I don't think Andromeda's rebellion was loud, like Sirius'. Not really.
I think Andromeda was a Black through and through. Her parent's pride: Slytherin, prefect, first of the class. She followed the rules, and she knew what her name entailed.
Andromeda Black used to scorn at muggleborns, to mumble stray "mudblood"s when the occasion was fit.
That's how her and Teddy first met. He and his Hufflepuff friends tripped with her, her books fell on the floor, just like a meetcute. But Andromeda didn't blush, she didn't feel like the protagonist of a romance movie.
She saw red. This careless Hufflepuffs had ruined her books, there was spilled ink all over her pages, and, worst of all, there wasn't a single pureblood amongst them.
Maybe she had already been having a bad day. Maybe, in any other situation she wouldn't have reacted, she would have been prideful.
But she cursed them out. She let out a long string of slurs that weren't even in use, a "this is what happens when they let fucking impure thieves into our school", etcetera, etcetera.
And she got a book to the face. Square, right in the middle.
Ted Tonks, one of the Hufflepuffs in the group, had grown tired of her racist rant, and had decided to put an end to it. The muggle way.
Hell ensued: Andromeda brought out her wand and started cursing. Ted charged at her with his bare hands (he was trying to prove a point). The rest of the Hufflepuffs scattered.
The teachers didn't take too long before they arrived and separated them, but Andromeda Black already had a black eye, and Ted Tonks had some ugly, bloody gashes where her curses had landed.
And they were forced to do Detention together.
They couldn't stand each other, from that point onwards. Until Andromeda started changing.
I don't think Andromeda's rebellion was loud. I think it was slow. I think she had to unlearn everything her parents had taught her, and I think at first she wasn't willing. But she was, eventually.
And she did change. She became better.

TW: Heavily implied Child Abuse
Stowaway AU where Pacifica becomes a stowaway on the Stan-O-War 2 after trying to run away from home to California. Things don’t exactly work out as planned, but at least she’s got a “Summer Internship” away from her parents now!

It’s so odd to me how many people will write Katniss as taking Peeta’s name in post-Mockinjay fanfiction. Ye do realise that lad has been writing Peeta Everdeen on his schoolwork since he was five, right??

It's actually so heartbreaking that in the temperance ending Johnny just.. leaves. Gets all these calls, maybe even texts, from people who don't know the extent of what happened. Who are accusing him, that are mad at him. Especially in the frame of reference that this was V's last wish. That it was V who gave the body up. That it was V who wanted this, wanted to save Johnny, Johnny essentially powerless to stop them ('just scared for ya').
And the thing is.. Johnny just lets everyone. Lets them make their own conclusions, lets them be mad at him. Lets them blame him. Lets them think, that after the love of his life the person who's ever wholly understood or cared about him the most like no other ever could had 'died', that it's his fault, that he could do that to them... Or just lets them think the worst of V as their final lasting impression or mark on this world. Doesn't try to defend himself nor V. He just leaves. Just takes it.
And you would think. You would think the one he would at least tell is Kerry. That the one to actually understand the most would be Kerry. I don't think any of the other love interests could get the whole engram situation like him, they don't have that personal history or connection to the code on the relic like he did after all. Kerry knew Johnny. Enough at least. But Johnny doesn't tell him, and Kerry just thinks V ghosted off on him and Johnny just lets him think that. And it just makes you wonder.. why would Johnny do that? Why would he do any of this?
#is this his way of grieving too? what is he getting out of this? does he want anything out if it? is this what he wants? was this?#wish i could say something more profound about it#but i literally woke in a cold sweat thinking about it 💀 and just needed to get this out#this is also obvi under the scenario of high affinity + v giving the body up willing for johnny + silverv (bc i said so)#(UGH and the way that it can always be argued that V giving up the body willing is just the engram doing its job#rewriting enough of their consciousness. far enough in the convergence. to influence them that this is what they wanted.#and YOU KNOW johnnys torturing himself over that the next few months in that shitty apartment holed up#and grieving in a life and world that has changed so much in the years he was gone with no remnant nothing of his previous life#no support system no friends no V#just him and the ghost he carries the face of and the impression theyre not really gone that they're still there)#((the horror of your life revolving around the tragedy of a loss of autonomy so great it creates an obsessiveness that gets you killed#just for someone to 'willingly' give up their autonomy to save your life.#your life (the fresh start of a new one at that) yet again hallmarked by a loss of autonomy so great it is unquantifiable#things coming full circle. the tail end eaten by the other.#the kind of grief that spurs from a debt so unpayable. so big.#the grief and horror and tragedy of being saved by the thing that killed you the first time around.))#(((ANGUISH)))#it makes me SICK thinking about these two in literally any capacity#they could be in the most dullest archetypal domestic ass conventional relationships n ill still find reasons to make myself sick over them#silverv#cyberpunk 2077#johnny silverhand#v cyberpunk#masc v#fem v#female v#male v#nonbinary v#kerry eurodyne#ult speaking

"Hector was a good man" "diomedes was an honorable man" BZZZT WRONG. Diomedes was there to steal, burn, and wage war same as the next person. In fact, he was pretty adamant about it. Hector had no issue with the greek's actions, merely that they were directed at him—I mean look at what he wanted to do with patroclus's body, only to then cite respect for funeral rites when it was his own turn to die. Hector also owned slaves within his own city walls—people that he likely took from their homes during troy's own conquests. All that seperated him and the greek warriors was which side they were on.
The Iliad isn't a story about morally upstanding men. Sure, it has men who have honor and perform honorable acts, but these are not good samaritans. It's is a story about war and grief and the real victims of fights between so-called-honorable men and gods. The urge to find a "good guy" in this story is wasted. Hector doesn't have to be morally good just because achilles isn't. Troy didn't lose because they were more or less evil than the greeks. It all just. Is. Because of fate? Because the gods said so? Because people will always make disastrous mistakes and it will always end up biting not only them, but everyone else around them? Who knows? In the end though, doesn't it all feel so pointless in the face of the endless amounts of grief and destruction that war leaves behind? Maybe that's the whole point

Shot-in-the-dark guess about the prophecy: perhaps the monster hero is going to absorb the human soul, thus killing the human hero in the process, in order to attain a massive power boost to "save the world". If the monster hero was actually Noelle, then it could explain the "guided by love" phrase (hearkening the Weird Route) and the heart icon that appears on a later panel of the monster (the SOUL). All total conjecture, but that's half the fun in waiting for new chapters!
It's been such an important point so far that Susie is outside of our control. She's the one element that really does what she wants and will only do what the player wants if she wants it, too, and even then, she'll still do things her way.
And yeah, I do have this distinct scary feeling that that rule's going to be broken by the end of the game.

i'm kind of late to this but i just finished reading the scholomance trilogy by naomi novik and i feel like it is such an underrated urban fantasy?? taking the chosen one trope and turning it on its head with a fmc who has been prophesied to bring death and destruction, who is imbued with terrible power, but cannot even properly use said power to solve any of her obstacles because it would obliterate them and her soul. it takes a tired trope and the idea of an 'overpowered mary sue' and throws it back in your face by showing how all the power and destiny in the world is useless against a system filled with corruption that has burdened you with an easy way out (evil/destructive magic) that you can't take so now you have to work twice as hard as everyone else just to do simple, constructive spells instead of flicking your wrist and being done with it.

as much as it bums me out that its not a part of my life anymore since ive stopped cosplaying two massive W's have been: 1) in the absense of not posting a picture of myself to 130K+ people every 48 hours i have not thought about my appearance in months. decentering my face/body from my creative outlets has been insanely freeing. in the past recovering from anorexia was so hard bc i was under so much observation, but people cant nitpick what they dont see. i can just make things and i dont have to worry or think 'will people say something about X' like no they wont....bc its not even there, let alone central to the display of the work.
2) i can afford to run my AC now that im not buying materials and AUUGUHGHGHGHGUHGH having my appartment be 76 as opposed to like....84 is a gamechanger. like i can spend my recreation money on other things like takeout and nick-nacks and AUGUHGH

I think that before Gortash and Durge started working together, they were both very lonely. And part of why their relationship is so intense is that they both see the other as the only person in the world who can handle them. The only other person in the world who could possibly understand them or be on their level, and to some degree, chosen as they are by evil gods, they're not really wrong.
Because as worshipers of dark gods, both Gortash and Durge have very specific paths laid out before them. As a worshiper of bane, gortash needs to become a tyrant - he needs to end up on top of the world. And as they said in the Prayer for Forgiveness, Durge is well aware that Bhaal created them to be the last soul alive.
But both of those things, being on top of the world and being the last soul alive, are very lonely ways to be. And I think both Gortash and Durge have both had periods in their lives where they were very lonely - Gortash in the house of hope (or frankly even before that, his parents hardly seemed loving) and Durge was likely treated more as an instrument than a person in the Bhaal cult. Neither of them want to be alone again, and after meeting the only other person in this world who can possibly be on their level, they seem to immediately set out to find ways to work the other person into their rigidly planned out lives.
Gortash genuinely plans to share power with with Durge, to rule alongside them. He gives you, his co-conspirator, his partner in crime, half the credit for the plans - calling them "our" plans. He's happy to hear you're alive, he's genuinely pleased to see you again, and he's ready pick right back up where you left off. He tests your resolve with the netherstones because he very specifically doesn't want another flunky, he wants an equal. He doesn't want to be alone up there on top of the world, with no one who could ever hope to understand him. He wants Durge right there with him and he's willing to commit a Banite sin (sharing power! the horror!) to get it.
And Durge, well, we saw the Prayer for Forgiveness. Durge plans to kill Gortash on Bhaal's altar, the same place they hope to die. I do think that Durge intended to kill Gortash last, and kill him slow. So that when they kill themselves he'll still be there. So they can die together, hand in bloody hand on that altar. Because being created to be the last soul alive is such a lonely fate, to know that you'll die completely alone, without even someone to hold your hand. And that is Durge's sin, the one small comfort they'd allow themselves - not dying alone, but dying with Gortash, holding his hand, knowing that there was someone there who loved them as they both breathed their last. Imagining dying in a loving embrace instead of alone in a cold world.
It's interesting to see how they both can't escape their gods plans for them (ruling and dying), can't bring themselves to imagine any other ending, but also go on to explicitly sin against their respective gods in the name of their relationship (ruling together, dying together). They're both drowning and they know they can't escape but goddammit they're going to go down together, the only two people in this world who can handle each other, the only two people who matter.

Something I really like about timebomb is that Ekko actually knows what he's getting into.
I'm not really seeing it get talked about but in season 1 they mention that Ekko and the firelights help people addicted to shimmer get off it and lead more fulfilling lives within the community. I should probably rewatch the scene for the exact wording (might be misremembering tbh) but that comment implies A LOT.
First: Ekko's mission is helping people where he can, he would probably try and help Jinx even if he wasn't in love with her
Second: He has experience dealing with severe mental illness as that often goes hand in hand with drug abuse, namely depression/suicidal ideation like what Jinx was exhibiting
Third: He's probably mapped out best course of action FOR dealing with this and has already figured out his own limits/boundaries. Meaning he knew what he was getting into trying to talk Jinx out of suicide, and was thus more equipped to deal with the aftermath
Fourth: He's probably helped ex members of Silco's gang. The firelights seem to have a theme of healing and repairing and recovering, so they've probably also learned to forgive. If they're mission is to rebuild the lanes into a safe space, they can't exclude people they don't like, they have to make room for them. I think they fought Silco out of necessity, and I doubt Jinx would be the first person they help who's killed one of them.
These all might be a bit of a stretch but I think it really fits. Beyond that, it shows that Ekko can ACTUALLY help Jinx. As much as unconditional love can do, Ekko has the tools for Jinx's recovery and a path ready for her. He also probably knows that her "healthy" will look different from AU Powder's "healthy." On top of that, I expect he knows how to respect her even in the middle of psychotic breaks and won't agitate her already frail mental state
#if you would like to (respectfully) disagree with me I'll GLADLY talk with you. I can think of nothing but Arcane atm#timebomb#ekko arcane#putting it in the tags bc I want to let people agree with my timebomb takes without having to listen to my other ship opinions#uh on that note I have some Caitlyn and Vi opinions that go a bit hand in hand with this#but I think that in contrast Caitlyn and Vi are mutually self destructive#see neither of them seem to make the others mental health... better.#Vi is desperate and needs love wherever she can get it#and Caitlyn... I'm not sure. I have a hard time reading her but a lot of the vibes I get off her feel like she just likes having the power#over vi#I KNOW THAT'S A STRONG CLAIM#hear me out#Vi in her search for unconditional love does a lot of enabling#a good example is when Caitlyn arrests that henchman in episode 3(?)#Vi is VISIBLY uncomfortable with that and for good reason!#Caitlyn just locked someone up for life for... nothing?#kinda like Marcus did to her (yes Marcus was trying to protect her but I doubt that's how Vi sees it)#but Vi doesn't voice this or push Caitlyn on it#instead she asks Caitlyn not to change#not great communication on Vi's part#but also indicative of how little their values align#and how little Caitlyn actually considers Vi and her problems and history#Caitlyn doesn't help Vi heal and she turns on Vi the second Vi stops enabling her and letting Caitlyn do as she thinks is best#neither of them are ready to deal with the others problems or communicate well#again. willing to discuss this. my opinions are swayable.#I just personally found Caitlyn made the most sense and was most compelling when she was going down facist dictator path#sure she could be more but I don't think the show ever really transitioned her away from that#you can see it in the way she treats Maddy#hhhhhh I should go to bed rather than spill every last thought I've ever had

I can’t get over people disagreeing with me saying Archer was fatherly to towards his crew
The man who contacted Malcolm’s whole family and multiple friends to figure out his favorite food for his birthday?
The man who literally held Hoshi’s hand when she was afraid of the transporter?
Not fatherly? What show were y’all watching?
