I can't stop thinking about how canonically TFA Autobots have a technology to change a Transformer's frame, it's mentioned in Almanac that Drift voluntarily reformatted himself into an Autobot shell, and like sure he got that voluntarily but base on everything we know about Elite Guard, especially what they did to the Jettwins, there is no way they didn't used this technology without consent. Like that whole theory that Bulkhead is actually a war frame makes a lot of sense now.

Also Shockwave! Maybe in this universe Senator Shockwave was a Elite Guard who spoke out about war frames' rights and rest of the goverment was like "if you love war frame so much, why not become one" and forcefully reformatted him

So the first time TFA Ratchet goes into emergence with his and Drift's giant bittie. There's a lot of yelling and swearing meaning anyone walking past the room gets an audial full of new and creative words. Its enough to put Unicron to shame.

Meanwhile Drift is firmly holding his conjunx's servo with a guilty look on his face, this was his fault after all curse his CNA. If only he was the one sparked instead.

Once everything is said and done with the sparkling safely tucked away in their Carriers arms, everyone lets out a collective sigh as peace once returns to the clinic. Ratchet on the other hand gives his conjunx a scowl and grumbles out if they want another sparking they will have to wait until Ratchet can feel his legs again. Of course Drift accepts and begins pampering Ratchet while secretly spoiling their little bittie.

The second time is a lot more easier with a lot less swearing and yelling this time around as the sparkling took more after their Carrier than Sire this time. It still doesn't stop Ratchet from trying to break the record for the most swears yelled out by one mech in less than an hour. Team Prime can't help but be impressed as they listen from outside the room, poor Optimus had to quickly cover Sari's ears to prevent her from discovering the new and colourful words.

Sari still hears a few colorful words and uses them the first chance she gets and that chance is when their bitty bites her finger lol

Ratchet is proud and Drift is panicking about a sparkling cursing while Optimus damn near faints

Ratchet finally properly remembers his first meeting with D-R1-F7 only after Drift seemingly dies. The impetus for it is probably something small, like Ratchet actually getting to see his file or something and learning that this was his original designation.

Remembering doesn't make him feel much better though because what Ratchet remembers is how excited his younger ambitious self was to get to work on a War Mech back when he was still absorbed in proving he was the best medic out there and having little room for considering what War Mechs were and what their jobs entailed. All he did was treat his patient, make small talk, and say a few passable words he didn't really mean. Then sent D-R1-F7 back out to "fulfill his purpose" with no real consideration for what that purpose even WAS.

Yet that short lived experience left enough of an impact on Drift that literally a millenia down the line he desperately tries to get Ratchets approval. Approval that he seemingly never got to receive.

Drift "dying" like this would impact Ratchet a lot to the point it causes concern over whether he is actually capable of carrying on in his current role. The only reason he doesn't immediately get shipped off somewhere out of the way is Arcee's intervention who just asks for time to try and get Ratchet out of his funk. She herself is pretty badly effected by Drifts loss but also knows that letting it get in the way of their goal would render his sacrifice pointless.

I think she'd ultimately succeed, though internally its in large part because Ratchet feels he owes it to Drift. Never having properly apologized for the things he said early on in their relationship, or giving a proper degree of consideration for what effect his words must have had on him. He also decides to retire once it was all over.

Needless to say eventually learning Drift is still alive and in Decepticon custody changes Ratchets tune real quick.

There is something incredibly entertaining about the concept of adding Drift/Deadlock into any series that has Ratchet where he doesn’t normally appear.

In particular I’m imagining the tfa universe with Sari asking “Why is that decepticon looking at Ratchet funny?”

And all of the Autobots either

a). Do NOT know how to answer that question age appropriately.

b). Didn’t know about Deadlock either and Ratchet is not offering any information whatsoever.

Just the idea of this often times grumpy grandpa type character having a hitman and/or hippie deeply obsessed with him as an additional character dynamic

That's the thing because Deadlock/Drift does exist within TFA canon lol

That would be so fun to put Deadlock on Earth and watch his interactions with everyone though 😍😍😍

I think what would shock both TFP! OP and Bay! OP would be finding out how powerful TFA! OP is. He's the size of Bumblebee and managed to take down Megatron on their first meeting, while the other two spent centuries fighting him with only Bay! OP killing him very recently.

How I imagine Animated!team was after meeting Drift

Optimus: You are sparkboanded with an ex-Decepticon?! Ratchet: Okay, why are you all acting like that's such a shock? Bulkhead: It just, he seem to be a very skill swordman, but also a spiritual, positive and energetic person. Prowl: And you are, well, you. Bumblebee, in shock, on the ground rocking back and forward: I just... Is he blind? Suffering some form of processor damage?

Does dai atlas find out about Drifts "death"?

Yea.

It's spark crushing.

Not only has Dai Atlas been struggling to rebuild the cyber ninja dojo with Drift being his only real student, but Drift has also become almost like a precious little brother to him.

He'd make a real effort to pull through but I think everyone who knew him personally could tell that Drifts "death" just... Broke him.

The decepticons would be shocked just how effective Drift appearing to be dead would have on some of the autobots most powerful and influential figures.

Ironically might lend itself to why they keep him alive and imprisoned. Like that's a lot of leverage. Course he was also one of their most badass killers and Megs probably hopes he can get him back in the team. Or, failing that, saving him for a public execution to, y'know, keep the other decepticons from getting ideas.

I mean if nothing else it'll send a clear message of what happens to anyone who deserts.

But no yeah Dai Atlas will probably tear apart his personal quarters and then get depressed.
