[ With the brightest of smiles, J4 made his way to the transportalizer without a second thought. How exciting! He gets to visit someone with his body for the first time!! He could barely contain his excitement as he stood on the pad, input the coordinates and was on his way. 

In the blink of an eye, he appeared within a room that...appears to have an abundance of labeled boxes he can’t read everywhere. He stares in awe for a moment, his too big t-shirt slipping off his shoulder. Gently, slowly, he reaches out to touch one of the boxes. ]

It’s rolling through just how many things can go wrong at any moment in time and you’re just sitting there internally screaming at this point as you’re trying not to psyche yourself out and stop everything.

> After a few good minutes of intensely watching the screen, you evidently hold your breath when the bar hits 100%. Fuck... You carefully close out of everything, making sure no data gets corrupted, eject cables and rush over to Hal’s body to take the cords out and screw on his back panel. 

> Unclasping a secure lid, you make sure his charging cable is reachable, it can extend out as needed, and you finally take a moment to sit and breathe before you press his power button, clasp the lid, and you scramble out in front of him to watch for any signs of movement.

> Hal just sits there on his stand, eyes closed and completely silent for a few minutes before... Well! You hear fans running! Holy shit, holy shit what the fuck?! You’re biting on your lip as you shift and shimmy anxiously, waiting for him to start up.

> The abrupt movement of his head jerking up, piercing black and red eyes staring straight at you nearly has you toppling over with a startled screech and you immediately hear an apology or two from him, as he gets himself oriented. Pulling yourself together, you stare at him for the longest time before wrapping your arms around him, embracing him tightly. Oh thank fucking god, he WORKS!

> You pray so hard that someone could swear you were religious or some shit. With Hal’s body pieced together and the testing going smoothly, you’re really anxious as you leave your workshop to go retrieve Hal. You cant help but think back to just a few sweeps ago when the pair of sunglasses was pissing you off to the point of wanting to snap him in half. The anger and frustration you felt, and the slow realization that he.. Was actually scared..? 

> The fear of not existing sure does send a strong message to you.

> You brush those thoughts aside as you walk back to your workshop, Hal chattering away in your hand and you listen to him rattle off some information about this, that and the other thing. It’s times like this where you’re grateful you and him settled your differences after that intense moment between the two of you.

> As soon as you get back to the room, you get to work on asking him how things are looking before you warn him, saying farewell for now and you turn him off. Hooking him up to a large computer in the corner of the room, you proceed to make a back up on an external hard drive. There’s another wire that’s running along the floor and it hooks up on the back of the body. You need it to transfer Hal’s data and consciousness to his new physical form.

> With your pusher in your throat, you grip at the powered off shades, reassuring yourself over and over that you can just turn him back on if things go pear shaped. As soon as he’s done backing up, you make sure everything’s in order and you begin a data transfer.

> You sigh and shift in your computer chair as you grow restless, looking over at your matesprit asleep in the coon still. You always wondered how he could sleep as well as he did, even if it wasn’t that great of sleep to begin with. At least it’s better than those on and off sleep spells you find yourself in; Four, three, sometimes even two hours of sleep at a time. 

> Insomnia kicks your ass.

> Eventually, you get to a breaking point at which fidgeting no longer does it for you. You have to get up. You push the chair back, standing and you meander on over to the coon, tiredly threading your hands through DSi’s hair. You lean down to give him a kiss on the forehead, muttering about how you’re just going downstairs for a few hours to work and that you know you promised you’d get more rest than you were intending. You just can’t sleep when you’re feeling this way.

> With another gentle ruffle of his hair, you leave your room, and travel down two floors to your workshop, You have to finish Hal’s body. You’ve been building for a few months now and you’re so close. You just need to assemble him, run some basic testing to make sure the body is ready for his AI and….
