friends!! i'm graduating uni, can you believe that? i started slfcare when i was in high school and very sad. now i'm finishing my grad internship this week and pitching my graduation project tomorrow, which is gonna be a gamified website for youths with physical disabilities (more on that later because i might want to start up a discord with people who'd like to be my test users during development - whether physically disabled, otherwise disabled or not disabled ◡̈ ). i haven't logged in in ages because i've been quite sick and busy, which is not a good combination, but i'm so excited to jump back in and make something cool with and for you - and also resuscitate this blog, lol. i hope you've been well 💌

Hello! We're the Syndicate System, we primarily go by Synnie/Jade though :^)) Collective pronouns are They/Void/He, in no particular order. The bodies age is 19, and we are hearing impaired + mentally ill (vague on purpose, I don't know how Tumblr is with certain illnesses).

We are big fans of; DSMP/MCYT, Homestuck, Undertale, Jazzpunk, Regretevator, Entomology, (Bull) Sharks and more.. But these are primarily our interests.

I've been taking photos of people and I'm not sure I like it

I volunteer at our local art center, helping to build sets for their theater productions and helping them set up for various programs. They recently asked if I would photograph their dress rehearsals and some other events so they had photos for social media and other marketing efforts. This is the same place that hosted my photo exhibition a year ago, so they knew I didn't normally take photos of people but they asked me anyway.

Photographing the dress rehearsals is somewhat tedious, but I do get to see the productions, and in the case of their latest show, Ragtime, hear some glorious voices.

They don't want the images processed, which does save a lot of time.

Last week I took photos at their annual fundraising dinner. It was interesting to me that when I asked the various people if they wouldn't mind if I took their photos, nobody said no, and most proceeded to pose.

This next pair of people took some editing, actually a lot of editing, before I got a decent result.

In the first shot the guy on the right is not in focus and the second has a ghost. The final result is thanks to Photoshop.

The problem I am having is that I am not having fun. Getting up before dawn with the hope of capturing a great sunrise is fun. Standing on a ladder for hours (so that I am at the level of the stage) in a theater is not fun. And in a crowded restaurant, no fun at all. The lighting is terrible and the people are constantly moving.

Don't get me wrong, the people I'm dealing with are generally wonderful, but give me a cold mountain or a windy beach any day.

to all sweet people who encouraged me to finally go to the gym: I went! Three months later than I said would, but better late than never right? (I was so scared to go and know nothing!) i’m going to a ladies-only gym and everybody was so helpful, non-judgemental and clean(!), but you guys gave me that final push that was very much needed so thank you <3

(it isn’t insane lore, will flesh out as I go)

Coho the third- (pretends too) speaks in a proper British accent. Likes eating crumpets and drinking tea. He dislikes fighting, but is not afraid to do fight. Very genuine guy, except when you ask him about his accent.

Borris- A very famous salmonid film director. Started out filming p*rn but then branched out to not p*rn. He’s chaotic and loud, and likes explosions.

Joe- genuinely a chill dude. He likes making puns. He has a New York accent. (i.e. fugedabouit). Greatly dislikes fighting, but gives hell if he fights.

DeDee- levelheaded. He’s the sniper of the group, usually picking off his targets before they even start the fight. He isn’t one to initiate conversations, but has a bunch of stories to tell if you ask him.

Alli- She is a big softy, allowing lesser salmonids to ride her ax shaped head. She sucks at aiming her harpoons, so she usually just swims on the ground or jumps.

Tim- early bird. LOUD. Loves to tell slanderous lies for the fun of it. Will frequently debate Timmy over what is true. Left head of his hydrasuar

Timmy- unintentionally loud. Just say something and he’ll quiet down, but he becomes pound again over time so there’s really no point. He is however, a dumb sweetheart, and (usually) always tells the truth. Middle head of his hydrasuar (and in control of the body)

Timothy- Night owl. He is antisocial, usually just tending to plants. He is also quiet because his voice is usually drowned out by his brothers. Is the only one of his hydrasuar that dislikes fighting (left head. Can control the body in some extreme scenarios.)

Znevr- The crazy leader. He is quick to temper and headstrong, but cares about is siblings. He is extremely intelligent, having been able to repair the octo expansion laser, and make it more deadly and energy efficient, from scraps.

Frequent posts & more reblogs

Posting to Tumblr the past year has been lovely! I'll continue posting here as my main social, which means art will still be regularly posted but the frequency will change as the backlog widens or shortens.

I've been doing reblogs on days where I have nothing new to post, but I think instead of scheduling each one, I'll just mass queue 2 reblogs per day to keep the blog easier to manage and to put out little treats for followers in different timezones.

I actually would like to ditch Instagram eventually because fuck Meta, but I don't want to leave every platform I had followers on all at once so I'm not looking to replace it for the time being. It's being upgraded to weekly posts for now while I Glaze and replace the art I deleted from it.

The only reason I still have it is because I have more followers there than on any other platform ever. I was going to replace it with Cohost, but they just announced a shutdown, so never mind. I'm sticking with DeviantArt while I investigate replacements, but it's being downgraded to monthly posts because it keeps getting more and more awful to use.

I've been avoiding Cara because of the financial strain the site has been under, but I'm hoping it's cooled off a bit now. I don't plan on having a set posting schedule for it. My intent is to use it more as a portfolio than a social, so I'll just pop in to upload portfolio-worthy things on occasion.

Bluesky is one of my back-pocket socials. I'm not really posting there much, but I do check it daily and will rarely put something out to keep the dedicated followers fed. Any future socials I make will be put in this category, and I'll see how they fare against each other.

I was treating it the same as Bluesky, but I've had my account for a year now and honestly it's so dogshit that I would never recommend it to anyone. The home feed has been universally broken for like 75% of the past year, and that's a generous percent. I'm lucky to get a single notification on a drawing because everyone's abandoned the site or they literally can't see my art even if they follow me. I'm camping on the username, but I'm discontinuing posts unless it makes huge strides in improvement.

A little life update since it’s been a while:

Moved to Arizona, no longer in an abusive household (and am in a much better relationship now and I’m getting spoiled, what??? Still in shock but not complaining haha. It’s nice to be on the receiving end for once 🙈)

Currently on the job search but it’s been so good being in a new environment. It was hard the first few days but I’m settling in now and getting back up on my feet. I’m hoping my creative motivation comes back so I can start writing again 💕

Also, it’s my birthday in THREE DAYS AHH. I’m turning 30 🥹

Well that’s about it 😆 I’ll be around lurking
