i do think it's interesting that even when knowing his future on mortis (hello vader foreshadowing to the point of just saying this is going to happen outright), anakin STILL turns to the dark side immediately. the Brother promises peace, and anakin's just like ok bet KNOWING who he is. I know it's to prevent the future he sees, which despite the Father's assurances, the audience knows WILL happen, but it's still telling.
also, love the parallels to RotS of anakin bringing balance to the planet by everyone dying. the Father, the Daughter, and the Son. Granted, he was only responsible for the Son's death, which is ironic in and of itself.
i find anakin to be the most compelling when he is struggling to find his way like in this arc. there is something unmatched about vader foreshadowing, it hits every time for me.
#anakin is just an extremely interesting character to me#he is not my favorite on a pure enjoyment level in that i find him annoying more often than not#but i will never be an anakin hater just like i will never be an anakin apologist#he DID do all the things he did and those things were objectively awful#but at the same time there IS a goodness to him that can't be denied#i also think the whole palpatine grooming him thing is super understated#like the most Evil guy to ever Evil was literally a mentor figure to him over his own master#palpatine purposefully isolated anakin from his built in support network through the worst means possible#along the same lines anakin grew up as a slave leaving him both more vulnerable to palpatine's abuse#and with what i'm sure was a fucked up worldview to begin with#he was also so young for all of it#i am the age when he Fell and let me tell ya it is a Time as a normal person in a normal life#again those things he did and his beliefs were undoubtedly his choices and his beliefs#but there's a lot going on there too#it's the tragedy of it all yk#anakin#vader#the scroll#ghosts of mortis#anakin skywalker#darth vader

Did they ever make an official transaction key for the demantius scroll, for the stuff other than the incantations or was that all he wrote?
Do you mean translation key? Because, no, they didn't. Some fans tried to work it out, and it seems to be largely gibberish.
Here's the fanmade translation key.

Can we please get a 72hr option for polls? One day is a little short, and a week is really long. I would like to be able to run a mid-week comedy poll, or a weekend max-engagement poll. Thnx. 🥂

Animator & filmmaker Don Hertzfeldt on the difference between crate digging & streaming from a recent interview:
Not to sound like a curmudgeon, but when I was a teenager, I took the train to go to the record store to find rare stuff. Spotify is way more convenient, but that wasn’t the point. The point was to get out and to feel like you’re hunting, to feel like you’re living your life. I’m going to the movies, I’m going to this show. What streaming has done — it’s very convenient, but it’s taken the feeling of going hunting and turned it into we’re all just being fed. We’re all farm animals that are just being fed, and we’re being fed content. You can just stay home. Just stay home. We’ll just feed it to you. No wonder everyone’s depressed.

anybody else feel that being human is like being a long-time syndicated cartoon character watching the world get more complex while your own design stays the same until youre incongruous with the reality around you??

just updated my star wars tracking post!! not a ton of progress, but a decent amount. I’m halfway through season 3 of the clones wars, though I’m watching in a fan-created order rather than the order they aired, so the actual amount i’ve watched is little out of wack. I also added a section for other sw media on my list beyond the movies/tv shows since i started reading quinlan vos’s comics and i have some other books/video games that i know i want to check out.
if anyone in the tumblr void has any suggestions for star wars books/comics/other media to check out, please give it to me!! I have a particular interest in the clones, the fetts, and jedi, but I’m not picky. i also don’t particularly care if something is EU/legends or canon.
overall, i’m really enjoying everything! tcw is way more of an ensemble shows than i expected, and i’ve come to like some of the senators in particular (shoutout riyo chuchi, bail organa, and padme). anytime cody comes on screen, i make heart hands haha, he’s my guy. the clones are the best, as expected, and the geonosis arc was very compelling as well.
i find anakin to be way more annoying than i thought i would, though i don’t necessarily dislike him. ashoka is awesome! i don’t really think she started off as annoying the way she was described as doing but 🤷♀️. very excited to see her grow!
quinlan vos in the comics is cool af, i’m intrigued on how i’ll feel about his appearances in tcw and dark disciple. he seemed to match well enough in his season 3 appearance, though a little less dark overall, which makes sense. i’ve heard mixed things about dark disciple, so we shall see when i finally manage to get my hands on it!
anyway, that’s all! if you’ve made it this far in my ramblings, thanks and please say hi :))))
#a status update via#the scroll#i’m serious if there’s any recommendations that aren’t on my list please let me know#or if there’s anything already on my list that should be bumped up in priority let me know that too#meg talks#star wars#star wars the clone wars#the clone wars#tcw#quinlan vos#commander cody#the clones#uuhhhhh#ashoka#riyo chuchi#i actually want people to find this post so i’m trying to tag accordingly#ahsoka tano#anakin skywalker#bail organa#padme amidala#anyway that’s all folks!

I know you already talked about Adira, but what are some other things that felt like they'd be a bigger deal when they debuted but kinda got shafted? I, for one, think of the scroll, which kinda served its purpose, got destroyed, and left more questions than answers, and Varians connection to the brotherhood most of all. I don't even think we got a scene of Quirin telling Varian about the brotherhood, but by the season 3 finale, Varian already knows. That was a conversation we missed.
I agree about the scroll. There is so much in the design that I thought was going to be touched upon. Like this section:
What does all that mean? Control over plants and animals? I thought the combined Sundrop and Moonstone were going to represent this whole... power of creation thing, or something.
Frankly, I've never been particularly interested in the "Varian's connection to the Brotherhood" angle. Quirin's life as a member of the Brotherhood is well and truly behind him, and Varian isn't actually "connected" to them at all. They're people his dad used to work with, long before he was born. Does this mean I don't think they'd be interested in getting to know him and vice versa? No. At least, not necessarily. But while Adira was clearly aware of Varian, she made no attempt to make contact, even when the kid was completely alone. But I never thought that would be a big deal in the story, which is what you're asking me.
I thought Lady Caine was going to be a much bigger deal than she turned out to be. As the primary villain of the pilot movie -- and with a very good point and driving force behind her -- I definitely thought there'd be more to her than the occasional escape and needing to be stopped and returned to prison. (Ever think how she and the other criminals took over the prison barge, but there's not a guard to be seen? She killed those people, or had them killed, and threw them overboard.) I thought she was going to join forces with Andrew in jail, since they had a common goal. (And yeah, by the end of S1, I thought Varian was going to be involved in that gang as well.)
I know I've talked about it recently, but I thought the hourglass in "No Time Like the Past," the shell in "Day of the Animals" and the dragon egg in "Pascal's Dragon" we all pointing toward Matthews laying a subtle attack of chaos on Corona, trying to weaken it from the inside. I thought he and Sugracha were going to make a return, even if it was just because they were still trapped in the Lost Realm, and would spend part of the finale making the lives of the heroes who got trapped there hell (instead of the goofy nonsense we got instead). I expected this so much that every time they weren't used or mentioned, I expected them to show up farther along down the road.
I thought we were going to learn what exactly Gothel's role was with the Disciples of Zhan Tiri. I thought they'd explain why she split from them (if she split from them) and talk about how her greed over the Sundrop flower resulted in her not getting a powerful spirit form or something. I thought the fact that she was one of them was going to be a bigger deal.
I thought Cassandra's burned arm was going to be a bigger deal, especially considering how it was the catalyst that caused Cassandra to close herself off from Rapunzel and let Zhan Tiri in. But once it served its purpose to cause a rift between them, it didn't even matter that it had been so severely injured. That's even the hand she grabbed the Moonstone with, and the glove on that side was blue, making it stand out. I thought the decay was going to be spreading over her body under the suit, and the Moonstone was going to be the only thing keeping her strong and well. But the injured arm didn't even matter anymore.
I thought Eugene's past was going to be a bigger deal. He knew Lady Caine. His best friend from the orphanage and thieving days returned as a supporting character. He has an ex-fiancée, who is the daughter of the most powerful man in the criminal underworld outside of Corona. But the next time we saw Stalyan, she didn't even have anything to say about her dad who, the last time we saw him, was dying from a spider bite. Not only did she not mention him, she was even semi-reformed (and not by Eugene). Eugene's entire past was only really touched on here and there. I appreciate that they shed any light on it at all, but it was much less than I was anticipating.
There's probably more, but I slept terribly last night and I've got a headache, so this is all I can think of right now.
