The crew of the novel I’ll be planning this year for NaNo. In order from left to right: Yoyo, Jake, Natalie, Isabella.

Yoyo has changed in appearance so much since I first drafted them but I now feel they are their own character and I’m pleased with how they look! They are a mechanic, or refereed to as a “Collector” in U.N.I.T as their official title, also “Techscraper” as nickname by others. They collect technology from various time periods and figure out how advanced ahead a population was before their demise.

Jake is a nature guy. He can’t aim a gun to save his life but always finds other ways out of situations he finds himself in. Nature, animals to be precise, means everything to him so that’s what he studies in the field.

Natalie is not an U.N.I.T agent but a woman who made a pact with a Spirit. This has granted her magic but she has not joined the Space Pirates. Something else calls her name.

Isabella grew up in the same orphanage as Jake. Like the first two, she’s now an agent of U.N.I.T and also like them, she doesn’t care much for people so her missions are on uncharted worlds with Jake. 

A fuller presentation of these character will come. This WIP isn’t named yet so it has a placeholder name for now. Thanks for reading ✨

Focus Home Interactive has released a new gameplay trailer for Deck13’s action-RPG, The Surge 2, that promises to bring uncompromising, limb-chopping, dynamic combat back to players. In today’s trailer, witness new weapons, environments, enemies, colossal bosses, and moves that improve the formula. There are ever-more challenges to overcome, equipment to loot and upgrade, and threats to survive.

As the press release reads, The Surge’s iconic fast-paced combat and unique limb targeting and looting mechanisms return for a dynamic combat experience that is as rewarding as it is unforgiving. Players will experience brand new, bigger, more lively environments as Jericho City is a massive location, packed with secret passages, buildings, factions, friends, foes, and terrifying bosses.

“Abandoned, half-finished mega-structures sit alongside ostensibly serene parks that have become nanomachine hunting grounds. As you progress through this nightmare, earn TechScrap and equipment pieces by tearing off enemy limbs to equip them to your exo-rig.

As the nanomachine infestation eats Jericho City, new, horrific amalgamations of man and machine roam the streets as gangs, the government, and cultists war for control over the most valuable areas.”

The Surge 2 is currently scheduled for a September 24th release.
