Terra had finally, finally, tracked 'Joel' down to Jackson. They had actually let her in, maybe because she had fainted before getting to talk to whoever was at the gate, and she had requested for 'Joel' again. It was all she knew: Joel. Joel and Ellie. So when 'Joel' came, she forced herself to sit up from the bed they had shockingly allowed her to have. Why should she wait? But since she didn't know whether he had people listening in, she had to be careful. "My name is Terra. I was at Salt Lake when you came, sir," she whispered, "And I escaped while you... did... the thing you did. I'm... like your daughter, that's why I was sent there. Do you... understand what I mean?"

"At being a person," Terra answered confidently, because that was the goal regardless. "I'd like to be a person."
Ellie and Devon - or Awesome, as they called him - were a perfect example of what happened when a person found their person, and that had become a secondary goal of hers, right next to the first.
"So I can have someone who is happy to live with me, like Ellie and Awesome. I haven't fully understood some of the specifics of physical affection, but I think I can learn."
@savingthrcw asked: "I want to become better at... everything, so I can get married too. I want a husband. Or wife." from Terra to one of your choice, sneak attack lol
casey grunted at the question from terra and looked around for literally anyone else but it was just the two of them in castle now. he was not the person to go to for relationship advice. surely people would stop coming to him with these things, but no... it just kept happening.
"uh... what do you mean by everything, terra?" he asked, continuing to type up his latest report as he glanced over at her briefly, then back to the screen.

A Thread Called Connection: Ventus and Sora
Basically, I want to ramble about my favorite moments in Kingdom Hearts that involve characters' connections with each other, especially in ways that aren't directly talked about by the story itself (implication usually). This one is specifically about 3D and the Armored Ventus Nightmare.
It's something about Ventus instinctively saving Sora from getting consumed by darkness that just makes me want to cry? Especially when we find out in KH3 that Ven describes going through Sora's adventures as a dream that's kinda a blur to him. Heck, he didn't even know how Sora looked like until 3. And yet, he subconciously protects Sora fiercely.
And it's not confirmed but I've seen people entertain the idea that the AVN attacking Riku was the darkness twisting the armor's intent on protecting Sora by essentially having it attack anything that can/had hurt him before. Riku, who makes use of darkness AND has hurt Sora before, would be seen as a threat.
Since AVN is, well, a Nightmare, and Nightmares stem from Dream Eaters that protect the person whose heart they're connected to, the idea of AVN, even in a corrupted form, protecting Sora no matter what messes me up.
I've posted about it before, but THESE TWO! Becoming connected through a single act of kindness, and that bond carrying for years and years—the longest connection Sora has had in his life because it's been with him for the entirety of it. I just...I sob.
They're so fond and protective of each other TvT
#kingdom hearts#kh#kh sora#kh ventus#armored ventus nightmare#a thread called connection#this might be a small series where i talk about specific connections between characters#i'm gonna talk about terra and sora next LOL#yoroshiu rambles

81-85. Teen Titans (Seasons 1-5)
Pretty fun show! I had never seen the whole thing all the way through so it was nice to see it all the way through while also showing it to my boyfriend. Seasons 1 and 2 were really solid, 3 wasn't as strong, 4 picked up a bit, and 5 was great... aside from that ending. Wtf was that? How're you gonna cancel the show on the biggest cliffhanger of the series? Could've ended it on the episode beforehand and it would've been fine!
Anyway, the show is fairly episodic, not leaving a whole lot of room for an overarching plot, which was a little disappointing. There's a lot of things that are just hardly ever mentioned again (I'm looking at you Terra). The endings of seasons are a bit of a breather and allow for more overarching stories and those are fun.
The cast is really great too. There were hardly any characters I outright disliked (Beast Boy is a notable exception but even he has his moments). They're all really fun and goofy, and bounce off each other well.

open to: any and all (multiple welcome) plot: terra is the f.ree use party favor at the party your muse is hosting/attending. can range from fully consensual to n.oncon - just specify in the tags. loosely based on: x note: can request isabella if you want someone more inexperienced
She lost track of her clothes within the first ten minutes of the party, though that had always been part of the night's plans. The hands, lips, even teeth of strangers had become familiar with her body as the festivities wound on. Passed from person to person to make sure that all were satiated. Some were kind enough to let Terra finish while others laughed as they ruined her orgasms. At one point, someone even made a makeshift collar and leash for her out of their tie, making it easy to lead her around the property rented out for the party. She is draped over the pool table now, trying to catch her breath when she hears footsteps. "Finally done waiting your turn?"

@earthwilled ft aryin because therapy time
"It's a bad habit," the young soldier wearily chuckles at the words spoken, half in show of faith and half in belief that perhaps he could change. "I know, I shouldn't hold things in, but at the end of the day, I need to get through what I'm doing in order to have a moment to breathe and feel..." he reaches up with his claws and gently takes off the new hat he had gotten from his aunt and his little brother. a cowboy hat with a single plume of a red chocobo's feathers. it looked barren, compared to the rest of him. "Do you... do you think it's wrong of me? To not want to feel angry with the world that hurt me, and those that I love?"

Terra watches Echo, trying to figure out what is up with her, why she seems so upset. Even if things are hard now, they are free - more than that, Echo is still willing to let her follow despite having seen what she can do, they are still doing their best. And Terra can't help but think that this means they will be okay.
Why would it matter that it's her screw up? Is Echo worried she'll be mad? Terra tries to remember the various methods of comforting people besides patting their shoulders; there are so many strange rituals she doesn't understand but she's seen work. Opening her mouth, she hesitates, then gives Echo's back a little rub, "There there." The words are said with the outmost confidence, seeing as they seem to be a common choice among potential responses. Better? "Nothing bad happened. Nothing terribly bad. I can take a lot more than that, believe me, so don't worry. We just have to keep trying."

@savingthrcw / [ comfort ] sender tries to comfort receiver - Terra (the blind leading the blind)
There's not much Terra can do when she gets like this. The sheer concept of failure creeps up the back of her neck like a bad omen. Neither of them should be out here. That much she's learned in the short while they've traveled together. Terra's strong, but she's too kind to a world who doesn't deserve her. Echo's strong, but she's too confident in a world she barely knows.
"Terra." Her name comes out clipped as she rolls her neck, forcing herself to stare at the fire as opposed to her companion. The vault dweller grimaces, shaking her head. "I appreciate it, alright? But it was my screw up. I'm sorry I put you in that position, just... I'll make it up to you."
#THERE THERE#no but honestly given Echo's friendship if you squint you can begin to see Terra becoming a person. with hope#but her first concern is of course Echo's feelings#(you don't have to continue but I did)#galaeus#muse: terra#show: ff6#terra thread;

@ordinariums - Terra AU
There are sirens and blood and screams and fire everywhere, and Terra feels her skin burn on the inside, and knows it will take but a moment for her to lose control again and melt more people. She can see the soldiers, now very far but still marching in her direction, and unfortunately their armors won't save them from the golden energy that will turn them into dust. She doesn't want to do it, but she will. And then she lets out a cry of horror at the sudden movement, and instinctively covers her face from a potential blow, doing everything she can not to blow up because he's not inside an armor, and he may just be one of the city inhabitants; they have been so nice to her, helping her run from the bad guys. "Please, please, I don't want to hurt you, I just-I just don't want to go back!" she pleads, her voice high with terror, begging for his life, "Please don't try to take me..."

@higekki asked: [BELIEF]: in a moment where the receiver is lacking in self-confidence, the sender cups their face tenderly and professes their faith in the receiver's abilities. (Aqua n Terra 🥰) // send memes !
he can feel it all around him, rolling off of him like waves of darkness threatening to swallow him whole. now that he was in the light again, terra was still finding it difficult to regulate his emotions and get his thoughts in order. not being in control of one's own body for over a decade could do horrors to their self confidence and beliefs.
it seems even in all the time they've been away from each other, aqua is still his light. her hands touch his face and her words reach his ears and he can feel the darkness begin to fade back. his breathing begins to even out and he closes his head, leaning into her touch. how could she still believe in him, even after all this time? when it was his mistake that got them all here. . . ? brows furrow as he tries to fight back the negative emotions and focus on aqua's voice, on the feel of her hands on his face.
"thank you," he breathes out after a moment, eyes fluttering open. ". . . are you sure it's a good idea for me to be training the others with you?"

𝕿𝖊𝖗𝖗𝖆 𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖇𝖑𝖎𝖙𝖆
@rapports-de-combat
634.772: { 1 ; 2 }
__________🙛☙🕮❧🙙__________
𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕷𝖎𝖇𝖗𝖆𝖗𝖞 is one of those places that do not really have a precise location if they can avoid it, much like the fallen Atlantis or the end of the rainbow. So one can either enter from another library or come up to the front door through an uncertain land that seems to be hazy and incomplete, and they will take the latter route, both because the room that the aides inhabit doesn't have that many books and is a little too close to the edge of the void for comfort and because it is easier to find one's way back if one has gone that way before. And no matter how much the surrounding landscape with shifting, cloud-like outlines hates to be specific about itself, it is not unmappable and can be traversed, even repeatedly, like the streets of a foreign town before they carve an image into your mind and stop being foreign. So the way there is going to take them through any place that doesn't immediately betray what its surroundings are, through some path that is not often used due to being impractical and through a location that could plausibly be a part of the area, like a field of graying dandelions, into lands that seem partly to be built of clouds that spring when they hold your weight and harmlessly lap at your ankles like the waves lap at the shore. Crucially though, these lands do not intrude upon those who are going somewhere in particular or even just with a goal in mind that isn't counting with getting nowhere in particular. Oh, one can stumble upon them by accident, but it has to be while wandering thoroughly aimlessly. So the fastest way to get there is by knowing that you need to traverse that stretch of terrain and going in a vague enough direction so that it can meet you on the way. And it is not difficult to find a place that could be hiding an entrance like that in this shifting landscape that becomes a camp or garden or forest mirroring old memories. 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕷𝖎𝖇𝖗𝖆𝖗𝖞 itself is a different story. It doesn't really shift or change and things inside can be unnervingly precise about their placement, but it honours every connection between two records. Its shelves, if seen as a whole, stretch in thousands of directions that don't quite fit into space that can be perceived or traversed. And so, trying their best to be comprehensible, some of them stay hidden from view and in general, searching through them becomes a game of you and them guessing what the other has in mind. And then there are the books, more or less alive with their own longings to fulfill, some not wishing to be bothered anymore, some thirsty for a little more life to be breathed into them by a reader who can hold their words in their warm, beating heart. And then there is your own aspiration, your own desire to find whatever it is you're looking for, and you would do well to hold on to it.

Terra had thought it was another abandoned place, there were many like that, and she had hoped to be lucky. She was so thirsty and hungry without her IVs, the sun too hot - though she wouldn't exchange it for the artificial lights she had been living under even if it started cracking her skin.
She knew she had to be close to death, something was going to eat her or someone was going to find her and force her to fight, but something in her didn't want to give up; she wanted to stay alive and keep feeling the sun and wind and the smells, even the bad ones.
But then someone addressed her and she stumbled back so fast that she nearly fell, her eyes going to the dog - was it a dog? yes, she knew it was, even if she couldn't remember seeing one before - and then to the woman with a rifle, who wasn't wearing a radiation suit. She didn't think she remembered seeing a person out of one either.
"I'm-I'm-I'm looking for water," she explained, lifting her hands to show she meant no harm, "I didn't think someone lived here, I apologize." Please don't make your dog eat me, she wanted to add, but she'd rather wait and see if she was going to risk being shot at first.
[ closed starter for Terra @savingthrcw ]

"She ain't gonna hurt you. Heel, Cheyenne," Sunny spoke to her dog, second to speaking to the woman a few yards from her. It was way too early, but Cheyenne had been scratching at the door, sensing something was up. Sunny had let her out after putting on her jacket and boots, and picking up her rifle, of course. The dog sniffed and whine but didn't seem interested in doing her business, instead leading an annoyed Sunny out of the fenced in yard of their little house towards the abandoned school house. Goodsprings didn't have any children of it's grand population of 12 people.
There was a girl behind the chain link fence. Maybe younger than Sunny? Maybe... It was hard to tell. Maybe she'd been trying to get inside to building, but Sunny had locked that thing up, only going in to clear out whatever pests were getting in on occasion.
"Hey, you okay? Need a hand?" Sunny ventured closer, aiming her rifle towards the ground. She wasn't about to put it away and get a knife in the throat because she let her guard down. Even with a chain link fence between them and the best guard dog by her side, Sunny was cautious.

To Kill A Vulture
a song about social change
lyrics under the cut
C Suite deceased, three to the back and the leg Lead pieces to pierce like needles, eyes to rack up the dead Passing through you like a breeze or maybe vengeance instead It's just a shame you never saw the people pleased when you bled
To kill a Vulture is a population pleaser Anti-advocates for social change in culture are the lames who mourn the geezer There's a premium on petty cost increasers, Best protect your neck, they're showing 3-D reruns just outside the Hilton theaters
Can you feel the terra shakin'? The marchin' of the people most affected by the takin'. Are you bringin' home the bacon? The parchment sewn with seeds you chose to reap before you rake in.
To pull a common thread of decency, The needs of many supersedes the bottom lines of regency, To put it reasonably, Proceed into a retreat, you shouldn't exist without a reason to be
Lets sick the wolves on wallstreet, Little Red Bookin' it never looked so sweet, We tear into the super-PACs to show the world it's a pigsty It's my opinion currently they want us to all die
Yeah, well fat fuckin' chance, It's apparent to me that everybody's sick of this dance So if you're curious on how to make a politician listen It's a simple mission all ya gotta do is
Now put your hands in the air, If you see the best of us bleeding and you just don't care Yeah, we make a miserable pair, Let em know that time is fleeting now, especially theirs
Put your hands in the air, If you see the bougiest bleeding and you just don't care Sorry, they said that life's not fair, Let em know that time is fleeting now, especially theirs

Silk

silk has been prized for centuries. Originating in China, the first silks were made from wild-collected moth cocoons, which needed to be pasted together to form a fabric as their short, torn fibers and mineral coating prevented the proper spinning of thread. Eventually though, cultivated farms of larvae such as the Bombyx Mori or Domestic Silk Moth were created.

because a proper silk thread cannot allow for tearing of the cocoon, pupating silkworms are killed by boiling and their fibers carefully unwound by hand. the dead larvae aren't always wasted though, as many will be eaten later.

the resulting fabric is truly stunning, with a signature sheen caused by the prismlike structure of the fiber proteins. This beauty, along with the at times difficult nature of its production, has led silk to be widely considered a sign of luxury and status, even to this day.

it also lends itself quite well to some absolutely marvelous embroidery and pattern work, such as this Japanese kimono from 1860, this 18th century Persian rug, or this fantastic example of double-sided embroidery, where two weavers make a matching simultaneous pattern on either side of the cloth.
youtube

I also have to appreciate this Quran, made in sheer black silk and hand-painted gold by Azerbaijani artist Tunzala Mamazadeh.

in the 1940s, following WWII many dresses were made from the reused silk of soldier's parachutes, such as this beautiful wedding gown.

This gown, however, is made from an entirely different material. It's not just moths making silk of course! We've all seen a spiderweb before, in real life or pictures. Spider silk, secreted from the spinneret glands in the abdomen, is much harder to obtain as it's pulled bit by bit straight from the spider's themselves. With time and effort though, a piece like this golden orb weaver dress can be made. The dress took 5 years, millions of spiders, and cost almost $40,000.

spider silk is incredibly strong, with a tensile strength five times stronger than steel when compacted into cables and bundles. This has lead to it being used in high-capacity ropes and a material known as dragon silk, which uses silkworm-spider hybrids to made a form of ballistic armor.

on the gentler side, cobwebs were once used in the Tyrolean Alps of 16th century Italy as a delicate canvas for tiny paintings.

moving back to the moths, I'd be remiss to not include Fairy Feather silk, the world's thinnest with threads about 1/6 the diameter of a human hair.

lastly, I'll take this opportunity to showcase two silk-adjacent fabrics: Sea silk and Lotus silk. The first is made from the anchoring threads of the Pinna Nobilis or Noble Pen shell, and nowadays is only woven by a handful of artisans on the island of Sant'Antioco in Italy.

Lotus silk, as the name would suggest, is made from the thin strands of fiber that can be extracted from broken lotus stems. Each plant only produces a handful of threads, which must be unwound by hand, so the resulting fiber is very rare and expensive, with a single scarf costing $200.
Well I suppose that's a long enough thread for one day. I'll spin you a fresh tale tomorrow, but for now this is Uncraft signing off. See you next time!

world building tamaran from the ground up has taught me a lot about societies... because i used to think tamaran would have been a great system to blueprint for a utopian planet. on the surface level, it has really good hallmarks for greatness... but then they send their children off world to train for a war they don't understand, usurped & replaced the throne of a child with her sister & shunned her to the point of hatred, they are so deeply embedded in religious / scientific / magickal psychosis that it's hard to pinpoint where exactly their prejudice towards other lies... and then... the planet fell so.

"I wouldn't worry too much about it," Terra declares, as though she has any authority at all. "I don't know a single person under 40 who doesn't have at least a few nudes floating around out there." Or maybe she just says that to make herself feel better knowing there are more than just a few nudes of hers out on the internet. "Besides..." She turns to look the other girl up and down. "If you got it, flaunt it."
