Can finally share these since my friend got her birthday present 😁❤️ some new foil bookmark designs! I cannot tell you how much paper and foil and ink I went through trying to perfect my method lol it was not pretty. I tweaked my original #dresdenneighborhood pattern just a bit to elongate the neighborhood instead of having a circular neighborhood. DIY foil prints~✨ ✨ ✨ go make some shiny :D

For anyone wondering what brands I’ve used-

Laser [Brother HL-1110] I use it for shipping labels too, never had any issues in 5 years

Inkjet [HP Deskjet 2620] ...I had to buy new cartridges just to make this guide cause the old ones started continuously leaking :| so uh

Laminator [???] dunno, cheap $20, is good?

Foils: I’ve used iCraft deco foil, Gina K fancy foil (both Thermoweb), and Heidi Swapp Minc foils. I personally like the iCraft, they have a big range, nice shine, fail less than the other two. But it leaves big cracks when it fails, Minc just leaves specks.

For Australians, Minc is easier to find (Spotlight stocks it) for Thermoweb foils some small craft stores have it in store and online.

Hi! I saw the gorgeous purple dice you made with the copper inclusions. If you don't mind my asking, how did you make the inclusions? I know you said transparency film and transfer foil, but do you have to do anything special to get the foil to stick to the transparency? I've been doing some resin crafting and being able to make my own transparent inclusions would be amazing!

You need to make sure it’s toner-reactive foil, which is the kind that tends to be marketed to scrapbookers and those kind of Pinterest-craft groups (some brand names: Minc, ThermoWeb, FoilQuill). Run it through a desktop laminator and voila, your very own foiled art!

Interesting side note: since scrapbooking is positioned as a thing for affluent white ladies, the foil can sometimes get pricy. However, I’ve had pretty good results with cheap knockoff nail transfer foil (the metallic kind, not the plastic kind; the latter still requires glue), which has the benefit of coming in a whole lot of really cool colors and patterns.
