Okay so, I was going to draw some- very fruity Laserblast art ngl, but this ask hit me enough I sat down, and opened my laptop to write a real response. I've also got the series on in the background. I started episode 1 when I began typing, and we'll see how far I am in the series before I finish typing it.

First of all, I love using au to refer to real life, honestly better than various timelines. And secondly

Absolutely. Every day of my life. Every time I draw one of the characters, or see fanart, or hear the VAs or- anything. Because- I'm insanely hyperfixated on this show. A disgusting amount, unhealthily. It's not normal lol.

And I do constantly think about what could have been, I mean, after all once again my favorite character is Laserblast of all things. Not Venomous, Laserblast. The version of that man that has like five minutes of screen time and no canon first name. So much so that when on the Saberspark Q&A when he came up in a question for quote "Me and the three other Laserblast fans" I cheered out loud, alone, in my apartment. I would have killed to not have to pull at removing his mask myself and Ian's one tweet calling him a himbo to show people characterization.

And honestly the wiki makes it all worse, in a loving way. What do you mean we were going to get multiple sitcom comfy style episodes where K.O. spends the weekend with his dad? I could've had more proof that Venomous isn't an abusive dad, just an unskilled and undisciplined one? I COULD'VE HAD AN EASIER TIME SEPERATING HIM AND SHADOWY TO OTHERS?!

And sure, I constantly wish that somehow someway I'll wake up and Ian will have announced the movie, the Hue Troop spin off, post finale storylines, the works.

But, on the other hand, here's why I'm grateful for what we did end up getting (this will probably be the longer section, sorrey)

tldwr (Too long don't wanna read): Cartoon Network is dead and pathetic and I don't wish that suffering upon this wonderful show.

So, something you guys can also notice from Ian's posts and the wiki, and just from what the cartoon industry is like in general, that getting what you want out of your series, storyline and representation wise and all that is actually pulling teeth.

For an example of later episodes, things like a seemingly Radmond episode getting changed to rad and mikayla. Or Voxman having to be pretty heavily censored (although I'm proud of the subtext they managed so heavily) which is partially because, and this isn't to take away from wlw rep and how hard it is to get on air, but is more difficult to get outright mlm representation simply because- it's harder to censor.

After all, it's much easier to pull a "they're just close friends!" Thing for two fem presenting characters, than it is for two masc ones. It sucks and they shouldn't have to be censored across different countries at all, but it's just- how it is.

Which is why, realistically, as cool as the movie centering around a voxman wedding would be incredible, I don't think it would've made it past S&P. Not to mention, even if it somehow did, It'd either suffer the fate of being a TV movie, getting limited as hell views, OR best worst case scenario, a box office release which would get hate bombed by people for it's- everything. Because people suck. I mean, even not counting homophobic people there's a disturbingly high chunk of this fandom that hates Voxman- because... *checks wiki* Oh yeah, "Evil people not being perfect good guys = bad representation"

Also, cartoon network was- already starting to die by now, with less funding each year in the first place. Meaning we don't know if it getting that funding was even an option as time went on. And the idea of getting a longer season three, with the reveal being drawn out another season like they wanted, and then potentially never getting closure on- any of it? That's horrible even to think about.

Sure, the entirety of season 3 was rushed as hell. And I cry about all the missing stuff we'll probably never get, because well there's not even a cartoon network building to make this stuff in anymore, I'm glad that we have a finished storyline and understanding of where arcs would've gone to fill in things ourselves. I mean, getting to look into and imagine all the things we didn't get to see is much more fun than theorizing on an unfinished story.

So, yeah, I do wish that somehow, someway, we will get more someday. I'm at least glad we got a finished storyline and an ending that, while rushed, is still one of my favorites. I love let's fight to the end so much, I love how much I hate shadowy figure, and I love that I can be here making content for you guys!

Well look at that, it only took me seven episodes to write this whole thing, and I get to end this rant knowing Raymond was on screen. That's cool.

You know what, I’m obsessed with the idea that despite never telling anyone about what happened with the butterflies, Dusk would know something happened. TK and Dusk would be hanging out and everything would be fine but in the back of their mind Dusk would know something’s wrong that TK isn’t the same as when they last saw each other and when Dusk finally asks, TK just has this look of knowing and the lights around them begin to get dimmer and dimmer and even though xey want to know what’s going on with their friend, Dusk knows better than to push this. Though they still question why TK’s soul feels colder than it used to and why he almost seems stronger than they used to be.

From what Ive seen in the fandom, they love to portray him mostly through 2 ways: ill start with him as this smug ass mf. And I can see why (and find it funny too lol), but I think the "smugness" he portrays in canon is more so him playing his part as an "up and coming novelist." I think part of that persona is obviously believing himself to be "above" because oooo my novels r selling good if anyone else was in my situation theyd probably have a bit of ego about it if ykwim, and also paired with the fact that he seems to be emulating Sam...

Another portrayal of Orpheus is how he's like this cold, mysterious guy, and when seen through the lens of outsiders, yes! He could come off that way. But believing that that is his persona, or underneath it is this big evil, thats when his character kind of starts losing substance

I will admit I also have difficulties in trying to portray Orpheus, especially bc of his differing portrayals (Ex. aom and tor). Iirc too, its heavily implied that he has DID but im not very well-versed on that topic, so I try not to use it for this or that until I have a better grasp on it, which I believe is a problem that a lot of writers encounter when it comes to his character... i wont speak any more on it bc!! By no means am I knowledgeable enough on the topic to talk about it any longer

I do believe there's no problem with portraying his character either way when handled with taste! Even then, Orpheus is a very complex character...I think everyone is allowed to do their share of "ooc" for him because god knows how many times I do it just to have him whimsical lol, and at the same time it allows them to explore him as well as other people's perceptions of him. I hope through this, I, and many others, will be able to better understand Orpheus...

But okay tomato tomahto im going to start talking abt how he interacts with others, more specifically his dynamics with the people in aom... because in some way, he's the common link for all of them. Im not saying that he's the only way theyre connected as other members do have connections w each other prior to the game (Ex. melly and alice), but when it comes to who has the most relationships, its Orpheus who takes the cake

There's his collaboration w frederick (and i do believe he knew him prior to aom based on letters and friday book club apparently LMFAO), him and melly being "coworkers" b4 he became the famous novelist, norton who works for him, and ofc alice who is such an integral part to his past and how he becomes the man he is today

Ahhh idk its just very interesting how everyone in aom is very interconnected with orpheus, and the one person he's arguably "closest" to is the one who hasnt seen his true self, if there even is one anymore...again, Melly knew him prior to becoming a famous novelist, Norton literally works for him and for sure has had to get his hands dirty, and Frederick's "truce" with Orpheus in aom has allowed him to catch a glimpse of what Orpheus is capable of

Alice on the other hand is the "new" guy, and while she knows that theres something not quite right abt Orpheus at first glance, she has yet to realize the full extent of what Orpheus is willing to do to get what he wants

i actually just dove so deep into my google drive and i genuinely cannot find anything... i was originally working on a completely different fic for the wag fest - charles was going to be a model and max was an f1 driver and they meet because charles' dog keeps waking max up and i outlined a whole fic for that and then. didnt write it... i think i literally just jotted down a few key lines for this fic and then went for it ngl which is usually my fic process

11. i actually wasn't going to write their sex scene at all? i didn't intend for there to be smut in the fic but then it just sort of naturally happened because i think i felt like. as i was writing it seemed to be building towards a culmination and i thought it would be a good way for them to become like. emotionally vulnerable with each other (which theyd rather die than do...)

I had some extra time with my 8th graders so i decided to introduce them to foreshadowing and critical thought exercises with the movie Holes.

I love the movie and the book and my class read it in 4th grade so I feel like my kids can grasp the story

I stop it every 5-10 minutes to ask questions- which turned out to be fine because when i let it play for like 15 minutes I watched as they started shifting in their seats and getting distracted- social media has killed attention spans for real

If youve ever watched someone watch your favorite movie excited for their reactions- being a teacher actually gives that satisfaction

Cause the ones really paying attention and following along realize what theyre supposed to see when its shown in the movie

Like two kids saw when miss katherine became kissin kate barlow

And every revelation more and more of the class are immediately picking up on it

Before stanley even asked zero what the mountain looked like a bunch of the kids said it was the gods thumb that his grandpa climbed when the mountain came into view

One of my kids did his speech on curses a few weeks ago so he really likes the curse aspect of the movie and i wrote a timeline on the board today with the relevant characters from each time period. They learned zeros real name last class and when one girl said his last name - that kid looked at the board and was like WAIT madame zeroni!

They all caught on when stanleys dads invention worked after the curse was broken and the significance of the onions and peaches to the characters

They were as excited as the kids on the screen when stanley stole the truck

And when zero read stanleys name on the chest they all celebrated that he could read now

We had class before lunch and usually kids want to rush to the lunch room but none of them moved when the bell rang and they all asked to stay and finish the movie

I said tomorrow since i want to review the curse on the town and a few other things to make them really understand the rain scene

But its nice that they genuinely like the movie so much. I mean its not hard its a good ass movie

But japanese kids dont generally think about the stuff they watch. If you ask them about the motives of characters in their favorite movies they have no idea. They cant walk you from point a to point b. If the characters dont call each other by their relation then they have no idea how people are related. So being able to articulate that an action taken by a third party is affecting another character and the why and how is usually impossible

They dont do critical thought exercises

Japanese teachers dont care about the why

None of my kids (up into seniors in hs) have any idea what symbolism is

Like i asked them today how the counselors feel about zero and they could tell me that they dont like him because they call him zero and they think hes stupid. They want him to die

If my seniors watched this alone and even enjoyed it and were asked the same question- theyd just say everyone calls him zero and they want him to dig holes because thats his job. Theyd likely even tell me that the counselors do like zero. Possibly tell me that he was bad for hitting pendanski

Last year my hs kids told me that stanley was bad and deserved to go to jail because he picked up the shoes even though they werent his

Hopefully theyll be able to tell me why the lizards didnt bite stanley and zero tomorrow. I asked them when we were introduced to sam how the lizards feel about onions and they caught that they dont like them but i havent brought it up again.

And the next class I had my other 8th graders (theres only two classes) they came in begging to watch Holes. They only watched about 7 minutes at the end of our last class and deff got the name from the other class talking about how much they like it.

They missed alot of classes from holidays and stuff so we dont have time to focus on the movie. I put it on but they were allowed to self study while they were doing speaking tests with me one by one.

The ones who were watching it deff aren’t following it the same way as the kids in the other class.

They need to learn media literacy to follow along completely.

Like they don’t know how to identify flashbacks or different time periods. They cant cant pick up on actions words or characters who are shown or talked about over and over. There was no reaction to sams death scene aside from a few groans and shock to the donkeys death and sam getting shot. They deff have no idea why it was happening or its connection to anything else. Im sure they were entirely lost during elyas story.

Even kids who did other work of course watched the movie from time to time but none of them were engaged. They watched it how they would any other movie which i really think they just turn their brains off

It would be interesting to listen in on the conversations between the two classes because one class understands it really well and one of my kids even said he loves the movie before we started class.

Id be interested to hear them talk about it with the class who i didnt make a lesson out of the movie with

Cause i imagine the class that didnt get the lesson are not gonna understand why the kids who got the lesson enjoyed the movie so much. One half know the characters and saw parts that the other kids brains definitely just ignored

Japanese kids a babied more and thus more immature so I’m not going in depth but I did tell them the it was illegal for black people to have relationships with white people and thats why Sam was killed

I also pushed them to vocalize that elyas town was poor, that stanleys family is poor, and that zero was homeless.

If they followed along and answer my main questions quickly tomorrow i will tell them that camps like camp green lake do exist and that prisoners can be forced to be slaves - this opening their eyes to fictional stories connections to real life

They were shocked by the information that interracial couples were illegal and remembered it when i reviewed today.

I really want them to understand that the town was cursed because of the injustice of sams death from the white people of the town and that the curse is broken when not only is the granddaughter of the man at fault finally arrested - thus justice. But also that the white authority figures are held accountable and stopped from killing yet another black boy

Not something im gonna review but as i write that and why i enjoy this movie with every rewatch - kate took revenge on the racists. (Her gang was made up of native americans in the movie right?) She ended up sparing stanley - whos family is shown to not be racist and like her - cultivate meaningful relationships with black people.

OkOkOkOk, an Idea I can't stop thinking about. So, some time ago I read a Mérula x MC fic which had a tragic element to it and a romantic ass theme. Basically, Mérula has become a deatheater and confronts MC asking: If they love her so much, if theyd do anything for her, Would MC kill for her?. Mc doesnt answer, to which Mérula takes as a no. Fast forward to the battle of hogwarts, and MC ends up taking a killing blow for Mérula. in that moment, answering Mérula's question: "I couldn't kill for you, But I love you so much, I would die for you". WHEN I TELL U I THOUGHT OF LILY AND THAT THEME READING THE LAST CHAPTER JDJHSSKDKDKSK. WHEN THEY WERE LIKE THIS:

I love a good romantic tragedy. Sacrifice for someone you love is a popular trope for a reason because it can give you such a powerful punch in the feels when it’s done well (one of the many reasons I enjoy the Locked Tomb series so much; it loves putting a twist on sacrifice).

It’s definitely not a spoiler to say sacrifice is a major theme in The Mad Witch. Many characters would die to protect their loved ones, even beyond romantic pairings—there’s Merula and Lily, but there’s also Lily and Jacob, Robin and Eritha, Sam and Kathy, and many more. While sacrifice is a major theme of the story, however, I do not want it to be the main theme.

I think you guys can easily guess the answer to, “If I love you, would I die for you?” for our main pair. Merula and Lily have (correctly) guessed the answer by this point, and it has made each of them terrified for the other.

So, eventually, in response, we’re going to see a different question: “If you love me, would you live for me?” In the context of this story, that answer might be a little more interesting.

OHHH MY GOD IM INSANE ABOUT THEMM. went into this fic knowing that i wanted mikan and akane to have their own povs because i thought theyd bring different perspectives, especially in comparison to makoto's pov. i knew what i wanted mikans story to involve and i had a vague idea about akanes (fun fact rantaro was originally gonna be kaito LOL) and then like two chapters into writing mikans point of view i was like waiiiitttt a minute. wait a minute hold on. what if they were in love. and what if they were so not normal about it

it made so much sense for the story i wanted both of them to tell that immediately i went into my notes and started pivoting a few things LMFAO. i just think that their relationship (or their pining at least lol) is able to neatly underline some of their core themes/issues in this fic, whether that be for better or for worse. through the lens of their relationship im hoping to convey mikan's sheer capacity of worry and insecurity, how she finds it difficult to move through life without another person to rely on even if she has done a bit of growing since the simulator and how that dependency affects her. and then of course akane's emotional repression is highlighted through their relationship (her forgetfulness, her inability to communicate, LEAVING all of the time), but also it's a great reminder of just how protective akane can get even if she isn't there. not to mention how worried she gets about mikan despite her absolute refusal to worry.

they care about each other to the point of unspoken codependency and while it is absolutely making both of them feel safe and happy it is still a reminder of their underlying problems. akane would do anything to avoid somebody thinking she is weak enough to be cared for. but all mikan can do is care and care and care about her. both of them are so willing to shoulder the problems of the other but neither of them want to be seen as burdens, so all they end up doing is silently dance around their issues until eventually somebody caves. INSANE YURI MOMENT

mikan still absolutely has anxiety LMFAO and dare i say..... she's...... kind of better????????????????????? or maybe not actually. going into this i had to think about how to write these characters in a way that felt true to who they are but also remembering that they have GROWN, even if danganronpa really makes them feel as if they havent lol. this is a mikan who has likely endured years of therapy, even if that therapy is SHIT at best. this is also a mikan who has been shoved into the spotlight rather forcibly and has basically been given the choice to adapt or die. so i probably shouldnt say that shes "better", it's more that shes had to modify herself to fit this new lifestyle of hers. she hasnt been given much of a choice, and i imagine shes had a few years to really fuck up and struggle before reaching this point. she is constantly in the spotlight and basically always under scrutiny, so ive sort of swayed away from her wanting attention and focused more on how she reacts to this attention-- shes grown bitter from the negative and she doesnt think she deserves most of the positive. it's this hurricane of problems with mikan and a lot of it involves her own struggle to view herself as a good person, which stems heavily from the insecurities she already had in her game and intensified by what happened outside of it. years of being seen as this iconic chapter three killer has absolutely worn her down a bit, but there is still a part of her that yearns for control over her life and the people surrounding it. she is still SO anxious, ive tried to really hammer home quite a few recurring symptoms with her like her nervous tics, sickness/lack of appetite, hair shedding, etc!! and she is extremely bitter about how shes been treated, too, which im hoping to elaborate on further on down the line. however she really, REALLY can not be passing out in front of cameras or throwing any fits about the exploitation shes endured since shes been a teen because the company she works for wont accept anything that isnt on brand. and underneath it all shes still that scared little kid that desperately wants to please

she's an older mikan but she is still very much hurting, not necessarily any less but in a way that's a bit different if that makes sense :)

lamar doesnt seem like a wedding OR a marriage kind of person tbh and while my sona would occasionally dream of having a nice, traditional ceremony it's not like it's a Huge requirement for them or a wish theyd die to fulfill so they wouldnt ask for a proposal. however. i think if they spent enough years together OR if he panics and thinks one of them could die soon, he WOULD pop the question (he could propose during a spontaneous shootout imo). theyd have a courthouse marriage as opposed to a traditional ceremony but i dont think itd be a solemn affair or anything. thered be some elements of a traditional wedding (theyd kiss in the courthouse). all of his friends are there (franklins the best man)

5. Who’s the stricter parent?

neither of them are particularly strict, but my sona would be the "firmer" parent. lamar is the "fun" dad whod teach their kid how to ride a bike, and my sona is the "lame" mom whos trying to make sure neither of them drive straight into a ditch. either way tho, one thing both of them ARE strict about is safety. lamar would believe their kid should toughen up, but not to the point of compromising the kid's safety. hed outright give his life for his family. my sona, on the other hand? theyre the quiet mom whos unexpectedly terrifying when its time to confront a particularly mean teacher or the parent of their kid's bully (lamar thinks its hot).

that being said, while not directly related to the question; it takes a village to raise a child, so lamars friends would probably be involved in helping raise the kid.

- related to the last one i think once aj gets old enough clem would move into violets room (and tenn would move into ajs room. every night is a sleepover (yes tenn is alive in my hcs 😔 and no one is maimed))

- i know clem is technically The Leader now, but vi was doing a good job before clem took over, and since her relationship with clem helped her get over herself a bit and now she outright cares for the school group (instead of caring but pretending she doesnt to avoid getting hurt from loss again 🥺), i think theyd definitely lead together. clem is still #1 but violet is like her right hand/second in command. if the group splits up for whatever reason (hunting/scouting/investigating passing groups) then they each take leadership of each group (unless they feel like going fishing together 🥺). they definitely makes plans together. up in the office. sometimes they share the chair (its a huge chair have you looked at that thing)

- again since tenn is alive in my hcs i love the idea of clem+aj/vi+tenn one little family within one big family. if tenn and aj are like playing or drawing vi and clem are watching like a couple of doting parents 🥺💕

- they stole that horse from the raiders so sometimes they go on little rides together around the school, checking defenses. but also just to get some time together alone

- vi gets help from the others to help jury-rig a pully system on the bell tower so clem can get up there again. they make so many intricate home alone style traps i think they could do it. i think clem would cry shdfks. and it would mean that much more to her that everyone helped make it

- violet became very confident in her relationship with clem throughout the last 2 eps so i think they wouldnt shy away from being cute in front of everyone lmao especially as the years go by

- after a number of years together i think theyd like to make things more "permanent". the only signifier of their relationship is the pin vi gives to clem (which is so cute on its own god i love that pin ("so you never forget that night" "i never will" SHUT UP THEYRE SO CUTE)). i thought maybe violet would whittle like a pair of wooden rings but thinking about it more i think they would just make new pins for each other. the pins are kind of their thing. clem would still keep wearing the og star pin, but she'd also get a violet flower pin, and violet would get a clementine pin 🍊💜

- related to the last one, louis would catch violet making her pin for clem and turn it into a whole big thing. because its boring living in the apocalypse and he wants to make this fun. clem would be on board with it and violet would agree if thats what clem wants. so theyd have a little "wedding" with the school kids attending. tenn and aj collect flowers and you know omar would make some big, extra fancy meal.

- idk if this counts but do you ever think about how during the last ep violet gets forcibly split from clem+aj and has to go back to the school by herself, and hours go by and clem and aj havent made it back yet... and how violet probably went back out there to desperately look for them, thinking they were dead and blaming herself for just leaving them there... she mustve been so devastated and scared and angry. i bet she was the first to see aj pushing that wheelbarrow back to the school and just started crying and sobbing if she wasnt already. SORRY TO END THIS ON A SAD ONE but i think about this 😭 ....................

also. hehe. seth wouldnt fully starve him :) starvation is worse and more horrible if its not a full fast, but when the person regularly receives meals that r too small... so thats what kane would get. and on that note, i think it would be fun to let pumpkin's blood drip onto the floor upstairs or even outside, and then tell kane that those drips r the only blood hes getting for a while. but they'll be cleaned up soon, way before the sun sets and he could lick them up safely, so either he hurries or he starves :) i can just imagine the poor man sitting at the edge of the shadows staring at the blood longingly...

also kane would be in for a real treat down in the basement, because pumpkin is Always injured and bleeding. there r always bloody bandages lying around. ... :)

and yes pumpkin would decline telling kane their real name, but now i cant stop imagining a scenario where they think theyre gonna die, and so out of desperation and hope that at least one person could remember them and keep their memory alive, they'd tell kane their name. just the faintest whisper. they'd be rly embarrassed abt it if they survived and theyd ask kane never to use it, but itd also bring them a little bit of peace. seth doesnt even know their name bc he refused to hear them out. but kane now does. he'd remember them...

kane probably wouldn't even notice the painkillers when he first arrives, he hasn't had blood in so long that it tastes like the best thing in the world, and would later assume that's just how pumpkin's blood tastes by default. he wouldonly know if he either saw pumpkin taking them or had a taste of their blood without painkillers. he would absolutely not complain.

if kane is kept in an unbearable enough state as far as the amount of blood he gets, there would be so much begging. he would probably not go in the sun for blood though, not unless he was truly truly desperate. speaking of which... if he's starved enough, especially if pumpkin is bleeding, and he's left unrestrained... he might not be able to stop himself from attacking them. he would feel horrible about it after, apologizing to them profusely on his hands and knees.

this is gross but he would eat the bandages when pumpkin is done wth them. there's no way to suck All the blood from them and he needs more so he would just... yeah. and he would thank pumpkin (or seth if he's down there at the time) for allowing him to.

if seth told pumpkin to hurt kane, would they do it? i assume "yes and then comfort him later"? kane might beg for mercy if it gets bad enough.

kane would be completely disturbed to find out pumpkin came here of their own free will. he cares deeply for them, pumpkin is his savior who's kind to him and gives him blood, but... there is the smallest, tiniest bit of resentment for this fact. that he's trapped here to be punished forever, while pumpkin just waltzed in willingly. he would never admit how he feels about this.

due to Everything About Them i can only assume that pumpkin has... family issues... i imagine pumpkin and kane bonding over this if they got to talking about their pasts.

ik pumpkin feels weird about kane treating them with reverence, but how would they feel in the beginning before they get to know each other when kane is scared of them?

i dont know, i get why people didnt like the ending but its. .. . it makes more sense in the comicverse. bc the squad doesnt really. .. interact outside of jobs? i mean, think of the moon landing story in ttt. that was booker and joe and nicky doing a job and andy only showed up a for a couple minutes after it was done. or the brunch in the first issue of opening fire. the squad arent as tight in the comic, and andy often seems to do her own thing outside of work, so andy saying 'i dont want to do work anymore' and the squad being like 'alright bye then' makes more sense in this universe than the movie one

also i feel like greg was Trying to set up a thing where nile becomes the Leader of The Squad after andy dies but like. its not very well done since. . . i mean, nile hasnt spoken to booker since opening fire, (and she only knew him A Day). and shes known joe and nicky all that time, but there isnt really anything that indicates that they have any relationship at all, much less one that's grown. in all the comicverse the only time nile and nicky speak is in FM, and in that scene nicky tells nile about noriko. nile goes from someone who needs to be set aside to have background knowledge explained to her to being the Leader of the group with nothing in between. it kind of... comes out of nowhere.

on the other hand tho... i felt really bad for andy thru the whole thing. well, i always felt bad for andy, but in this one she seemed so miserable, especially since it really felt like none of the others actually.... cared about her. when noriko came back no one asked andy how she was doing (big question ik, but it wouldve showed they cared at least), nobody ever expressed any concern for her, no one even really seemed to want to be around her. in opening fire everyone was more distant than in the movie of course, but there were little moments where she would joke with joe, or nicky would try and comfort her, or stuff like that, but in FM it really felt like they just didnt really care about her. & in opening fire it felt a lot like andy's relationship with nile breathed some new life into her, but in FM it felt like all they did was argue. i get theyre not *as* close in the comics but it really felt like the only person who cared about andy at all was noriko (which was probably also how andy felt) but it just seemed to come out of nowhere. honestly i was reading and i was honestly agreeing with andy that she might just be better off if she did just die. opening fire, on the other hand, never make me feel that way

tho everyone made it sound like when the squad split up it was one of those cursed 'the found family leaves each other at the end of the journey' tropes. but guys i mean,,, this is the second installment out of three. that isnt the End. theyll come back in the third one and Dramatically Reunite to fight some baddies (probably those 'others' noriko mentioned). im guessing yitzhak fits into that too somehow.

anyways it wasnt That Bad but it made me kind of sad and the only Sweet Found Family vibes in it were when they saved booker. also they shouldve beefed up that nilemoose romance, it underwhelmed me. 6.5/10

My NOTP for them: tobi, its really funny to think about but not really for me. I dont think my notp for him is because he hates all uchiha but more so because Tobi's and Deidara's personalities dont mesh well together, and i do also mean [spoiler]'s personality as well.

List of other people I dont think mesh well with Deidara:

Kakashi, Kankuro, Ino, Kakazu, sasuke

For a lot of these ships, in my opinion they just dont work for me.

My BROTP for them: ok so I do ship Sassori with Deidara but like hes just a really cool bro as well. Kishimoto does an amazing job of providing us with brotp ships that are homoerotic, hate each other, but like also theyd die for one another. I think more times than often about how Deidara and Sasori just veg out in a hidden away nook in their journeys and either spend all their resting time arguing and venting while meticulously working on their art, usually its when one or both of them are stuck on a new design. or they sit in complete silence, saying nothing, while smoothing out their fibishjng touches. And while the two may not agree on the other's art medium , their opinions matter to one another and passively ask for the other's opinion on what build would work better in what scenario. I can go into an essay about this so I'll stop here.

My OTP for them : -Mumbles- my oc....

..... as an adult I have realized how volatile their relationship would be. But as an adult, I no longer care. My OC Mathilda and Deidara are my OTP because of how different their personalities are and how much they apart of the "i can change them" squad. I feel like Mathilda (she/her) would actually make Deidara question his sexuality rather than piss him off right off the bat and she would make him self reflect..... like why dooooes he hate the uchihas so much? They're an eternal art that he can't understand, they go against everything he believes. Mathilda would be too, but she's a safer option to explore his sexuality with, and better yet? She too hates the uchihas????????? Fuck yeah sign me on- what do you mean I have to self reflect to get on this ride?theres a lot more to it that is heavily fanfic heascannon fodder so I'll save you from my lengthy explanation and give you my other OTP with a character that exists in the story.

Otp pt2: sasori. I mean, again, for all the reasons theyre a brotp theyre also my otp. They just GET eachother even if they hate the other's choice of aesthetics. If I want to make an argument of sexuality I feel like Deidara and Sasori's relationship could occur very naturally, had they had more time (every day im furious with how fast they were killed off instead of used more for story purposes), however I feel like it would be a lot more pinning on Deidara's part. Sasori goes against all of his beliefs but still he keeps Deidara motivated and interested.

My second choice pairing for them: itachi. Listen..... we all know Deidara has some pent up confused gay emotion directed towards itachi. Well literally anyone who can defeat him or render him powerless (lenny face here). If these two were paired up for anything, misssions would take forever to be completed but they would get done. Both would tire eachother repeatedly, making the other hate the other more until one of them, its itachi, asks what the fuck is going on. Deidara would say "i hate you because you're not art" or something along those lines and throw in a bit about how emotionless the uchihas are. Itach replys "whatever" this only enrages Deidara more till he attackss, itachi reponds and everything goes back down to an equilibrium where Itach i could ask what was really wrong and how could they change something so they could actually work together. Deidara would go on a long tangent that Itachi (lady doing math meme) deciphers that Deidara has pent up gay emotion and tells Deidara this. This sets him off but quickly fizzles Deidara out and leaves him silent for once. Oh look he's self reflecting now. Itachi/Deidara is a great ship to see Deidara mature pine and I love every second of that.

My fluffy pairing for them: sasori again, I dont think Deidara is a big physical touch person. But its about those small slice of life moments between these two if you want them to have fluff.

Another could be Sai. Yeah, there would have to be a lot to happen there for anything to develop but I feel like these two could develop the other emotionally and physically.

Oh! Naruto as well but thats an easy one because Naruto has an innate ability to make friends with anyone. But a naruto/deidara that reforms Deidara would be chock full of fluff.

i feel like when wave 2 met each other adeleine and ribbon got along with daroach really well. they all wanted to get along with dark too and know more about him but he refused to open up around them and hardly showed any emotion. and sometimes if he showed emotion it would only be annoyance. adeleine thought there was no point in trying to get to know this guy because he clearly wasnt going to talk anytime soon but ribbon and daroach thought dark had some potential. i like to think that one night, daroach is like "wtf is with this guy is something wrong??" and eventually has a "man to man talk" with dark and basically just asks why he wont have any fun and loosen up. dark just replies with something like "theres no point in making friends or having any kind of relationship because we'll just die in the end." bc thats kinda what youre taught in the mirror world since everyone is so fragile and leaves the world so quickly. plus dark would also think that if theyre gonna defeat void (did they even know about void at the time?? idk im too tired lol) theyd need to be on guard at all times, rather than "playing dumb games and fucking around." daroach is kinda sad after the talk because he thought he'd be able to break through darks tough barrier, and he really wanted to see dark be happy and just have fun. their adventure continues on as normal and dark really cant help but envy seeing the others having fun and laughing. hes never had much of a friendship in his life, and the other person hes ever been close to was shadow kirby, who isnt even there. he also thinks about how daroach basically offered to be friends and how he missed the opportunity to befriend everyone and is more or less pissed at himself for that. and also pissed at himself for wanting friends at all. plus the feeling of homesickness was bothering him and he kinda just. stares longingly at the ground with this glazed look in his eyes and adeleine is like "um oh shit is he ok??" and everyone goes and checks up on him and keep asking him questions and stuff and he gets overwhelmed and snaps at them. then after that he just sighs and says he misses his home. and everyone gasps and theyre like "what the fuck he just opened up about his feelings omg" and they were realizing that they were finally getting somewhere. and ribbon instinctively goes up and hugs dark and he remembers how shadow kirby had hugged him and even tho dark would never admit it, the hug was really secure and made him feel more at home in a way, and he was happy. and without realizing it he started purring and the others were like "AAAAAH HE PURRS??? AND HES HAPPY??" and it kinda turns into a big ol group hug and dark gets super flustered but accepts it. after that dark very slowly starts actually interacting with the others and forms special little bonds with the 3 of them. he even at one point quietly laughs at one of their dumb jokes. when they all get to the end of the game dark starts feeling sad and he doesnt know why? daroach probably calls them over for a pep talk before the final battle and they all realize that they *might* not survive this. they say goodbye and thank each other for everything, yknow, just in case. anyways they win the battles over and they all realize, "wow, we're all alive??" and while daroach adeleine and ribbon are laughing and stuff, dark has a lot of emotions bottling up. hes happy hes alive, hes happy his new "friends" are alive. and he thought he'd be happier to know hes going home soon. but hes not, he wants to stay with these guys because for once in his life he feels happy and safe. it took him a long time to realize it but he finally found friends that he loves and cares about :) after a while he says goodbye and goes home with a heavy heart, but feels better when he sees shadow kirby again, and tells the kid about everything that happened, while making himself sound as cool as possible ofc. i like to think that he often goes back to dreamland to see daroach adeleine and ribbon, and even lets s kirby come along sometimes :)
