Also, little question, what is your version of the Cybertronian take on adoption?? I saw the artwork you made of Wheeljack with the baby dinobots so I’m curious if that will be more common as the war goes on

As for adoption, similarly to how creations share a bond with their carrier and sire, an adopted sparkling can create a bond with their guardian. This only works if the sparkling has no bond to their creators, due to their deactivation or something similar. The bond is formed unconsciously once the sparkling finds someone they trust and feel safe with. Wheeljack formed this bond with the dinobots just a couple days after taking them in, Ratchet followed soon after.

I thought about the usual “he’s covering up scars from an explosion incident from the mines”, but then I thought “what if he just uses the mask because he wants too?” He’s not covering anything, he just feels more comfortable with a mask on (bonus it’s also safer, since he’s accident prone).

And then I thought “what if I just make him really pretty for no reason?” It’d make for a funny reveal to others who haven’t seen his face, expecting scars or an injury because, you know, it’s Wheeljack. But then he removes the mask for whatever reason and BAM super attractive guy. Everyone is shocked, they don��t know what to think anymore.

Twitch is small enough to just sit on Wheeljack's shoulder or hang of his back like a baby koala. At some point she even learn how sleep in this position so now Dad2 can work in the lab while she is taking a nap

Grimlock either picks Jawbreaker piggyback style or let him ride on his back when Grim is in his alt mode (also sometimes Swoop just... swoops down, picks JB by shoulders and flies off while Grimlock just stan there like 🦖 the frag am I suppose to do now?)

Tarantulas walks on his spider legs while carring Nightshade around, this way he can walk on uneven ground and climb while the kid can rest (Prowl is somehow balancing on his back, servo streached out in a "Onward" position. No one is brave enough to tell him it does not looks as cool as he thinks)

Hashtag is a little sad that she isn't as small as her siblings and she can't be carry around like the rest of them. Her height and weight don't not stop Starscream from still picking her up anyway when she complain about being tired. He even tried flying with her on his back (later, after they find Skyfire frozen in ice, Sky just picks her up like it's nothing, he is strong enough to far throw mechs twice as tall as Hashtag after all. In fact he is so strong, he can just let her hang of his shoulders while he is carring Starscream bridal style)

Swindle just picks Thrash by an ankle and hang him over his shoulders like a sack of dirty laundry, energon cube in the other hand, zero frag given. Thrash actually like this because now all of his energon is flowing down to his head and therefor his thinking should improve (it does not)

Snarl - He is unhappy. He has always been unhappy. Even when he was just given life by the Allspark, he felt nothing. He spends all day in the scrapyard building, laying down on the ground, not socializing with anyone, barely consuming energon unless Wheeljack begs him, and sleeping most of the day. When he tries to get out and be sociable, none of the activities or conversations brings him out of his miserable state. Even when he’s surrounded by people, he feels alone. It’s unhealthy, but this is all that he knows. He’s a tragic mech, but Wheeljack will never give up on him.

Swoop - Swoop is the most sociable of the Dinobots. He constantly wants attention, but not in a narcissistic way, but in a ‘I’m terrified of being alone please stay with me I’m begging you’ kind of way. He’ll learn anything and everything about a topic you like just to talk to you. He’ll ask you to watch him perform an aerobatic stunt and will end up flying into a ditch because he was too focused on whether you were paying attention to him to notice. He really needs a friend.

Transformers have so many sub factions within it’s own faction and perhaps the most recognisable are these pre-historic softies and terrors - Dinobots! 🦖🦕

Literal walking dinosaurs, they are led by Grimlock, the King of Dinosaurs, who takes no orders from anyone yet somehow always wind up with the Autobots.

Tiny drabble about when he found them below ⬇️

While out on one of his usual scrapyard runs, grabbing spare parts to recycle or slap into his next project, Wheeljack definitely did not scream when five pairs of glowing optics blinked at him from the shadows. Nope. Not a single yelp of surprise. Once he got a closer look (after maybe tripping over a broken exhaust pipe and landing more at eye-level to them), he realized they were… they were sparklings. Tiny, beastformer sparklings.

They seemed to be alone.

No creators or guardians in sight. Just five scrappy little things huddled among the junk.

…Well he- he couldn’t just leave them there, right? it was getting dark, the scrapyard was no place for sparklings, they looked to not be in the best state, they were in need of help. And since nobody else was around, he was going to be that help.

After some bribery with some energon snacks he found in his subspace, and enduring a few bites and scratches from the biggest one (who seemed to be trying to protect the others), he finally managed to gather them all up, shove them gently into an empty crate, and drive home.

Once at base, he made a beeline to his and Ratchet’s quarters. Still processing. Definitely not panicking. He just… wasn’t sure what to do or say yet. So he waited. Waited for Ratchet to get off shift. Not because he was stalling, no, of course not, but because he needed time to figure out what to do with the sparklings, he was the one that found them, he felt kind of responsible for their wellbeing now.

And in the meantime… well, the sparklings were filthy. A quick wash wouldn’t hurt, right? And while he was at it, they probably needed actual energon, not just leftover snacks as bribes. Feeding them seemed like the logical next step. Oh, and names he couldn’t just call them One through Five, that felt wrong, so temporary names it is. Placeholder names. Nothing serious. Nothing official.

Now they were full, clean, and drowsy. Naturally, the best move was to keep them close, they calmed down when near his EM field just like a sparkling with their creators, snuggling into his plating like he was some kind of walking heater, which made him think they probably couldn’t fully regulate their temperature yet. The tiniest one, Swoop managed to claw his way up to snuggle next to his neck cables, where it was warmer, that was adorable okay. He went to sit in his berth while keeping them close, it’d be better, more comfortable for them. It seemed like they liked it, they were starting to settle down, well, all except Grimlock, the biggest one, who was fighting recharge for some reason, and gnawing on Wheeljack’s pedes just to stay awake, which ow. But the others seemed content though, just a few more breems and they’d-

Whoosh. The door slid open.

And there stood Ratchet, frozen in place, optic twitching as he took in the sight: Wheeljack in their berth, covered by five beastformer sparklings.

Kind of wish the other Dinobots got proper love in other shows outside of just Grimlock. He’s like, either the only one who speaks or only one who appears at all

Though to be honest, he’s also the only one with a cool name. Slag, Sludge, Swoop, and Snarl are significantly less cool sounding than Grimlock. So I mean, in that aspect I can get it. But still, doesn’t mean the others can’t get anything
