RNG gave me 5 which is Brightside by Arrested Youth!

The song is about continuing (and/or trying real hard) to look on the bright side even when everything around you - including your own mental state - is going wrong.

In relation to Fox: He is a creature that tries to maintain a positive outlook on life - at least outwardly - even if things end up not going his way. He relies on luck to get him through his day and trusts that even if the dice is not rolled in his favor that he will still come out on top.

He is also ridden with guilt over past actions, and attempts to absolve himself through acts of charity which, either on purpose or on accident, result in him benefiting not just karmically but socially as well. He tries not to think about how his good deeds may not be as wholesome as he believes them to be, how he is just playing the good guy to get what he wants.

The song also represents the state of the world that he lives in, where Fables are in conflict with one another. The well-to-do continue to benefit from the laws and regulations put in place while those less fortunate either have to submit to being treated like animals and exiled from society or turn to darker means in order to sustain themselves, which in turn lead to exile or death. Fox, a thief, is in constant danger of becoming like most others around him.

TFTCTW AUs in order of how much development they have

RDR/Cowboy/Western AU (In the Company of Thieves) > About half(?) plotted out. Beginning, middle, and end all planned out in my head. Has art and several one-shots written for it. Probably gonna be written before the actual TFTCTW sequel. Witcher AU (Destiny-Bound [subject to change]) > Premise mostly solidified in my head, still subject to change. Scenes not concrete, beginning/middle/end not put in place. No real plot figured out yet, I just rotate this in my head a lot. Fox's backstory is the most concrete, Bigby's and Chessur's still being worked out. Modern AU (Rebound) > Similar to Destiny-Bound, nothing is really set in stone aside from a couple of scenes that work as the base that I will build upon and around, and what Fox and Bigby do for a living. This is more drama-sitcom style than anything without a true plot, though that may change once I sit down and turn it over in my head, or I get hit by inspiration and fall into a daze working on it. 40s AU (Title Pending) > Quite literally I only think about this AU once a year whenever Christmas roles around and my family watches White Christmas, and I turn it around in my head for about a week. Fox, Chess, and Bigby's professions, Fox and Bigby's backgrounds, and a base plot are all I have figured out so far. Not quite sure how this is going to work because I'm gonna have to extensively study the 40s and the noir genre to get it right. Bad Guys AU (Title Pending, might just settle for Bad Guys) > Not serious, likely not going to get much written for it if I'm gonna write anything at all. Literally a just-for-fun AU that I cooked up repeatedly listening to Other Side from the Greatest Showman soundtrack. Most that's gonna come out of this is an animatic and some art. King/Assassins AU (Title Pending) > Bigby is a king, Chess and Fox are assassins sent from a rival king to kill him, they end up failing and being discovered, and instead of having them killed Bigby hires them himself and they switch their loyalties to him. That's pretty much it. Similar to Bad Guys this one is just for fun and I don't expect to develop it much outside of some art. Pokemon AU (Title Pending) > All I have are teams and just basic backstories. Out of all of these, this is one that I'm positive isn't going to become anything. Just for fun.

After getting into a scuffle that ends with him getting punched in the face and knocked to the ground, Fox lays there until Bigby comes to help him up.

"Thought you said you could take a punch," the sheriff teases, standing over the fallen outlaw.

Fox, now more pissed off than before, responds, "Shut the hell up, Wolf." Later, after getting patched up, Bigby says, "Can't believe you'd risk that pretty face, partner." Fox, with a black eye and a bandage over his nose, glances over at the sheriff and smirks. "You think I'm pretty?" Bigby's face flushes pink, and he stammers out, "That's not what I said." Fox smugly walks away, calling over her shoulder, "Yes it was." (AKA more Western AU stuff, I'm gonna be posting a couple more backlogged stuff these next couple of weeks)
