TDAC Drabble

Their entire existence was a fabrication. (Y/N) started believing that after spending years in this digital, fictional world known as - in Caine's words ���THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS”. It was easy for them to reach this conclusion about themselves. In the end, everyone had doubts about their identity. It was challenging to grasp that they will no longer recount their past outside the circus. The sound of snapping drew (Y/N) from their thoughts, eyes looking up to the snapper. The one and only ringmaster of the VR game drifted in front of their peripheral vision- teeth forming into a grin.

“My dear, you seem troubled! What’s going on in that little noggin of yours?” just like comedic timing called, Caine tapped his cane on your head- a satisfying pop erupting as (Y/N)’s head opened like a compartment. Their hand shoots up, shutting their head as quick as the ringleader opened it- offering a frown at him. “Seriously, Caine? You need to stop doing that.”

Stuck in the Static

It started small, at first. Or at least, that's as much as he can remember. A small jab here, a rude joke there. Something, anything to break up the monotony of the adventures. Caine might say each one was unique, but the hundreds upon hundreds of adventure's he'd been on say otherwise. Small themes repeating, then sections, then whole character's. It was all the same. Any day and everyday.

The.

Same.

Thing.

Every.

Single.

Day.

So he found his own way to break up the monotony. He didn't know when it got as big as it did. But here he was. Countless others come and gone. Most simply unable to take it any longer, some unable to take him any longer. He didn't care, he couldn't care. When life's a game, why not break the physics engine? Shoving and pushing all of those around him, insulting them just to see their reaction. Anything goes. If they abstract? Better them then him. This may be hell, but better one he knows then one he doesn't. He's definitely done enough to warrant ending up there anyways. So he'll shove. He'll hurt. He'll insult as much as he can. Better to live feared then die cared about. He's lasted longer then almost all of them anyways. And he'll keep doing so. And so, Jax left his room, ready for whatever asinine adventure Caine had planned for today. Not like it'd be any different then the thousands of days he'd already been here.
