As much as I love Immortal Jason being flippant about his deaths while his family sobs in the background, the opposite could also be fun!

Let's be real. This is a family of Bats. Who put their lives at risk and have to contemplate acceptable sacrifices all the time. And love shutting away their emotions to retreat into cold, logical, ruthless planners, desperate to minimize casualities.

And well, if Jason comes back, is it a death?

and honestly when we think about the narrative, I find that you chain each other far more fascinating, you know what I mean?

there is for sure a certain intrigue about being an all knowing being and I enjoy those fandom discussions as well. I said yesterday in a different post that the narrative including the "player" is in itself worthy of its own discussion and is a great interpretation of the story.

but in terms of narrative enjoyment, I personally think that the divisiveness and inherent equality of Kris and the soul makes for a far more interesting and gut-wrenching story.

if we take the player outside of it and consider the soul an in-universe character that got unceremoniously shoved into a random person and told their choices don't matter, it becomes a lot easier to see the intrigue. how far can the soul push Kris? how far can Kris push the soul?

when we consider the story from this angle, it becomes a much different narrative, one where the Kris has the soul caged and the soul cages Kris. it's fascinating; in chapter one, no matter if it's kind or cruel to everyone, the soul is thrown into a birdcage and only released to be shoved back inside the cage that is Kris.

when you think about a soul that thought it would be allowed its own body, mind, family and life, it almost feels just as unfair. they are at the whim of Kris, and Kris needs them.

it just has such a potential for an amazing grey-area story that I just can't see the "player is the soul and the soul is all-knowing all-powerful" narrative delivering.

I think a lot of people in the fandom overestimate A LOT how powerful we are as a soul, like we are some kind of eldritch monster which is far from the truth ( at least in the normal route).

The soul is actually so weak outside of a body that Kris can subjugate us with no problem whatsoever and have full control of us, there isn't even one instance in the normal route where we take control of them without their consent and the second they don't view us as useful they can just throw us out of their body (despite looking like a painful process).

Even when we're controlling Kris body they have much more agency than they are given credit for, for example when you are trying to ask Noelle for information they will purposely ask the question without any context so she doesn't understand it, if you're too rude to ralsei they will change the wording of what we were going to say to change the context of it. They're only giving us the illusion that we're in control when in reality they have the upper hand most of the time and are only using the soul to help in whatever agenda they have( they also might need us to keep themself alive). As of right now everyone aware of the soul sees us not as sentient beings with emotions but as a tool used to further their own goals.

As far as we know the only moments that the soul is truly a force to be afraid of is inside the dark world where we are the only known entity that can close dark fountains and even destroy Titans, which is most likely part of the reason we are so important (even to Carol/ the knight) to have around even if we are basically going against their plans.

No because. I know everyone's been posting about it but. The monstrosity trailer. And that first scene between Kai and Lloyd in dr. That Kai curls up defensively and lets Lloyd hit him. And the only reason it stops is because Lloyd recognised him. He doesn't bother to look at the face of his attacker, he doesn't want to deal with the pain anymore- he's just going to take it. Take it until it stops because he's tired of fighting. He finally found some semblance of familiarity and their first instinct is to attack him. Maybe he was the monster all along.

This genuinely has so much angst potential & I could talk about how each of the hedgehog's could at first believe that they're merely hallucinating at the moment because there's no way you're still alive— You can't be alive— & yet here you are, standing right in front of them, just as pretty & as charming as they remember, though you are covered head to toe in blood but they won't focus on that right now. How a silent laugh or a sudden cackle rises from their throats as their finger or hand or arm twitch to go & touch you, to feel you— Maybe, just maybe, you are here...

How Sonic immediately dashes to you at such speed that you barely process his foot initially lifting to him pressed against you, hands clutching you so hard you're incapable of moving if you tried. How his mouth— Just like his feet— move without pause nor end, each phrase & word blending & bluring into each other at such rapid speed you'd assume he'd just created a new language. How he claims he's sorry for not being there for you, not being there to protect you— But that's okay! He's here now, you're here now & he promises to never allow it to happen again, he swears!

How Shadow just stands there, staring— Almost contemplating about what he's seeing, is his mind playing tricks on him? Is he so lost in his grief & mourning for you that he's imagining you right there? Right here? Right now? How when you call his name— Whether in confusion or in calm delight, it doesn't matter— He's right here infront of you, a few feet away at first, then a few inches & now holding your wrist up to his face. How he slowly rubs his thumb in circles on your skin, your warmth radiating through his glove & into his palm. How he raises your hand closer to his face until you feel his breath hit against & through your fingers. How he presses his lips against your knuckles & just leaves them there for a while & you swear you see tears build in his eyes. How you feel him mumble against your knuckles, though what he says you don't understand, & that's fine, you don't need to comprehend him saying how he'll ensure you never leave him through death again.

How Silver appears stunned in his spot, but just as quick as he froze, his now tackled you to the ground. How his embrace is so hard— So tight— You feel like you can't breathe, you feel like you can't talk because of the lack of oxygen. How after softening his grip & you mutely gasp for fresh air in your lungs do you see the tears in his eyes, rolled down his cheeks & dripping off his chin slightly damping you clothes. How he can't seem to help himself & just peppers your face in kisses, equally as soft & swift as the last. How he's so glad you're here with him! How you'll never leave him again & he can't wait to spend more time with you, how he promises to protect you at all costs, even if it costs him his life, so be it! As long as you're here with him, it doesn't matter.

EAPS THEORY: Solar Flare and F.C. will kill Rusty/Ruin's Monty

Allow me to explain why I think this...

After today's episode of EAPS, it's clear that Rusty is a point of contention for everyone and with the reveal that the reason Charlie turned Eclipse into a baby was cause Ruin, (I assumed) asked her to turn Eclipse into a baby to buy himself more time to find a way to save Rusty practically dooming everyone else just to save one guy.

Look, I get that Ruin wants to save Rusty, I want him to save him too, but if they can't, they HAVE to put him down. They have to get rid of the virus. Eclipse's plan will work, but Ruin won't let them use it cause Rusty will die.

They maybe have two months before the virus completely takes over, maybe one in Eclipse's case, but everyone's lives are at stake!

And Ruin...

Doesn't care! Or he cares but is too blinded by love to think of the consequences.

So, we have

-A virus that will drive them all insane in two months

-Ruin sabotaging Eclipse practically dooming everyone

-Ruin's cure not working

-And Eclipse is so close to crashing out it's scary.

So, what are they to do?

Simple...

Kill Rusty.

If they get rid of Rusty, they can use Eclipse's cure without hurting Rusty cause he'll already be dead 😃

Solar Flare has already taken on Rusty and maybe would have won if not for Ruin getting in his way.

F.C. is hunting down Rusty.

The two should team up to take down Rusty behind Ruin and Eclipse's back. The team is torn and cannibalizing themselves cause of Rusty's presence.

(Heck, that's probably what Afton wants)

And Solar Flare is the most logical person on the team. He sees Rusty as a variable, and he's a variable that needs to be removed.

Solar Flare knows how to fight.

F.C. probably does too.

Rusty is old and... rusty, he can't take them both.

Solar Flare and F.C. will kill Rusty to remove the variable so Eclipse can use his cure, and they'll all be saved.

Yes, it will hurt Ruin.

Yes, it's not a perfect solution.

But it's the only solution.

I can see Ruin yelling at Solar Flare saying, "Why?! Why did you do that?!"

And Solar Flare responding, "Your love for your Monty blinded you. You had Charlie turn Eclipse into a baby to buy time for your cure. We need one now. We couldn't have waited. Your love for your Monty would have doomed us."

Ruin, pushing past Solar Flare, "At least I know how to love! Unlike you... infernal machine."

Cue sadness.

No matter the outcome...

No one is gonna be happy here.

But hey, that's just a theory...
