I never actually explained my ideas for Yuzu interacting with Mandarin in my AU, so I feel like now would be the best time to talk about some details.

My idea for their relationship is that in my AU, Mandarin is still alive and is brought back to Shuggazoom by Yuzu herself. She conceives him to come back with her after telling him that Skeleton King is now dead and Shuggazoom is finally safe from him. I think I’ve stated it a while ago that in this AU, Skeleton King is fully defeated and is no longer a major threat to the world. The only enemies the Hyperforce now face are enemies besides Skeleton King, threats from Shuggazoom itself, and old followers of the Skeleton King scattered here and there.

Yuzu tells Mandarin that she insisted to the team that he still had to be alive after Skelemandarin was killed along with Skeleton King. She used the Power Primate to seek him out and found him imprisoned and abandoned, unaware of the changes that happened to the outside world. She explained to him that she wanted to find him and bring him back home with her, and back to Antauri. When Skelemandarin was killed, most of Hyperforce didn’t believe that Mandarin was actually still alive. Antauri themself was hesitant to believe that Mandarin was somehow still alive.

But Yuzu told her dad that she found him and that she was going to bring him back to them. Antauri was hesitant at first to let their daughter go off on this retrieval mission alone. But they knew that even they told her not to, she would be too stubborn to take no for answer and go after him anyway. So, on her own, she went searching for her bàba, not telling the rest of the team what her plan was. The team wouldn’t realize that Yuzu left on her to retrieve her bàba until Antauri had to explain to them her absence.

Mandarin at first, refused his daughter’s chance to return back to Shuggazoom. After everything he’s done to them, after everything he’s done to her, why would she be willing to give him a chance. But Yuzu explained to him that Antauri once said to him it wasn’t too late for him, that even they were willing to give him a chance to start over. She told him that having to send him away broke Antauri. They grieved for him after his imprisonment. That having to raise their daughter alone was the greatest pain they ever experienced. Yuzu tells her baba that Antauri still misses them. That she misses him even though she never met him until after he reawakened from the HOOP. She wants her bàba to be a part in her life.

Mandarin retorts that even if he agreed to come back with her, the rest of the Hyperforce won’t agree with it. But Yuzu persists, telling him that if the rest team has a problem with it, then so be it. Helping him is HER mission, not theirs. She believes that she can help him. That she and Antauri can help him. For a moment, Mandarin hesitates, but soon agrees to come back home with her. And when they return home, it’s a riot from the rest of the team. All rightful objections of anger and horror. Except from Antauri, who stood frozen in pure shock at the two’s return.

HAPPY 3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, MBK AU!!!

My Brother's Keeper turned 3 this past week on September 17th! It still absolutely blows my mind that my little OC story got so big and complex. This past year I didn't get to update as often as I wanted, mostly because of my new fic Brave Blossom which took up a huge chunk of my brain the first half of the year XD But lots of exciting things still happened for Amber! This past year MBK made its way through season 2 and right now we're smack dab in the middle of the I, Chiro saga (which is a huge milestone!) Amber has had a lot of character growth, and I'm so proud of her.

Speaking of milestones! MBK has gotten almost 5500 hits on Ao3 which is absolutely insane to me. Thank you everyone, all my readers, commenters, kudos-ers, and especially people who drew fanart! Seeing fanart of my girl Amber makes my heart so happy. AND A HUGE THANK YOU especially to my beta readers who are the absolute best people on the planet for all your encouragement and feedback, it truly means the world to me. We've got a long way to go but I know we can do it! 😊💙

I'm working on my solo journal rpg 'Hyperforce Adventure' again, I had a test run with it last night with some new mechanics, and it's working really well!

I'll post an update in the next few days so you guys can test it out, I need to create more roll tables and update more stuff for the character creator on monkey generator.

Hey, monkey team fandom...

So uh. it's been a while since I've done.. anything in this fandom. But, I figured, I should share this.

So it should be obvious but I've gotten into transformers and I've fallen down many, many rabbit holes, as I often do with my special interests. (also give me some slack I've only been here for like, a week and I haven't properly joined the fandom yet) But I made a discovery.

I've only watched a few sci-fi shows ever and I can barely remember the first one I watched since it was so long ago, but of course I remember SRMTHFG. So during this show, I've been making jokes about "Omg! monkey team reference!" and i've been also making not joke comparisons even though transformers animated and SMRTHFG have no connections...

Or do they?...

So I've been listening to the intro on repeat. it's a banger, I can't help it. One day my bluetooth headphones die and so my parents just- let me play my music through the speakers. I play the intro (what i was listening to) and my dad asks who sang it and made it. I said "oh i have no idea, but i'll look."

So long story short, the singer isn't important to this story. But you know who is?

This Sebastian Evans guy! I decided to click his name after reading this section from the wiki, and what did I find next?

Anyway i think this is really cool and I wanted to share this fact. It makes me incredibly happy. And as I always say (not really) with most my special interests, it's all connected!

this guy ⬇️ is Mandarin. He is responsible for kicking off the plot and ruining lives via silly antics.

He was the leader of the hyperforce until he was banished to space prison for being too power hungry. We don't see a whole lot of him as leader, but note how he has the same robotic modifications as everyone else.

Shortly after banishing him, everyone was put into a stasis for 50(?) years. Mandarin was alive and aging the whole time until they meet again, 50 years later. Most of his electronics are destroyed/rotting away.

Gonna skip a bit ahead here. Mandy fucks up one too many times and is MIA for the rest of the series. He's replaced by Mandarin... 2! (I'm gonna call him Skelemandarin to distinguish the two). He's a clone made of formless (a sort of black sludge). He's not dead, but he isn't exactly alive either.

I only recently noticed this... he's modeled after Mandy before the cybernetic prosthetics! He still has arms and ears. Inch resting considering the person who made Skelemandarin was more familiar with him as a baby rather than as a leader...

Regardless he's still just as cruel and heartless as before lol. He loses one of his hands, but he doesn't seem to bleed.

The next time we see him he's starting to spiral. He's losing fur and weight, and has a new prosthetic claw to replace his hand.

He's thrown into acid and loses the left side of his face.

He just keeps deteriorating and getting more fucked up.

What is his fucking problem. I wasn't expecting a show about robot monkeys to have such deep lore. Watching his perpetual downward spiral over 52 episodes was cool as fuck btw you can watch the entire series for free on yt just sayin ❤️

My new (Old) Enemy

After Chiro's death, Mandarin slipped away as quickly as he committed the crime.

And he remained hidden for the next fourteen years, however, he was always lurking, waiting to make his entrance, where he had prepared to face the Hyperforce and this time, finish the job.

However, Chiro's memories became more and more visible in Jasper's mind, causing him to become increasingly aware of the spirit within him.

On the other hand, faced with the new threat, he must put aside the fears of others that invade his head to protect those he loves.

Let's get back to this blog's bread & butter - guys who only appeared in 1 panel! Today we have this ogre of a bot tossing a pair of hapless forgettables from Nick Roche's opening few pages of Last Stand of the wreckers with Josh Burcham on colours.

This guy has a real great ape vibe which naturally leads me to talk about the only piece of Transformers media I talk about more than Needlenose's Hawt Forearms the IDW comics which is the seminal classic that is Rid15. I love the animal robot modes we see in that goofy freakshow cast but in this post lets take a look at Groundpounder and Simacore - a pair of absolute units with silverback and orangutan bot modes respectively:

What's monkey Orlov's fit in the story of all your characters?

/SLAMS DESK/ Yes, I wanted to talk about that! I'm going to put it under this because this might be long

So, in my story, the gem team was created by scientists and supervised by the Verans (i forgot how it is written ;; but Antauri's masters) because they foretold that the monkey team would fail fighting against skeleton king (which eventually didn't ocurred, as they submitted to the evil on their own in that episode).

So that's the context.

About Orlov now. The scientists worked hard to get the first successful gem monkey. And that was Orlov. He was supposed to be the leader of the team, that's why he has a black diamond ad his gem.

What happened with Orlov was that he was very talented managing both the power of his gem and the power primate. The scientists were very proud of him for that. But the Verans weren't really sure.

Why? Because Orlov's nature. He was more calm at first but as he kept improving he started showing red flags. You see, Orlov doesn't have ill intentions (unlike Orlov in my OU), but he has a chaotic nature, more likely chaotic neutral. They started to wonder if he was fit to be the leader of the team or if it was okay that he was acquiring so much power.

Eventually, some incident happens when Orlov loses control (not sure exactly how yet) and they realize that he is a threat. So, they tricked him to keep his guard down and captured him. To make sure to get rid of him, they took the gem on his chest and broke it.

They thought that was all but there's a thing about the diamond wielders. They have two gems and to kill them, you need to destroy both gems and even then you can be so sure that they are gone. Instead they get trapped in other dimension within their gem.

And that's where Orlov went and was trapped in (hence the chains around his wrists).

That's the origin story of Orlov haha

Now, with my other monkeys. In the original AU, only Althea and Orion know more about Orlov. That's because they were made to avoid the mistake they made first. They decided to separate powers, making Althea the one that wields mystical power and Orion wields brute force. They both have knowledge in what the other do, but there's certain inclination to what they are meant to do.

So, in the original AU, Orlov is more like past history. The team doesn't really involve with him.

But I have this other AU, in which the full gem team survives, but they are forced to stay in their planet, mainly because Althea's orders. In this AU, she's aware of the other scenarios that could have happen to her team, so she wants them to be safe as possible.

I picture this scenario in season 5 (cries), where the monkey team realizes that they need extra help to continue with the battle. That's when Antauri reveals that he knows about the gem team and that might be able to help.

They travelled to the gem planet (I can't spell it, gomen), and meet the gem team. They ask for their help but Althea refuses immediately.

Some other things happen in between but it would be too long to talk about, it isn't relevant either. So, what ocurrs next is that when the team is leaving, they are attacked by sudden sharp pieces of rocks, mainly targeted at Chiro.

I'm still working on this, but I've thinking that Mandarin took control of Orlov's broken gem, but was still able to use his powers (not at full capacity tho).

The mission then is to retrieve the gem (and kick mandarin's butt /lh). Eventually, Mandarin founds the missing pieces of the gem (all of the parts were in really hidden places but you know, he's not dumb and he was trained there before, so he knows where he's going and he was aware of Orlov's existence, so does Antauri btw).

He puts the pieces all together and fixes the gem, which sets Orlov free. Mandarin hopes to use him to fight the hyperforce, but Orlov attacks him instead.

Why is that? Because during his imprisonment, he could catch glimpses of the gem team and he grew fond to them (unlike OA!Orlov that he resents them, specially Althea).

I'm haven't thought much about what happens next, but the thing is that Orlov is out and Althea doesn't have the heart to lock him up again. So now, she has to make sure that he doesn't go out of control.

And the gem team eventually goes to help the Hyperforce, but that's another story.

So yeah, this is what I can tell about Orlov :>

Did a drawing of what Kira Kalveria, the secondary Jedi protagonist alongside James Lunagazer, looks like in the Hyperforce Reignition crossover fanfic universe, alongside the Monkey who will be a major supporting character in her development, the reckless red-maverick himself, Sparx.

I did consider having Otto, given that he and Kira share the same colour, and he was the first Monkey she took an instant liking to upon meeting, (barring the massive freak out they had when they understood each other without a translator.) But the more I thought about it, her personality more or less meshes more with Sparx.

I'd imagine Sparx would start to see some of his own traits in Kira, and so he'd begin to mellow back his reckless nature and become a sort of father-figure to the young Jedi Apprentice sort of like Chiro and Antauri's dynamic, (Not to say it won't be difficult, given Kira's impulsive and reckless attitude!)

I'll probably do one for James Lunagazer and the other members of Flarren Squadron who join the two Jedi in their adventures on Shuggazoom overtime as soon as I figure out the characters.

Kira's design is one that I actually tweaked from an old design, evoking her Green Jedi heritage and her energetic wise-cracker attitude, including gold shoulder armor which was inspired from the Mighty Morphin' Green Power Ranger, the Jedi Credit was rough due to it using the old Jedi Order symbol, but I got there.

But if anyone is knowledgeable about the old Legends lore, you may have noticed Kira is an apprentice, and Jedi Credits are usually given to those in the Corellian Jedi who ascend to the Rank of Knight, there's a reason for that which will be explored later...

I actually did consider making Kira an Togruta species to set her apart from her TC OC counterpart, but I felt it would have been too similar to Anakin and Ahsoka with how she and James are intially, though another Togruta character might appear later down the line, but to be blunt it won't be Ahsoka as she's straight up dead in this universe.

I don't hate her but she has been getting over-used in Star Wars, so yeah, and this universe is a mix of both Canon and Legends, at least from what knowledge I do have, but it won't come up much as I decided to leave that vague so that it could fit in either universe, and for if I decide to make a prequel series.

You know a lot of people are talking about JJ and Olivia as siblings or meeting each other in universe crossover, and all I wanna know is how would Selena and Thrax handle each other. One of them’s got no skin and the other has mommy issues lol. The sibling dynamic I wanna explore, far more interesting than whatever JJ and Olivia would have going on

Selena exploring the multiverse in general would be hilarious. One version of her dad has developed an apparent preference for polo shirts and one version of her mom’s Mystic Mother.

If I'm being frank I'm really not interested in "Olivia/Selena meet their prime universe brothers" because neither of the boys are interesting enough to me lmaoooo I guess there is something to the idea of the Rita/Rito dynamic continuing on to the next generation. (And admittedly I could be missing something with Thrax because I guess it sounds like he had a major part in Hyperforce?)

Selena finding out the prime universe versions of her parents were turned good, basically a "what if the Benevolator worked" scenario, would definitely be interesting though. Though how she reacts probably depends on what happens in #4

So, time for a BIG update.

Hyper Force Reignition Status Update

One of the biggest struggles I've been having is honestly, even wanting to post again. Burnout is real and dealing with a lot of IRL stresses doesn't help. I also was struggling with the scope of this fict, because I wanted to really linger and flesh out this AU, but I kept running into walls or having some really messed up experiences, l really don't wanna go into here involving IRL, that made it hard to wanna work (Death in the family, car getting stolen and wrecked)

Genuinely, I was struggling. I made models, I tried to keep forcing myself to work through it, but I just was NOT HAVING FUN ANYMORE.

Like, this was the biggest thing. I never lost my love for this fict, but man, I was not enjoying myself and I felt a lot of pressure.

This is something, I think I need to specify going forward when discussing Reignition and the tags later on will be updated to reflect that.

This is not an AU

This an iteration. So, it is DELIBERATELY different and canon is beloved and adored by me, but I cannot write it as is. Not out of a dislike for it, but because that's just not how my brain was wired. I've tried to explain it as "Same bones, different journey" but I don't think even that was enough.

The difference between Reignition and SRTMHFG is the same difference as THESE

I got back into TMNT as well, so this is kinda how I realized that I needed to really lean into the "iteration" part of Reignition, because truth be told, this wasn't really a canon rewrite. Canon was a suggestion left at the door.

An iteration is different from an AU cause it's that person's full interpretation of the story and telling their own version of it in it's entirety. I didn't wanna initially call Reignition that, because I didn't even realize it was that, but canon rewrite wasn't proper either... because it's not.

Also, because I've been getting some real pressure I wanna be out here and say it right now.

Aileen and I have some very specific body horror squicks and she has expressed to me, extreme discomfort over the idea of covering this arc because she doesn't want to illustrate it and I don't wanna write it.

This hits a very specific squick of ours, it's non negotiable.

Due to the "iteration" thing again, season 3 will have it's OWN storyline which comes up to the latest thing...

I have decided Reignition as it stands currently is COMPLETED...

I feel a little bad I didn't contemplate this sooner cause I could've announced it differently, but when I posted the last chapter here, I thought i was going to keep pushing through into the next arc.

Hyper Force: Feathering

As the story evolved and grew, it's become painfully obvious to me, that the way I was going was NOT going to work out.

So, instead of rushing through and giving you guys a non satisfactory ending...

We're coming back and in a new way. Keep an eye out. It'll be posted here to the Reignition tumblr as always and be locked into the series on A03. I will also still continue Reignition: Maintenance Checks as now that I've decided to turn this into a series proper, it's been feeling a lot better.

I'm also going to be incorporating promotional videos and I've been studying animation and using vroid more and more. There's a lot underway that I'm excited to get to.

Also keep an eye out for updated models! Aileen is cookin and I'm cookin!

I'm gonna also work on not putting as much pressure on myself, because I kept feeling like I had to be 'perfect'.

Kinda lost sight of why I was doing this.

I'm doing it for my younger self.

She's the one I'm doing 99% of this for.

So, going forward... what's happening to the main fict?

Thing is, while it's technically 'done' it's not. I had a full plot hashing out happen and I need to edit some early sections of it. That will happen over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out, I will be updating it as if it was regular updates, because it's new content just updated chapters. My soft goal, is to be back up and running by the 20th anniversary of SRMTHFG.

I've been honestly, trying to decide if I wanted to even make an update post, but it's been so long since I posted properly and... I don't believe in hiding.

I'm not fully ready to be back yet, but I hope you guys will stay with me, while I'm updating and getting stuff ready. Some sneak peek stuff will go up after this post.

HYPER FORCE GO!!!!

A random drabble involving the team and flower crowns.

Where the hyperforce landed would be considered the bane of those who suffered from pollen allergies. This was because of the massive field of flowers. Many types, sizes. They even came in a rainbow of colors. From red to Violet.

The reason why the team had been on the planet was to help a group of botanist that were doing a study of a new plant. It turned out this new plant had been guarded by some dangerous creature. Which had lead to the botanist putting out a distress call. And then the hyper force had picked up the call.

Now that the team had succeeded in stopping the threat they were taking a moment to themselves before they were to leave the planet. To spend a bit of time to relax amongst the flowers was nice to experience.

And some had come up with ideas of how to spend that relaxing time. Otto was one of them.

He had taken to sitting down and working on making a flower crown. Flowers in shades of blue. At least for the first one he made. After he finished that one he put the crown on his own head. Immediately he started on a second flower crown.

The flowers he was using in the making of the second flower crown were shades of green. The petals colors so close to his own fur color. He surely had a plan for this crown. And his plan was enacted moments later when the crown was finished. Otto made a beeline for Gibson.

Gibson was looking down at a particularly interesting flower when  Otto came up behind Gibson and put the green flowered flower crown onto Gibson's head.

"Oh!" Gibson said in surprise.

Otto was smiling as he stood back from Gibson.

"I made you a flower crown." Otto informed Gibson.

Gibson carefully felt at the flower crown on his head before he smiled softly.

"So you have... tell me, how do I look then?" Gibson asked.

"Good as always." Otto said.

Gibson was still smiling as Otto moved on. Otto had another flower crown. This one was was pink. And a perfect contrast to Nova's yellow fur. So it made sense that it was her that Otto placed the pink flower crown on. Nova was delighted on the spot.

"It's you." Sprx told Nova.

Nova smiled big and she couldn't help but spin in place to display the flower crown from all side.

"Of course it does. Pink's my color." Nova said.

Otto was already in the process of making another flower crown.

"Can you teach me how to make a flower crown?" Chiro asked.

"Oh! Me too!" Nova cried, sitting down next to Chiro. "I'm making one for Sprx."

"Sure!" Otto said, only happy to share this particular skill.

After gathering more flowers, Otto had another flower crown in the works. This one a rainbows worth of choices in color of the flowers. And a few different sizes of flowers.

Otto's progress with this new crown was just as quick as it was for the other crowns.

"How can you do this so fast?" Nova asked.

"I have many skills." was all that Otto said in reply to that question.

Chiro was the one who caught onto the process of making the flower crown first. And soon he had a nice pile of the flower crowns at his feet. Except for the pink one he was holding up to get a better look at.

"I'm sure Jinmay would love this." Chiro said.

"Will it last until we get back to Shuggazoom?" Sprx asked.

Chiro thought on that question. The he frowned slightly.

"Probably not. But I know how to make flower crowns now. So could always make her a new one." Chiro said.

"Oh!" Otto cried.

He nearly had dropped the in the works crown. Whatever it was that was on his mind it was clear that it was one that was interesting.

"If you make flower crowns at home, you could probably use ribbon, beads, and other neat stuff." Otto said.

"That's true!" Chiro said, the idea of using heart shaped beads in the next flower crown he would make for Jinmay.

Antauri was the one keeping track of time and their surroundings. Standing close to the group but not quite joining in. That did not stop Otto from hurrying over to Antauri and placing another crown onto Antauri's head. This one a green and white one.

Antauri didn't seem to mind the sudden addition of the flower crown to his head. His only reaction really a slightly surprised look. He was still as stoic as ever but he did not move to remove it at any point.

"We should start heading back." Antauri said.

"Hold on. Almost.. done..there!" Nova cried.

She held up the finished flower crown. A yellow and red one. Standing up she strode over to Sprx. Then she placed the crown onto Sprx's head.

"Nice color choice." Sprx commented.

"Like Otto, I have many skills. And now one of them is making flower crowns." Nova said.

With that the team headed back into the robot. It was nice to get this gentle moment at the very least.

And Chiro did indeed make that flower crown for Jinmay later on.
