It's interesting how in Interview with The Vampire everyone is an apex predator and yet there are nuances to that. A kind of hierarchy.

It's interesting how I'm inclined to think Louis got Claudia killed.

But if I'm honest, the entire narrative conspired to kill her. She kept journals she was not told she was not allowed to keep. Journals in which she incriminated herself. Madeleine suggested they go back one last time because Louis loved her and would want to see her. Lestat watched as Claudia died and did nothing. Louis kept secrets and refused to believe her.

When Claudia told Louis Armand threatened her my first thought to Louis was "Take the girl and run". They could have done that. Armand and his coven weren't the type to follow them. Not like Lestat. But maybe Louis couldn't have known that for sure.

But Louis was arrogant to think he was the one who was in control. Because instead he thought he could genuinely semi-take over a coven run for centuries by a centuries old vampire who was supposedly in love with him.

I wonder how he rationalized it. Did he tell himself he was doing it for Claudia? Taking over the coven she loved so much and wanted to belong in?

I call bullshit on all of it.

Because the way to control Louis is by making him believe he is the one in control.

Armand never loved Louis and Louis never loved Armand. Armand got played by Lestat. For a week or a month Lestat said and did all the right things to get Armand to teach him what he wanted to learn about vampirism. And then Lestat ran. Lestat was the one that got away. The one he couldn't keep under his control.

And then here comes this 30 year old vampire that actually managed to keep Lestat around for 30 years. Lestat actually mated him, actually treated him most of the time like he loved him and in his need to control Louis by letting him think he was the one in control Lestat actually gave up control. Not only that, even after that Lestat didn't want it to end and Louis actually had to (try and) kill Lestat in order to be free of him. Louis achieved with Lestat what Armand literally dreamed of when he first laid eyes on Lestat. Of course Armand had to have Louis.

He held on to Louis so that Lestat couldn't have him. Did Lestat try to find him and back off when he realized Louis was with a vampire that outranked him in age and power? Knowing Louis most likely would not come with him easily so talking him away from Armand before Armand found out was also out of the question?

Louis never loved Armand either. He didn't even consider Armand a companion. He tells Armand this. Lestat took the time to learn Louis. He knew Louis' history, everything about everything that mattered to him and could read him like a book. Armand couldn't even remember his mother's name. He didn't care to, because it was never about Louis. It was about holding onto what Lestat considered the love of his life.

Maybe the huge difference was that Louis did love Lestat. Against his better judgment he did. Even though he never verbally revealed it to Lestat himself, he did. Then again Antoinette loved Lestat too and Lestat couldn't really care less. Louis fell in love with Lestat when Lestat first courted him with the intent to mate him. And by the time Lestat revealed that he was a vampire, Louis could not undo that he loved him. That revelation was not enough to undo it. And it horrified Louis.

Louis knew Armand didn't love him though. I think he preferred it that way. Because look what happened when someone considered themselves in love with him. Armand did not care enough about him as an individual and never actually gave up control. Just made Louis think he did. I'm not sure Louis ever realized that Armand was more dangerous than Lestat. Just because as far as we know Armand never physically hurt him does not mean he was the safer choice.

Lestat knew this. But Armand also immediately showed Lestat who he really was. I wager that Lestat was terrified of Armand and saw him for what he was. And wanted to get as far away from him as possible so as not to become collateral damage to whatever Armand had going on. This is a man who brought in a stranger to take apart his entire coven he had run for centuries. People committed suicide. And he did it twice.

Interview with the Vampire, the title as in his original interview with Daniel Molloy, is literally Louis pulling a Lestat. When Louis said that the original interview is an admitted performance he meant it. Doing an interview that is almost exclusively about Lestat but in a way that is clearly a bold-faced lie meant to try to get a rise out of him.

You know Louis had a fever dream that Lestat would come find him on account of that book, not because he was appalled as being revealed to be a vampire, but appalled at the way Louis sketched their relationship and Lestat himself.

The way Lestat made Louis a song that involved Antoinette singing on it knowing that if anything would get a rise out of him enough for Louis to come find him, that would be it.

Yeah okay so every vampire in the vampire chronicles is turned at critical a moment in their lives and beyond just the body they are in when they are turned, their mentality stays at that standstill for their entire immortality, Lestat was turned against his will, he was clinging onto Magnus begging him to be freed, so he’s constantly seeking freedom and only finding loneliness and thus turning back to people again and again, however he can’t STAND being told what to do, since he desires agency in his life so desperately, Armand was turned after years and years of abuse and lack of control but such a desire for genuine love, by a man he ‘loved’ so wholly who he felt was barring his love from him, he needs control in his life, he needs a ‘master’ but he does not desire it, it does not fulfill him, he is trapped in a room but the door is unlocked! Louis was mourning his brother, he felt like an utter failure and so he’s always seeking family, seeking people he can care for, he can coddle, he can prove he is good too, but he loves people who either cannot stand coddeling and need a sense of looseness to live (Lestat) or people who grow out of coddling who prove to Louis he will always fail the people he loves (Claudia), Claudias turning, in many MANY ways mirrors lestats in that it was against her will, she was stolen from her home, and in her immortality she desires freedom but unlike Lestat does not have the agency/ form to get it, she will always be small, she will always be looked down on, even by Lestat who cannot deny how much she is just like him *taps mic* ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME!! NONE OF THEM CAN BREAK THE CYCLE!!! TO BREAK IT WOULD BE TO UNDO THE VERY FIBER OF THEIR IMMORTAL SELVES!! THE CYCLE IS THE BLOOD THEY DRINK IT IS THE HEART IN THEIR CHEST AND IT ROLLS AND ROLLS DOWN THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS OF THEIR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AND IT CAN NEVER BE STOPPED BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER STOP LOVING EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lex is Vlad reincarnated

So! Lex Luther, the greatest person to ever exist, had recently made a discovery.

A few weeks ago, a Cult of moronic simpletons had managed to kidnap him. Him! All for some stupid Demonic ritual where they sacrifice the wealthiest man they could find in return for something meaningless like "No More Poverty" or "No More Starvation".

He had survived, of course, and was unfortunately save by Supermoron.

But before the Man of Steel had busted in, he overheard something from the Cultists. Apparently they had chosen him for more than just his wealth, there was something more about his Soul that they were after. It felt "Divine", as if he had the soul of a God stuffed in a Mortal's body.

And obviously it must be correct. He was already the most intelligent man in the world, One of the wealthiest, and held more political power than any single man on the planet, so of course "God in disguise" was the next logical addition to that List.

Over the next few weeks he studied and prepared.

He needed to make sure that his efforts would be rewarded, that those Cultists had been correct about him despite their idiocy.

After buying up as many Magical Artifacts as he could related to Identity and Soul, he tested himself on Each and Every One. And Lo and Behold, he is truly a God.

Well, the Reincarnation of One. Apparently this was common in immortal beings such as himself, reincarnating themselves into mortal bodies as a sort of Vacation from their Duties. All he needed to do now was find a way to regain his Memories and Power without dying, and he would truly become a God On Earth.

A few more weeks of Preparation, and he was ready.

Apparently the Manchild of Steel had caught onto his plan in that time. His Ego probably couldn't bear another God living in the same City as himself, so he tried to stop Lex's plans of Ascension. Thankfully, in his research he had discovered his Rival's vulnerability to Magical Attacks, and set up countermeasures for him and his Breakfast Club should they attempt to interfere.

He stepped into the Ritual Circle, and began his Ascension to Godhood.

Try as they might, the League could not foil his plans this time. The Ritual Circle lit up with a sickly green light, and expanded to cover his entire body. The Ritual began to finally complete itself.

He had Won.

Oh.

...

Vlad stood at the center of the circle for a few moments. He took in all his Memories of his most recent Life, and Facepalmed so hard he was sure The Badger heard it back in the Realms.

Ten Tousand Years of Therapy specifically to curb his egotistical tendencies, and That is how he decides to spend his most recent Life? Acting as a Billionare Supervillain attacking a well meaning Hero for nothing less than Ego?! He even Cloned them!? Had he learned NOTHING!?!?

"Careful Team, we don't know how powerful he is now." He heard his current Nemesis say.

Oh right...they were still there.

He didn't really feel like explaining everything to them, and he technically still had about 40 years left on his Vacation...

He simply turned his back to them, flew back to his Mansion, turned back into his Human Form, and set about his Day. Maybe he could right a few of the wrongs he had done on this life?

It would certainly throw his current Nemesis for a loop. And while he may not Hate him anymore, he definitely still liked to Mess with him.

Maybe this would be more entertaining than he thought?
