So while everyone is trying to get any discourse that isn't Apple related going, would this be a good time to mention I think Faybelle/Apple and Briar/Raven have more parallels than Apple/Briar and Faybelle/Raven? Or talk about the realtionship between Raven and Briar at all? Anybody here?

I have some thoughts about the idea of forgiveness and moving on we see in media and fans. The thoughts mostly come from being in therapy and spending time with people who specialize in those fields and helped me come to terms with my own pain.
This can very well be taken in general but is mostly about Vi.
Right. So.
Vi is a genuinely interesting character, who has gone through hell and back to put it lightly. She lives in conditions in the undercity that has people who don't live in them wear masks to handle them. She grew up and saw her parents die, which means she had to step up. Vander did adopt her, her sister, Mylo and Claggor but Vander still put a lot of responsibilities on Vi. She was told she cannot be selfish when people look up to her.
Then, of course, the entire act 1 of season 1 happens, which in itself is already very much and not something that should have ever happened to anyone, let alone a kid/teenager. She then, on TOP of all of this, got thrown into Stillwater after seeing her entire family die (and presumed Powder also as dead, although she continued to hope), where she was canonically beaten, starved, put into isolation and... the rest is up to interpretation because I guess the writers did not care. But that interpretation is not a good one.
What I am trying to say with all of this is that Vi has been put through so much by the system and by people (Enforcers get a special mention here) all around her.
This gets me to the point. I see a lot of people, the writers themself even, talk about how Vi needs to (or already did) forgive and move on. And I just wonder where this idea comes from?
In all my time in therapy, no matter what and who I talked about, you know what I have never heard? That I need to forgive.
What I heard instead was rather close to this:
"What happened was not your fault. It happened and can't be changed. But there is still something you can do, because you stand here now. You can imagine yourself back then and guide yourself. Hold yourself and tell the younger version of you that what happened isn't ever going to be fine but that you are still here and that you need to be kind to yourself." She told me "take the hand of your younger version and walk her through it because in the end it will have always happened but you can choose to help yourself"
There is a lot more she told me, but that is between her and me. What I am trying to say with this is that not once did I ever get told that I need to forgive the people involved. I am also not trying to say that doing this works for everyone, because health does not work this way. The point I am making is that I find it incredibly weird that we came to the point of saying that the only way to let go is to forgive, when that could not be further from the truth.
I would say understanding it happened and being kind to yourself does a lot more than trying to forgive people who hurt you so much that it ends in you being broken to what seems beyond repair (it isn't I have learned that much, lol). That's what my therapist taught me.
Which brings me back to Vi and why I find the notion of "she needs to forgive and move on to get better" or the writers writing "she forgave and moved on" so weird.
What happened to her is not something that can be forgiven. And... that is okay. Or it should be okay. But for some reason it isn't?
I mean if you can and want to forgive that is for you to do but to say that it is a (or even THE) way to move on does not sit right with me. At all.

saying this as respectfully as possible but. Do not put fandom content creators on a pedestal. We are also just fans contributing to a community just as you are. We have boundary on our own work and that’s it. What I say is not and should not be considered sth the whole fandom should listen to. I’m just a normal ass person ranting about things on my blog. If it does not have a fandom tag for others to engage in, do not make it out to be me trying to start fights or addressing the whole community. Because it’s not.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, my art, my lore talk, is biased. I’ve never tried to hide that I view Marika a certain way and will always develop my theory following that base assumption.
Aside from translation stuffs and pointing out in-game items, everything else I say you can look at it, agree or disagree, and move on to form your own opinions. Just because I draw stuffs doesn’t mean you get to saddle me with responsibilities about managing fandom expectations. What the hell? I’m a fan artist, I’m the last person who you should look at for “leaderism” (?) WHAT?
I can and will be a hater in my own space, like I know sometimes other artists will just post their stuffs and not engage too heavily with fandom, and for a while I did try to do that here (because I’m already a dramatic ass on twitter), that’s just not me though.
You will get art and you will get my opinions as well.

#asking ppl to [celebrate different takes] is... WHAT?#different takes as in well I think she likes apples and you think she likes grapes. yeah that’s some fun discussion to be have#but different takes as in the fundamental of a character’s drive and personality??? NO#let’s put that down very clear here#I can still read fics where Marika is cold and calculate and manipulative as long as I can see there’re layers to it and the author#set it up in a way that I can see they got her backstory and build those layers based on that#and then there are ppl who literally only portray her as omg evil girlboss 101 let’s blame everything on this cardboard character#then I click back.#and there r ppl who might not vibe with how i portray her and they can ignore me. THAT'S OK TOO. we r in our own space.#it’s as simple as that!#ever since the dlc is out i literally could see the amount of ppl blocking me go up and im just “ok” because i do go around muting ppl too.#that's normal fandom space managing experience. pls do that#lore discussion is for ppl to engage in so u say ur piece i say mine and we can continue or not depending on situation#but FANWORK? leave each other alone or be a hater in ur own space ok?#personal#also where are these ppl who have been defending Marika at... because if u exclude me#and some others i can count on one hand. where are these ppl?#ppl saying headass stuffs about the HS aren't even Marika fans or engage too much in fandom to begin with#meanwhile u can't even find one youtube lore essay that says anything good about her#ppl are even trying to give Messmer's mother position to GEQ for no goddamn reason#like where is this overwhelming support for Marika at cuz as the active Marika stan around im not seeing it

Started trying to be more vocal on my side account on twitter (shudders) i bring up how transfemininity oft feels like an afterthought in alot of hs art and i get pqrted like thrice 😭😭😭 id like to have discussions about homestucks transfeminine nature and how much care hussie seemed to inject into the queerness bc its really cool i havent seen media this big be like this!! But twitter is so bad for that. Its like people Dont want its queer rep to go deeper beyond its surface level..?
Somebody always has to go W-what about my personal feelings of discomfort with femininity i love and project onto john sm🥺 any time anyone talks about june egbert. I feel like there might be a constant pattern of highlighting masculine stories over feminine ones totally no real world reason for that ever! all fandom behaviour is totally exempt from criticism bc queer people are doing it so nothing can be critique worthy☝️😇
Scratches my chin. I dunno. Nobodys forcing anyone to make anything just take a little time to empathise with others. Maybe youll get inspired by somebody elses story

I’m a sucker for the reluctant father figure adopts feisty teenager more than anything in the entire world and I was so desperate for this to be Haymitch and Katniss when I first read the trilogy
And now SOTR is out, it feels like everything I’ve ever wanted has been put in the palm of my hand and you best believe I bawled my eyes and heart out at that epilogue.
But I maintain the stance that Haymitch was not able to be a father to Katniss. He was far too broken by the time her games came around and there are so many instances in the books where he’s downright cruel to her despite caring about her (and Peeta) more than anyone in the world. Katniss describes Boggs as reminding her of her father but Haymitch is never really able to take on that paternal figure. Maybe they wish that’s what they could be together but Katniss had been an adult since 11 and Haymitch was barely able to care for himself. I think people are forgetting that he literally left her to care for herself in return to 12 for weeks until Peeta returned at the end of mockingjay.
So when I read SOTR, you best bet I gasped when I found out Louella was his sweetheart. Louella who he described as his LITTLE SISTER. because suddenly everything fit together so perfectly. No, in this world Haymitch couldn’t be Uncle Hay to Katniss. And no, he could not be the father figure she missed so desperately. But he was always an older, protective figure looking out for her. Haymitch Abernathy, the man who adopted so many as his younger siblings. Maybe that’s what Katniss was in a sense to him. Not strictly a younger sister because he certainly took on a more parental role with her (the people guarding Snows greenhouse discussing going to inform Haymitch that Katniss is there) but maybe she was just enough to heal the hole left by Sid.
Maybe, like Katniss was almost a mother to Prim but not quite, Haymitch fulfills the same role.

I'm about to say something that may or may not be controversial, but
I think that if Stanley hadn't been kicked out he'd be more hated than Ford (or at least hated just as much)

I know there are some bucktommy fans that aren't happy with the Maddie and Buck scene at the end of the ep (for a variety of reasons). And while there are aspects of it I don't like, I think it's actually crucial - for me, it's the scene that TRULY puts buddie to rest.
In the morning after scene with Tommy, if you try to watch it with buddie goggles on, I could *kind of* see how they would claim buddie still has a chance. Buck is talking to his ex, who he just slept with - you could claim that he is in denial because he doesn't want to admit that it was a factor in their relationship (I absolutely don't see it this way, but like I said, I'm trying to put buddie goggles on here), or he doesn't want to hurt Tommy (which he ended up hurting him anyway, but I digress). They even have Tommy scoffing at Buck's denial, and one could interpret that as "well, TOMMY thinks Buck's in love with him!" Which ok, fair enough, but Tommy isn't Buck, is he? The only one who truly knows his own feelings is Buck.
Cue the conversation with Maddie. Maddie, his sister who has always been his sounding board for his relationships, who was the first person he went to when he realised he was bisexual, who he goes to for advice when hurdles in his relationships appear (instead of the person he's actually in a relationship with, but again, I digress). Maddie, who is sitting there basically telling Buck, "hey, if you ARE in love with your best friend, there's nothing wrong with that, and I'll support you." If Buck had any feelings for Eddie, here was the safe space to finally start to address any doubts or potential feelings.
Instead, when asked, Buck gives a firm, definitive "I am not in love with my best friend." Listen to his tone of voice. There is absolutely zero doubt there - he knows what he wants (or doesn't want, as the case may be). Then when he suggests calling and Maddie assumes he's talking about Eddie, Buck gives a flippant "no, I'll call him later" before stating, again, very firmly that he was talking about calling TOMMY.
And all this time, while they are having this conversation, what is Buck doing? He's getting all the tools and ingredients out to start baking again. Even if you dont listen to his words, his actions are showing that he cant stop thinking about Tommy.
Now, I could go on about how I believe they were using Maddie as a stand-in for the buddie fans and Buck as a mouthpiece for the writers to try and shut buddie down once and for all, but that's all conjecture. But everything else i mentioned? That is stuff that was shown ON SCREEN. We heard those words, we heard the tone, and we saw their actions. You can interpret anything however the hell you want, but if you listen to Tim and Aisha when they said "we are going to let what we show you on screen do the talking", what is the show is telling us?
Buck is 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, NOT in love with Eddie.

Folks, I keep thinking and thinking and rethinking about how this last season of Malevolent will go, and I guess my question for the fandom at the end of the day is: what would make a satisfying end/final season to you?
There are so many loose strings and conflicting themes and ideas and characters that I can’t keep track of so I want to know everyone else’s wants from this season and specifically the ending. What do you think needs to be addressed? What motifs and symbols should be tied up in the end? What themes should conclude the story? What characters should have a role and what should their role be? What characters/themes/plot beats should no longer have a role? What would make this ending imperfectly or perfectly satisfying to you? I desperately need to discuss this bcs I just keep going in unproductive circles, so why not start with a possible list of things that would satisfy? I’m talking Parker being addressed, Arthur dying if that’s your thing, how John can gain autonomy, Bella getting to beat the shit out of Arthur, whether Arthur should remain blind (he should let’s be honest), whether Lilly the cow should be brought in or something, Noel’s role in the season, Yellow actually getting addressed again. The water motif being turned on Kayne or Manny. Fire/light being used in the solution. The continuation and conclusion to how corruption/disease is tied to Arthur and connection to the disease running through the dark world. Poems that should pop up again. Idc wht it is or how realistic, pls share!

did you see the article wrong organ tweet abt an interview with the lead writer —>
https://t.co/5dcfeePkz3
The article really should honestly be read by people who try to make any of the characters actions black or white and ignore the other themes in the game. It specifically mentions these aspects that people try to make seem undebatable or uninterpretive and makes sure to use wording to say it can stem from multiple things and never confirm or deny anything.
I do remind people that the interviewer does not work for Wrong Organ so I am only using quotes and paraphrased statements rather than their own deductions as those should be taken with the same grain of salt of an analysis you see on twitter or tumblr and even my blog. They are still a subjective eye compared to Kasurinen’s direct statements.
Particularly pointing out that Jimmy, while deplorable, is still supposed to complex and his actions are not fueled by some comically sick amusement. And that Curly’s actions are not just rooted in one thing and not just rooted in rape culture but also include other social and systemic factors besides the shallow idea he’s just dick riding for his friends. It’s meant to be interpretative and I need to point out that the main writer says that “good intentions mean nothing when it’s gotten that bad”. A lot of people like to think Curly was only acting with intentions for himself or Jimmy when it’s was a misguided attempt at overall peace that ultimately failed and whatever processes behind that are to be nitpicked, not if he was acting out or malice or disregard.
I wish more was talked about specifically with Anya, Daisuke and Swansea but I understand why they weren’t as Curly’s actions/inactions pre-crash and Jimmy’s actions throughout all segments are the main impactful forces in the game. People should really read it for themselves but sit on this quote directly from the main writer:

hello! i haven't seen anyone on my dash talk about Lebanon yet so i thought i'd bring it up in case there are those who don't know:
as of Sept 24th, more than 500 are killed and hundreds more are injured from airstrikes and bombings (CTV article linked here for further reading).
no doubt more info on how to help will come out (or probably already have) but for starters i've donated to Doctors Without Borders / Medicins Sans Frontieres (Canadian website linked but they're available in other countries as well) and hopefully anyone who is able can donate too.

life is hard for us oz fans who are only meh about wicked. have half a meme.
#it's not even that i dislike boq as a character - he's fine. i think galinda is the most intriguing of the musical esp in her relationship#with power and how that relates to her relationships with other people. but boq is fine#i am just SO fucking tired of conflating boq wicked with nick chopper baum books#that's not my tin woodman. and i don't want him to be. nick (unlike many oz characters) has a very specific and set backstory#he has a whole damn book about it ffs#and boq is such a different character in terms of role symbolism and personality that i just cannot see him as even an au version of nick#fiyero too to be completely honest. though his mischaracterization doesn't bother me quite as much bc i read the book and he is rather#intriguing as a separate character - i don't love him in the musical tho. anyways specifically calling boq the tin woodman and saying#all the baum book stuff happened to him is so irritating to me because they are not at all the same. and nick is one of my favorite charas#in any media ever. idk. no hate if you like boq ofc and i don't want to stop you from having fun with the characters#i just am getting tired of the greater oz fandom latching on to wicked as fleshing out the baum or mgm characters. it's an entirely#different world. (and yes we can discuss the fact that wicked is intended to be canon compliant with the 39 film - but once again it's#a stretch to say it fits the charas. and that isn't the issue i have here.)#anyways. sorry. i'm just tired of wicked = boq = nick stuff#esp im annoyed at the fiyero and boq blorbo-ifying i see when the women of this musical are far more interesting and proactive#boq and fiyero are just furniture/pawns in the great drama that is elphaba's life and the way she pulls glinda into it with her#but WHATEVER i DIGRESS and shit. ignore this. whatever#it's the way people attempt to reconcile a lot of non-compliant media into whichever one they like the best. which is all fun and games#i am just being a hater. ok? this is me being a hater.#analysis#wizard of oz#wicked#wicked musical#toast talks oz#toasty talks

I am once again begging people to realize that Ivenci does not in fact want to "make Antiva better", that's not why they want the Crows gone. This is someone who straight up let Treviso get occupied by the Antaam who fuck up every city they occupy (and tbh it is actually insane to me that a mage let the Antaam occupy their city after the atrocities in Ventus, which must have happened before the Antaam took Treviso because occupied Ventus is referenced in Eight Little Talons which happens before Antiva is invaded; it says a lot that Ivenci thought that was a good idea). They tried to gas the city with qamek (again, insane thing for a mage specifically to be doing after Ventus, these experienced writers did that on purpose) to remove the Crows and their supporters yes but also anyone who spoke out against the occupation too loudly. Guys, please, Ivenci wants power. We are repeatedly told and shown that they want power. They'd rather destroy the minds of half the city and give those remaining to the Antaam than not have power. Their immediate response to being told they'll be put on trial—with the knowledge of the king and merchant princes, so even if we assume the Crows don't have the legal right to do that they fully intend to cover their bases on that front—for all that treason it is at this point well documented they've been committing is "You can't do that to me, I'm the governor of this city". Them saying the Crows are bad does not mean they're right because they could not more clearly think the Crows are bad because they're getting in their way specifically.
They're not even right about why the Crows are bad; first and easiest the stuff about the Crows murdering people in the street is just straight up nonsense, there is literally nothing in any other game or this one suggesting they do that, they kill people they are hired to kill (and because they're so expensive those targets are extremely unlikely to include random people on the street) and claiming they're as bad as the Antaam (who we do see dragging people away during the first visit to Treviso) is ridiculous. And second... I've said this many times, but defending Antiva is literally the Crows' job. If the people of Treviso or Rook (or Ivenci, although they wouldn't for obvious reasons) went to the king and asked for help to free Treviso, the king would send them straight back to the Crows because defending Antiva is their duty and they do it proudly and as well as they can. Keeping Ivenci in the loop is the limit of what they're really required to do, and frankly given Ivenci is a) incredibly rude, b) wildly suspicious and c) entirely useless it's really more than they deserve, someone please replace this person with a competent governor who actually wants to help their people. Also no I won't ever be over them standing around doing nothing except insisting Crows Bad right outside the field hospital the Crows set up and are fighting to defend from the Antaam in blighted Treviso. This is where everyone involved in this situation who claims to care for Treviso should be putting their money where their mouths are and it is telling and pointed that the Crows do at great personal cost—the Crow casualties dying of blight and getting warped into monsters that the other Crows with Rook's aid have to put down so they aren't suffering and can't hurt anyone was deliberate, can people stop acting like the Crows are totally fine and untouched in blighted Treviso—and Ivenci and the Butcher don't, that was a deliberate storytelling choice and I would like people to stop ignoring it.
Ivenci is not insisting the Crows should stay out of it because it's not their job and they're overstepping; they're saying it because it is the Crows' job and they are interfering with Ivenci's plans, which is in fact evidence of the Crows working as intended in their role as Antiva's defenders (which does make the argument that Ivenci's right about the Crows being bad for Antiva somewhat ironic, given they're walking proof of the Crows being pretty good at their role even while being actively sabotaged and before anyone suggests Rook's doing all the work I'm saying right now that that's not the case, the Crows are clearly doing a lot when Rook's not around, and if you claim it is because we don't see them doing it you'd better be claiming that literally every faction is completely worthless because that argument does not apply to just the Crows). I am begging people to use their critical thinking skills, people saying things you agree with in broad terms and people being right are two entirely different things.
#dragon age veilguard#it is... very frustrating seeing people who generally have good critical thinking swallow ivenci's claims hook line and sinker#no it's not bad writing that they're proven wrong at every turn#no it's not a retcon or sanitizing the lore that the crows genuinely are fighting for treviso#no they're not overstepping when defending antiva is their job#i know y'all don't like the crows but please consider what ivenci ACTUALLY SAYS and what they ACTUALLY DO#and what the crows ACTUALLY DO before insisting ivenci's right just because they also say the crows are bad#the discussion of whether the crows are good or bad for antiva is ENTIRELY divorced from ivenci's claims and actions#because ivenci does not care about antiva. they want power FOR THEM. and the crows are getting in the way#like can people stop insisting the person whose first known move was letting a violent occupier occupy the city cares about antiva#i promise you they don't. even if they think they do they don't. if they did they wouldn't let the antaam occupy the city without a fight#and they definitely wouldn't try to gas the city to remove dissenters fighting against said occupation (whether crows or not)#and let's be real here. let's be absolutely real. the crows are not worse than how other countries in thedas are run#even assuming that ivenci is right about how much power they have (which. ivenci's kind of a massive liar so...#i don't know i'm gonna take that with a grain of salt until/unless i get more solid evidence than 'but they said')#ivenci would be worse because their first response to having direct power over the antaam is GASSING THE FUCKING CITY#there are definitely better options than the crows but there are worse ones too and ivenci is one of them

remember how in dao there were always like multiple flirty options u could just spring on ur love interest and it wasn't something that was brushed past it would stop a conversation dead in its tracks to have a cute secondary flirty offshoot with small variations dependent on the flirty option u initially chose with a unique course correction to get back on topic after...... yeah.
#sorry i'm about to be a hater#romance in datv is like. a vaguely flirty line met by an even vaguer response that has no impact on the conversation#in the beginning at least#only once your relationship is like 6 or 7 does it get a little more receptive#and the whole time it's like okay i completed a main quest. time to talk to the love interest. okay i did another main quest. time to talk#to the love interest. BC YOU CAN'T TALK TO THEM OUTSIDE OF DESIGNATED CUTSCENES. U CAN'T HAVE RANDOM CONVERSATIONS#A LA HAVE YOU EVER LICKED A LAMPPOST IN WINTER!!! THAT IS SO LAME!!!!!!!! SO COOKIE CUT!!!!!!!!!#there's so few references to your relationship at all really. the romance cutscenes could be removed and u would never know they're in love#the romance doesn't exist outside of designated cutscenes. you can't choose to randomly flirt you must wait for The Cutscenes because#there's only one way to romance everybody. even dai was better with this imo even though the formula is similar#partly bc u can get to know everyone outside of exclusive cutscenes?? you can just approach them at anytime and get to know them?? and find#a chance to flirt?? and there's teeny tiny special romance-specific moments carved out. like the dance after halamshiral for example#and again people TALK about your romance. it's present in the narrative#bioware is so known for their romances but they dropped the ball hard here and i'm sooooooooo disappointed#and actually?? companions barely ever interject during main quests too?? or quests at all?? just as a side note#companions should be voicing their OPINIONSSSSS when i make choices????#davrin should have had so much to say during weisshaupt cutscenes. like what the fuck was that#and why wasn't there a one-on-one conversation discussing his mortality with him beforehand?? would have liked to see that??#relationship growth in this game is purely waiting for the next milestone and it feels so stale and lackluster and upsetting and ugh#the fact that giving your companions gifts strictly results in approval gain and one measly thank you is indicative of everything wrong#anyways.txt#jasmine plays datv#da4 spoilers
