rewatching rise and??????? donnie got done so dirty in the s1 finale

spoilers btw if you haven't seen it

"all of my tech is on standby, and i mean ALL of my tech" is such, such a cool moment, icon the man the myth the legend

and it does buttfuck nothing?????

mikey throws an entire ship at shredder (which was actually the coolest scene ever like GO BBG GO), raph drags shredder so hard and sucker punches him, leo is busy with splinter kicking ass, and donnie's tech does nothing 💀 why give everyone such cool scenes, then give donnie an epic ass shot and have his attack do nothing

and ykw??? maybe it was so there could be a plot of "he's so sad because he didn't contribute to the fight ☹️☹️", which would've been fun to see, i am a slut for angst, but no..?

honestly that could've actually been a point in a later episode because not only did his tech fail, but he got his battle shell destroyed by shredder, AND he was literally bait in the end fight so he got beaten up while his brother did the beating but NOOO mr. self-proclaimed emotionless bad boy can be useless and just cope with it

sigh this is kinda incomprehensible but whatever

like.... i'd be absolutely devastated if i knew that while my brothers were being awesome, i, who was also known for not being very skilled in fighting (ie. basketball, sportsball, lair games, giving up when fighting the crabs bc his techbo was dead) was still known for not being very skilled in fighting after giving it my all

credit where credit is due, he did learn how to control his tech-bo rocket thing, which would've been COOLER if he DIDN’T get FOLDED LATER

maybe he just needed to have his awesomeness toned down because he was very prominent in the season.... but leo (also prominent, more prominent) had a whole sidequest where he was insanely badass

yeah okay this made sense tldr donnie could've been so much cooler in the shredder fight

This little guy, right here. Showed up in one episode for like 5 min and was never seen again. Appeared in 'The search for Splinter' episode in 2003 tmnt.

His neck is extendable and fully articulated, he can go in his shell. I love him and I want one. After that would be Shelldon(rottmnt) and Metalhead(2012)

I actually quite enjoy all the gadgets the turtles have; the shellraiser, the turtle tank, the party wagon, shellcell, t-phone, techbo, battleshell(both of them), Don's gliders, the themed grappling hooks, everything my friends everything.

So you know how C! Tommy is a shapeshifter in my AU, right? I just had a funny thought that Tommy used to shapeshift to have demon hybrid features(like red horns, tail, claws, and sharp teeth) and called it his "crime boy" form and he'd always do his pranks, crimes, and other mischievous shenanigans using that form. However, because of this, Phil, Wilbur, and Techbo always knew whenever he was planning something(like a prank) because he would always use that form when he's scheming :] He mostly used it was a kid and gradually began to stop using it as much when he and Wilbur arrived at the SMP. He began using it more though when Eryn also came to the SMP :)

Hey do you mind questions about your AUs? Bc I'm fascinated by your Krang raised Casey AU. Specifically, what is the turning point for Kasey starting to view the turtles as family?

Kasey started to view the turtles as family through the Mad Dogs insistence that Kasey IS family, no matter what, even at the worst of times.

No matter what Kasey would do to thwart their plans (sabotaging supply runs, interrupting missions, stealing from them, fighting and trying to cause them real harm)… The turtles would never actually hurt him (they did fight back of course. I have one of these fighting instances as a commission here. but they were unwilling to seriously injure him. plus he has regenerative powers lol).

The Krang raised Kasey with a HUGE ego to keep him under their manipulation. But they only ever saw him as a weapon to defeat the turtles and harness Donatello’s tech abilities. But despite this ego, Kasey still craved affection that the Krang would never provide, and he has massive abandonment issues and insecurities that his true family would never love him because of what the Krang turned him into. He uses his superiority complex to hide these insecurities.

No matter how much Kasey tried to push and push and push away inklings of feelings like he belong… the turtles could not be dissuaded from trying to get through to him.

There have been a few instances where when they weren’t fighting (conversations, short stalemates, ext) they would just… talk to him. Offer him food. Kasey’s downfall is that he is excessively chatty and he would fall for this easily. It would always end in Kasey scampering off but it stuck with him.

(Kasey is also not above manipulation. There is one instance where he lured Leonardo away from the base, pretending to just want food and nothing else. Once in the meetup location, he knocked him out and scavenged any good tech supplies off his person…. But before leaving, he did eat the food Leonardo brought. Sitting next to his unconscious body. Running off before Leonardo woke up. This happens early on and is probably where the seed of wanting to leave the Krang began, unbeknownst to him…)

This all builds over time. There even become instances where Kasey would go out of his way to SAVE them, although it wouldn’t be obvious until the turtles thought about it later. Imagine all of them in a decrepit area, that is actively crumbling, with an incoming hoard of krang mechs and dogs. Kasey had stolen Don’s techbo. Don had took something of his. Kasey says they can trade. This was a lie of course, Kasey took back what was his + kept the techbo for himself. He ran off, while secretly ensuring that the turtles would be okay and the kramg mechs wouldn’t reach them.

Cutting this long explanation short, Kasey eventually is growing privy to the fact the Krang are actually just using him and don’t see him as a fellow krang brother (he sees the Krang as family. Even after joing the turtles. Lots of complicated feelings..). He eventually explodes in frustration and saves the turtle’s asses one last time and going with them instead. It took a little time for the Mad Dogs and the rest of the resistance to fully trust him, because he is a known manipulative little shit. But the Mad Dogs have seen for themselves glimpses of what Kasey had to go through. Kasey is a Hamato, and they love and accept him even if he has a hard time accepting this fact.

(There is one instance where they managed to spy on the Krang’s main base and have seen close up how the Krang treat Kasey but this post is already long enough)

The Hamato brothers make the frightening realization that the Assistant’s hands are aglow in a raging green fire. The green flames flicker as They grip the edges of Leo’s portal ring, claws somehow managing to pierce the blue energy as if it were a physical object to grab. With trembling grip, the Assistant has caught Themself from trailing endlessly through Leo’s portal loop. Straining to pull Themself out of the portal like a higher being unable to be contained.

“Omigosh, what do we do?” Mikey panics, unable to move from his spot next to his brothers.

“Oh, that is a new kind of freaky,” Raph exclaims with a shiver.

“Eugh, that is not what you want to see,” Donnie remarks as he grips tighter to his TechBo.

Leo glances over his shoulder at Donnie, hoping for some kind of answer as he asks in a panicked tone, “Is that supposed to happen?!”

For your AU how would you describe each of the turtles look?

Leo is four (almost five!) years old and looks very similar to canon, except he has a thin tail and wears clothes because that's what people are supposed to wear. Even if his choices can be a little . . . unique. Carol definitely gets headaches with the color mashes he chooses.

Mikey is twelve and already covered in scars from the tips of his fingers up to his shoulders (from accidentally sending baby Leo into the future during the lab explosion. Splinter has matching ones when he picked up Mikey in an attempt to save his life from what he thought was a massive fire). He likes to make paint patterns over them (especially when he's feeling really upset about them). He has a little tail that barely peeks out under his shell. He despises magic, even though he practices it accidentally when emotions are high. As a result, his emotions are typically dampened. He expresses them through art and acrobatics.

Donnie is thirteen, almost fourteen, and is similar to canon, except he doesn't have his goggles yet, he has a long and thin tail, and his techbo is still in beta phase. His battle shell is also bulkier than canon, and mostly just a hunk of metal with little flexibility. He's currently working on a more flexible model. He always feels like a huge part of him is missing, which is why he tries to build heavier things or replace what's wrong with more gadgets and bobbles. He has a belt that holds these, some hanging off it. He's more anxious about his family's wellbeing that canon, which means more security measures and paranoia. He tries to blow up April when they first meet.

Raph is fifteen and looks the most like canon. The only difference is a little blue bead attached to his bandana he put in himself. He wears a jacket while out and about getting food for the family. He was the first to meet April and instantly becomes friends with her. He has a long alligator-like tail, which is why April thinks he's actually an alligator when they first meet.

• "Oh, I'm not insane."

• "I'm in love!"

• Everyone froze. Donnie looked back at the crew.

• "Did you anyone see that coming or-"

• "Yes."

• They said bluntly.

• "And people do crazy things when their in love, right?"

• The robot whispered.

• "So let me give you a demo of my insanity!"

• Mechanical limbs shot from Donnie 0's shell and screws flew everywhere. It was obvious this wasn't a usual function.

• "You guys got a plan right."

• April asked, while arming herself with a rolling pin. Raph laughed.

• "Of course, I do!"

• "What we always do, fight!"

• Leo chuckled, as well.

• "And it's even easier this time."

• "It's only ONE psycho robot and It's FIVE of us."

• "He's got nothing on us-"

• Snap.

• Suddenly, the windows crashed in. The smoke cleared, revealing 3 other robots. That were designed just like Raph, Leo, and Mikey.

• "You just had to make test bots!"

• "It was for perfection, Leo!"

• Mikey squeezed between the two.

• "They're coming!"

• The snapper bashed his fist.

• "Let's go, Mad dogs!"

💜 As you can see, Donnie 0 was a lot more loco in the original. The actual idea came from the scary movie Megan. But, since Megan technically didn't go pycho and Donnie 0 is supposed to be smart and collected, this idea was scrapped.💜

When the brawl began~

• "Your time is up, Donatello!"

• Donnie 0 shouted, swinging his Techbo with ease. The softshell said nothing and continued to dodge and parry. (He's not this annoying, right?)

Leo and April's side~

• Leo's corner: Blue rook walked over, pulling out his sword. Surprisingly, he's quiet. (That's another bad sign.)

• "Man, if I just had my bat, this would be over in a flash."

• April whined. Leo laughed.

• "Don't worry, you got me with you."

• "And I'm 100% sure that handsome modified hair dryer has no mystic powers."

• The robot scoffed and cut a hole in the fabric of reality. Making a dark purple "portal".

• "You were saying?"

• Le-O said smugly.

💜The fic was gonna be so long if I went into everyone's fight! I wanted to, really. But, I didn't want it to go on forever. And yes, Donnie wondering if he that was annoying could've been in the final release, but I forgot.😅💜

I didn't realize it until you said it, but YES!! There are SO many little scenes that are locked into my brain and I had no idea why I like them so much, but now yessss, it's those subtle little movements that just make them so real and alive!! I know there are several moments where Donnie has a slight recoil from his techbo where I just find myself doing the same little motion with him. You can just feel it. And Leo has this little head wobble he does. It's all just, ugh I dunno man, it's JUST SO GOOD.

I can’t get over the subtle character animation in rise. The attention to detail gives these characters so much personality and makes them really seem alive
