Good morning, my dear!
For me is morning, so, I apologize for not using the usually "hey" but I thought that you got tierd of it ;)
Also, I want to ask you something: do you believe that Mary didn't want to kill Sherlock?
I, actually, I don't think so, but others just believe in it. I just want your opinion.
Hugs from all johnlock fans🤗
Hey Nonny!
Never stop saying "hey", LOL. It's my "signature" opening to all my asks, so literally I can't talk hahahah.
That said, if you're familiar with my content of days past, you'll know that I ABSOLUTELY believe that Mary was trying to kill Sherlock because he found her out and wanted to protect that from John. I wrote meta about it post-S3:
Mary Meant to Kill Sherlock
She Went to Finish the Job
“I Swear I’ll Kill You”
Sherlock Died!
Why Did She Kill Him if She Meant to Keep Him Alive?
Mary Chose the Chest Over the Head to Delay John
Law Student: Magistrate Says She Killed Him
Sherlock Would Have Been Dead (Plus Face Journey)
She Shot Him in the Chest
“Three Times We Tried to Kill You”
He Literally Almost Died. Why Did He Lie to John?
Why Do People Think [Sherlock and Mary are] Friends?
Sherlock is Scared of Mary
No, Really, He’s Terrified of Her
Sherlock Did Not Forgive Mary
Sherlock Doesn’t Like Mary
I genuinely don't see HOW the narrative supports "an accident". She tried to kill him. The only reason he's still alive is because of his love for John.
So yeah, all those meta are my opinion on the matter, LOL LOL. They're old, but my belief still stands firm, even with S4 in the picture. I hope you find some comfort in those meta as well :)
Thank you for your hugs and your ask! <3

Whether you feel what Shauna did to Mari holds racial implications or not, it's not your place to harass or belittle poc fans of the show for feeling this way, dismissing how that scene made them feel. While the writers were very tone deaf and probably didn't understand the implications behind that scene, it still doesn't matter when it's coupled with how many times the show has done all their poc characters dirty. Telling poc fans that, after watching a brown girl be butchered without dignity, different from her counterparts, and have her hair taken as a trophy by a yte girl who has been antagonizing her so aggressively, they shouldn't feel uncomfortable by that or that they should just accept it because "violence is the show" is very disingenuous and misses the point. Especially when factoring how these same Shauna defenders will get up in arms for other fans wishing for her end, coming up with all the reasons why she should make it out, even though, in some of their words, "violence is the show."

Hi! Thank you for being here for all of our crazy Johnlock questions and fic recs! ❤️❤️ I've read some of the best stories ever that were your recommendations! 😊
Anyway, I have a really dumb question that I haven't really thought about before and though I maybe you would know the answer or can point me towards a meta or another author who might have an explanation, if there even is one lol!
What is the scene with John and Mary supposed to mean, when he says he's taking Mary and leaving and then he corrects himself and says Mary is taking him? Is it just to show how she was in charge of John? Or something mundane like it's because John can't drive lol? I don't know why I started thinking about it, but now I'm kind of fixated on it 🤦🏼‍♀️.
Thanks for any insight!!
Hi Nonny!
Never a dumb question here! That's the best part of this community, because I'm not always going to have the answer but someone else usually does, hahahh!
Okay, so MY PERSONAL INTERPRETATION of it is that I believe this is one of the only modern scenes in TAB that is part of the mind palace fever dream, as I believe that it's about Sherlock realizing his love for John; just the sudden abruptness of it being the only modern scene off of the Tarmac (if I remember correctly; I used to watch this episode ENDLESSLY, I LOVED writing meta about it) makes me think that Sherlock is trying to still work through Some Things™ (that meta linked talks a bit more about my interpretation of the Graveyard Scene as a whole and I hope you'll read it!).
That said, because I feel it's Not Real™, I am interpreting it as Sherlock realizing how much control over John's life Mary actually has, how trapped John is, and how Sherlock himself feels bitter about Mary being the asshole she is and rubbing it in Sherlock's face CONSTANTLY that John is hers (seriously, ALL of Season 3 is just Mary being a petty poop and parade-marching John around Sherlock every chance she gets to advertise that she "won" John. John is nothing but a trophy to her). He's jealous and petty in his own way, and we see all through TAB that Mary, in his mind, is painted as deeply unpleasant and a nuisance that Sherlock tolerates for John's sake.
So yeah, for me it's nothing more than Sherlock, in his mind, actually REALLY doesn't like Mary at all, which is why S4 is such a friggin' U-turn for me because they absolutely despised each other before S4.
If anyone has any additional thoughts, please let us know!
I hope my interpretation is interesting to you <3

When other Yellowjackets fans, majority who are poc themselves, talk about how weird and frustrating it is that the writers introduced a random yte character and gave them a storyline when there were two (technically three but they killed off Lottie even when there was an opportunity for more) woc, who have been around since s1, that could've fit the mold instead (like Mari) and have actual personalities outside of building up/being the lapdog for another character. Or how often times many of the, limited, poc characters are often either treated poorly and killed off, or pushed to the side (Simone, reduced to the disposable black girlfriend trope and is nearly killed by her partner because she's in the way of a ship; Travis, since s1, had his trauma dismissed or ignored and was overly hated but no one talks about how he was SA'd by the girls he's now stuck with on top of having to eat his brother and not be able to grieve over it). How Taissa's whole storyline is just revolving around Van even with all the potential, especially given she's fighting to be free from her own mind, how Lottie's mental illness is treated so poorly as if it's not the butt of a joke then it's met with heavy criticism (and the only time she is met with sympathy for it, it's through the lens of a yte character embodying her and having an emotional conversation with her father). How you can have all of these reasons (and more) for being annoyed by Melissa's character or the direction of the show, and be met with #those fans downplaying these concerns, or just being overly antagonistic just because they find yte character #243 entertaining so obviously these conversations don't have merit. But this fandom has always had an...."interesting" way in which it discussed the poc characters on the show, so I'm not surprised.
#yellowjackets#yellowjackets critical#mind u in the og script lottie was a black girl who had to suffer racial abuse from an old rich yte woman that she never recovered from...#like tai has a premise for such interesting storylines (that don't revolve around yte characters) and the show still does her dirty#and even regarding her relationship why would tai be so dismissive of her family over van? why is there hardly any shaunatai scenes?#a yte woman's introduction to the show being her potentially killing an indigenous woman struggling with mental illness and only for said#woc's death to be discovered through a true crime forum and used for a competition between two yte characters....yeah there's no problem at#all there#like so much of melissa's character feels at the expense of woc who were already established and had more to show for it than her#and it gets so annoying seeing those fans try to skirt around the problem or speak over poc fans when called out#like why does mari receive such hate or lack of understanding in comparison to yte counterparts who do worse than her? i thought the yjs#shouldn't be judged heavily bc they're teenagers going through the unimaginable? or is that mindset not shared with woc?#and im not even getting into how the plot is all over the plsce#like why is the teen timeline (where most of them are going to die) more diverse than the adult? and adding another yte character was#supposed to do what?#lottie matthews#taissa turner#like so much of s1 was about shauna heck even some parts of s2 so i thought maybe s3 would be tai's. nope#yellowjackets spoilers
