Thiam Starter Kit

Here is a short and sweet starter kit , 3 author, of fics I would recommend to literally anyone, not just Thiam shippers, to get you into the wonderful ship that it Thiam! I included, the number of chapters, words and the status of each fic because those things are always something I like to know personally, but if you don’t care ignore them lol!! I hope you enjoy! 

To start: What is Thiam? Thiam is the ship name for Liam Dunbar and Theo Raeken in the Teen Wolf fandom. 

Is Thiam canon? Technically Thiam is not cannon, but there is a lot of speculation that it was either intended to be or should be. Lots of fans see a lot of sexual and emotional tension and chemistry between the two characters and I would say I have to agree. People tend to write Liam as bi and Theo as either bi or gay. I personally see both characters written in the show as bi, along with Stiles. 

Now lets get into the recommendations! 

Of course there is the classic: Airplanes by Captianmintyfresh 

Author’s summary: After the Anuk-ite and the hunters are dealt with Liam needs a break. Cue Theo and a road trip that Liam should know better than to think will be peaceful.

Captianmintyfresh has about 20 other Teen Wolf fan fictions as well has fics in other fandoms, and has recently updated their AO3! I would genuinely recommend anything they have written! 

Secondly, I would recommend basically anything by fallingforboys

Author’s summary: Liam’s chest moves up and down steadily as Theo cleans up the dried red stains and Theo can’t stop himself and just gives in, lies his palm flat against the beta’s skin and watches his hand move up and down in sync with Liam’s breaths, feels the gentle thud of Liam’s heart in the tips of his fingers.

Note: I can never find good hurt Liam, protective Theo fics and this one is so good, if anyone else has a good recommendation for this kind of thing let me know!

Author’s summary: The first time Liam does it, Theo snatches his hand back immediately.

Note: this one is literally so fucking cute I can’t even breath!!!!

Author’s summary: Theo used to always be in control, used to be able to switch from his animalistic, ruthless side to his stoic facade in a blink of an eye—it used to be second nature. It was, after all, how he had almost broken up the McCall pack last year. But then the pack took him by surprise, broke his expectations—evidently even the McCall pack could be cruel sometimes—and had sent him to hell. And all the training, all the sleepless nights Theo had spent being forced to learn how to hide, slipped out of his fingers. Because apparently, there were some things that made you forget what it was like to be in control, and getting your heart ripped out over and over and over until you forgot what it felt like to not feel an ache in your chest was one of those things.

Genuinely one of my favorite fics of all time is: What It Means to Stay Alive

Author’s summary: Dangerous characters from Theo’s past arrive in Beacon Hills and want him dead. Liam is seriously not okay with this plan; especially since they seem hell-bent on slaughtering a group of supernaturals along with him. The beta’s in charge while Scott is gone, and no way is this going down on his watch. But if Theo and Liam want to stop the assassins and not be consumed by the passion, blood, and darkness that surrounds them, they’re going to need each other.

Set after 6x16, but the Hunter situation is ignored/on hold. Contains dual perspectives that will switch throughout chapters. Eventual E (Trust me. I’ve written the chapter. It gets there.)

Status: Complete            Chapters: 10/10          Words: 70,139

Note because I have to: This one is actually fucking amazing! I have read it probably two or three times which I never do! Soooooo good! 

There is also: Afterglow

Author’s summary: Finally. The chaos has been quieted; the threats resolved. Long suppressed words have been revealed, and secrets confessed. Both Theo and Liam have laid their souls bare for each other, marveling at the effects of giving in to who they truly want. But it’s easier to breathe whispers in the darkness of the night, and like it or not, daybreak will always arrive with tomorrow just around the corner. How long can they stay lost in each other before the world catches up?

Can be read as a multi-chapter epilogue to What It Means to Stay Alive, outlining the weekend that follows the final chapter. I’ll add more tags as I go because I don’t want to spoil anything. Will have alternating perspectives throughout the chapters as usual, and ratings will also jump around.

Argent continues his statement with a heaviness in his tone Theo doesn’t quite understand the need for. “Scott doesn’t like to keep prisoners.”

There’s a question at the tip of Theo’s tongue. Something that’s settled in his bone within the years he’s been freed from the Skinwalkers’ prison.

Then what am am I?

(Theo didn’t think he’d have to spend another birthday down in the depths of the Dread Doctors’ tunnels, but as usual, Scott McCall and his pack of self-sacrificing morons have other plans.

Or alternatively: Theo turns twenty-one, meets Liam’s family and winds up cuffed to a radiator alongside Mason. These events do not happen in that order.)

Welcome to the Thiam Big Bang!

Due to popular demand from the Thiam community, we have decided to host another big bang! 

How does this work?

Writers will create an original Theo/Liam work. After a few weeks, authors will submit summaries of their work. During this time, there will be a claiming phase for artists to claim a writers’ summary that they want to create art for. You will then work with your writer/artist/beta to create amazing works for the big bang!

What are the rules?

There is no word limit! We just ask that you produce a finished work by the final deadline.

Artists, create to your heart’s content using whatever medium that you prefer.

Main pairing has to be Thiam, but side pairings are allowed.

Any genre is allowed; canon, au, etc. The floor is yours to write what you want! Take your prompt and run wild with it!

WIPs that are posted to the public cannot be used for the big bang. If you have started something that you would like to use, and it has not been posted to the public, you can do that.

During the big bang, works must not be made public. You can of course talk with your friends, beta, and artist, for plot points, ideas, etc. But please do not make your fic idea widely known, as to keep it a fun surprise for everyone when works are posted!

Work together with your partners as you create! This is meant to be a collaborative effort. Artists, please do not throw fully fledged spiral ideas at your writers. Authors, please communicate with your artists about your vision. The two of you need to work together for this event to be a success for all!

If an author and artist wish to pair up on their own and create, please do so! The more participants, the merrier! Please make sure that both parties fill out the sign-up sheet for the sake of check-ins.

If you are finished early, do NOT post your works or any portion of it, anywhere before the posting date.

Betas:

Betas are not required for this event! If you have your own beta, great! Betas usually help with grammar and spelling but can also help with ideas, plot holes, etc. Beta readers, please sign up using the form provided! It will be the same form used for artists and authors.

Cheerleaders:

If you are also interested in being a cheerleader for our writers/artists, please jump right in! Cheerleaders offer encouragement, support, be a sounding board for ideas, or just generally chat about Thiam and/or the big bang event. You can be a cheerleader and a beta, can be a cheerleader for an artist, author or both. It will be the same form used for artists and authors.

A friend and I already have an idea for a fanfic/fanart collaboration? Do we still have to go through the traditional sign up?

The Big Bang is the perfect occasion to do a collab! The sign-up form is adapted to these situations. So, yes, we do ask that you fill out the sign up form and state that you are partnered already. You will not receive the prompt bank in this case. You will still need to take part in check ins so that we know you are on track for posting dates.

Can I sign up with a co-author?

Yes! When filling out the sign up form, please state your co-author and ask them to submit a form as well.

Can I sign up as a writer AND an artist?

Yes you can! But please make sure that you can fulfil the responsibilities that you signed up for. Please ensure you have time to complete your fic and create art for the writer you are paired up with.

What happens if there is an uneven number of writers and artists?

We will have an option for artists/authors to do a second pairing and if needed advertise for pinch hitters. We will do everything we can to ensure that every prompt has both a writer and an artist so everyone can participate in this event.

Checkpoints:

We will send out reminder emails during each checkpoint. These will be gentle reminders, used for encouragement and motivation, to check in with you in your writing process. 

What if I need to drop-out?

We know real life can get in the way sometimes. If you need to drop-out, can’t meet the deadline, etc. please contact the mods ASAP (preferably before November 1, so we can find a pinch hitter). 

Posting/ Submissions:

There will be a Thiam Big Bang collection on AO3 to post all of your works. If you don’t have an AO3, you can go here to sign up for an account. Please be aware that it might take several weeks to get an invitation to create an account. If you are a member of the OTL Discord, post and ask members if they have any invitations they can share with you as many of us have multiple we can give out. Submissions are posted on AO3, and it must be a masterpost of the fic and art. The collection will be unrevealed and moderated to ensure that posts are not revealed before the final due date. If there are a lot of people that have signed up for this event, we may assign you posting dates, to stagger the submissions so nothing gets lost in the shuffle and everyone can enjoy your works. A reminder to everyone, that your works should not be posted anywhere online before the reveal date.

When posting on tumblr, please use #thiambigbang2021 and #officialthiamlibrary in your first five tags so we can find it and reblog your works. Again, when posting on tumblr, it must be a masterpost with both the fic and art. Please DO NOT post your final works before the final deadline. And of course, if tumblr is acting wonky and your posts are still not showing up in the tags, you can always mention us in the post, submit it here, or email us at officialthiamlibrary@gmail.com.

It wasn’t exactly easy for Liam-- or any of them, really-- to settle the uneasiness that had taken root in his bones, and Theo could tell that being intentionally left out of the loop so he could ‘enjoy his college experience’ wasn’t doing him any favours.

It’s at times like these, when he’s alone in a room that smells a little too much like death. With the bite of antiseptic burning at the back of his throat and the rattle of the radiator that sounds eerily similar to the clanging of the morgue doors. He thinks of Tara.

“I’d cross anchovy and pineapple off the list,” Scott says and Theo hates how exposed he immediately feels. “It was awful when we were eight and it’s still awful now.”

Theo attempts to take the comment in his stride, ignoring the pit in his stomach and how the moisture drains from his mouth. “Duly noted.”

It’s a thinly veiled attempt at asking the deeper questions. The ones that sound a little too much like an opening into conversations that neither Theo nor Mason are ready to handle. Words that wonder why Theo is there and Liam isn’t; words that ask why Theo is there at all.
