First of all, I want to thank someone special in the Sherlock fandom - the remarkably talented podficcer extraordinaire @podfixx There isn't a day that goes by without that comforting voice weaving its way to my heart and core. Picking a favourite is almost impossible, because every single one is a gem. But, there is one I will promote a little extra on this romantic day.

miscellaneous disjointed gquuuuuuuuuuuuuuuux thoughts

-on the whole, it was a really enjoyable experience, although it’s debatable how much of that was sustained by the seeing-it-in-theaters aspect

-(i say that mostly because a lot of my thoughts probably sound harsher than my actual feelings)

-the editing in general was pretty awkward, in more than the usual “tv episodes stitched into a movie” kind of way

-the whole first half felt like a very rapid highlight reel of the (alternate) OYW, which makes me wonder if it’s going to be broken up in the actual show as flashbacks

-speaking of which, it was very clear that the first half was basically hideaki anno’s indulgent what-if fanfic for 0079 - i don’t mean this in a bad way, but the amount of name drops and deep cuts had strong “written by and for hardcore gundam nerds” energy to the point where i imagine it must be pretty incomprehensible to people who aren’t said hardcore nerds

-which makes the general tone shift in the second half feel a bit jarring - it definitely gave the impression that sunrise/bandai wanted to lean in on the khara talent to create something different that would attract new audiences, while the khara folks were so excited to be working with UC gundam that they went all-in on the deep cuts, creating something that’s too unconventional for gundam purists but too granular for newcomers

-i like that amate carried on the grand kamille tradition of “weird kid using hijacked mobile suit to antagonize cops”

-i’m also glad that the positive reception to suletta mercury appears to have paved the way for the next generation of weird girl protagonists

-g-kwucks???

-the yamashita mobile suit designs definitely look way better in motion than the kits and lineart suggested

-giving the zakus spherical ass cheeks like a jerma edit was a choice, though

-i really hope that people are too focused on the char/challia homoeroticism to get into annoying ship wars over the main trio, but i’m not holding my breath

-as jarring as they look paired directly with the 0079 designs, take’s character designs feel like a really good fit for the whole khara/gainax aesthetic

-on the whole, while i don’t know how much it works as a standalone movie, i’m in that venn diagram intersection of “gundam nerd” and “gainax enjoyer” so i had a good time and i’m interested to see how this pans out

Resilient

Happy international woman’s day! Baru aja kemarin ku apdet di stori cerita kalau aku selalu berdoa buat teman-teman/sodaraku yang I care about kalau mereka hamil supaya anaknya laki-laki karena being women susah banget. It definitely will get better (i.e., kondisi wanita di 2025 sudah JAUH lebih baik dibandingkan di 1800-an misalnya, and so wanita in 2225 hopely will fare better than us now). Tapi iya daripada kasihan ngelahirin anak yang masih harus struggle dengan kekejaman men’s world, apa nggak lebih baik dan mudah untuk mereka membesarkan anak laki-laki aja. Betul-betul pemikiran jahiliyah but that’s what I think about for now as a woman, though. It’s just my opinion.

Terus tentu saja ada yang reply (orang yang punya anak perempuan tentu saja): “tapi enak loh Non raising anak perempuan tuh mudah karena mereka lebih strong, lebih resilient, cowok soalnya ga bisa multitask, cowok super specialist while girls we can do both being generalists and specialists too, nanti Noni ngerasain deh kalau udah punya nikah terus punya anak”. Pertama-tama, walaupun aku belum menikah aku cukup tahu sedikit banyak gimana “cowok” bekerja karena lingkunganku dari SMA, kuliah (S1, S2, S3), sampai sekarang kerja pun amat sangat saturated dengan “cowok” (aku satu-satunya dosen aktif perempuan di prodiku sekarang), jadi kurasa nggak perlu menikah dan punya anak dulu untuk tahu how men work… Kedua, what she said is EXACTLY my point! Being woman is so tough and hard BECAUSE naturally we are SO strong, SO resilient, we PERSEVERE so much because the society expected us to! Bahkan si teman aku ini aja sebagai ibu udah mikir “oh Alhamdulillah anak gw cewek, gampang ngeraisenya, udah pinter sendiri, dilepas dikit bisa tanggungjawab sendiri, gw gausah pusing2 ngajarin dia A-Z”.

Kepada teman ini kujawab: “Iya benar! Tapi semoga nanti dia berani bilang gakuat kalau emang gakuat ya, intinya tetap ingetin kalau dia nggak harus be strong and be resilient all the time. Kasian soalnya kalau dia keep everything to herself nanti dia burnout dan depresi terus nyembuhinnya susah. Aku gitu soalnya hehe. Meanwhile aku jarang banget punya teman yang ngalamin yang aku alami ini (mungkin circle cowokku aja yang kurang luas).”

Btw post ini by no means mengecilkan effort raising boys atau bilang kalau being men itu lebih gampang dari being women yah. Pasti ada strugglenya sendiri juga. Cuma if you are being raised in an environment that was specifically built for you, you definitely don’t need to be strong, to be resilient, to persevere. And that is exactly why men can flourish, they are not always in the survival mode like us women, they grow, while we are trying to not be dead. The big question is then: can we make a world where no one needs to be strong, to be resilient, to persevere??? A world where both men and women can grow and flourish together??? Only God knows when (or if).

Btw sejak ku mikir kaya yang di atas, sekarang nouns kaya “perseverance”, “resilience”, atau adjectives kaya “strong”, “brave”, aku sebel banget bacanya. They used to be very good positive words until I realize “iya juga ya kenapa dah harus persevere, emangnya gabisa apa environmentnya yang dibuat comfortable aja. Cape banget”. Kayak… we definitely should celebrate individuals who made it in these places (because of their perseverance, resilience, strength, and bravery), but why did these harsh environments exist in the first place? Can’t we just improve and repair the system instead of naroh the responsibility in the individuals??? (Noni being super-idealistic moment).

Anyways, iya udah sih mau ngeluhin itu aja.

Tadinya mau bikin post judulnya Blekping karena Jennie baru aja release Ruby dan WHAT. A. MASTERPIECE. Ku awalnya mau nulis gimana each member of Blackpink now is FLOURISHING sejak keluar dari YG and how this whole story is giving women getting out of toxic relationships. These women are so powerful and talented, yet under such a big management company, they were very very restricted. They shined, but barely. Well, tentu saja solo mereka bisa se… gede sekarang thanks to their successful years in YG, tapi ku bersyukur sekali setelah sekian lama, mereka akhirnya mikir: yaudah ngapain stay di tempat yang gabisa appreciate mereka lagi. Kayak “ok thanks for all the lessons and experiences, now it’s time for me to fly on my own, on these unused gorgeous wings I’ve grown”.

I’m so proud of the girls. I am personally not a girl group lover, but I’m a sucker for good music, and Blackpink (with Teddy as their producer) actually almost always never missed (there are some songs that was a disaster, e.g., Shutdown, but their other hits were actually fire).

Mau cerita, ini aku gak apa-apa, kah?

Dulu pernah ikut talent mapping, hasilnya sifat dasarku adalah hati-hati. Bagus sih, tapi jadi susah ngambil keputusan hehe.

Selain hati-hati, aku juga gak teledor, jarang lupa dengan urusanku, hampir gak pernah lupa sama janji.

Kemarin, mau berangkat kerja biasa ngunci pintu. Qadarullah hari itu entah pikiranku kemana, pintu sudah aku kunci tapi lupa dicabut. Seharian kunci nyangkol di pintu. Alhamdulillah masih Allah jaga.

Aku kenapa?

Entahlah ... Terkadang aku merasa baik-baik saja. Tapi sekarang lebih sering menanyakan hatiku, mencari kejujuran dari hati yang paling dalam. Lantas kutemukan jawaban bahwa aku tidak baik-baik saja.

Lebih banyak memendam perasaan, banyak yang disembunyikan, bingung dengan hidup yang akarnya tadi; aku amat berhati-hati.

Susah mengambil keputusan karena gak mau dengan risiko yang akan dihadapi. Akhirnya lebih milih buat cari aman. Justru cari aman ini gak selamanya aman. Malah sering menjadi bom waktu yang bisa meledak kapan saja.

20 ke 30

Jika boleh dibuat recap, aku tuh menghabiskan usia 20an ku untuk apa aja sih?

20 : Aku memutuskan untuk pindah kuliah dari UIN ke UI atas hasutan @ihkamaufar gak deng, itu mah cuman eksaserbasi aja. Karena aku ngerasa bisa lebih ikutan banyak kegiatan ekstrakulikuler kalau di UI. Duh sebenernya pindah kuliah itu adalah tutorial mempersulit hidup soalnya aku jadi mundur 2 tahun kuliahnya, padahal di UIN aja udah telat setahun

21 : Aku mulai berani untuk menginisiasi proyek sosialku yang pada mulanya adalah sambutan gayung oleh Bapak Panji, atas ideku untuk membuka Istana Belajar Anak Banten chapter Tangerang Selatan. Kemudian setelah 1 tahun, aku dapet kesempatan bootcamp bikin social project, yaudah disitu mulai serius di isu kesehatan dan sanitasi bareng-bareng temen Emcekaqu

22 : Oh tidak, aku tiba-tiba kepikiran perilaku anomaliku yang suka pushing away people kalau mau serius kenalan sama aku. Dan perjalanan membasuh luka pengasuhan dimulai dari sini. Akhirnya membuka kotak pandora yang kututup rapat-rapat, dan disini aku beneran malfunction, setiap diajak ikut acara apapun aku selalu bilang sakit. Ya, mentalku yang sakit. Tapi nggak tau kenapa, pada suatu malam aku pernah gak bisa tidur, begadang sampe jam 4 pagi untuk apply fellowship ke Belgia dan alhamdulillah keterima. Mungkin hiburan dari Allah biar aku gak sedih terus.

Ohiya aku juga disini ikutan pelatnas FIM, terus berdrama kunci kamar dengan salah satu panitia yang ternyata adalah kakak alumni RK yg aku gosipin ke temenku eh ternyata si kakak alumni itu jd suamiku. mohon maaf kak mogi 🙏

23 : Akhirnya lulus dari Rumah Kepemimpinan yang sangat menguji fisik dan mental. Terus di tahun ini tuh aku dapet fellowship ke Amerika (Setelah 5x nyoba), awalnya izinku gak di acc sama bagian kemahasiswaan karena ada praktikum yang kehadiran harus 100%, ya menurut lo?? masa lebih milih praktikum daripada fellowship???!! cuss berangkat, walaupun konsekuensinya harus nambah satu semester. (Untung dah tobat u FIK UI).

24 : Tahun yang cukup berat karena temen-temeku semua udah lulus dan aku belum :( ngapa kuliah susah amat sih yaAllah. Tapi nggak pernah kepikiran yg kaya “YaAllah puyeng bgt kuliah mo nikah aja” Eh ternyata di akhir tahun ini aku nikah sama kak mogi 🫵 dan di tahun ini walaupun temen-temenku udah pada skripsian, aku mulai berkiprah secara profesional di Ashoka Indonesia dan juga NICE Indonesia (oh tentu saja bkn di bidang keperawatan 😬)

25 : Bukan galau karena quarter life crisis tapi galau karena tadinya nggak mau lanjut profesi ners krn ngerasa gak passion, eh anakku meninggal jadi daripada nggak ada kegiatan yaudah sekolag lagi aja deh 🙏 yg biasanya ke psikolog karena ngurusin inner child-ku sekarang harus ke psikolog buat pulihin diri dari trauma kontraksi melahirkan dan berduka karena anakku meninggal. 26 : tidak ingin menyerah dengan ketakutanku, akhirnya aku berjalan sama Doula untuk mempersiapkan kelahiranku. My life has change forever, aku menjadi seorang ibu. Terjadi krisis identitas yang cukup parah, untung aku ketemu sama Apik dan Zahra waktu aku di Yogyakarta. Aku banyak cerita dan mengamati mereka sebagai seorang ibu. Aku ikutan talents mapping dan menemukan kembali diriku.

27 : Aku banyak mengamati dan membantu tipis-tipis suamiku yang sedang S2, aku jadi kepengen juga. Tapi sebelum itu, aku mencoba mengutilisasi ilmuku sebagai seorang ners dengan mengambil sertifikasi konselor menyusui. Menjadi konselor menyusui ini juga karena pengalamanku dibantu oleh konselor saat anakku meninggal dan saat anakku keduaku tongue tie dan lip tie.

28 : Aku memberanikan diri untuk daftar beasiswa S2 setelah banyak ngobrol sama temen, mentor, coach untuk mencari WHY dan jurusan yang tepat. Alhamdulillah keterima! Sangat tidak menyangka soalnya gak pernah nge-plan utk ke Australia. Dan ternyata living my dream tinggal di luar negeri bareng sama keluarga, isinya banyak nangisnya juga, soalnya ketinggian ekspektasinya 🙏

29 : Udah gak pengen punya GPA cumlaude, lulus aja udh alhamdulillah dari Univ terbaik ke 13 di dunia ini. Tapi walaupun nilai pada jelek, kegiatan ekstrakulikuler tetep jalan : ikutan riset, conference, MUN simulation, kerja part time di indo dan Melb. Dan setelah aku pikir, akutuh ternyata suka banget dengan privilege titel student-ku yg bisa ngebuat aku explore banyak hal wkwk walau sambil nangis karena ttp harus sambil ngurus anak dan rumah

30 : Aku masih bolak-balik ke psikolog untuk berdamai sama masa kecilku. Aku dapet PoV baru karena aku ke psikolog kampus yg punya latar belakang jauh berbeda. Di usia 30 ini aku berharap, semoga aku selalu percaya sama kasih sayang Allah dan kasih sayang orang di sekitarku apalagi orangtua, suami dan anakku. Semoga di tahun2 mendatang, walau tantangan datang menerjang, keimanan dan keislaman akan selalu jadi pegangan.

El Cid uproots his Camp again and travels to the City of Olivienza, south of the bou of Batalyaws. There, he visits the local Weaponsmith Nuzha Wazirid who offers him the wares she has on display - Andalusian Mace, Nuzha's Dagger and Wazirid Spear. El Cid selects and purchases the Wazirid Spear, a Masterwork Weapon that gives +7 Prowess and +6% Knight Effectiveness.

Another reason for traveling to Olivienza is to take up the Arbitration contract with Na'ib Yaghmurasen of Olivienza, the City's Muslim Mayor, who needs help with arbitrating the splitting of horse grazing land. The Loyal Vassals split the land fairly and well amongst the local magnates, thanks to their knowledge on horses.

After excelling in the contract for Na'ib Yaghmurasen, El Cid uses his weak hook on him to garner another contract - this time an "Eager Explorer Contract" which is a travel escort mission. Na'ib Yaghmurasen wishes to travel to A Corunna in Galicia where the Farum Brigantium is. El Cid makes preparations to travel with the Na'ib and his Caravan Master Martin.

Along the way while he is travelling, El Cid receives a Blackmail letter from Mayor Alfontso of Tafalla, the Spymaster of King Antso IV of Navarre, who threatens to reveal El Cid's relationship with Ximena de Oviedo. In order to protect his Ximena (who is the Personal Physician of King Sancho of Castille) from going to Prison for being an adulterer, El Cid decides to give the Weak Hook to Mayor Alfontso.

While on the way back to Olivienza, journeying through Porto, El Cid encounters a Galician Wise Man by the name of Lucidio de Moscoso who offers him a "reading" of his future travels. El Cid rejects the offer politely by counter-offering him to "Come experience the future with me". This is fortuitous, as Lucidio makes a reliable knight with 10 Prowess, not to mention a good back-up Personal Physician should Najat die.

As a practising Catholic, El Cid prays at the alter for God's Mercy and also that the hardened heart of King Sancho softens that he may remember his love for El Cid.

El Cid moves his Camp to the southernmost tip of Iberia - Tarifa where a mosque stands. In the mosque he encounters a Muslim nun (? is this even historical?) by the name of sister Amat al-Wahhab. Since El Cid is not Muslim but Catholic, he decides against donating, asking for a blessing or stealing any donations there, but takes just a customary look around and departs.

El Cid takes the "Stand With Us" mercenary contract from Wali Qasim ibn Muhammad of Muluya, requiring him to aid as a defender in the Marrakeshi Conquest of the Wilayah of Muluya.

Finally on 5th December 1068, King Sancho II "the Strong" of Castille, visits El Cid's Camp to restore El Cid's honour and grant him pardon. Although the offer of becoming King Sancho's loyal vassal is very tempting, El Cid ultimately decides that he wants to continue adventuring with The Loyal Vassals as he has still so much to see and do as an Adventurer.

Meanwhile, El Cid had tried his best to befriend his former Bodyguard, the talented Vela, but to no avail - Vela remained on very good terms with El Cid, but that was it. It seems Vela will not be joining back with The Loyal Vassals. My head canon is that Vela was so traumatised by the death of his lover the Beautiful Guiomar, that he does not want to remember by going back.

We conclude today's play-through with the "Mio Cid" achievement - only 0.2% of players have this achievement. This is gotten by choosing all the remaining Loyal to King Sancho options during the game's scripted events for El Cid.

Paper Supply

The case that's always at her hip has approx. 550 sheets of printer paper in it at the start of a mission. (When they have extremely limited resources pre-Wandering Sea arrival, this amount begins to dwindle until she's out halfway through LB2. That triggers a whole breakdown but that's a story for another day.)

Prior to Orleans, her magecraft could only go so far in reinforcing the paper to be durable against water and retardant against flame. If the paper is damaged before she can apply magecraft, she is shit out of luck.

Da Vinci begins providing her with perfectly fireproof and waterproof paper after fires in Fuyuki screwed Macha over. ("I wondered what that case you asked me to make was for! Why didn't you also ask me to enchant the printer paper you stole? I'm a genius, you know?")

Paper Magecraft (Papercraft) Capabilities

Macha is well-versed in reinforcing and altering paper and paper-related products (papyrus, amate; also including some other things made from plant fiber like cardboard and filters). Their structures are so inherently understood to her that she doesn't have to think about them when changing them. Fibrous structures could in theory become her overall speciality with training, but perhaps due to a strange side effect of her family's Thaumaturgical Attribute ("Obsession"), she stubbornly always tries to stick to paper.

With the listed products, Macha can:

Fold it any way she likes

Extend the fibers to a certain degree

Overlap fibers to fuse pieces together

Sharpen them until they cut like a blade

Make the fibers strong enough to stop bullets

In the same vein, apply a degree of waterproof and flame retardant properties to paper that does not already have these qualities (if she obtains such types of paper she can push the quality to a higher degree as well)

Control paper she's already modified from short distances

She can apply these capabilities to many different things. Because she often makes things out of paper using her magecraft, she calls her own talent "papercrafting". In addition to all of this, she can recreate a lot of things she sees with paper, as she spent 20 years of her life doing exactly that ad nauseum.

When it comes to measuring the paper amount required for a given craft in writing, printer paper is used as the standard; in other words, "guess how much is needed when one material is a head tall and thin". The more thickness+surface area = more paper needed. The larger a craft, the more magical energy she needs as well. A paper recreation of herself would take two and a half Machas worth of energy as a standard.

Paper can be reused as long as it is not heavily damaged and is safely returned to her case.

Magus Stats and Magecraft Knowledge

Both her Origin and Element are Paper. This is caused by the aforementioned Thaumaturgical Attribute, which enables mages of the Schmied lineage to have their Element be their Origin from birth. They will also deeply and inherently understand the qualities of things connected to their Origin, and any magecraft related to it will require significantly less preparation to pull off (in many cases only necessary materials are required).

Her Circuit quantity is average, quality slightly above average—a second-rate magus. She can support many Servants on her own, but backup is required from Chaldea to bring out the best of some. Of course in any case a Command Spell will always be what will bring out a Servant's full might.

She primarily relies on her papercraft. Until Tanya properly taught her before Septem, Macha didn't even know how to use her Command Spells and Mystic Codes. (This is mostly excused by Macha being omitted from a lot of basic civilian training due to Romani prioritizing treating her mental & physical ailments in time for her to be reasonably ready for the second Rayshift experiment.)

She also struggles with Shadow Servant summoning until America, where she's basically forced to use Shadows anyways because she's Servant-less for a significant period of time.

It's not until Camelot that she begins to fully understand the range of potential both the Command Spells and MCs have. By the Lostbelts she's started trying out other magecraft, particularly anything that gives her advantages in combat.

In Combat

Macha is the most confrontational Master in the team (prior to her even more confrontational little brother joining). While she has enough sense to delegate most Servant fights to her own Servants, she will often get directly involved in many monster and human battles of her own initiative. Even when relying on a Servant, she will provide offensive backup when the opportunity presents itself.

She likes to fashion her paper into rudimentary swords or throw sharpened pieces at enemies like throwing knives. She is strangely well-versed in the ways of killing humans through cutting and slashing. Macha has trouble with people with more combat experience than her...in the beginning, at least. Over time is a different story...

She can block unenchanted physical weapons of human make with her paper on her own by making shields on the fly. Defense against enchanted weapons and spiritual attacks requires backup from a Servant like Medea, and even with such backup, defense against divine constructs or any blows from a Noble Phantasm are extremely difficult if not outright impossible. Even daring to try and defend from a Servant's punch like this could seriously injure or kill her.

This all is not to say that she deliberately gets into fights, however. She actually tries to mitigate the amount of battle encounters the team has through careful planning, and is all for eliminating potential threats before they're actualized. Since she's usually trying to do this alone without anyone noticing, this won't always work. Sometimes she won't even be honest with her intentions with her own comrades on impulse. She's only honest about her plans with her Servants. ("our insane master is plotting something utterly off the rails again" - macha's servants; "LMFAO" - archer (oda nobunaga) (macha's servant))
