These guys sound a little sovcidiotic to me.

My sis-in-law, a normal-person (not sovcit) US Air Force attorney, instructed us on an even easier to remember, two-phrase script we've taught our children.

"Am I free to go?" *

"I want an attorney."

That's really all you need to know. This also applies to minors, who unfortunately have no legal right to contact or be accompanied by a parent/guardian during detainment or questioning.

You should ALWAYS ask for an attorney to be present during questioning EVEN IF YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. Police can legally lie to you, so answering questions can be detrimental to you even if you are innocent.

(*if yes, leave. if no, demand an attorney.)
