You remember the first time you seen a ghost, you were five years old. Your parents had been telling you a story about your grandma who had passed away many years ago, reminiscing on the time they had with her with fond smiles. You had never met her, but you had seen a holophoto of her taken a few days before her passing. As they told stories from the memories they had of her an old woman faded into view behind your mother. She had the same bright blue eyes that your mom had, and her hair was long and grey, braided in two braids just as your grandma always wore.
She smiled at you with a brightly, and you tilted your head curious, “What’s your name?”
Your parents looked at you startled wondering who you were talking to when they see you were talking to the empty wall behind your mother.
My name is Mary-Ann.
“Mary-Ann is a pretty name. My grandma has that name!” you say happily. Your parents look between you and the empty wall in horror not understanding what is happening in that moment. The old woman walks across the room slowly with her cane and stops in front of you.
You my granddaughter have a gift. Something special that not a lot of people have.
“I have a gift? You mean like superpowers?”
She chuckles warmly. Yes, you have been given the sight to see those who became one with the force once more.
“What’s the force?” you ask.
It's what connects all living things and if you have a special power like yours, it can connect you to things that are no longer living as well.
“So... I can see ghosts?”
Yes, that right. Though many of us do not have the strength to appear before you. You will hear most of us without ever seeing us.
“So, I can’t see the ghosts but... I can hear them?”
As you grow, so will your gift. It will be hard, and you will suffer, but my dear the force chose you for a reason. Never forget that. Take care and may the force be with you...
She fades away slowly, and it is just you and your parents again. You look at your parents and their shocked expressions as tears fall from your eyes, “can you tell me more stories about grandma?”
After that encounter you started to hear people, whispers and quiet conversations of people who weren’t there. You very rarely seen a ghost, but you did on occasion. You came to learn that the more you knew about someone, if you had pictures or memories or stories that connected you to them in some way you had a higher chance of seeing them if they chose to appear before you.
You thought it was really cool at first, you had a super power that nobody else had, not even the Jedi, but as time went on and you would constantly hear voices talking in your ear, or cries of those who suffered before they died it changed you. You constantly got headaches, you mumbled and whispered to yourself as a way to ease the voices to thinking you were talking to them. You had no friends because everyone labeled you the weird kid, the one parents told their kids not to play with because something wasn’t right with you. Your parents tried there hardest, they took you to doctors, specialists and shamans, but nothing helped and nothing worked.
You continued to grow up isolated and alone with only the voices and ghosts of the past to comfort you over a gift you never asked for. You started to ignore the voices, ignore the ghosts and instead do everything in your power to drown out the noise. You took up mechanics, constantly tinkering and building, taking things apart and putting them back together. The loud noise of the tools, the memorizing of manuals, the comfort you felt in being able to fix something that's been broken like you wish someone could do for you, it became your life. You excelled in mechanics and when the war started you decided that you could use your skills for good and joined the GAR. It was also because the Jedi were the only people you haven't tried to talk to about your gift, and you figured if they couldn’t help you then nobody could.
You sat on a mat in front of Master Yoda as you told him all this his eyes never leaving yours. Somewhere during your explanation, you started crying and you felt as crazy as you probably looked to the old Jedi. He smiled at you, “Yes. A gift you have... From the force indeed it is...”
You sigh wiping the tears from your eyes, “but why me? I can’t do anything a Jedi can. I can’t lift things or jump high or fight with a saber. All I can do is hear people I don’t want to hear!”
“A mystery this is... Research we must do... Louder the voices have become, yes?” he asks you.
You nod, “Yes. I think... the fallen soldiers are talking to me.”
“Yes... Sense them around you I do.” he says as he sits in front of you now grabbing your hands, “Know you can hear them, they do...”
Master Yoda waves a hand around your head and your headache eases, the voices that were trying to get your attention now a whisper. “What did you do?”
“Trick of the mind. To quiet the voices. Still there they are but... less.” he explains simply and gets up again, “tell no one of this you must. Call for you when I know more, I will.”
You nod gratefully toward him, “Thank you, Master Yoda!”
...
The next day you sat in the mess hall at a table in the far corner away from everyone. Rex walks in with Jesse and sees you out of the corner of his eye and smiles slightly at you. You sat cross legged on your chair, your sandwich shoved in your mouth while you were tinkering with a bunch of small parts that looked like junk, but he could tell it wasn’t junk to you. Your hair was pulled up into a high tail that swung every time you turned your head, and your eyes kept scanning around you like you were looking for something. Rex grabs his lunch and against his better judgement walks over to your table.
“Hey uh... Mind if I sit here?” he asks with a hesitant smile.
Your heart flutters in your chest as you rip your sandwich out of your mouth, “S-Sure!”
He sits down and looks over at your bandage, “How's your head?”
“Hmm? Oh! It’s okay, I’m okay!” you say smiling, your cheeks burning. You look down at the parts you were tinkering with to avoid his gaze.
“What are you working on?” he asks trying to carry on the conversation.
You look up your gaze flickering between the parts in your hand and the warm brown eyes of the captain, “Umm... it will be a solar energy powered stun grenade...”
He looks startled, “You're building a stun grenade in the mess hall... for fun?”
“It’s solar powered. Which means it won’t go off and hurt anyone unless its charged with sunlight. And I... like to build things... keeps my hands and my mind busy.” you shrug as you continue to pull parts and jigsaw them into a sphere.
Oh Cap’s got it bad! He’s getting embarrassed look at his ears!
You casually glance up and see his ears turning red as he stirs his soup and you smile at him warmly, “You know Captain, this is the first time someone's sat with me at lunch.”
“R-Really?” he asks stunned.
You nod again, “Yeah, I’m... a little weird. Most people don’t enjoy my company...”
“Well, I enjoy your company.” he states matter of fact making you both blush and look down.
We all knew the captain was awkward but this is just painful...
You sigh at the soldier's voice and put the final pieces of the grenade together completing it. You smile at your little contraption and when you look at Rex, he’s watching you with a gentle smile, “You’re not weird you know. I think your pretty interesting.”
“Just wait. You keep hanging around me you’ll see...”
He chuckles, “Can’t wait.”
Captain you sly dog you!
Jesse comes over to your table and puts his tray down beside Rex eyeing you and him with a grin, “Hope you don’t mind captain but the other tables full and I would rather sit at a table with a beautiful view.”
Kriffin hell! The di’kut stole my line!
You chuckle at him as Rex looks at him exasperated, “who taught you that line? It's terrible.”
“Fives obviously. Who else?” he says with a sad smile that Rex returns.
“Whose Fives?” you ask curiously already thinking you may have the name of the soldier whose been annoying you for the last two months.
They both look to each other and nod, “He was one of the finest arc troopers in the army of the republic. He was also a terrible flirt.”
“And he had the most ridiculous sense of humor!” Jesse laughs.
Rex smiles warmly, “Yeah. He always stood up for us and all our brothers. Losing him hurt more than most...”
“Sounds handsome.” you smirk and the two of them start laughing.
Jesse slaps the table he’s laughing so hard, “We all have the same face ya know!”
“Thanks for the reminder” you wink at Rex, and he blushes hard rubbing the back of his neck.
Maker just ask her out already! It's embarrassing captain. Man up!
You try not to laugh at the nagging fallen soldier, “Why did he choose the name Fives?”
“His number is CT-5555. He even got a five tattooed on the side of his head,” Rex explains thoughtfully as you take a sip of water. It is then that a soldier starts to appear beside Rex, his hand on his shoulder. You lock eyes and you choke spitting your water across the table at Jesse and Rex.
“Oh maker! I-I'm so sorry I- hold on!” you stammer completely flustered as you grab a napkin and lean across the table to wipe Rex’s face.
You can see me! You see me! I know you did!
“It’s alright. I can get it y/n you don’t have to...” he says flustered as Jesse chuckles wiping his own face beside him.
You hand Jesse another napkin, “I am so sorry I promise I didn’t mean to do that I just... kriffin hell! I gotta go!”
You jump up grabbing your stuff and shoving it into your bag as you run off flustered and embarrassed beyond belief, leaving the two soldiers wet and confused. Rex looks beside him to the empty space wondering what you saw that spooked you so bad.
...
You sat on top of Master Yoda’s starfighter giving it routine maintenance to keep your mind busy. You heart hadn’t stopped racing since you left Captain Rex and Jesse in the mess, you really are ridiculous. Why do you even try to make friends? Honestly as if Rex would see you as anything other than a mechanic with a tendency to do the stupidest things. This is why you're better off alone, so you don’t get your hopes up.
Don’t throw a pity party it was a mistake. Honestly it was my fault.
“Of course it was your fault! You’ve been yapping in my ears for the last two months! What do you want?”
Fives sits on the hood of the starfighter looking down. Honestly, I’m not sure. I just... can’t rest until I know my brothers are safe.
You drop your tools in your toolbox, “Fives were literally in the middle of a war! Nobody can promise their safety!”
I know Rex put in a report on what happened when I... died. I know he’s searching for answers. Please tell him to be careful, it’s not his time to join me yet. He needs to finish what I started, for all of us but he has to be careful.
You sigh rubbing your aching head, “That’s an awful lot of responsibility to put on one man.”
Yes, but he can do it. He’s Captain of the 501, if he can put up with us and General Skywalker he sure as hell can do just about anything...
You hop out of the star fighter and sit on the hood beside Fives. You were right he was handsome. His hair was cut short showing his fives tattoo on the side of his head and a cute triangle goatee on his chin, and this lazy smirk that you could tell got him in all kinds of trouble.
“Is there something else?” you ask quietly.
He looks at you startled for a moment and then smiles knowingly. Yes. I want him to be happy. We all have had our fair share of loss but Cap he... has had to deal with so much. He needs a light at the end of the tunnel ya know?
You nod not really understanding where he was going with this.
He's had a crush on you for a long time and I-
You gasp, “He what!? Fives that’s not true...”
I’m not lying. It's pathetic really. He watches you when he thinks no one is looking. He even drunkenly admitted at 79’s one time that he wanted to ask you out but he’s just too busy to commit to anything and he wants to do right by you if he’s gonna ask you.
Your cheeks heat up, “Th-There’s no way. We barely talk. I literally spit water at him today like a lunatic! And that’s not including I'm literally sitting here talking to you beyond the grave right now! I am a mess, he doesn’t want me!”
He smiles at you warmly, y/n... you might just be what each other needs and you both don’t know it...
You sigh, “You said it yourself. Rex has been through so much. The last thing he needs is another person with issues to come into his life and cause more chaos for him to clean up. No matter how much I like him... I will not put him through more grief...”
“You like me?”
You jump as you look down and see Rex standing in front of the ship with bright red cheeks and wide eyes, you turn to Fives and he’s laughing, “You did this on purpose didn’t you? You knew he was there?” Fives just shrugs his shoulders and continues to chuckle. “If you weren’t already dead I would strangle you right now!”
You slide off the ship and stand in front of Rex your cheeks on fire, “How much of that did you hear?”
“I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been here for a while and I think we need to take you back to Kix because-”
“Rex... I have a secret. A gift that I’ve had since I was a kid, it’s... I can hear and sometimes see people who have... died.” you whisper while not looking at him. You can’t bear to see his expression.
“You...? Can see ghosts?” he asks confused.
“Y-Yes I can. And it’s alright if you don’t believe me, it's a lot to process which is why I don't tell people, and I shouldn’t even be telling you right now, but I just want you to know that I’m not crazy! I- well honestly, I might be crazy-”
“y/n”
“And I really don’t want to cause you any more trouble than I already have I-”
“y/n”
“Even if you don’t believe me, I just want to continue being frie-”
He grabs your waist and kisses you, hard. You freeze, all around you, you can hear cheers from thousands of soldiers only you can hear making your ears ring and your head pound, but you could care less in that moment. Fives stands off on the side hollering with a huge smile.
Atta boy Cap!
He pulls away and strokes your cheek, “I believe you y/n. And like I told you earlier today, I think you’re really interesting. I didn’t realize how interesting you were going to be but... I still wanna ask you out if that’s okay with you?”
“Really? After knowing what you know about me?” you ask stunned.
He nods, “The Jedi can do impossible things so who's to say there aren’t other people in our galaxy that can do them too?” he leans forward his head touching yours, “so can I ask you on a date then?”
You smile and you feel his breath on your lips, “I would love to go out with you Rex.”
Finally! I’m dead and even I didn’t know if he was gonna go through with it!
You can’t help but laugh, “Shut up Fives!”

Happy Weekend! I was wondering if you could do an angst fic w/ TBB x Fem!Reader where they’re on a mission and the ground crumbles beneath her and she falls and they think she could be dead? Thanks! Xx
Happy Thursday! Sorry for the delay, I hope this is somewhat what you had in mind😊
“Echoes in the Dust”
The Bad Batch x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Falling, presumed death, grief, survivor’s guilt, panic
The ridge was narrow. Too narrow.
You moved with your blaster raised and your jaw set, following closely behind Wrecker as the team pushed forward. The rocky terrain was riddled with ravines, fault lines, and fractured earth—left scarred by years of shelling and seismic bombardments. The mission was supposed to be simple: infiltrate a Separatist holdout and extract data.
It was never simple.
“Movement on the northwest cliff,” you called into your comm. “Looks like clankers repositioning.”
“Copy that,” Echo’s voice crackled. “Tech, I’m sending coordinates to your pad.”
Hunter glanced back at you, just a flick of his head, a silent confirmation. You nodded. I’m good.
You were always good. Until the ground gave out beneath you.
It was subtle at first—just a soft shift under your boots, like loose gravel. But then came the snap. A hollow, wrenching crack that echoed through the canyon like thunder. The rock splintered beneath your feet. You didn’t have time to scream.
Just time to look up—into Hunter’s eyes.
“[Y/N]—!”
You dropped.
The last thing you saw was his outstretched hand, just a second too late.
Then the world became air and stone and darkness.
âž»
Above, everything exploded into chaos.
Hunter hit the ridge on his knees, arms dragging at loose rock, clawing like an animal trying to dig you back out. “No, no, no—”
Echo slid in beside him, scanning with one cybernetic arm extended. “I can’t see her. It’s—kriff—it’s a vertical drop. She went straight down.”
“I should’ve grabbed her!” Wrecker was pacing in wild circles, fists clenched, eyes wet. “I was right in front of her—I should’ve—she was right there!”
“She didn’t even scream,” Echo murmured. “She just
 vanished.”
“I’m scanning for vitals,” Tech said, already tapping furiously at his datapad, but his voice was thin. “There’s no signal. No movement. Her comm—either it was destroyed in the fall or
 or she’s—”
“Don’t finish that sentence,” Hunter snapped, voice like a knife.
The wind howled through the crevice she’d fallen into, dragging dust and silence with it.
Crosshair stood several meters back, motionless, his DC-17M dangling loosely in his grip.
“Say it,” Echo growled, glaring at him. “You’ve been quiet this whole time. Just say whatever snide thing you’re thinking so we can all lose it together.”
Crosshair’s eyes flicked up, storm-gray and unreadable.
“She’s dead.”
“Shut your mouth!” Wrecker roared, storming toward him, but Echo shoved himself in between.
“She could be alive,” Echo said fiercely, though his voice cracked. “It’s possible. People survive worse.”
Crosshair didn’t move. “Not from that height.”
“I said shut it!” Wrecker shoved him back, but it was all broken fury—guilt bleeding through his rage. “She was smiling, dammit. Right before. She looked at me and said, ‘We’ll all get out of this,’ and I didn’t even answer her back—!”
“Stop.” Hunter’s voice cut clean through the storm.
He stood now, rigid and furious, his back to the team, staring into the void where you’d fallen.
“She’s alive,” he said.
Tech looked up from his pad slowly. “Statistically—”
“I don’t give a damn about statistics.” His voice was hoarse. “I felt her. She was right here. She’s part of us. She wouldn’t just be
 gone.”
His hand trembled slightly. Not from fear. From the weight of it.
He was the one who told you to cover the flank. He was the one who said the ridge was stable enough.
She trusted you, Crosshair had said.
No. She trusted him.
And he’d failed her.
Hunter turned and began strapping a rope to his belt.
“Sergeant?” Tech asked cautiously.
“We’re going down there. All of us. We don’t stop until we find her. I don’t care if we have to tear the planet apart.”
Echo moved first. “I’m with you.”
Wrecker stepped up beside them, his breath hitching. “Me too. Always.”
Even Crosshair nodded, silent again.
As Hunter stood at the edge, ready to descend into the place where you vanished, a single thought thundered in his mind:
She can’t be gone.
Not you.
Not when your laugh was still echoing in his ears. Not when you told him last night, during watch, that you’d be careful. Not when he never got to tell you that he needed you more than he ever let on.
He’d find you.
Or die trying.
âž»
The descent into the ravine was slow, agonizing, and silent.
The team moved as one—Hunter leading with a lantern clipped to his belt, casting narrow beams over jagged rock and twisted earth. Echo and Tech followed with scanners, mapping every crevice. Wrecker moved boulders with his bare hands, gritting his teeth with each one. Crosshair, ever the rear guard, watched from behind, but his silence was sharp, eyes flicking everywhere.
Hunter’s voice echoed through the narrow stone corridor. “Check every ledge. Every outcropping.”
“She could’ve hit a rock shelf and rolled,” Echo said, carefully scanning below. “Or worse
”
“Don’t,” Wrecker said. “Don’t even say it. She’s alive. She has to be.”
They moved deeper into the ravine—until the beam of Hunter’s light caught something.
“Wait,” Tech whispered, grabbing Echo’s arm.
There—thirty feet below them, half-buried under collapsed shale and bloodied stone—was a figure.
Your figure.
You were sprawled on your side, your body twisted unnaturally, one leg crushed beneath a slab of rock. Blood soaked through your jacket. Your head had struck something hard—too hard—and you weren’t moving.
Hunter nearly dropped the lantern.
“[Y/N]—!”
He was down the rest of the way before anyone could stop him, crashing to his knees beside you.
“Don’t move her!” Echo shouted, sliding in behind. “Not yet. Let me check—”
But Hunter’s hands were already trembling as they hovered over you, too afraid to touch. Too afraid that this—this fragile, broken thing—was all that was left.
“She’s breathing,” Echo said. “Shallow. Pulse is—kriff—irregular. She’s lost a lot of blood.”
Wrecker dropped beside them, tears already streaking the dust on his cheeks.
“Is she—? She’s gonna make it, right? Echo?”
“She’s unconscious,” Echo said quietly. “And we need to get her out now.”
“Spinal trauma is possible,” Tech added, eyes locked on his scanner. “Multiple fractures. Her femur is broken—bleeding into the tissue. Concussion. Rib damage. Internal bleeding likely.”
Crosshair didn’t come any closer. He stood just at the edge of the light, staring down at you with an unreadable expression.
“You said she was dead,” Wrecker growled, voice shaking.
Crosshair didn’t respond.
Because he knew now—death would’ve been kinder than this.
The med evac was chaotic.
Hunter carried you the entire climb back—refused to let anyone else even try. He held you close to his chest like something fragile, as if you’d fall again if he let go. Your blood had soaked through his armor by the time they reached the surface.
Back on the Marauder, the team worked together in silent urgency. Wrecker helped secure you to the gurney. Echo and Tech patched what they could. Crosshair kept watch, pacing like a trapped animal.
And Hunter
 he sat beside you.
His hands were covered in your blood.
“I should’ve caught you,” he whispered.
No one argued. No one corrected him.
Because part of them believed it too.
You twitched in your sleep once—just a small movement, a flicker of pain across your brow—and Hunter nearly leapt out of his seat.
“She moved!” he barked.
“She’s still unconscious,” Tech reminded. “That doesn’t guarantee cognition. The swelling in her brain—”
“I don’t care what the scans say,” Hunter growled. “She’s fighting.”
He reached down and brushed a blood-matted strand of hair from your face.
“You hear me?” he whispered, voice cracking. “You hold on. You fight like you always do. You’re not going to leave us like this.”
Wrecker sat on the floor beside the cot, staring at your hand dangling off the edge.
“You’re not allowed to die, okay?” he said, softly, almost childlike. “You still owe me a rematch.”
Echo leaned against the wall, arms crossed, jaw clenched tight. “She shouldn’t have been the one to fall. It should’ve been—”
“Don’t,” Tech said, just as quiet. “We all blame ourselves. That’s not useful now.”
Only Crosshair said nothing.
But later—when the others had finally dozed off in shifts, and the med droid was running scans—he sat beside you alone.
“Idiots, all of them,” he muttered. “They think they lost you. I know better.”
He rested his hand beside yours.
“You’re not dead. You’re just too damn stubborn.”
There was a pause.
“
So come back. Or I’ll never forgive you.”
You didn’t wake up that night. Or the next.
But your vitals held.
You were still fighting.
And the squad—your family—never left your side.
âž»
It started with a sound.
A weak, choked wheeze from the medbay.
Wrecker heard it first—he’d been sitting on the floor beside your cot for the past hour, humming under his breath and telling you stories like he had every day since they pulled you from the ravine.
But when he heard your breathing stutter—heard that awful, wet gasp—he was on his feet in an instant.
“Tech!”
Footsteps thundered in from the cockpit.
Tech was there in seconds, datapad in one hand, expression already shifting from calculation to panic.
“Vitals are dropping. Pulse erratic. Respiratory distress—dammit—her lung may have collapsed.”
The med droid whirred a warning in binary, and Tech shoved it aside, already working to stabilize you. Wrecker stood frozen, fists clenched at his sides, helpless as machines blared and blood began soaking through your bandages again.
“She was getting better,” Wrecker whispered. “She was breathing normal yesterday. You said she was stabilizing!”
“I said her vitals were holding,” Tech snapped, voice tight and uncharacteristically sharp. “I also said we didn’t know the full extent of internal damage yet. The concussion is worsening. There’s pressure building against her brainstem. Her body is going into systemic shock.”
“Then fix it!” Wrecker’s voice cracked. “You fix everything! Please—”
Tech’s hands moved fast, too fast—grabbing gauze, recalibrating IV drips, re-administering stimulants. But beneath the precision was fear. A gnawing, brittle kind of fear that made his fingers shake.
“I’m trying,” Tech said, barely above a whisper now. “I’m trying, Wrecker.”
Your body jerked suddenly—just a twitch, but it sent a ripple of panic through them both.
Tech cursed under his breath. “She needs proper medical facilities. A bacta tank. A neuro-regeneration suite. This ship is not equipped to handle this kind of trauma long-term.”
“So what, we just wait and watch her die?” Wrecker whispered.
“No!” Tech snapped, louder this time. “We don’t let her die.”
He slammed his fist down on the console—just once—but the sound echoed like a gunshot through the Marauder. Wrecker flinched. Tech never lost control. Never raised his voice. Never made a sound unless it meant something.
And now, he looked like he was about to break.
“I’ve calculated a thousand outcomes,” Tech murmured, softer now. “And every variable keeps changing. Her body is unpredictable. She’s unstable. But she’s also resilient. She’s survived things that should’ve killed her ten times over.”
He looked up then, eyes glassy behind his goggles.
“But if we don’t find a way to get her real care—soon—we will lose her.”
Wrecker turned away, one massive hand covering his face. He’d never felt so useless. Not when they’d crashed on Ordo. Not when they’d been stranded on Ryloth. Never like this.
“I don’t know what to do,” he said. “I’m strong. I can carry her. Fight for her. But I can’t fix her, Tech. I can’t even hold her without hurting her worse.”
Tech approached quietly, placing a hand on Wrecker’s shoulder—a rare gesture.
“You are helping,” he said. “You’re keeping her tethered. She needs that. She needs us.”
The med console beeped—soft, steady. A pause.
Then a spike.
Her heart rate surged. Your head tilted slightly to the side. Blood trickled from your nose. Another alarm.
“No, no, no—stay with us,” Tech muttered, already grabbing the stabilizer. “Don’t go. Not yet.”
Wrecker dropped to his knees beside you, voice trembling.
“C’mon, sweetheart,” he whispered. “You don’t get to leave like this. You didn’t even finish your story about the time you pantsed Crosshair in front of the general. Remember that?”
He sniffed, brushing a strand of hair from your sweat-slicked face. “You said you’d tell me how you pulled it off without getting court-martialed. Said you’d sing me that dumb lullaby you like. Said you’d stay.”
Your fingers twitched.
A tiny movement. Almost nothing.
But Wrecker gasped.
“She moved!”
Tech’s head snapped up. “What?”
“She moved! Her hand—right here—she twitched.”
Tech scanned you again. “Neurological activity spiked. Minimal, but—”
You let out a weak, pained breath.
Another wheeze. Then a garbled sound—almost like a word, trapped somewhere deep in your throat.
“
H-Hun
ter
”
Both men froze.
Tears filled Wrecker’s eyes.
“She said his name
”
“She’s still in there,” Tech whispered, blinking quickly. “Cognitive reflexes are initiating. That’s
 that’s something.”
He turned to Wrecker, and for once, there was nothing cold or clinical in his tone.
“There’s still time.”
They kept watch through the night. Neither slept.
Wrecker read to you from the old datapad you always teased him for hoarding.
Tech adjusted your vitals every hour, even when nothing had changed, just to keep his hands busy.
And in the silence between beeping monitors and heavy breaths, they both spoke to you—about nothing, about everything.
Wrecker told you about the time he and you almost got arrested on Corellia for stealing bad caf. How your laugh had made him feel human again.
Tech told you the probability of your survival was now sitting at 18.6%, up from 9%. And that statistically, if anyone could beat the odds, it was you.
Wrecker chuckled through his tears. “Told you, didn’t I? Too stubborn to die.”
Tech looked down at your still hand, then whispered—just once—“Please
 don’t.”
âž»
The Marauder was silent.
Tech had finally collapsed from exhaustion in the co-pilot seat, goggles askew, still clutching the datapad with your vitals. Wrecker was curled on the floor next to your bed, snoring lightly with one hand near yours. Crosshair sat with his back to the far wall, arms crossed, eyes closed—but not asleep.
And Echo stayed awake.
He always did.
He was seated at your bedside, one cybernetic hand gently resting on the edge of the cot. The hum of the ship’s systems filled the space between the heart monitor’s steady rhythm. Your breathing—still shallow, but no longer ragged—was the only music Echo needed.
He hadn’t moved for hours.
You’d gotten worse. Then better. Then worse again. And through all of it, he’d held on. Let the others break. Let them rage. He had to be the one who didn’t fall apart.
But now, as he sat alone in the flickering light, his thumb brushed your bandaged hand—and he whispered, “You can’t keep scaring us like this.”
Your lips moved.
Barely.
He straightened. “Hey
?”
Your fingers twitched under his hand.
Your head shifted slightly on the pillow, a soft whimper escaping your throat. Your eyelashes fluttered—slow, disoriented, like your mind hadn’t caught up to your body.
“Hey.” Echo leaned closer, voice trembling now. “Come on
 come on, mesh’la. You’re safe.”
Your eyes opened.
Just a sliver at first. Squinting into the low light.
“
Echo
?”
It was a rasp, a whisper, but it was real.
Echo’s mouth fell open.
And for the first time since the fall—since the screaming, the blood, the race against time—his composure cracked.
You blinked slowly, pain visible behind your glazed eyes. “W-Where
?”
“Still on the Marauder. We haven’t moved. We couldn’t.” His voice was low and hoarse. “You weren’t stable enough.”
Your brow furrowed faintly. “Hurts.”
“I know.” He gently adjusted your oxygen mask, smoothing your hair back. “You took a hell of a fall.”
You tried to shift, but your body betrayed you—wracked with weakness, ribs aching, limbs sluggish.
Echo placed a firm hand on your shoulder. “Don’t move yet. Please. Just stay still.”
You obeyed—too tired to fight it.
“I thought
” You coughed, eyes fluttering. “Thought I heard Wrecker crying.”
Echo actually smiled, though his eyes were wet. “Yeah. That happened.”
You let out the faintest exhale—almost a laugh. “He’s a big softie.”
“Only for you,” Echo whispered, squeezing your hand carefully. “You scared him half to death.”
There was a long pause.
You looked up at him, brow knitting again.
“
You thought I was gone, didn’t you?”
Echo’s throat tightened. “We all did.”
“But you stayed.”
“Of course I stayed.”
Your gaze lingered on him. He looked exhausted. Hollowed out. His prosthetic arm twitched like he’d been clenching it too long.
“You haven’t slept.”
He laughed quietly—bitter and warm all at once. “Didn’t want to miss this.”
Another silence.
And then, so faint it barely reached him, you whispered—
“
I’m sorry.”
Echo stared at you, stunned.
“For what?” he breathed.
“For falling. For worrying you. For being weak.”
His expression broke. “No.”
He leaned in, voice rough. “Don’t ever say that. You didn’t fall because you were weak. You fell because the ground gave out. Because war is cruel. Because life isn’t fair.”
He blinked back tears. “But you lived. And that means more than anything.”
Your vision blurred—not from injury this time, but from the emotion in his voice.
He looked at you like you were the most important thing in the galaxy.
“I thought I lost you,” he said. “And I wasn’t ready.”
You let your eyes close again, overwhelmed by exhaustion—but you smiled softly through cracked lips.
“I’m here.”
He pressed his forehead gently to your hand, exhaling a shaky breath.
“You’re here.”
When the others returned—when Hunter stumbled in and dropped to his knees, when Wrecker cried again, when Crosshair stood frozen for a full minute, just staring—you were already asleep.
But Echo met Hunter’s gaze.
And nodded.
“She woke up.”
And for the first time in days, the silence didn’t feel so heavy.

Hi! I read your Star Wars and Arcane headcanons and I loved them, congratulations on the amazing writing! I look forward to reading more of your works.
I'd also like to request a Bad Batch x reader headcanons/fic/blurb, you choose it. I had this idea that since they don't have a good relationship with regs, it'd be hard for them to receive appropriate medical care from clone medics, because of that a medic!reader would be assigned to assist them on their missions. In the beginning they'd be skeptical, but slowly they would warm up to the reader and secretly each of them would start to fall in love with their medic. How would they proceed? Would they be willing to share?
If any of this makes you uncomfortable or you don't write for these themes I understand and please feel free to ignore this, thank you in advance! <3
(Also English is not my first language, if there are mistakes or it's confusing I apologize, thanks again ;))
oh my goodness, first request on this acc!! tysm, this is such a cute concept!!! :D
wc: 1.7 k
reluctant bad batch x medic!reader
characters: Crosshair, Echo, Tech, Wrecker, Hunter
You’ve worked with some
difficult patients before, so when you were assigned to specifically join a force of specialized clones, you figured you knew what you were getting into.
Boy, were you wrong.
Not only were these men difficult, but there was something off about them; at first you thought it was your imagination, but as time passed, you wondered if maybe there really was something there—but what?
Wrecker started off as your favorite. His wariness wore off within two hours of meeting you; you laughed at one of his jokes, and it was then that he knew he was going to like you. And he told you so, even though you’d assume the opposite when you were treating him.
Despite his tough, brutish appearance, Wrecker was a bit of a whiner when it came to wound care. He’d hiss at the cold packs, flinch away when you tried to disinfect anything.
“Why can’t you just put me in the bacta tank?” he asked you one day, cursing and gritting his teeth while you pulled debris out of a nasty scrape.
“Because we don’t have a bacta tank,” you said with a gentle smile. “I’m sorry, I know this sucks.” You grabbed his hand and gave it a quick squeeze before returning to work.
He glanced at you through squinting eyes, and for a moment his face relaxed. He couldn’t watch you work—it’d freak him out too much—so he fixed his gaze on your face. You had been too focused to notice, but you did notice that suddenly he stopped twitching. He even seemed relaxed.
If you had looked up, you would’ve seen the faint smile on his face. It was less than his usual grin, the one he gave you whenever you finished patching him up. It was something softer, something stemming from somewhere deep within him.
He might’ve been your favorite, but you were certainly his favorite. Always laughing with him, amusing him when he wanted to show you something
you were almost kinder to him than his brothers were. What wasn’t there to love?
“All done,” you said, and he switched to his broader grin just in time. He threw a large arm around you, pulling you close enough that he could feel your heartbeat against his side.
“Thanks, Y/n! You’re good to me,” he chuckled, looking at you with a little too much fondness. You grinned, then both of you blushed and looked away.
“No problem,” you replied, clearing your throat.
Echo was another interesting one. An ex-reg, now half machine, half man. Sometimes you didn’t know what to do with him; you were trained in medicine, not mechanics.
But he was patient, and mostly self-sufficient besides. He’d answer any questions you had when you (attempted to) treat him.
You always noticed that he seemed
fragile, somehow. Make no mistake, he was probably the toughest guy in the troop, considering what he’d been through. But whenever it was just the two of you, sitting in silence, you could sense that there was something deep within him that he tried valiantly to protect—something soft.
You never pried. Instead you’d make casual conversation, even joke around with him. You weren’t sure what else to do, but it seemed to work with him.
Little did you know that he was fully aware that you had him figured out. But you didn’t treat him like a sob-story; that was what really got him.
If anything, you were the mystery. He was curious about you; he’d try to ask questions while you worked, but he didn’t want to make anything obvious.
Make what obvious? he asked himself one night. What was there that he was trying to hide from you? Certainly not his past; you already knew about that. What more could there be?
At first, he didn’t want to say anything. Or do anything. Why would he? He valued your friendship above everything. But after a while—specifically after he was reminded time and time again that life doesn’t last forever—he decided he might try something.
That something turned into several things; small, but hopefully you’d get the point. Grabbing your hand to lead you somewhere, whispering in your ear, praising you.
He feared he wasn’t being obvious enough, but you already knew from the moment he even wondered if he liked you. You always had him figured out.
Crosshair was, by far, your worst patient. He wasn’t a fighter—well, he wasn’t a fighter once you actually convinced him to sit down and let you treat him. Even when he was on the ground, unable to move, he’d curse and tell you to get away as you approached.
All that fire dimmed into red hot embers when you were close to him. He’d never look you in the eye. Occasionally he’d glance at what you were doing, making a snide comment about how he could probably do it better.
“Maybe,” you responded one day, “but then why would I be here?”
He just scoffed, but that did get him thinking. The thought of you gone somehow didn’t seem right. Had he gotten used to you being here? That couldn’t be it; every time he saw you, there was a distinct frustration stirring in his chest.
That frustration would spike whenever he saw you. The mere sight of your face would make him roll his eyes and scoff.
Whenever you weren’t looking, he’d stare at you. Half of the time it was because he wanted you to notice and get uncomfortable. But as he developed this habit, he found himself memorizing your features. The curve of your nose, the exact hue of your skin. The way you smiled and laughed.
Why didn’t you smile at him like that? The answer was obvious, but not to him. Eventually he developed a kind of jealousy, a desire to be noticed by you in a way that wasn’t entirely negative.
But he’d never actually put in the work to do that. His version of showing his newfound affection is continuing his snide comments, but with some odd twists.
“Wrap it up already, mesh’la-troan.”
Compliments, and always in Mando’a. You’d ask the others what they meant, and they’d just look at each other with a little grin.
“Crosshair said that?”
Tech was actually the most welcoming; or at least he claimed to be. When he heard you’d be joining the team, he was supportive.
“Having a designated medic is advisable for any operative group,” he had told his brothers.
But whenever you’d try to treat him, he’d backseat-doctor the entire time. You could tell that, internally, he was still getting used to not having to act as the medic anymore.
For that reason he was also a very difficult patient. You once caught him trying to put a dislocated knee back in place by himself, and he insisted that he “knew how” when you tried to intervene.
“I know that you know, but just let me help you!” you pleaded, pulling his hands off his leg.
He just sighed, gritting his teeth and letting you do your thing. Through all the pain, your words repeated in his head. He reflected that you never talked down to him while he tried to tell you how to do your job; but you never really did what he said, either.
You were aware of his knowledge, and you acknowledged it. But you knew what you were doing, too. As difficult as it was, he realized that he’d just have to trust you.
He tried talking about other things when you’d treat him. You were a good listener, though you may also have been considered a captive listener.
Sometimes you’d reference the things he said to you offhandedly. When you returned to a particular planet, you’d spout off a few facts that he’d told you before.
He found himself telling you more and more, trying to see what you’d remember. Or perhaps it was just the feeling that you were actually listening to what he was saying and keeping it in your head.
Once, while he was ranting to you, he let it slip.
“The population of one of the planet’s moons is considered to be the most attractive in the galaxy, though I’d argue that you hold that title.”
You had stopped moving, looking up at him with wide eyes. He glanced away, clearing his throat and continuing his rant with bright pink cheeks. You just smiled to yourself, giving his arm a subtle squeeze.
Hunter was a little intimidating sometimes; as the sergeant of the group, he had a certain air of authority about him, which did nothing for your confidence. That, and the fact that he was deadly silent around you.
You knew that he had something to say whenever you’d treat him, but he wouldn’t be saying it to you.
You would overhear him once in a while talking to his brothers about you, though. Mostly neutral or even positive comments—genuine or not, you weren’t sure. Maybe he was just trying to get the others to come around. At least at first.
It took a long time for him to warm up to you. Perhaps it was seeing how his brothers opened up to you, or perhaps it was the way you never gave up on him, but at last he came around.
You always talked to him while treating him, but never expected him to reply. Mostly you were just explaining whatever you were doing to him. He never seemed to care, and would just nod and let you do your thing.
Eventually you noticed a change. It was subtle, but it was there. He’d sit closer to you on the cot. He’d actually reply verbally when you tried to talk to him. And all that praise that he’d use to warm up his brothers, he actually said to your face.
“Thanks. You do good work.” Then he smiled.
He’d pat your shoulder or your head next. Then he’d actually start calling for you when he needed you, or when his brothers did.
“There you are. We need you.”
You blinked at him, hands freezing on your kit. He nodded at you with a grave face, reaching out to you. You smiled, stepping closer and opening your kit. His hand rested on the small of your back for a moment before he stepped away, letting you get to work.
His words rang in your head; they were genuine, not just him trying to get his brothers to like you.
Privately, they were all thinking the same thing. They did need you; you were a fantastic medic, sure, but you were something more to them. You represented safety. You were what they fell back on after a harsh beating, physically or mentally.
Because at the end of the day, they knew they’d be returning to you, and that you’d be waiting with open arms and a smile that made their hearts hitch.
